I am tagging @maailmaonsun, @dunedjarin & @vinylchemist, feel free to do it if you feel like it! Sending you hugs and lots of warmth, I hope your 2021 will be a great year to you 🥰
Rules: answer the questions about 2020 and tag some people to pass it on!
5 favourite films you watched in 2020:
This is a compilation has no particular order, but I did love them all.
The Theory of Everything - I was a bit late to the party, but this movie was something special
The Gentlemen - this movie has it all, a great piece of entertainment
What Happened, Miss Simone? - such a powerful piece
Age of Adaline - I adore everything about this movie, even with many medical inaccuracies
Happiest Season - because who doesn’t love a lesbian Christmas movie after the hardest year to date
5 favourite tv shows you watched in 2020:
This year tv shows were the main coping mechanism and I’m not even sorry about it.
Killing Eve - do I need to say more?
Haunting of Bly Manor -  Dani and Jamie are the blueprint, I love them with my whole heart
Dead to me - this was my comfort show for the majority of 2020
The Playbook: Coach’s rules for life - related to the subject of my studies, really helped me to come up with my own coaching philosophy
Grey’s Anatomy - yes, really, I rewatched the whole thing 2 times this year
5 favourite songs you listened to in 2020:
Spotlight by Jessie Ware - this songs takes me to another dimension, I love the ambience, it was also a song my friends called the ultimate aesthetic of mine
III by Foster The People - it’s one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life, my heart belongs to that song
Sao Paolo by Lapti - the ultimate song for chilling, road trips, cooking and everything in between
Dog Years by Maggie Rogers - personal favourite for the 2nd year in a row, if I would ever describe my attachment style or love languages I would use this song
seven by Taylor Swift - it was a song that made me realise certain childhood behaviours, it always makes me tear up and it is special, will always be
Top 5 albums of 2020:
What’s your pleasure? by Jessie Ware - she has always been my favourite, and this album is truly something else. Best record of 2020, no doubt about it
- Ugh, those feels again by Snoh Alegra - she’s been my biggest discovery of 2020 and I’m so happy I found her
Fine Line by Harry Styles - he is my sweetheart, this album was definitely one of my most listened
The S(EX) Tapes by FLETCHER - a queer breakup album? It’s everything I never knew I needed
Iridescent by Ayoni - such a wonderful vibe, 10/10
Top 5 books you read in 2020:
2020 was definitely not a reading year for me and I can openly admit it, although there were some pieces I will treasure for a long time
The Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus - I love this man’s writing, it has been a favourite for a long time, but I kept coming back to this one to find the meaning for all that has happened
The Rebel by Albert Camus - yes. another one from him. just because.
Becoming by Michelle Obama - this is a Michelle Obama stan Tumblr
The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth - being gay and coming from a Catholic background made this read a hard one, but worth it
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt - Donna Tartt, that is all.
How did you spend your birthday this year?
I spent it with my best friend, we went hiking, we had tacos & margaritas. It was a nice relief and an escape from the pandemic reality. It felt great. I also had a small family celebration later that weekend.
What was your most memorable day this year?
Getting into the sports coaching school. I came home from the office I had an internship, I was tired, I was in a crisis//survival mode, I was tired of business, of who I was. My life had little to no meaning anymore. I was a robot, I thought the world has very little to offer. Then I suddenly got an e-mail I got in. The entire world turned upside down. I am happier, I glow here, I belong here. It makes me cry having to think about it. It was the biggest blessing of 2020, hands down.
What was your most memorable meal you had this year?
There were many, but I think the most memorable and meaningful one was when my best friend baked a Ukrainian cheesecake and embraced her heritage. Also, making hummus with my new flatmates after moving to the dorm was a big one. Also, shakshuka became my comfort meal of the year.
Did you find any new hobbies or interests in quarantine?
Quite some, yes! I started paining again, I became a plant mom and a gardening expert, I grew my own cucumbers and tomatoes. I started baking again and make aesthetic moodboards on Pinterest getting pretty big following!  It’s one of my favourite spare time activities now!
What was the last big event/thing you remember doing BC (before covid)?
Going clubbing with my friends, I miss going out and dancing my heart out.
