hello hello! i had the absolute fuckall busy 2days, hope u didnt mind the accidental ghosting. i kept wanting to reply but i was feeling too tired to do it lmao. hello! hope ur doing well! i absolutely love the word coinkydink btw, im stealing it thank u. the fact!!!!!!!! that u do music production!!!!!!!! so cool!!!! consider me amazed yayy. ive always been unhealthily obsessed with chan's vocals, seeing him sing, esp with as much love and enjoyment/passion as he does is chills inducing to me. and yeah!!! his skills are so impressive, esp 3racha with rockstar album i very much agree!! i still cant pick a favorite song, and its funny bcs that's seldom the case no matter how much i love the whole album. cover me was played a lot tho (i was soo proud of hyunjin!!) and their vocalss yess!! seungmin han i.n leeknow and then ofc chan felix hyunjin changbin, they all did such good jobs, and their voice shined a notch brighter yes!! (mildly obsessed everytime changbin sings btw i am a sucker for it) their vocal heavy songs have always been some of my beloved!!!! never-ending story that i never get enough of, levanter and in christmas evel the way 24-25 was my immediate favorite! skz and ballads is smth mind-scratchingly wonderful, like always. what are some of your other favorite kpop groups?? what genres do u like as well, like i really love and find myself obsessed with k-indie, if we are talking korean language songs? what kind of songs do u like and listen to!! just wanted to know more abt u as well!! esp now that ik u produce too!! and just wanted to say ur art!!!! its so amazing and gorgeous!! so talented!!

OMG YES Changbin’s voice is so good…why doesn’t he sing more it’s crazy…i have rewatched their conodoll episode a couple times because all their voices are just wonderful to listen to

i like 24-25 too! and that music video is just too sweet, it gave me cavities lmao. my fave kpop groups are skz, txt, and my OG (and forever) kpop band is shinee! i’ve been getting into xdinary heroes too. it seemed like everyone released amazing EPs this october-november, i was living for it. good music was raining down left and right.

i like so many genres in all languages! rock, punk, electronic, indie—i used to listen to a lot of k-indie (nell, the black skirts, the koxx, clazziquai) but now i don’t really know any more recent bands. i’d love to hear what your favorite songs/bands are!! i’m in a finding-new-music phase right now. i just found out about this new zealand band called the beths, their album “expert in a dying field” is a lyrical masterpiece.

[ My Jonas Brothers : Chasing Happiness Experience ]

introduction: if you know me, you know how much if a Jonas Brothers fan i am. yes, the first band i ever REALLY got into was The Beatles. but the Jonas Brothers was a boyband i really did fall in love with. we all had that one band from our childhood that switched everything up. mine were the Jonas Brothers. the way the directioners loved One Direction was my love for the Jonas Brothers. when i say “the boys,” i mean Nick, Kevin, and Joe. they’re my “the boys.” if that makes sense.

history: i remember the day i got into them. i was 10 years old and it was during the summertime. i had just finished watching ‘taking 5.’ a movie about the click five. the girls in the movie had posters and cut outs of the click five on their wall from posters and magazines. at that age, i was already collecting TigerBeat, Popstar!, J-14 magazines. i was too plugged in to the pop culture and the teeny bopper life. my dad was supportive. i was somewhat, inspired, when i watched that movie and checked out my magazines. i found the jonas brothers. i knew OF them and the song SOS and When You Look Me In The Eyes but nothing else. i had a personal computer in my room back then and newly plugged in internet connection. it started with music videos, and then the stupid videos they had on their yt channel, and i just couldn’t stop watching their videos. i watched all their live chats and interviews. i fell in love LIKE THAT. it was the first i ever obsessed about a boyband like this. a boyband in MY LEAGUE, you know what i mean? i obsessed over hannah montana and lizzie mcguire. but it wasn’t LIKE THIS. i grabbed my magazines and starting taping the Jonas posters on the walls. my routine was to watch all their videos everyday. i even went as far as reading fanfiction on youtube. YES. fanfiction USED to be on YOUTUBE. and that’s when crushes began. my bias was joe, at first, of course. then i slowly crept onto liking nick more. until he was my ACTUAL favorite. nick was my first love, i’m claiming it. the boy had me feeling ALL SORTS OF THINGS. the boy had me WRITING AT 11.

