Review of PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 6800 XT Limited Edition (16 GB): Hashrate | Overclocking Settings | Testing | CPU optimal performance. Check out these and some most common features and specification of the RX 6800 XT. Object of research : a commercially available 3D graphics accelerator (video card) PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 6800 XT Limited Edition 16 GB 256-bit GDDR6. Many Read This as well - AMD Radeon RX 6800 vs RX 6800 XT: Hashrate | Specs | Test | Config | Profit Briefly - RX 6800 XT Limited Edition (16 GB) At the beginning of all reviews of serial video cards, we update our knowledge about the performance of the accelerator family and its competitors. All this is subjectively assessed by us on a scale of five gradations. (This material was prepared prior to the release of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti). Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 and AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT are direct competitors, they demonstrate almost equal performance, allowing you to play comfortably in 4K at maximum graphics settings, but only in games without using ray tracing (RT) - when ray tracing is enabled, the performance of the Radeon 6800 XT could drop to the level of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. The PowerColor video card is noticeably more productive than the reference analogue. Samsung memory chips (GDDR6, K4Z80325BC-HC16) are designed for a nominal nominal operating frequency of 4000 (16000) MHz. Comparison with Radeon RX 6800 XT Limited Edition (16 GB) and AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT 16 GB PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 6800 XT Limited Edition (16 GB)AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT (16 GB)front view    back view     If the reference card Radeon RX 6800 XT has a total number of power phases - 15, then the PowerColor card has as many as 19! At the same time, the PCB of the PowerColor card is similar to the reference card only in terms of the location of the memory chips, while the power supply system and so on have been radically redesigned. The power supply circuit of the kernel is marked in green, and the memory is in red. The 16-phase PWM controller XDPE132G5D (Infineon) controls 16 phases of the GPU power supply (the controller itself is located on the back of the PCB). There is also a PWM controller IOR35217 (Infineon / ex-IR), which controls three phases of power supply of memory chips. In the GPU and memory power converter, traditionally for all modern video cards, DrMOS transistor assemblies are used - in this case, the very expensive TDA21472 (Infineon / ex-IR). The PCB is very complex with 14 layers including 4 copper layers for improved cooling. (By the way, now there is information that in addition to problems with the supply of rare earth elements for semiconductor production, as well as substrates for chip packaging, there is also a shortage of these same copper sheets for printed circuit boards.) We also see that the card has a set of video outputs recommended by AMD: 1 HDMI + 2 DP + USB Type-C output. The card has a CYPD5137 controller (Cypress Semiconductor), it is responsible for this very USB connector, through which the image output is organized. Thanks to the aforementioned controller, this connector can be used as USB 3.2 Gen2, but its main purpose is universal image output to receivers of various formats: from VR helmets to monitors / TVs with similar inputs. All video outputs are backlit, so you can connect monitors / TVs in the dark. There is also a controller for controlling the backlight (it also monitors). The nominal memory frequencies are equal to the reference values. But the boost value of the core frequency is higher than the reference analogue, which on average gives a performance increase of 3%. Manual overclocking was tested using the standard AMD utility included in the driver control panel (although overclocking is also possible through MSI Afterburner). While maintaining stable operation, the maximum overclocking was possible up to frequencies of 2725/17088 MHz. At the same time, the performance gain relative to the reference card was 9.5% in 4K resolution. At low GPU load, the fans always stop. Power is supplied through two 8-pin connectors. The operation of the card is controlled through the settings in the AMD drivers panel. Heating and cooling Before us is a large two-piece plate nickel-plated radiator with heat pipes soldered to a nickel-plated base in contact with the GPU and memory chips. VRM power converters are cooled using separate pads on the same heatsink. The back graphene plate