5 good/positive things that happened to you in 2020:
Getting into my dream school!!!! I will be a sports performance coach, it still feels like an actual dream
Going to therapy and dealing with personal problems, it was one of the best decision of my life
Coming out to myself and living my truth
Losing the feeling of having to prove things to people
Learning that I can’t control everything and that it is okay. Life goes on. And it gets better.
Biggest messages or lessons learnt from this year?
Life can change within seconds, everything flows and goes, it in constant movements. Your inner critic lies, it will be okay and you will find yourself, find your heart. Love is loud. Love is beautiful, love makes the world go round. Growth is hard, overwhelmingly hard, but it is so so so so worth it. Magic happens everyday. Your gut knows, trust it. Protecting your peace is crucial for your sanity.
And what are you most looking forward to in 2021?
Living, simple as that. For me 2021 will be the year of presence - wherever I’ll be, I will be fully there.

Refuge- Chapter 5
Cathy is getting to know more of her housemates, finding happiness in her new home.
Links to: Chapter 1  Chapter 2  Chapter 3  Chapter 4
WC: 2310
A few days had passed since Joan had joined the household and she really hadn’t come out of her room since then. And since then, Jane had been downstairs in the living room quite a lot more, either reading or doing her homework. She was much more quiet these days, it was like some threatened the part she played and now she was playing it cool. Cathy had observed that Jane would always take a plate upstairs after dinner, no doubt giving it to Joan and then bringing an empty plate down after most of the girls had gone to bed.
Thankfully Saturday had rolled around and the collective household of ten were all doing their own things. Bessie and Maria were out in the back field that went into a forest with a stream, looking for tadpoles and other aquatic life. They always seemed to love anything that could swim as far as Cathy could tell. Catalina was busy gardening with Helen, both wearing thick gloves and hats to protect them from the sun as they worked.
Anna was busy collecting firewood for the fire she insisted on having that night, so that the family could have a little cookout and roast marshmallows. Cathy was settled on a lounge chair on the back porch as she read The Republic. It was a peaceful day as Cathy felt the breeze blowing against her book pages. It felt so normal to be living this life, that this felt okay, she was happy here. She was happy for the first time in a very long time, it felt so good.
She continued her reading for a while as she heard the screen door squeak open as Cathy glanced up to see Joan standing in the doorway. The girl’s hair was tied back into a single braid, her face ghostly pale as she’d been in a room for a few days and not really being outside. Joan’s eyes found Cathy’s and she quickly glanced down so she wouldn’t be caught staring. “I’m Joan.” the girl says softly as Cathy raises her eyes once again.
“Cathy, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” Cathy replies as Joan nods her head a bit.
“What are you reading?” Joan asks, as Cathy tilted the book back, showing the title of the novel to Joan, as the girl nodded her head once again. “Do you like reading?” Cathy questions as Joan’s eyes scanned the backyard, stopping on Maria and Bessie as the two wadded through the water, Bessie splashing at Maria a bit before starting a splashing battle between the two. Joan cracked a small smile at the duo as she looked over Cathy, a confused look on her face. “I’m sorry, what did you ask me?”
“Do you like reading?” Cathy repeats as she gives Joan a gentle smile.
“A little, I like music better.” Joan replies as Cathy’s smile begins to grow a bit. She recalled something that the family kept downstairs. “Could I show you something?” Cathy asks as Joan nods her head as Cathy bookmarks her novel and leads Joan down to the finished basement that doubled as a lounge since the girls all liked to watch movies down there. Along with the television, beanbags, and couches, there was also a keyboard propped up against the wall. Cathy knew it’d been unused a while since it’d been in the same place since she came to the house. Joan followed behind Cathy cautiously and stopped in her tracks as she saw the keyboard, her eyes lighting up at the sight.
Cathy got it settled on the floor and found an outlet to pull in the instrument, it lit up right away as Joan moved in front of the keyboard, kneeling as she looked over the controls as Cathy sat beside her. The blonde began to play a few chords and Cathy smiled a bit as Joan began to play the tune to London Bridges are falling down. “My dad bought me one of these for my tenth birthday.” Joan says quietly as she pressed one key down a few times as the device began to work like normal again.