influence: they were a huge influence on me. other than taylor swift and my dad getting me to pick up a guitar and learning how to play it, the Jonas Brothers wanted me to fulfill the dream. their influence on me was HUGE. it was so big that they were my first fashion icons. i broke gender stereotypes (at least in my circle) at the age of 11, you guys. i wore skinny jeans, converse, collared shirts and neckties all the time. they had me wearing denim and corduroy and my parents were so into me being into fashion at that age cause they were all about that in their youth. i mastered dressing like a guy at the age of 11. it just became a thing growing up. cause that’s where i’m most comfortable. i remember when the JONAS show came out on disney channel and the first episode was of nick having a love interest, i cried.

other facts:

i collected all kinds of jonas brothers paraphernelia as a child.

other than the magazines, i had merch. i remember begging my mom to get me jonas brothers merch from their actual website. when she finally gave in, i was ecstatic.

i had a jonas brothers t shirt and a necklace (it was a guitar pick with their logo on it)

i also had a jonas brothers mp3 player that i bought when i was in tampa.

i’ve been to their first concert in the philippines. I REMEMBER HOW I TOLD MY PARENTS. i ran to them and said “THE JONAS BROTHERS ARE COMING HERE” and i didn’t even have to ask cause they already knew.

my bedroom walls were FILLED with their posters. i had over 150 posters on my walls.

i cut out their photos from magazines and covered my notebooks and pens with them. i sold a couple at school, too.

you caNT BELIEVE HOW MUCH I FREAKED OUT WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT CAMP ROCK. when it came out in the states, my dad bought a copy of the dvd and i was SO SO SO EXCITED. that’s why i love home made spaghetti so much because it was the meal i was eating when i watched camp rock in my old bedroom for the first time. i squealed half the time.

them being christian played such a big part in my life because my mom was a strict-ass hardcore christian. and since they wore purity rings, my mom got me a purity ring, too. at 11. which now, seems rather stupid. for me, at least.

nick jonas & the administration is still one of my favorite albums. HE REALLY DO BE MAKIN ME FEEL SOME TYPE OF WAY. for real though.

i really watched Married To Jonas, Kevin and Danielle’s reality show. it was NOT great but i watched it.

i even watched some of nick’s movies and i didn’t like any of them really but i enJOYED NICK’S SCREEN TIME

i did not really stray away from loving them. but i did turn into a teenager. i got into other things and gained a different circle of friends. it was different, okay? i couldn’t just be in love with a rock star anymore. HAHAHA. there were real life boys i kissed now. but still, i did not obsess over anything like that ever again.

the break up: i was in high school when they broke up. and even if i had not been keeping tabs on them and watching their every release, i cried really really fucking hard when they announced their break up. i cried so hard that i missed school that day. i was heart broken. and it might not make sense because they are brothers and they’ll really ~never~ break up, it still hurt.

when i found out about Chasing Happiness, i was stoked. of course, i already knew they had returned back together as the Jonas Brothers. after all the experimenting with other things, they really did return to their roots.

okay so basically, it was a ride of emotions.

it really was though. i also felt like i time travelled. LITERALLY. it felt like i was in my old room again watching the Jonas Brothers on old YouTube. you know. before google bought the damn thing. but for real, it felt that way. it felt like i was reconnecting with my old self, too. the 10 year old me.

no, wait. even better. it felt like i was reuniting with old friends. the scene when the 3 of them were just drinking and reminiscing and confessing about the old times was so intimate that i felt like i was there. everything they talked about (except for hating each other and how they ACTUALLY broke up), i knew about. they were my whole life back then, really. it really felt like a reunion. like them getting back together meant we were getting back together. the love for the Jonas Brothers. my fangirling over them. god, it sounds so cheesy when i say it out loud. but it really does feel like that.

it was so familiar and so foreign to me at the same time. they talked about everything they used to never talk about back then. they just let it out in the open, really. and i saw how much they’ve grown. and i saw how much i’ve grown. how i am far from who i was at 10 years old.

but when they sang ‘please be mine’ along with the old video of them singing it, i felt myself reconnecting with my younger self. i felt her smile at me and hold my hand telling me that the good will always resurface. and fuck yeah, i got that out of the Jonas Brothers. they’re the part of me that remains innocent. they’re a part of me that remains untouched and untampered with. because my heart was whole when i loved them first. and i think it’ll remain that way.

it hit me harder than i thought it would. and i knew it would hit me. the documentary, i mean. it was beautiful. downright, beautiful. they’re a huge part of who i am today. and i am so so so proud of that.

