Lucanis Dellamorte ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ—ก he bewitched my heart and thus my hands--this is my biggest stained glass style embroidery piece yet! It's an 8inch hoop, and done primarily in silk thread, with a few sections of stain finish, metallic, and cotton threads. I did hand-dye or overdye some of these thread colors, though not as many as on previous pieces. It's hard to capture just how shiny these thread combinations are in person, but you can see it better in this video! Overall, I was able to get much more detailed and the finished product looking much smoother and glass-like than my 3.5inch mockeup I did in January as a color test.
I also tried something new, which was adding a tiny bit of fuscia watercolor to the center of the light colored dots/eyes in the background. I wanted to mimic the concentric circles of the original tarot art, which isn't possible with just dither shading for this satin stitch approach. Using watercolors to dye the threads after they've been stitched let me create that illusion more accurately (though hovering paint above the finished piece was indeed anxiety inducing). The effect is subtle, but I do think adds to the overall piece, even if no one but me will notice.
I hope you enjoy looking at it! You can see more of my work in my "finished embroidery" tag, and my additional WIPs/process thoughts tagged as "my embroidery". I also sell my embroidery pattern templates on kofi and etsy, and am currently open for commissions as well :)