“I’m guessing you know what happened to me.” Joan breathed as she pulled her hands away from the keyboard, like it had caught fire. “I don’t.” Cathy answers as Joan glances over at her and nods her head a bit. “Do you know what happened to me?” Cathy asks as Joan shakes her head in response. Cathy took a breath as she thought about how she hadn’t told any of the girls what happened to her. “My dad had a heart attack and my mom lost it, so at ten, I was in my first foster home.” Cathy explains as Joan looks over at her in shock.
“How old are you?” Joan asks.
“Fifteen now.” Cathy replies. “And you?”
“Fifteen.” Joan started to play chord again slowly, as she thought for a moment, “My father had a drinking problem, and he killed my mom and tried to do the same to me, but I ran to the neighbors and they called the police and here I am.”
“My mom had a drinking problem too.” Cathy says, “How long have you been in the system?”
“How long have I been here?” Joan asks as she gives Cathy a side glance.
“Four days.” Cathy answers.
“Four days and one night then.” Joan swallows as Cathy scrunches her eyebrows, realizing that what had happened to Joan, had just happened less than a week ago. That the drinking of her father wasn’t a distant memory, but it is fresh in her mind. She felt for her as Joan started to play London Bridge is Falling Down once again, realizing that she’d made it awkward for her and Cathy.
“I’m not sure if Helen has any sheet music, but we ask about ordering some.” Cathy says as Joan looks up at her hopeful.
“I’d like that a lot.” Joan nods as Cathy smiles, “Can you tell me about the other girls?” Cathy then thought for a moment, she didn’t fully know the rest of the girls since she’d only grown close to a few in her first week or so living in the house. “Let’s see, there’s Maggie, I share a room with her, she’s really nice and she can help you with literally homework, she’s really smart. She’s sixteen.”
Joan nods her head as she listens, not playing the keyboard anymore as she echoes, “Maggie.” Clearly trying to remember all of the girls' names as Cathy says them. “Then there’s Bessie, she’s twelve. She’s quite funny and she says the best jokes. Then there’s Maria, she’s thirteen, she’s a sweetheart, and she’s really amazing at drawing and is best friends with Bessie. Then there’s Katherine but I know she prefers to be called Kat, she’s the same age as Maria, I don’t know her as well as the other girls. Anna is sixteen and she’s quite funny as well, she really loves the outdoors and a good prank. Catalina is seventeen, she’s the oldest in the house, I don’t really hang out with her much but she’s really nice. And there’s Anne, she’s completely deaf but she has hearing aids but she doesn’t really wear that at home, but I can help with signs if you wanna learn in the future. She’s sixteen as well.”
Cathy explained the girls and what they were like as Joan listened carefully, getting to know her housemates as she looked over at Cathy. “You didn’t say anything about Jane.”
“I don’t know her that well either, but I know she’s sixteen. She doesn’t really get along with the other girls, she thought my name was Carter.” Cathy says as Joan chuckles to herself, which made Cathy laugh a bit as well. The two hung out in the basement for a while as Joan played other pieces from her memory. It was a peaceful Saturday afternoon as no doubt, Maria and Bessie were caught after soaking each other in the creek by Helen and being sent in the house to get changed so they wouldn’t catch a cold. So the peace was quickly distrubed by the two girls running into the house, Helen shouting after them to not get water all over the place.
Joan ended up going back upstairs to her room after Maria and Bessie went back outside as Cathy went to find her book, as she found Kat reading the book, her bookmark still in the right place as Kat glanced up at her with an apologetic look. “Oh I’m sorry, is this your book? It looked really good.” Kat says.
“It’s quite good, it’s a bit of a hard read. Is there anything hard to understand?” Cathy asks, smiling a bit since not many people enjoyed reading Plato anymore.
Kat shook her head as she gently closed the book, handing it back to Cathy who tucked her book under her arm. “I have another copy if you’d like to borrow.” Cathy suggests.
“Really?” Kat asks.
“Yeah, it’s up in my room. Come on, we can go get it and we can talk about it once we’re both done reading it.” Cathy replies as Kat follows her upstairs, as Cathy looks through her stack of books, the one she was reading was from the library but it turns out that Catalina had one from an online college course she’d taken and she didn’t want it anymore so Cathy took it off her hands. She gave Kat the copy from Catalina, retrieving the thirteen year old, a bookmark as well so she wouldn’t have to dog ear the book. Kat looked up at Cathy with a grin as she took the book, finding about where she’d been in the other copy, and bookmarking it.