Ok - Folklore single predictions/partial album review

The following are my 3x hopeful guesses for future singles from the album, i can also see reasons not to choose these particular ones for commercial radio but I also see a lot of positive reasons for doing it!

invisible string:

This song presents a happy folk vibe, which contrasts the first release, 'cardigan' and supports the overall vibes of 'folklore' itself.

Vocally and lyrically this song is a real earworm type that doesn't get old or repetitive with repeat listens. The vocals are pretty, addictive to sing along to, and we can't forget about those damn key changes.

Overall as quaint and simple as this tune is, it shows a lot for her evolution and versatility vocally and lyrically. (Which says a lot for a girl who joined the Songwriters Hall of Fame a decade ago at the age of twenty. Look at her go!!)

I mean, the way she sings "Now I send their babies presents"!! And "TIME, wondrous time" ahhhhh

betty:

Incredible early days Taylor vibes, just the kind of heart-belting happy country jam that helped win over all our hearts 14 years ago and propel her into fame. This is the song you cant help but yell along to in the car like youre the one on Betty's doorstep proclaiming your love. Real 'crying out the lyrics to You Belong With Me' vibes. Its 2008 all over again, in the best way possible.

'betty' is very catchy, and like i said above about invisible string, gets in your head without getting old because of the lyrical switch up, the instrumental switch up, the BRIDGE, the 2nd version of the chorus after that bridge oh man this is one to love.

seven:

This song is very vocally and melodically unique from anything we have seen from Taylor before, and is a clear stand out from the album. Tells a beautiful story, has verses that differentiate musically from the chorus so much, yet work SO consistently.

Among my first few listens of this song, the beginning of the song is an instant attention drawing sound, gorgeous vocally, and remniscent of the jarringly unique sound of instantly recognisable one hit wonders that are still so so so good when you randomly hear them on the radio no matter how many handfuls of years its been since the song first became popular.

Again, several reasons I can see these not making it to the radio (moreso the second and third) but I think it would be a real shame not to showcase these gems.

OTHER potential choices i think she may make:

mirrorball, this is me trying Or the last great american dynasty although I really don't know how that would go, based on critics and non-regular Taylor listeners initial reactions to all the songs on the album

My FaVOURITE on the whole album is 'peace' which i did not include in this list because a). Its so intimate, beautiful and one of the songs that I have to stop everything im doing to listen to when it comes on, b). It is a truly special song to be savoured rather than shared with the masses and listened to over and over. This is my crying at the sunset in a forest or on a farm song, this is everything to me. Im not sure a song has ever evoked such emotions in me. Certainly never by a song by a mainstream artist, until this point even though I have loved Taylor since day one. Twice now it has come on while I'm driving and I have ended up bawling happy-sad tears both times which is, quite frankly, very dangerous but so worth it. Im sososososososo stoked it is getting the love and appreciation it deserves!!

DEATHSTARS - currently in the studio and reunited with Cat Casino

Sweden's death glam sensation DEATHSTARS – who chose to take a break in 2015 – are happy to announce that they are currently in the studio recording their 5th full-length album which is scheduled to be released in early 2020 via Nuclear Blast. The band has also reunited with their guitarist Cat Casino, a key character in the history of the band. Cat, who lately has been writing, producing and playing lead guitar for Hank von Helvete (Ex-Turbonegro), originally joined DEATHSTARS for the Termination Bliss tours in 2006, but left after the excessive touring in 2011 and 2012 because of personal reasons. Right now we are... I am most excited about wrapping up work on a lot of new tracks that fit my sonic vision and then releasing them in the spring along with following them up with a whole new and exciting batch! I also very excited about possibility being able to perform live this spring, summer, and fall which I am totally stoked about. One of my favorite things to do is perform live on stage and interact with the crowd and see how my music moves them. Will and if things are finalized I excitedly share the details.

