"We were smuggled to Belarus." Migrants on the border with Finland told how they got there
Tumblr media
The Finnish publication Yle spoke to several illegal migrants who tried to enter the European Union from russia through Finland. They noted that due to the lack of success in the Belaruthian direction, many are now going from there to the Finnish border for luck.
Maayad Salami, Rayan Alhariri and Kamal Tawil are migrants from the Middle East who illegally crossed the russian-Finnish border a few days ago and then applied for asylum in Finland.
Syrian Maayad Salami said that recently in social networks "the opportunity to enter the European Union through Finland began to be actively advertised" and that is why he, together with five other migrants, came to St. Petersburg, from where a smuggler was supposed to take them to the Finnish border.
"The smuggler told us that the movement from St. Petersburg to the Finnish border was organized by the russian military. We were ordered two Yandex taxis for $100 and delivered closer to the border."
"There were some russian officers and investigators who were interrogating us. They canceled all our visas, took away all our passports, phones and money, and then after 7-8 hours of standing in the cold, they gave us bicycles to cross the border and forbade us to return to russia. They also said that if Finland completely closes the border, all migrants will be redirected to Norway, Estonia or Lithuania," Maayad Salami described his memories.
He added that now there are many migrants in russia who tried unsuccessfully to get from Belarus to Latvia, Lithuania or Poland. According to the Syrian, the topic was actively discussed in Telegram, Facebook and other social networks.
"There is now a huge amount of talk about which Finnish border posts are closed and which are still open," Salami said.
The same thing was confirmed by another Syrian, Ryan Alhariri, who tried unsuccessfully several times to get to Poland and Latvia through Belarus. He shared with Yle the details of his journey from Syria to Finland through Belarus.
"I left Syria and went to Beirut (Lebanon), from there I flew to Abu Dhabi (UAE), then to Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport. There we were smuggled to Belarus, where I unsuccessfully tried several times to get to Poland and Latvia.
"But then we saw in Telegram that the Finnish border is open for those migrants who are in Belarus. We and other migrants arrived in St. Petersburg, from where we were taken by taxi to the Finnish border, where russian soldiers took our phones, passports and money. In return, they gave us bicycles and told us to go to Finland," Alhariri described his journey.

Tumblr media
A third migrant, Kamal Tawil, also said that all his documents and phones were taken from him by the group at the border. But, according to Tavil, they were "detained for a very long time" by the russian military, and then the migrants were given bicycles and forbidden to return to russia.
We remind you that Finland has closed almost all border crossings on the border with russia, leaving only one in the north of the country. Migrants, including those with Belaruthian visas, are trying to get into the country .
Earlier, the border guard of Finland noted that large groups of 20-30 people with improved organization are trying to cross the border at the same time, they are better equipped than before, and they behave more confidently, which "resembles the crisis with Belarus."