“Thank you, I’ll return it to you once I’m done.” Kat says, “And I’d love to talk about it once we’re done reading.”
“Good, good. Let me know how far you get at dinner.” Cathy replies as Kat nods her head before slipping away to her room, Cathy then settling herself by the window as she continues to read her book, wanting to make sure she didn’t take too long to finish the book since Kat seemed excited to talk about. She had a few other books she knew were at the library and she figured that she could get them after they finished this book since Kat seemed to like reading as much as her. It was crazy how little knew she knew about Kat, especially since she was the first girl that she saw when she moved into the house.
Hell all she knew that Kat was suspended from school for a week and that was about all she knew about the girl. And she seemed so sweet that Cathy wasn’t even sure of what she could’ve done. She wasn’t going to push it but maybe Maggie knew and luckily her roommate came in about a half hour after Kat had left to her own room. Maggie had been doing some flower pressing on the front steps all day and boy did she forget to wear sunscreen, she looked a lot like a lobster.
“Ever heard of sunscreen?” Cathy asks as she glances up at Maggie who sighed, already putting aloe on her burnt shoulders. “I honestly didn’t think I was going to burn that easily.” Maggie replies, “I mean I usually don’t.”
“So what you’re saying is that you usually wear sunscreen.” Cathy replies and Maggie rolls her eyes as Cathy finally adds, “I have a question about Kat.”
“What about her?” Maggie asks as she sits herself down on her own bed, looking over at Cathy who’s still sitting by the window. “Why did she get suspended?” Cathy questions.
“Well I don’t think it’s that bad at all, I mean he had it coming.” Maggie shrugs as Cathy looks at her confused, before Maggie continues, “Oh I forgot to say it. Some asshole grabbed her and she socked him in the nose and she got suspended for a week and nothing happened to the boy. She’s really sweet trust me, but she went into a fight or flight situation.” Maggie explains as it finally made sense to Cathy. There was no way that Kat’s kindness was just a show, she was just defending herself.
“Well that’s messed up that he didn’t get punished.” Cathy states, shutting her book and crossing her arms.
“She broke his nose, and Catalina gave her twenty bucks. Helen is taking it to the school board and she didn’t even ground Kat since she was protecting herself.”
“Wow that’s crazy, but damn I’m glad that Kat broke his nose.” Cathy says.
“Me too, I wish I had seen it. Well then again I would’ve kicked his ass, no one hurts my sisters.” Maggie informs her.
“Sisters?” Cathy asks, not being aware that Maggie had any sisters.
“Cath, if you live in this house, you have a whole band of sisters behind you and I, myself, personally, will do anything to protect my sisters.” Maggie explains as a smile grew on Cathy’s face, having never had a sister before.
“That’s really good to know.” Cathy smiles.
“Is there someone’s ass I need to kick?” Maggie asks, raising an eyebrow.
“No, not at all. It’s just good to have sisters.” Cathy grins as she settles herself back to reading her book. She was an only child for her whole life and her previous foster siblings never felt like family but these girls felt like it to her as she smiles to herself. She continued to read her book, hoping to be done by next week so that she and Kat could talk about sooner rather than later and maybe start a new book.

The Weekly Rundown (10/07/18-10/13/18)
Sorry so late! I’m getting caught up on articles. Almost there :) Time to rundown what I’m watching, loving, hating and everything in between! Spoilers ahead!
God Friended Me (”The Good Samaritan”)
Confession time: I didn’t pay very close attention to this week’s episode, but Miles and Cara continue to be adorable. Pretty sure I ship it.
Manifest (”Turbulence”)
I’m not really feeling the chemistry between Josh Dallas and Athena Karkanis. However, the chemistry between  Melissa Roxburgh and JR Ramirez is smoldering.
Josh Dallas is my blue eye baby who makes me feel all the things. He conveyed so many emotions without saying a word in the scene where Ben and Grace discussed the man in her life. WOW!
I want to believe Grace is in love with Ben and not Danny (because it's Josh Dallas and that's all the reason she needs), but I'm not buying it... yet
The whole twins being different ages is a never ending mind bender.
Seriously though what did Ben do for a living?