INTERVIEW WITH BROADSIDE - “WE’RE GOOFY GUYS BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, WE’RE ALSO WEIRD DEEP ARTSY GUYS.”

Last night in London, Broadside had their first headline show and it sold out. I interviewed them before their show about their recent album, “Paradise”, projects outside of the band (including Dorian announcing something) and, comparing their band to McDonald's and sour cake.

So today is the beginning of your first UK headliner, how are you feeling?Ollie: I’m excited, it’s going to be a good time, a nice sweaty time. Dorian: Tonight is sold out which is cool and tomorrow night is apparently sold out too which is really neat. It’s kind of cool that we did a smaller venue just because the intimate setting and being able to have a room packed and have the energy up the whole time is really sick.

Yeah, today is quite a small venue but are there any other places in the UK you want to headline that are bigger? Pat: I want to headline The Underworld Ollie: Yeah I want to sell it out The Underworld is definitely one of those venue that everyone loves Ollie: It’s not too posh and it’s real as well. It’s just a really well-rounded place. Pat: It’s just shitty enough to not make it the high end of shitty Dorian: Exactly, the perfect amount of shitty. It’s in a nice location too. True, since it’s in the middle of Camden. It's close to Temple Of Seitan too which is always great. Pat: Oh yeah, now that’s there too! Ollie: Oooooohh baby, I love food. And cyber dog is wild.Dorian: How do I get a job a dancing? Ollie: You don’t even paint your finger nails black you’re definitely not getting the job there.Dorian: Oh man!

Last week was your first time playing Slam Dunk, how did that go? Pat: It was an experience. We’ve played warped tour before and a bunch of festivals but this was another level Dorian: The same thing that happen to us during the first time we played warped tour happened to us at slam dunk but just a lot more. We expected maybe 40 people to sing a word or three and then a sea of people were there and we were just like “Why are you here? State Champs are on in 20 minutes, seriously, what are you doing here?” Ollie: I paid them all to be there. Nobody’s a fan of music, people get payed to show up. Trust me. Dorian: That’s right, going to concerts is their job.Is that all bands or just you guys because nobody likes your music? Pat: It’s true for us at least Ollie: Just the best bands. I can’t speak for anyone other than us and Marilyn Manson but that’s the case for both of us.When are you paying me for being at your gigs then? Dorian: We already paid you, what are you talking about?

How was Slam Dunk comparable to playing Warped Tour two years ago? Did you pay people to go to your sets there too? Dorian: Well now I’m curious as to how warped tour is going to go because Slam Dunk is going to be hard to beat. That was absolutely insanity. So, I think as of now, as far as festivals go that’s been the best. Pat: It will be easier to compare once we do Warped this year because we’ve grown in the two years it’s been since we’ve done Warped so it will be interesting to see how it goes after this. Moving on to talking about your album “Paradise”, there was a theme in the lyrics about perseverance. Was that something you had in mind before you started writing? Ollie: With this album we wanted to write a poppy and uplifting sounding album but put some serious songs in there too. That’s just how Broadside is. We’re goofy guys but at the end of the day we’re also weird deep artsy guys. So we were just trying to put both efforts into that and we wanted to write an album for the people who care about us and that would directly relate to them. Obviously not everyone’s in a band and not everyone’s saying shit that people want to hear. They’re just saying things that are safe so we wanted to write an album that sonically is fun but if people want to dive past that, there’s substance there. Pat: Also, I think the poppy aspect of it will make it easier for people to listen to but the more they do, they’ll be like “Oh I’ll read the lyrics instead of just listening without paying attention” Dorian: It’s a trick. Like cake that’s sour on the inside. Ollie: We’re like McDonalds. It’s red and you’re like “OH MCDONALDS!” but then you feel miserable after. That’s what we are. Pat: What???I think that’s just you Ollie. Dorian: Yeah, you’re happy when you’re eating it but then sad when you’re done. Ollie: Yeah see, he gets it. Read a book Pat.

