Gusept looked back at Elidae, only barely holding back a sigh. He'd gotten plenty of sleep the day before, so he didn't mind toughing out today. But she was insistent despite...everything. He supposed he shouldn't have been too surprised.

After a moment's silence he nodded, albeit slowly. "Fine. Just don't be surprised if you get squished." He mumbled as he crawled in next to her.

It was a pretty big night for Gusept. One he’d been looking forward to for a while. All in all, even if it was still new and a bit odd, Gusept was looking forward to it. He was sure despite the bumps it would be an overall good time.

The new expansion to his favorite MMO had just dropped! So of course, he had to drop everything so he could get to the level cap and explore the new continent. He was pretty sure he had set plenty of time aside, but something in the back of his head told him he might have forgotten something.

But whatever it was, he was sure it could wait. He wasn’t getting out of this chair no matter who or what decided to bother him.

It was a pretty standard night at Gusept’s hive for them. They had spent some time bickering about nothing especially important, names were called, some minor roughhousing was involved, the usual flirtations. Currently, he was on his phone checking what places were close and open. He’d promised a dinner date, and it was better to get that ready sooner than later unless she wanted a romantic meal at Burger Emperor.

He was brought back to reality as he felt Setira’s hands on his cheeks pull his gaze up towards her, right before she planted a kiss on his lips. Then another. And another. While he was pretty annoyed at being pulled away from what he was doing, he would return the peppered kisses as best he could in the current situation, until she finally pulled away again.

“Geez...Interrupt a guy on his phone...Fucking rude.”

His tone was still mostly level, but there was an undeniable blush on his face as he said that.

This was the absolute last time that he was going to let Setira take him to a mystery date. A party was one thing, but a club? He couldn’t tell if she was deliberately fucking with him at this point or just that dumb. He didn’t like either answer.

He could barely hear himself think, let alone speak, and trying to hear anyone else speak? Forget it. And yet here they were, him managing to look as miserable as he could while she seemed to be at least having an okay time.

And as he was returning from the relative safety and quiet of the bathrooms (where the music was merely painfully loud instead of deafening), he got to see something even worse than two drunk trolls making out in a stall.

Someone was putting the moves on Setira. He didn’t have to be a lip reader to see what was going on. Probably some dickhead trying to be slick. But he could see her reaction just fine. He watched her cheeks puff out and turn bright blue as she got mad. Saw how she flashed them that same annoyed look that she always gave him when he was being a dick. Maybe it was just the night making him even pissier than normal, but it looked an awful lot like she might actually be flirting back.

Every second he watched their little scene, he could feel a familiar heat rise from his stomach to nearly burn his entire body, jaw clenched as he let out a low growl.

It seemed to only take a few steps for him to get behind them. In a way, it was funny. Normally he was almost always slouched or hunched over, but times like this, that extra inch or so of height as he stood up straight always seemed to make him loom over everyone else, at least metaphorically. The unfortunate troll seemed to feel that, turning to look at him over their shoulder, suddenly looking very nervous.

At least for the moment he could see before his fist collided with it. Before they could retaliate, Gusept grabbed them by the arm, flinging them against the wall their table was set against, turning away as they crumpled down to the floor. A pair of bouncers were already on the way to break up the mess, but he was already on his way out.

“Yeah fucking yeah, I’m going.”

He didn’t look back to see if Setira was following. She could go flirt with some other drunken asshole if that was how she wanted to act tonight.

Gusept wasn’t fond of parties. The music was usually too loud, his feet hurt after a while, and he could be at home playing video games instead. But noooo, Set had demanded he stop being a hermit for once.

He’d had a few drinks by now, mostly soda and a smattering of alcohol. Not enough to really get him drunk, but it at least made him think more about the awful taste than the awful party. Until he saw a familiar sight.

Someone trying to piss Set off. Romantically. Except not him.

With a dramatic sigh to nobody in particular, Gusept would push his way through the crowd towards Setira and the unnamed troll. They were currently in the middle of trying to show off to her; a perfect opportunity for him to muscle in. Quite literally.

He’d grab the other troll by the back of their shirt, hauling them up and twisting them around to face level, getting the full Neutral Face Of Annoyance.

“You’re annoying. Fuck off before I decide to see how far I can throw you out of here.”

After they scurried off, Gusept would spare her a Look, a wordless I Told You So.