The Gifted (“coMplications”)
All I want is for Marcos to hold Dawn forever and snuggle with Lorna. Why can’t I have the things that I want?
But seriously though these Marcos and baby scenes are killing me.
Marcos fighting the Frost sister’s mind control was amazing. He was ready to tear everything apart to get his Lorna and his baby. SO HOT.
Andy, buddy what are you doing? Sure, they gave you a better hair cut and cool clothes, but Reeva is crazy. Tell me you know that boy!
I’m having trouble understanding why Reed didn’t want to tell his wife and daughter his powers were coming back. He has two mutant children! They tried to equate Lauren’s fear of “coming out” to Reed’s but it’s just not the same. He was her parent and he hunted mutants. She legitimately feared her father’s rejection. Reed isn’t in the same situation at all and I see no reason to for him to be lying to everyone for months.
Kate hugs Reed once he tells her the truth, which is nice, but were we really expecting her to reject him? Did the writers forget they have two mutant children?
The Gifted blew past all the build up to Clarice and John’s relationship and now they’ve sewn the seeds for the break up - in the third episode. This whole “Clarice is a spy for the Erg and lies to John about it” storyline is only going one place. John is doing his fair share of lying and pushing Clarice away. Needless to say I am unhappy with how this relationship is being handled.
F.B.I. (“Green Birds” and  “Prey”)
Finally got caught up on F.B.I. I thought “Prey” was a much stronger episode than “Green Birds.”
I am so glad they cast Sela Ward! I love her. Her character is much more likable as Maggie and Omar’s boss.
I’m here for Omar doing hot things because Omar is hot. I feel warm every time he talks about his military experience.
Still a little iffy about this show, but I’ll stick with it for now.
This Is Us (Katie Girls)
The depth of my hate for Jack's father knows no bounds.
"Or you can stay and I'll kill him." Honestly, I was okay with that option too Jack.
Randall is a mess watching his brother's movie and I stan this bromance so hard.
I am really freaking glad Randall is taking Kate on because I AM SO MAD AT HER.
Well that conversation swerved quickly. Stay on point Randall.
Okay well now we're off on a whole other thing and Kate is crying. Good grief children.
Not sure how Randall & Kate's discussion became a fight about adoption. The point was to discuss Kate's insensitivity regarding her remark about being the only person able to pass on Jack's genes. How did she turn it into Randall's insensitivity about her miscarriage?
Beth, Miguel and Toby having a group text to discuss their messed up in laws is AMAZING.
Randall is terrible at apologizing but also WHY IS HE APOLOGIZING?
I'm trying to hang with my girl Kate here. I've had a miscarriage and it's devastating, but your personal pain is not an excuse to be hurtful to others. Understanding where Randall was coming from was not a long bridge to cross.
I am so relating to Kevin putting the pieces together regarding Jack's service.
Beth got fired? NOOOOOO. My Beth!
Toby's reaction to Randall showing up was gold.
KATE AND JACK ARE DREAM SEQUENCING AND I AM NOT OKAY. Btw Jack could you advise Kate to stop being such a jackass to Randall? Thanks bro.
Awkward Rebecca and Jack is the worst. You are soul mates kids. Get it together.
Jack wants to marry you Rebecca and have lots and lots of babies. You are his dream.
I hope Randall and Beth have 9 months of savings. Suze Orman says you need 9 months of savings.
Marriage is never 50/50. But I think Beth and Randall have been going 90/10 for awhile and it's time for that ratio to shift.
I love how the writers find commonality in their characters in ways you never thought of before. Randall and Toby sharing their struggles with depression and anxiety was such a beautiful way to bond these characters
Kate wanted to marry Mark Paul Gosselar. Same girl.
"You came across the country to say you are sorry. That's the most Dad move ever." HELLO KATE. NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN. You could have added that he didn't need to apologize and you are the one who is sorry but I don't want to editorialize too much. Carry on.)
Rebecca pulled a Jack Pearson on Jack Pearson. EPIC.
Marry you the man who does dishes.
A Million Little Things (”Save The Date”)
HOLY. FREAKING. CRAP. THEY. ALL. FOUND. OUT. That was fast y’all! Wow!
If we’re blowing past the big affair secret does that mean we’ll find out the reason John killed himself? It’s an annoying mystery. Cough up the answers, show.
