Sometimes, when I notice part way through a match the entire team ignored a giant spot, my mind started with.

"Oh, you guys missed a spot"

Which evolved to: "Oh, you guys left a bald spot."

The larger inkspots started to evolve into the more baffling phrase "You guys left a bald spot large enough to be seen from space."

Finally, my mind ends up with the phrase "You guys left a bald spot large enough for the bear to see."

And now I think I know how people feel when they first look at Splatoon Lore.