not only serves as a PCB protection element and a card stiffness amplifier, but also has a backlit Red Devil series logo. A casing with three fans is installed on top of the radiator: two extreme ∅100 mm and an average ∅95 mm, which have a special curvature of the blades for a more accurate direction of the air flow to the radiator. The fans stop at low load of the video card if the GPU temperature drops below 50 degrees. Of course, the CO becomes silent at the same time. When the PC starts up, the fans work, but after loading the video driver, the operating temperature is polled, and they are turned off. Below is a video on this topic. Thermal Monitoring with MSI Afterburner: BIOS OC After a 2-hour run under load, the maximum core temperature did not exceed 74 ° C, which is an acceptable result for a video card of this level. The maximum power was recorded at 264W, and the maximum heating was observed in the center of the PCB, and the main heat sources are the GPU and power circuit converters. Below is a 9-minute card heating accelerated 50 times. With the manual overclocking described above, the card's operating parameters remained almost unchanged, the maximum power consumption rose to 272 watts. BIOS Silent In this case, the maximum core temperature did not exceed 78 ° C, which is probably still an acceptable result for video cards of this level. The maximum power was recorded at 254 watts, while the fan speed dropped sharply. Separately, we again note that the Radeon RX 6000 series cards have sensors that notify about heating up to 100 degrees and even higher. These sensors can be called Hot Spot or Junction. The temperature readings from these sensors can significantly exceed the values we are used to when evaluating the heating of the GPU under load. The fact is that the Hot Spot (Junction) is a sensor for the maximum heating of the graphics core. The temperature according to its readings can reach 110 ° C , and it is safe! The driver will continue to increase the frequency of the GPU blocks until the Hot Spot sensor reads close to this critical value. This achieves the maximum that the GPU crystal can provide in the current environment. Of course, a specific chip instance, as well as the type / type, efficiency and mode of operation of the CO, plus the load on the GPU, will affect the possibility of reaching the maximum heating, and hence the maximum operating frequencies. Therefore, these values may differ for different cards, but, we repeat once again, there is no need to be afraid of such temperatures , GPUs tolerate them quite normally (the silicon heating limit is even higher). Noise The noise measurement technique assumes that the room is noise-insulated and damped, and reverberations are reduced. The system unit, in which the noise of video cards is examined, does not have fans and is not a source of mechanical noise. The background level of 18 dBA is the noise level in the room and the noise level of the sound level meter itself. Measurements are taken from a distance of 50 cm from the video card at the level of the cooling system. Measurement modes: - Idle mode in 2D: loaded internet browser with website, Microsoft Word window, a number of internet communicators - 2D mode with movie viewing: SmoothVideo Project (SVP) is used - hardware decoding with insertion of intermediate frames - 3D mode with maximum load on the accelerator: using FurMark benchmark The assessment of the noise level gradations is as follows: - less than 20 dBA: conditionally silent - 20 to 25 dBA: very quiet - from 25 to 30 dBA: quiet - 30 to 35 dBA: clearly audible - 35 to 40 dBA: loud but bearable - above 40 dBA: very loud In 2D idle, the temperature was no higher than 36 ° C, the fans did not work, the noise level was equal to the background noise level - 18 dBA. When watching a movie with hardware decoding, nothing changed. BIOS OC Under maximum load in 3D, the core temperature reached 74 ° C, the memory heated up to 80 degrees. At the same time, the fans spun up to 1330 rpm, the noise rose to 27.7 dBA: it's quiet. In the video below, you can evaluate how the noise grows (it was fixed for a couple of seconds every 30 seconds). BIOS Silent Under maximum load in 3D, the core temperature reached 78 ° C, and the memory temperature - 84 ° C. At the same time, the fans spun up to 1050 rpm, the noise grew only up to 25.1 dBA: it's even very quiet. In the video below, you can evaluate how the noise grows (it was fixed for a couple of seconds every 30 seconds). It should be remembered that the heat generated by the card remains inside the system unit, so it is advisable to use a case with good ventilation. Backlight The card has a highlighted series logo on the back, 