I can't help thinking about the Kenobi show and how it emphasized all these other important relationships in Obi-Wan's life BEYOND Anakin. Even when Anakin was in the show and played by Hayden, the show very carefully and intentionally made sure to look BEYOND Obi-Wan's relationship with Anakin to really flesh him out and make him interesting.
He's constantly thinking about Padme when he spends time with Leia and missing Padme and remembering her.
It's his friendship with Bail Organa that gives him the kick in the pants he needs to start getting his life in order.
He connects to Reva over their shared grief at the loss of the Jedi Order and the horror of Order 66.
It's his meeting Tala and Haja and Roken and seeing how they're involved in their own little rebellions that helps him start to have hope in the galaxy again.
And even in the middle of his big emotional climax where he's fighting against Anakin, it's remembering Luke and Leia that actually saves him.
So yes, he has to let go of Anakin and his grief and guilt over Anakin's fate, and Anakin IS important to Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan's story, but he is not the SOLE important relationship in Obi-Wan's life. Obi-Wan has other things in his life worth discussing and remembering when telling a story about him and the Kenobi show was SO SO CAREFUL to ensure that that didn't get forgotten or overshadowed by bringing in Anakin himself. And I really appreciate that about the show.

One of the things that I think is so great about the Obi-Wan Kenobi show is how you see seemingly ordinary people in the galaxy doing things that have a big impact. It would be understandable for people to just try to survive under this fascist Empire, look the other way when bad things happen. And some of them do, but some of them don’t. Just in the first two episodes, you have:
A group of ordinary cantina folks on Tatooine (Anchorhead?) refuse to give up the Jedi who is living among them
Owen Lars resists giving up Obi-Wan to an Inquisitor who directly threatens his family and sticks a lightsaber up to his neck
Owen tries to protect Luke by trying to keep Obi-Wan away from him AND indirectly is trying to get Obi-Wan to let go of the past that he’s clinging to
Haja is helping a mother and her Force-sensitive child escape to Corellia (the fact that it’s for credits doesn’t erase the fact that he’s risking himself and his companion to do this)
Haja stands up to an Inquisitor and actively claims to be a Jedi in order to help Obi-Wan and Leia get away, even though he knows Obi-Wan is being hunted and he could probably make a huge reward by turning him in
Haja gives Obi-Wan and Leia a way to get off-planet despite the lockdown
The girl selling spice gives Obi-Wan some to try to help him forget (it’s the wrong idea, but it comes in handy later)
And the people who start to help Obi-Wan get back in touch with the Force, with hope, who start to help him emerge from his depression and reconnect with who he is, are largely non-Force-sensitive people:
Bail Organa risks himself and his wife (and his daughter) not only to ask for Obi-Wan’s help but to come directly to Tatooine and tell him in no uncertain terms to let go of this regret and grief that is killing Obi-Wan and get his shit together, because someone needs him.
Haja tells Obi-Wan, “you’re not alone” and uses his real name, not his made up in-hiding name.
One of the moments where Leia really gets through to him is when she is doing something that directly reminds him of his friend Padmé and how Leia has inherited her fearlessness and willingness to accept help and reach out to friends. Someone who was not Force-sensitive, who was up against incredible odds, and who did what she thought was right regardless.

Look, have I made a few bad decisions? Sure. Do I feel bad about it? Sometimes. Do I like credits? Yeah. So much stuff you can buy with credits.

LOVE ENCOURAGED - The Obi-Wan show
(love encouraged)
for @jedijune - it’s not for a particular prompt but I’m back on my Jedi-and-physical-touch obsession.
So normally the sets are exhaustive but Obi-Wan holds Leia’s hand too often in the first few episodes, so I focused on the quiet, deliberate moments instead.
What stands out to me is that at the beginning of the show, Obi-Wan is just dragging Leia behind him, guiding her by the shoulders so she doesn’t get lost, or so she’ll walk faster. It’s somewhat caring, but not particularly gentle. But just as Obi-Wan becomes a Jedi again, only then does he start showing his compassion and love more openly, softly and quietly, like he always used to.
His return to his Jedi identity coincides with him starting to give and get hugs, because being a Jedi is characterized by deep and open love.

Playing Pretend
As a child Haja would pretend to be a Jedi, playing at having Force powers and going on adventures to save the galaxy.
Then the real world intruded; he's not Force sensitive, the Jedi were declared traitors and killed, the Empire rose. He grew up.
Living takes credits, so his help comes with a price tag, and he created a persona to draw those desperate enough to pay.
And yet… there's still a part of him that is that small boy, playing at being a Jedi and believing in making the galaxy a better place one person at a time.

We're re-watching Obi-Wan Kenobi, and as much as I love Obi-Wan with my whole heart, Haja is my favorite character.

at its heart i think kenobi demonstrates that it really takes a village. keeping leia and luke safe was a coordinated effort on behalf of bail/breha, owen/beru, kenobi, tala, roken, and even haja and reva. they are so loved and so cared for by people they never have and never will meet but they are hope and they are the future and that is enough.
