Different types of RFID Tags in India
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags come in various types, each designed for different purposes and environments. Here are some common types:
Passive RFID Tags: These RFID tags do not have an internal power source and rely on the energy transmitted from the RFID reader to power them up. They are generally cheaper and smaller compared to active tags but have a shorter read range.
Active RFID Tags: Active RFID tags have their own power source (usually a battery) and can transmit signals over longer distances. They are often used for tracking high-value assets over large areas.
Semi-Passive RFID Tags: Also known as battery-assisted passive (BAP) tags, these tags have a small battery to power certain features like sensors or memory but still rely on the RFID reader for communication.
Low Frequency (LF) RFID Tags: Operate at frequencies between 125 kHz and 134 kHz. LF tags are less sensitive to interference but have shorter read ranges compared to higher frequency tags.
High Frequency (HF) RFID Tags: Operate at frequencies between 13.56 MHz. HF tags are commonly used in applications like access control, ticketing, and payment systems.
Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) RFID Tags: Operate at frequencies between 860 MHz and 960 MHz. UHF tags offer longer read ranges and faster data transfer rates, making them suitable for inventory management and supply chain applications.
Near Field Communication (NFC) Tags: NFC is a subset of HF RFID technology, operating at 13.56 MHz. NFC tags are commonly used in contactless payment systems, access control, and data exchange between devices at close range.
Passive UHF RFID Tags: These tags operate in the UHF band and are commonly used in supply chain management, logistics, and asset tracking due to their long read range and relatively low cost.
Active UHF RFID Tags: Similar to passive UHF tags but with a built-in battery to extend the tag’s range and enable more advanced features like sensors and real-time tracking.
Metal Mount RFID Tags: Designed specifically for attachment to metal surfaces, these tags have special designs to mitigate interference caused by metal.
Temperature and Environmental RFID Tags: These tags incorporate sensors to monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and pressure. They are used in applications like cold chain management and asset monitoring.