6 stripes between the middle and right fans and a stylized set of stripes on the back. The backlight is visible both when the card is installed vertically through the riser, and when it is normally placed horizontally (then the rear logo and end strips are clearly visible). The backlight is controlled using the proprietary PowerColor utility. The choice of modes is good. In addition, the card has the ability to synchronize its illumination with the motherboard, for which the card has an ARGB 3V connector on the top end, and a cable for connecting to a similar connector on the motherboard is included in the package. A cable with a splitter, which allows you to connect to it a cable from an existing backlight that was plugged into the same ARGB connector. In general, the backlighting is not too wide and bright, but very stylish. Scope of delivery and packaging The package, in addition to the traditional user manual, includes the aforementioned backlight sync cable, a bonus sticker, and a couple more souvenirs. For fans of the Red Devil series, the company supplies two keycaps for mechanical keyboards with branded horn masks in this Limited Edition. And if the red cap can still be used for a more or less frequently used key, the black “with horns” is only as a decor, which means that it can only be put on the Scroll Lock :) Test results Test bench configuration - Компьютер на базе процессора AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (Socket AM4):- Платформа:- процессор AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (разгон до 4,6 ГГц по всем ядрам); - ЖСО Cougar Helor 240; - системная плата Asus ROG Crosshair Dark Hero на чипсете AMD X570; - оперативная память TeamGroup T-Force Xtreem ARGB (TF10D48G4000HC18JBK) 32 ГБ (4×8) DDR4 (4000 МГц); - SSD Intel 760p NVMe 1 ТБ PCI-E; - жесткий диск Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 3 ТБ SATA3; - блок питания Seasonic Prime 1300 W Platinum (1300 Вт); - корпус Thermaltake Level20 XT; - операционная система Windows 10 Pro 64-битная; DirectX 12 (v.20H2); - телевизор LG 55Nano956 (55″ 8K HDR, HDMI 2.1); - драйверы AMD версии 21.5.1; - драйверы Nvidia версии 466.27; - VSync отключен. Test results in 3D games Standard benchmark results without hardware ray tracing at 1920 × 1200, 2560 × 1440, and 3840 × 2160 Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Shadow of the Tomb Raider Most games still do not support ray tracing technology, and there are still a lot of video cards on the market that do not support RT in hardware. The same is true for Nvidia's DLSS smart anti-aliasing technology. Therefore, we still carry out the most massive tests in games without ray tracing. Nevertheless, today already half of the video cards we regularly test support RT technology, so we conduct tests not only using conventional rasterization methods, but also with the inclusion of RT and / or DLSS. It is clear that in this case, video cards of the AMD Radeon RX 6000 family participate in tests without an analogue of DLSS (we are waiting for the company to implement the promised analogue and speed up the calculation of ray tracing). Test results with hardware ray tracing and / or DLSS enabled at 1920 × 1200, 2560 × 1440, and 3840 × 2160 Cyberpunk 2077, RT+DLSS Watch Dogs: Legion, RT Watch Dogs: Legion, RT+DLSS Resident Evil Village, RT Shadow of the Tomb Raider, RT The accelerator rating demonstrates to us the functionality of video cards relative to each other and is presented in two versions: - Rating option without RT included The rating is compiled for all tests without the use of ray tracing technologies. This rating is normalized for the weakest accelerator - GeForce GTX 1650 (that is, the combination of speed and features of the GeForce GTX 1650 is taken as 100%). Ratings are carried out for 28 accelerators that we study monthly as part of the Best Video Card of the Month project. In this case, a group of cards for analysis has been selected from the general list, which includes the Radeon RX 6800 XT and its competitors. The rating is given in total for all three resolutions. №Accelerator modelRatingUtility ratingprice.02RX 6900 XT 16 GB, 2015—2470 / 160009005803PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800 XT, разгон до 2725/170889006104PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800 XT, 2340—2436/160008705905RX 6800 XT 16 GB, 2015—2401 / 160008405906RTX 3080 10 GB 1710-1965 / 190008103408RTX 3070 8GB 1725-1950 / 1400066046 The Radeon RX 6800 XT was released as a competitor to the GeForce RTX 3080, and so it became. Moreover, AMD's reference product even slightly outperforms the Nvidia card. The PowerColor card has initially increased frequencies, so it is even