Hii~ idk if you talked about it but could you tell us your journey in Japan? How is it + how did you manage to go there (if you want to share ofc!)
It's because I'd like to move to Japan and I'm trying to collect information on how to successfully go there.. so if you have any advice pls lemme know, I'd really appreciate it! Have a great day!
Hi there! I sure can :)
How I Got There
Pretty much everyone I know who came to Japan is an ESL teacher (not surprising given I am an ESL teacher and so are all my colleagues, and when I was doing research I mostly searched Youtube for people's ESL experiences in Japan). The most common route of application is via the JET Program. There are also a number of Eikaiwa companies that hire from abroad and will sponsor your visa (this is what I did - I'm happy to give you the details of my recruiter over a DM if you want). However, pretty much all of these options require you to have a bachelor's degree (doesn't matter what in). The main problem with these kinds of companies is you don't have much control over where in Japan they put you, and typically you won't be in a big city (although you might be in a surrounding area - one guy from my training group is based in Saitama). The pay's also not great (but as long as you live within your means, you'll be very comfortable and you can definitely save up).
Even if teaching English isn't something you fancy, it's probably the easiest way to get into Japan if you have a bachelor's. You don't have to be a native English speaker (although you should be at least a comfortable C1, ideally C2 level), and once you're in Japan you can find a job you actually want much more easily.
You can also try GaijinPot for more jobs - there's a section for people applying from overseas. But please check on places like Reddit or FB groups whether a job seems reasonable before applying; anything that advertises pay "per hour" is unlikely to be a liveable wage, and I've been told 240K/mo in Tokyo is not really sufficient (no problem for me out in the sticks, but Tokyo living costs are crazy).
How It Is
I love the nature here! I live in the Tohoku region so I'm surrounded by mountains and forests and I feel so lucky!
The summer sucks if you aren't a fan of the heat. We had 33-37ºC every day from mid-July to the start of September. I have a colleague who grew up in the UAE and he's been laughing at us all saying how beautiful the weather is, but for me, who is native to a cold and soggy little mound of grass in the Atlantic, it is horrendous. Not to mention the cicadas. Idk if there are cicadas where you live but I was NOT prepared.
You can get by without Japanese, but making the effort will go a LONG way. If you've only ever travelled in Europe or English-speaking countries, you'll probably have the impression that "everyone speaks English to some degree" and that you can always find someone with good enough English to help you. This is not the case in Japan! Your interactions will be very awkward if you don't make the effort. You'll probably be fine in bigger cities but more remote regions will be very difficult to navigate.
I understand Japanese a LOT better than when I first came here. I can still barely speak it, but I'm always surprised by how much I can pick up from the kids from the words I know and context (this is a huge advantage to teaching if learning Japanese is your goal: young kids will babble at you in Japanese CONSTANTLY). I'd probably speak it better if I made the effort to go out and talk to people but I'm shy lol.
I love the job! My colleagues are great and the kids are so much fun. My company does provides really good support and my work-life balance is perfect for me. I also get to use my creative side making classroom materials. But I don't get sick days and I only have 10 paid vacation days, 5 of which are at the end of the year and cannot be moved. I'm also pretty sure most other eikaiwas and Japanese companies will work you a lot harder, and you'll have much longer hours and higher expectations from your company.
Hope that helps! Best of luck with everything. Feel free to shoot me another ask if you have more specific questions!

Everything You Need to Know About the Different Dubai Visa Rates
Dubai has many different visa types, each with advantages and disadvantages. These different visa types, along with the processing times and visa cost, may seem complicated and overwhelming at first, but once you understand how they work, choosing the visa that best fits your needs becomes much more manageable. Read on to learn more about the different Dubai visa rates and which one might be right for you!
Types Of Visas Available
According to Edubaitourism, which is known as the best Dubai Visa Apply Online. There are six types of visas available for visitors to Dubai. These include tourist visas, business visas, private visit visas, Hajj and Umar visas, transit visas, and visit visas for GCC nationals. For tourists, a two-week visa can be obtained with a letter of invitation from an individual or company in Dubai sponsoring your stay in the UAE. Business visas can also be applied for with a letter of invitation from an individual or company in Dubai sponsoring your stay in the UAE. Tourist visas come with many restrictions, such as being able to travel within a designated area during their stay, and they must leave at least one day before their departure date expires. Business visas allow travelers more flexibility with travel plans, but some restrictions will depend on whether you have a work permit or not.
Tumblr media
Application Process
Applying for a visa and getting a residence permit can be time-consuming and costly, so it is vital to understand your options. The Emirate of Dubai offers a variety of visas depending on your nationality, length of stay, employment status, and marital status. To obtain one, you will need to apply for an e-visa which can be done online. Once approved, you will receive an email notification with instructions on printing off the visa and bringing it with you when arriving in the UAE.
Fees
There are a few different visa types available for travelers wishing to visit Dubai. The type of visa issued will depend on the nationality and length of stay that is desired. Below are three options for visitors:
Edubaitourism says that to obtain a visit visa, also known as a tourist visa, there is an AED 340 fee. However, if you're looking for a visit visa that allows you to stay for longer than one month in Dubai or multiple entries within one year of your first entry, you will need to pay an additional AED 775. The residency fee for long-term residents (the type of visa typically obtained by ex-pats) is based on age at registration and nationality: Residents between five and 18 years old are required to pay AED 100; residents between 19 and 30 years old are required to pay AED 500; residents 31 years or older are required to pay AED 1,000.
Conclusion
We hope this guide has helped explain how different visa rates work and how they may impact you. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out! If your company needs help with other aspects of its operations in UAE, we are happy to help with that as well.
It's always important to research when making important decisions, such as applying for a visa to UAE or setting up your business there. Many aspects will affect the outcome of these decisions, and it's best to only choose by understanding them first.