The last song on Paradise, “I Love You, I Love you. It’s Disgusting”, is completely different to anything else you’ve released. How did that come about? Ollie: I like cute stuff, I like couples I love romance I like the beach, and I had a ukulele lying around my apartment. I’ve always wanted to write a love song and I thought it would be cute to have a sort of beachy love song. People find elements of our music as “their” love songs but I Love You is a true love song in its purity. It’s just a straight up “hey man I’m in love and I’m feeling good” which is also the type of song that people end up regretting later. I listen to a lot of my favourite bands who say, “yeah I wrote this song about my ex-wife and now im fucking miserable and everyone loves it”. But you know what? “I Love You I Love You. It’s Disgusting” is CUTE… for now. Dorian: That was a lot of fun to write and it was cool because it was outside of our element because we always stick to guitars and “vroom vroom” noises so it was cool to slow down and mess with new chords and ideas.

Do you think you’ll have more songs like that on next album like that, or stick to you “vroom vroom” sound? Ollie: That’s a good question. I think we’re still trying to figure that out. Dorian: It will change the second we start writing. We love different styles and sounds every five seconds so we’ll see where we end up. Although, the new stuff we’re doing is also outside of our comfort zone a little bit and we’re excited about that.

Ollie has his solo project, Baxxter, and also writes outside of the band. Dorian and Pat, do you think you’ll end up doing something separate too or will you concentrate on Broadside? Pat: I’m going to put all my efforts into broadside because I’m not creative enough to think of anything else. Dorian: that’s not true. You came up with a smart way to hang the banner up just now.

You can be a professional banner hanger! Pat: …but that would be for the band. Dorian: This is also for the band, but you do have creative ways to wrangle everyone’s thoughts and say “hey guys, here’s a simple solution”. We’re all like “hey we should do this” “we should go here” “let’s go visit the Eiffel Tower” and Pat’s like “hey, here’s a list of things we’ll do. Pick.” Ollie: I can always count on Pat when I’m hungry and I’m like “Pat, tell them we need to eat”. And he’s like “HEY we need to go fucking eat. It’s feeding time, Ollie’s a baby”. Pat’s really funny too. So what I’m getting here is that you can be a personal assistant and a comedian. Pat: Yeah so no, I don’t think I’ll do anything else. Dorian: Well actually, I’m the vocalist of another band now. It’s with a bunch of friends because they ran into a situation, so I said I’d fill in and it ended up pretty cool. We’re dropping a single in three days

Oh really? What genre will that be? Dorian: it’s pretty, pop-punk stuff. Pat: I think it sounds like All Time Low Dorian: Does it? It sounds like all time low then, Sweet. But yeah, it’s cinematic stuff and it’s cool because when we started working with those guys it opened everyone’s mind into different directions because it provides different perspectives on areas that we can take this band as well. Like with Ollie’s solo stuff, we’ve started incorporating ideas from that into this band to experiment and become better creatives.So now Pat can hang banners for your band too. Maybe you can have Broadside headline with Baxxter and Dorian’s new band as support acts.

Ollie: Honestly that’s not a bad idea, we’ll have a lot of fun but we’ll just be really tired. Pat: I’ll tell you what, you guys can open and I’ll do a comedy set, and THEN broadside. Yeah fuck every other band. Ollie: Yeah it will just be us, we can kick out the rest of the band because they’re irrelevant. Pat: No, Jeff can do sound and Dom will do merch. Dorian: Jeff can do sound and pyro for your comedy set. So other than your comedy tour, what’s happening after you leave the UK?Dorian: We’re going to do some writing so we’re pretty excited about that and then we have warped tour coming up. Very stoked about that. We have something lined up for the fall so we’ll see how that goes and then we’ll hit up the studio. I’m looking forward to that! Are there any last words you want to say quickly?Ollie: Make our band famous. Pat: If anyone knows how to equate people in a crowd to merch sold, let us know. Dorian: I’ll also like to specifically thank London for being the first show we’ve ever headlined. We’ve never headlined a tour before which is crazy to think about, but we sold out our favourite city on planet earth so thank you for all the love and support.