more distant from the GeForce RTX 3080, and its manual overclocking made it possible to catch up even with the Radeon RX 6900 XT (and this accelerator is already designed to compete with the GeForce RTX 3090). However, it is worth recalling that all of the above is only true for games with traditional rasterization, without using ray tracing. In general, all the accelerators listed in our table do an excellent job with games in 4K resolution with maximum graphics settings. - Rating option with RT included The rating is based on 5 tests using ray tracing technology (no Nvidia DLSS!). This rating is normalized for the weakest accelerator in this group - GeForce RTX 2070 (that is, the combination of speed and features of the GeForce RTX 2070 is taken as 100%). The rating is given in total for all three resolutions. №Accelerator model RatingUtility ratingprice,.02RTX 3080 10 GB 1710-1965 / 19000220903RTX 3070 8GB 1725-1950 / 140001701206RX 6900 XT 16 GB, 2015—2470 / 16000130807PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800 XT, разгон до 2725/17088130909PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800 XT, 2340—2436/16000120810RX 6800 XT 16 GB, 2015—2422 / 160001208 If, in the case of GeForce RTX 30 cards, when switching to games with ray tracing, we can only talk about a slight decrease in performance, then, talking about the Radeon RX 6800 XT, we have to dramatically change intonation compared to the commentary to the previous rating. Alas, when RT is turned on, the performance of the Radeon RX 6800 XT and even the Radeon RX 6900 XT drops much more than that of the GeForce RTX 3080, so both AMD video cards were lower in the rating, even lower than the GeForce RTX 3070! It remains to wait for the release of the promised AMD Fidelity Super Resolution technology, which should become an analogue of Nvidia DLSS and at least to some extent compensate for the performance losses when RT is turned on. As for the PowerColor card, again, its increased frequencies and manual overclocking made it possible to slightly rise relative to the reference analog, even catch up with the Radeon RX 6900 XT, but still it lags well behind the same GeForce RTX 3070. However, the cost of the latter is already starting exceed the price of Radeon cards, making them more profitable. The only problem: not getting them, AMD is releasing new chips not even by a teaspoon, but by ... a drop from a pipette. Utility rating The utility rating of the same cards is obtained if the indicator of the previous rating is divided by the prices of the corresponding accelerators. Read the full article

LG 4K HDR Smart LED 65SM9500 NanoCell TV w/AI ThinQ 2019 Review
As known, fierce competition in the consumer electronics segment is the main trend of the last few decades. In fact, the development of innovative technologies has become for companies one of the main tools to ensure the competitiveness of its products. As a result, almost all leaders annually offer models that use a wide range of the most effective innovative solutions. Of course, TVs are one of the most high-tech segments.
LG TVs
Of course, LG needs no introduction. Every year this company offers models with the support of the most advanced technologies, many of which are its own development. Nano Cell, HDR technology, HDMI 2.1 (48 Gbps), etc perfectly illustrate this trend. Of course, 2019 was no exception. For example, at CES 2019, the company demonstrated first rollable OLED TV. 260 flexible OLED screens, connected together to imitate a waterfall struck the imagination of the most imperturbable viewers. All modern models use OLED or LED LCD technology. In fact, QLED (Samsung), Nano Cell (LG) and Micro LED are innovative LED LCD TVs. QLED and Nano Cell technologies have a lot in common, but are developed by different companies. Recall that QD (quantum dots) or fluorescent semiconductor nanocrystals are tiny single crystals with a diameter of 2-10 nm (15-150 atoms). The size and shape of QDs is easily and accurately controlled by the duration and temperature of the process of their synthesis. QD color depends on its size. The size of large red QDs reaches 7 nm (150 atoms), the diameter of green particles is about 3 nm (30 atoms), and the smallest blue QDs have a diameter of only 2 nm (15 atoms). These nanoparticles are applied to an additional nanofilter between the LED panel and the LCD screen. This element significantly improves brightness control, providing more accurate color rendering. The main difference between Nano Cell and QLED is the size of the calibration pixel, which is 1 nm and 2-7 nm, respectively. Modern Nano Cell models are slightly cheaper than QLED models with similar technical specifications.
