The "guy" is a woman,

and even if it was a guy I don't see much wrong here. You are allowed to be interested about teens and their culture---including their sexual behaviour---without a predatory incentive. Imagine it's the future and you were in your 30s (this woman isn't probably even there yet, it's just an example), but you remember being a teenager now. Wouldn't you wonder what the kids are doing nowadays?

It's only the next generation from hers, but this journalist's teenage years probably already differs alot from 2000s kids' due to technology advancements. The every day life of a teenager in +2010s might be nearly surreal in comparison. And bear in mind teens can also be a demographic. This one's just blatantly looking for something/someone to pillory.
