CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS The inaugural InnoEX kicks off on April 12, 2023 in Hong Kong, where global tech achievements converge at three tech fairs, unlocking future trends and helaping enterprises stay ahead of the curve. CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS HONG KONG is definitely back in business, post-pandemic, as the first-ever InnoEX kicked off from April 12 to 15, with the prime objective of becoming the premier B2B platform for next-gen smart solutions, cutting-edge technologies and disruptive innovations.InnoEX was jointly organized by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). The event ran in conjunction with the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) and HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition), and all exhibitions were held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).The three tech fairs attracted nearly 3,000 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions across Hong Kong, mainland China, Asia, Europe and the Americas, and showcased Hong Kong's role as a global innovation hub and trade exhibition center. The four-day event also brought together influential tech experts, entrepreneurs, thought leaders and investors from the region to discuss collaborations, share upcoming trends and exchange insights into future opportunities."InnoEX serves as a premier business platform showcasing next-generation smart solutions, and cutting-edge technologies, bringing together influential tech experts, enterprises, thought leaders and investors from the region and beyond to discuss cross-region and cross-sector collaboration and explore business opportunities on all fronts," said Sophia Chong, HKTDC acting executive director, in her welcome remarks as she opened the first day of Innoex.Under the theme "Connecting the world with innovations for better living," the three tech exhibitions adopted the HKTDC's Exhibition+ integrated online and offline model for trade events. While physical expos themselves ran from April 12 to 15, global exhibitors, industry professionals and buyers could still come together through the Click2Match intelligent business matchmaking platform until April 22.According to its organizers, InnoEX is "devoted to promoting cross-industry as well as cross-functional collaboration and exchange, encompassing business-to-business (B2B), government-to-government (G2G), and government-to-business (G2B) partnerships." As the event is expected to drive "the translation of innovations into commercialization through the market, ultimately extending enterprises' reach to the global stage.""The current government is committed to promoting the development of innovation and technology to give a strong impetus to economic growth and address the concerns of people's livelihood. Last year, we published the 'Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Blueprint,' which sets out the strategic plan for innovation and technology in the next five to 10 years, and promotes key directions, such as digital economy and smart city development," said Professor Sun Dong, secretary for innovation, technology and industry."The 'Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Blueprint' has been making impressive strides in the smart city journey. Nonetheless, we will not be complacent in where we are. To lead by example, as announced in the chief executive's 2022 Policy Address, we are now forging ahead with an e-government audit with a view to implementing 100 digital initiatives by various departments leveraging advanced technologies such as AI, blockchain and big data analytics by 2025. They will certainly further enhance our livelihood with greater convenience and allow us to experience the benefits of smart city and innovation and technology (I&T) in our daily lives."Following the easing of the pandemic situation, Hong Kong has established closer trade ties with mainland China, resulting in 12 pavilions from 10 provinces and cities joining the InnoEx physical exhibition. The exhibition has also attracted leading innovation and technology institutions and organizations, including local universities and research centers, and major technology companies such as Huawei and Hikvision.Various local and overseas pavilions, including the B4B Challenge, Cyberport, Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, Smart City Consortium, So French So Innovative pavilion from France, and Canadian pavilion were all present at the exhibition halls. While representatives from the government, industry, academia and research communities from around the world joined the event to learn more about exhibitors' solutions and explore procurement opportunities.Several forums featured government officials from different mainland provinces and cities, with representatives promoting smart city development from various countries and regions, and executives from leading technology companies and unicorns, who gathered together to discuss a range of topical technology issues."Hong Kong is an important gathering place for global innovation elements and a key hub in the global innovation network," said Professor Zhang Guangjun, vice minister of Science and Technology, in a special address given online."With its advantage of the motherland's strong backing and world connection, Hong Kong plays an indispensable and important role in the country's innovation infrastructure. The Ministry of Science and Technology will work closely with the Hong Kong SAR Government to implement President Xi Jinping's series of important pledges on innovation and technology and the promotion of Hong Kong's prosperous development, and to put into practice the arrangement between the mainland and Hong Kong on expediting the development of Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology center, so as to promote innovation and technology as a new engine for Hong Kong's development." https://www.manilatimes.net/2023/04/16/business/sunday-business-it/innoex-unlocks-future-trends-in-hk/1887269