LG LED 65SM9500 NanoCell
But the company is also actively developing traditional LED LCD TVs. In 2019, LG introduced the new SM9500 (55, 65 ") TV (SM9800PLA in Europe). This ultra slim LED 4K TV with Nano Cell display and FALD backlight supports the HDR standard, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10 Pro, HLG, HLG Pro and Advanced HDR from Technicolor. In 2019, LG continues to ignore the competitive Samsung HDR10+ standard, claiming that its models provide a similar effect due to the dynamic Tone mapping mode. Dynamic frame-by-frame HDR image processing uses the Enhanced Dynamic Tone Mapping algorithm. The native resolution of RGB matrix is 3840 x 2160 pixels, which corresponds to 4K Ultra HD. In addition, the model supports HDMI 2.1, Dolby Atmos, wireless WiSA audio and uses WebOS 4.5. SM9500 uses an upgraded second-generation Alpha 7 Gen 2 processor and an HDMI 2.1 port with HDMI eARC and VRR support. New HDMI 2.1 interface provides 48 Gbps. For comparison, HDMI 2.0 only supports 18 Gbps. Accordingly, new model can playback content with higher resolution and frequency. In particular, this model supports a 4K / 120 Hz mode. In addition, HDMI 2.1 provides a Variable Refresh Rate feature that is similar to the AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync technologies. Moreover, the HDMI 2.1 supports Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) technology that automatically determines the optimal delay time for the smoothest possible playback. HDMI eARC provides lossless audio transmission through the HDMI eARC port. Of course, the LG SM9500 with HDMI 2.1 is backward compatible with HDMI 2.0. But connecting external HDMI 2.1 devices requires Ultra High Speed HDMI cables.
Key features
Matrix LG SM9500 supports 10-bit color depth. Most modern TVs use 8-bit matrix, which provides 8 bits for each of the three colors (red, green, blue) or 256 shades. 10-bit panels provide 1024 shades per color. Accordingly, 1024 х 1024 x 1024 is 1.07 billion colors per pixel. For comparison, this value for the 8-bit matrix reaches only 16.8 million. This value mainly affects the degree of image realism. The top LG 2019 models continue to use FALD (full-array local dimming) backlight. It uses LEDs behind the screen that are combined into arrays for each screen zone. In this case, the TV can turn off certain areas of the backlight, providing a deeper black, improving the detail in the shadows and reducing the excessive brightness. As a result, FALD significantly improves the contrast, providing great image quality. Processing dynamic scenes uses an improved LG α7 (Alpha 7) second-generation processor that has replaced the previous Alpha 7. According to the company, it has significantly improved the performance of color and motion processing algorithms. The model uses a very popular Magic Remote with a gyroscope, which provides cursor control when it moves in space. In addition, it does not require direct guidance to the IR receiver on the TV. But location and set of its buttons is slightly different from the Magic Remote 2018. As known, LG TVs use Dolby Atmos since 2017. This feature automatically adjusts to any connected speaker system. This TV uses a 2.2 circuit with a total power of 40 W. Wireless Sound Sync provides connection and transfer of audio content to mobile devices.
ThinkQ AI
The LG TVs 2019 uses updated webOS 4.5. It retains all the features of last year’s popular system and adds an intelligent selection from apps like Netflix based on user preferences. The company also expanded its voice assistant capabilities, including Google Assistant support and added support for Amazon Alexa. The system can prompt various voice commands in the menu via the AI Recommendation. As known, since 2018 all household appliances, electronic devices and LG services with support for AI are combined in the ThinQ AI. Of course, the LG SM9500 also supports ThinQ. Moreover, model uses Deep ThinQ technology and personalized Google Assistant to control using voice commands and communicate with other smart home devices. As known, at CES 2019, LG introduced their new OLED and NanoCell TVs. The LG NanoCell line up 2019 includes SM9970 (8K), SM9500 / SM9000 (65 ", FALD Pro / 55" and 65 ", FALD) and SM8600 (Local Dimming). This video offers review of the LG 65SM9000. Read the full article

Reading About the Analog vs. Digital Signals | Soukacatv.com
Overview
We live in an analog world. There are an infinite amount of colors to paint an object (even if the difference is indiscernible to our eye), there are an infinite number of tones we can hear, and there are an infinite number of smells we can smell. The common theme among all of these analog signals is their infinite possibilities.
Digital signals and objects deal in the realm of the discrete or finite, meaning there is a limited set of values they can be. That could mean just two total possible values, 255, 4,294,967,296, or anything as long as it’s not ∞ (infinity).
