Hello from Großglockner Hochalpenstraße or Grossglockner High Alpine Road! This is the highest surfaced mountain pass in Austria and I HAD to ride it. The photos I googled showed amazing paved roads with gorgeous mountains in the background with tons of hairpin turns. Now that we got that out of the way, I didn’t really enjoy this ride all that much, and here’s why. It cost 28€/ about $27 USD in toll just to ride this pass (so expensive!), was super cold as I rose higher in elevation, was too foggy to fly my drone to capture a birds eye view photo of the hairpin turns, and some parts of the road were slick from rain. I have also decided I’ve ridden enough of these “Motorcycle Must Rides” because I don’t really like hairpin turns all that much anyways. That’s just my reality. But at least I get to share these photos with y’all hooligans. You know what the highlight of this ride was? Yeah, I did it, but I also met this cool local from Germany who was on a moto trip with his dad. We’re friends now and keep in touch. Pretty wholesome huh? 🥺 My new rider friend is my silver lining to what appears as a cool experience on Instagram, but was actually a bit miserable and anxiety driven. Just being real. Cheers @das_martin 😺 People. It’s about people and connection in the end. Have a great weekend y’all! Connect with a fellow human for me please 😺 #chasingcrystal #grossglockner #großglockner #großglocknerhochalpenstraße #austria🇦🇹 #áustria #austriatravel #asianwomen #austriaalps #ladyriders #ladyridersofinstagram (at Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjqZm3bo4W4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
