TechInsights Data Market research agency TechInsights has published a report on the analysis of the smartphone market in China for the third quarter of 2023. Data shows that smartphone shipments in China fell 5% year-on-year in the quarter. The agency analyzed that the continued decline in supplies was due to factors including weak consumer demand and an uncertain economic outlook. However, the rate of decline stabilized during the quarter, indicating that the market is bottoming out. The Chinese market is expected to begin its recovery path in the coming quarters. Huawei Managing Director, Terminal BG CEO, and Smart Car Solutions Chairman Yu Chengdong shared the latest achievements of the HarmonyOS operating system. Since the release of HarmonyOS 4, more than 60 million users have upgraded in just a month, with approximately 1.2 million users updating every day today. This version of HarmonyOS is being installed at a record pace. According to Yu Chengdong, the Huawei Mate60 series is very popular among consumers, and the company's partners are now working overtime to urgently produce new batches of smartphones [caption id="attachment_59713" align="aligncenter" width="780"] HarmonyOS 4[/caption] Yu Chengdong previously stated that China has created more than 30 operating systems based on the open-source HarmonyOS, covering industrial terminals, mobile phones, tablets, and home terminals. In total, there are about 600 million users. Currently, HarmonyOS is the third largest mobile phone operating system in the world. Unlike other systems, HarmonyOS covers not only mobile phones, but also wearable devices, smart screens, cars, and other terminals, and its market share is growing rapidly.

Huawei will probably release its laptops with this OS It seems that next year, Huawei is going to either release HarmonyOS for PC, or release computers directly with this operating system. [caption id="attachment_51945" align="aligncenter" width="563"] HarmonyOS[/caption] At least, Wang Chenglu, former president of the software development department of Huawei Consumer Business Group, answered the corresponding question in the affirmative. Unfortunately, there are no details yet. Huawei talked about HarmonyOS for PC back in 2020. In 2021, the Qingyun L410 laptop was released with the Kirin 990 SoC and the ability to install this OS, but the PC ran UOS 2.0 out of the box. Probably, now we are talking about the release of either the latest HarmonyOS 4.0 or HarmonyOS 5.0 for PC.