Working with electronics means dealing with both analog and digital signals, inputs and outputs. Our electronics projects have to interact with the real, analog world in some way, but most of our microprocessors, computers, and logic units are purely digital components. These two types of signals are like different electronic languages; some electronics components are bi-lingual, others can only understand and speak one of the two.
In this tutorial, we’ll cover the basics of both digital and analog signals, including examples of each. We’ll also talk about analog and digital circuits, and components.
HDMI Encoder Modulator,16in1 Digital Headend, HD RF Modulator at SOUKA https://www.soukacatv.com/.
Suggested Reading
The concepts of analog and digital stand on their own, and don’t require a lot of previous electronics knowledge. That said, if you haven’t already, you should peek through some of these tutorials:
Voltage, Current, Resistance and Ohm’s Law
What is a Circuit
And     some mathematics concepts: reading graphs, and understanding the     difference between finite and infinite sets.
Analog Signals
Define: Signals
Before going too much further, we should talk a bit about what a signal actually is, electronic signals specifically (as opposed to traffic signals, albums by the ultimate power-trio, or a general means for communication). The signals we’re talking about are time-varying “quantities” which convey some sort of information. In electrical engineering the quantity that’s time-varying is usually voltage (if not that, then usually current). So when we talk about signals, just think of them as a voltage that’s changing over time.
Signals are passed between devices in order to send and receive information, which might be video, audio, or some sort of encoded data. Usually the signals are transmitted through wires, but they could also pass through the air via radio frequency (RF) waves. Audio signals, for example might be transferred between your computer’s audio card and speakers, while data signals might be passed through the air between a tablet and a WiFi router.
Analog Signal Graphs
Because a signal varies over time, it’s helpful to plot it on a graph where time is plotted on the horizontal, x-axis, and voltage on the vertical, y-axis. Looking at a graph of a signal is usually the easiest way to identify if it’s analog or digital; a time-versus-voltage graph of an analog signal should be smooth and continuous.
While these signals may be limited to a range of maximum and minimum values, there are still an infinite number of possible values within that range. For example, the analog voltage coming out of your wall socket might be clamped between -120V and +120V, but, as you increase the resolution more and more, you discover an infinite number of values that the signal can actually be (like 64.4V, 64.42V, 64.424V, and infinite, increasingly precise values).
Example Analog Signals
Video and audio transmissions are often transferred or recorded using analog signals. The composite video coming out of an old RCA jack, for example, is a coded analog signal usually ranging between 0 and 1.073V. Tiny changes in the signal have a huge effect on the color or location of the video.
An analog signal representing one line of composite video data.
Pure audio signals are also analog. The signal that comes out of a microphone is full of analog frequencies and harmonics, which combine to make beautiful music.
Digital Signals
Digital signals must have a finite set of possible values. The number of values in the set can be anywhere between two and a-very-large-number-that’s-not-infinity. Most commonly digital signals will be one of two values – like either 0V or 5V. Timing graphs of these signals look like square waves.
Or a digital signal might be a discrete representation of an analog waveform. Viewed from afar, the wave function below may seem smooth and analog, but when you look closely there are tiny discrete steps as the signal tries to approximate values:
That’s the big difference between analog and digital waves. Analog waves are smooth and continuous, digital waves are stepping, square, and discrete.
Example Digital Signals
Not all audio and video signals are analog. Standardized signals like HDMI for video (and audio) and MIDI, I2S, or AC'97for audio are all digitally transmitted.
Most communication between integrated circuits is digital. Interfaces like serial, I2C, and SPI all transmit data via a coded sequence of square waves.
Serial peripheral interface (SPI) uses many digital signals to transmit data between devices.
Analog and Digital Circuits
Analog Electronics
Most of the fundamental electronic components – resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, transistors, and operational amplifiers – are all inherently analog. Circuits built with a combination of solely these components are usually analog.
Analog circuits are usually complex combinations of op amps, resistors, caps, and other foundational electronic components. This is an example of a class B analog audio amplifier.
Analog circuits can be very elegant designs with many components, or they can be very simple, like two resistors combining to make a voltage divider. In general, though, analog circuits are much more difficult to design than those which accomplish the same task digitally. It takes a special kind of analog circuit wizard to design an analog radio receiver, or an analog battery charger; digital components exist to make those designs much simpler.