Good review of my virtual keynote in Hong Kong @HKTDC – E-Day: Covid the Transformer
Nice in-depth review of my talk at HKTDC in Hong Kong, see video below. More about the event here.
youtube
My talk starts at 7.36
His presentation itself underlined the drastic transformation the world is going through into this new normal. Mr Leonhard presented from this home in Switzerland, rather than flying to Hong Kong. Recognising that the new reality allowed fresh presentation style, he displayed words and images next to him as he spoke, rather than the standard format of addressing a series of images projected on a screen.
The world is undergoing a Great Transformation, he said, with four “bigs” playing a leading role – Big Tech, Big Media, Big State and Big Health. The result would be “Hellven” — it could be Heaven or Hell depending on how it is handled, he cautioned. The future presents utter uncertainty, he added, and businesses needed to abandon traditional, pre-COVID ways of doing things and adopt a VUCA – volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.
Technologies were developing extremely fast, and the COVID-19 pandemic was accelerating this, Mr Leonhard noted. He quoted the late economist Milton Friedman who said: “Only a crisis – actual or perceived – produces real change. When that crisis occurs, the actions that are taken depend on the ideas that are lying around.” And there are ample new technologies and ideas “lying around” at present, the futurist pointed out.
The crisis and technological potential would drive extremely rapid, disruptive change, he said, with more progress over the next decade than the world had seen over the previous three centuries. He expected computers to match many human capabilities as early as 2027, and asked if humans are ready for the “future shock” that such changes would bring…. READ ON

Fashion Hong Kong FW16 #Throwback #FBF - My First Season

Fashion Hong Kong FW16 #Throwback #FBF - My First Season
Tumblr media
My first season of fashion week… almost 3 years ago. Can you believe it? However, after all this time one of my favorite collections was from this very show. Originally these were shot for The Skinny NYC, however I wanted to start featuring some of the photos I’ve taken “way back when” on my blog right here for y’all.
At the time, I was a professional photographer, but I’ve learned a few tricks and improved along the way. I thought they were great at the time – ahhhhh what a noob. With the attainment of proper white balance mode on my camera, and the higher F stop, and the removal of my polarizer filter indoors (like whyyyyyy) – I’m a little bit better these days. But still, I struggle a little with my camera, the Canon 5D III, as it’s getting a tad dated and the autofocus points aren’t always accurate – which COMPLETELY saddens me when I got the PERFECT SHOT and thus… blurred. But nonetheless, my improvement over the years can be seen.. at least in my eyes lol.
I never wanted to take the typical type runway shots.. I wanted to go rogue.. go different.. and master that. Requires more work? Possibly, but for me I wanted my creativity shine. I wanted to make it my own and have a different set of photos compared to most photographers. So enough about the back story.. let me tell you what I actually like about Fashion Hong Kong HKTDC FW16.
It starts off with designers: LOOM LOOP, HARRISON WONG, and HIDY N.G.
LOOM LOOP
The Loom Loop FW18 Collection was EVERYTHING. My love for color and creativity: leggings, cool shoes, butterflies abound. My soul was screaming with joy. As some of you might know, or not, lol, is that I no longer attend shows that don’t inspire me. SEE POST:
NYFW FW18 Street Shots | ??? [[ Kensey Jean ]]
Photographer Kensey Jean. I’m at the point where I’m taking back my power. I’ve been taken advantage of so many times over the years. This year, 2018, I decided that I will only take photos of what I want to photograph and edit and upload the photos that I want to upload.
kenseyjean.com
Well, anyway, my soul was screaming with delight. It’s everything I could have wanted to see in this virtual reality (simulation theory anyone?). The bow-tie necklaces, the butterfly headpieces, and the outfit that looks like waves???? Yeah I’m getting a little too excited thinking about it. Unfortunately it’s been a while to attend another show of theirs, but I hear they might be back FW19 SO SCOREEEE.

Harrison Wong
Harrison Wong’s FW16 collection showed me what a dapper gentleman should look like. With the tappered pants, newsboy persona, Englishman by the sea look, sleek fedoras, and coats with prints that remind me of lighting bolts, and splashes of water.. what’s not to love?? There also was color; eggplant and egyptian blue, but COLOR. When most designers resort to the blacks, whites, and traditional minimalistic colors, I give props to the designers who reintroduce colors into the wardrobes of men and women. Reminds me of the Beatles.

HIDY N.G.
The biggest selling point in my humble opinion in HIDY N.G.’s NYFW FW16 Collection would be the subtle use of glitter, lace, sheer, feathers, and embezzlement in a typical minimalist color palette. I’m not sure of the exact era of influence, but it’s the time of working women with class and attractiveness. Of course that’s subjective. Perhaps you can tell me in the comment section below. The millinery styled hats with the veil… SPOT ON. Very much a European thing.. that I was surprised to see in Ireland when I last visited.