All the awards to Grace Park. She’s been sadly under utilized on this show until now and boy did she come out swinging. The scenes where she confronts Eddie and Delilah were amazing.
I cheered when Grace slapped Eddie. I have no sympathy for him. He’s cheating because his wife is gone at work all the time? It’s called a mortgage jackass. Guitar lessons aren’t going to get it done.
It irritates me when people act like they have no choice in who they sleep with. Eddie is walking around like falling in love with Delilah was an accident. Listen pal you are a grown ass man. You made choices. Own it. Cheating is such a mean thing to do.  Nobody is forcing anyone to stay in these marriages. Get a divorce before you go hopping into bed with someone else.
I’m only slightly less angry with Delilah but that’s only because her husband jumped off a building. Her scene where she screams to friends to ask if she was the reason John killed himself was gutting. Guit is a bitch.
By the way, even if Jon made his peace with the affair it doesn’t make the affair okay. Also, nobody asked for Katherine’s opinon. Pretty sure she’d tell everyone where to stick if if they’d did though.
I feel like Gary is representing the audience in this episode, i.e. me. I don’t think the writers needed to muddy the water with Gary’s issues with marriage, his parents divorce and his birthday. I understand Jon and Delilah were his shining example of marriage bliss, but we didn’t need to make this about his childhood trauma. His anger was warranted by itself. Delilah and Eddie did an awful thing.
We need to move it along with Maggie’s storyline. She’s the friends-with-benefit-rando-friend-everyone-just-met-but-pretend-like-they’ve-known-her-since-always. Her impermanence in all of these people’s lives makes the level she’s included in things... odd. Let’s get the cancer out in the open and solidify her relationships - particularly with Gary.
Blindspot (“Hella Duplicitous”)
Jane's hair is long. That's how ya know she's evil again
Seriously how do they not know Remi is back? She's so cranky. Jane is much more cheerful. Also, I feel like her voice is three octaves lower.
Remi can fight with samurai swords. Who knew? A list of all of her skills would be great.
Do I call her Remi or Jane y'all? I'm going with Remi for now.
Remi's impression of Jane being worried about Kurt was pretty spot on. Well played evil one.
Anyone else enjoying Remi looking all murdery every time anyone mentions Roman is dead? Same girl. Except I'm sad Luke Mitchell isn't on the show anymore not murdery because that'd be weird.
Jane's dying except she's Remi so like that's a double dose of suck.
Oh score. Cure. This is like Elena being vampire. They'll fix it. I ain't worried. Imma gonna get Jeller babies. Or should I say PLEEEEEEEEEASE give me Jeller babies.
OH MY GOD SHE'S HALLUCINATING ROMAN. Luke Mitchell IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so here for Roman being the crazy voice in Jane/Remi's head.
Sorry Remi. Your super evil terrorist group is canceled. Sorry not sorry girl. Watch Season 1-Season 3 and catch up girl.
Two Sandstorm operatives is more like a club than a terrorist group, but okay Remi. Gotta start somewhere I guess.
It's weird that the cure is re-erasing Remi's memories but also let's re-erase Remi's memories. I ain't a fan.
Damn. Blake is dead? That... was unexpected. Okay so now I'm imagining that Blake and Roman are happy in heaven together. Leave me to my dream.
Kurt is scared... I love you my cupcake.
Wiping her memory and meeting Kurt Weller was the best thing that ever happened to Remi because she's not nice and Jane is awesome. Kudos to Blindspot for reinforcing their central love story while also wreaking absolute havoc on it.
Is Zapata evil now? Is everybody evil now?
Weitz is director. Ugh.
"You can't keep watching me all the time." Girl, he does that when you are totally healthy. Kurt Weller giving Jane fuzzy bunny stares is the show. Seriously, someone show Remi S1-S3.
Haha. She squeezed Kurt too hard to hurt him. What a bitch. Also awesome.
Zapata's smile when she sees Reade on TV. Girl go home.
Rich and Patterson are gonna cure Jane using Santa magic and it's gonna be friggin awesome.
Reciting the wedding video is creepy Remi.
Noooo.... don't break out Mama Shepherd. She be crazier than you Remi and at this point that's saying A LOT.