Analog circuits are usually much more susceptible to noise (small, undesired variations in voltage). Small changes in the voltage level of an analog signal may produce significant errors when being processed.
Digital Electronics
Digital circuits operate using digital, discrete signals. These circuits are usually made of a combination of transistors and logic gates and, at higher levels, microcontrollers or other computing chips. Most processors, whether they’re big beefy processors in your computer, or tiny little microcontrollers, operate in the digital realm.
Digital circuits make use of components like logic gates, or more complicated digital ICs (usually represented by rectangles with labeled pins extending from them).
Digital circuits usually use a binary scheme for digital signaling. These systems assign two different voltages as two different logic levels – a high voltage (usually 5V, 3.3V, or 1.8V) represents one value and a low voltage (usually 0V) represents the other.
Although digital circuits are generally easier to design, they do tend to be a bit more expensive than an equally tasked analog circuit.
Analog and Digital Combined
It’s not rare to see a mixture of analog and digital components in a circuit. Although microcontrollers are usually digital beasts, they often have internal circuitry which enables them to interface with analog circuitry (analog-to-digital converters, pulse-width modulation, and digital-to-analog converters. An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) allows a microcontroller to connect to an analog sensor (like photocells or temperature sensors), to read in an analog voltage. The less common digital-to-analog converter allows a microcontroller to produce analog voltages, which is handy when it needs to make sound.
Resources and Going Further
Now that you know the difference between analog and digital signals, we’d suggest checking out the Analog to Digital Conversion tutorial. Working with microcontrollers, or really any logic-based electronics, means working in the digital realm most of the time. If you want to sense light, temperature, or interface a microcontroller with a variety of other analog sensors, you’ll need to know how to convert the analog voltage they produce into a digital value.
Also, consider reading our Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) tutorial. PWM is a trick microcontrollers can use to make a digital signal appear to be analog.

Week 1 Assignment
E-waste is potentially the most fatal threat of our generation. Companies are shrinking the life span of products, new tech appears year on year to the date, we are becoming a throwaway society. In 2016, 6.4 billion consumer electronic devices existed, up 30% on 2015 and predicted to reach 20.8 billion by 2020.(1) The world is mounting up discarded electronic appliances such as mobile phones, computers, and televisions at an astonishing a rate with no sustainable solution in place.
Electronic waste (e-waste) is the disposal of electronic devices, particularly items with circuit boards, wiring & soldering. What makes e-waste problematic is that it usually contains harmful, hazardous and dangerous chemicals & materials which pose varying negative risks to human life and the environment.
I took apart on old Xbox 360 which I was throwing away, to research and examine the parts & materials used in the device to understand about e-waste and the chemicals involved. The Xbox 360 released November 22, 2005 & discontinued on April 20, 2016, was the second gaming console developed by Microsoft to rival Sony’s Playstation and the predecessor to the Xbox One. Manufactured in China between Flextronics, Wistron, and Celesticaand and assembled by Foxconn.(2) As of June 9, 2014, 84 million units have been sold worldwide.(3)
The Xbox 360 is powered by a custom IBM power PC-based CPU with three 3.2 GHz cores, custom ATI graphics processor with 10 MB embedded DRAM, 512 MB 700 MHz GDDR3 RAM, Detachable and upgradeable hard drive (250gb in my console) *except the core version, 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM, 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 memory unit slots, 2.4 GHz wireless adapter, IR receiver, 100 Mbit/s Ethernet port, Wifi 802.11b/g/n, AUX port, HDMI port, is 310mm high, 80mm wide, 260 mm deep & weighs 3.5kg.(4)
With some research online I came across an investigation by Greenpeace called “Playing Dirty” which analysed three popular gaming consoles including the Xbox 360 to test for the use of hazardous chemicals and materials. I was amazed to find out what could be found in the Xbox 360, and actually concerned as I had been playing with this device since I was 10 years old. There was widespread use of bromine and BFR’s in the circuit boards and printed wiring boards, beryllium-containing alloys and most interestingly PVC was identified in wire and cable coatings and makes up 10.6% of the overall weight of the device, the use of PVC means plasticisers or softeners which include phthalate esters (phthalates) are present. Phthalates are not permitted in toys for children sold in the EU, DEHP one phthalates found in the Xbox 360 which is dangerous to reproduction has the ability to interfere with sexual development in mammals especially males. It is important to note that all the chemicals & materials found in the device did meet the European Union's restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) guidelines. However, many of these chemicals would be banned if the device was classified as a children’s toy but gaming consoles do not fall under this category and so can be used despite a large number of under 18 year olds using the device.(5)
While the percentage of dangerous chemicals and materials is relatively low per device, we need to think about the major problem that is e-waste. As the latest gaming consoles are released and the older Xbox 360 is phased out and support is dropped by Microsoft, they will all be heading to landfill. If we take the information from above, 84 million units have been sold, at a weight of 3.5kg per unit that is 294 million kilograms heading to the tip, that combined is a lot of bromine and other hazardous material of which 10.6% is PVC which contains phthalates. Many developed countries short sighted solution to this problem was to ship this waste to non-developed countries where workers with no safety equipment are haphazardly melting down metals & contaminating chemicals together with no procedures in place which is in turn poisoning water supply, harming the environment and affecting the community’s health.(7) We have turned a blind eye on this major problem and there is no sustainable solution.
The 2050 speculative view
Future Trend 1: Internet of Things (IOT)   Future Trend 2: Smart Cities   Future Trend 3: Zero Waste
Everything from the kitchen sink now contains electronics, connecting it to, and feeding data, to the ever-expanding internet of things network. Paper and other similar consumables are rarely being used, replaced by handheld personal electronic devices. Countries around the world will be working together to solve the problems of today and the future, with major cities moving towards becoming smart cities, with efficient, cutting edge public transport, healthcare, infrastructure and recycling facilities.(8)
Governments will impose strict regulations on manufacturing, specifically electronics companies. Whereby they will ban all hazardous chemicals and materials from being used, and implementing a certifying procedure for all materials being used to make sure they all meet ISO standards deemed safe for consumer devices.(9)
Both large and small, high tech recycling centers will be built across the world, providing a low cost and highly efficient method to dealing with e-waste. Devices will start at the fragmentation stage, they will be placed into machines and stripped down in seconds using high voltage zaps. The parts containing high market value metals will be sent to furnaces that run over various temperatures from 700-1550c (10) to extract these materials, including gold, silver, platinum, palladium and copper. (11)  The remainder of the device will go to the shredder where it will be shredded into fine sand-sized particles that will be moulded into blocks and used in the construction of sustainable buildings.  Drones will also be used which will scan landfills and the streets to pick out any dumped e-waste that has not been collected by the e-waste recycling centres. A collection robot will then use this information to pull out that e-waste and send it to the recycling centre.(12)

Such clear resolution allows for and facial recognition up to 25 feet and license plate recognition upto 15ft.

All our HDCVI cameras feature a 3.6mm lens and wide 75° viewing angle. View and record in widescreen with remote viewing on standard web browsers PC/MAC as well iPhone, iPad and Android devices (with included Amcrest View app).
Plug & Play setup, Easy to configure, access and control. Scan QR Code on DVR from “Amcrest View” App to instantly access live viewing and playback. Instead of having multiple devices independently accessible through the network, the DVR Functions as the single access point for all cameras connected over analog. This makes it significantly easier to manage and configure multiple cameras. This system is backwards compatible with 960H and traditional analog cameras as well as IP cameras.
USB backup feature for peace of mind, IP66 heavy-duty metal indoor/outdoor weatherproof cameras, and powerful IR-LED night vision. All systems CE & FCC certified with UL compliant power supplies. Pre-installed 3 TB hard-drive records continuously for 360 hours on all 16 channels in 720p @ 30fps, or much longer (30-50+ days) using motion detection or scheduled recording. Uncompressed latency-free analog transmission ensures you see things in realtime, as they happen, without loss or delay. HDCVI enjoys industry leading point-to-point transmission distance of 1,640ft (500m) from camera to DVR, surpassing the capabilities of IP/POE and HD-SDI.
