But there is a shutter down strike in the occupied valley. The powerful voice of Azadi Kashmir movement, the elder Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani was born on September 29, 1929 in Zari Manj village of Bandipora district of Occupied Kashmir. Syed Ali Geelani also laid the foundation of active organizations like Hurriyat Conference and Tehreek Hurriyat to gain independence from India. Father of Hurriyat Syed Ali was elected three times assembly member from Soopor constituency in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Syed Ali Gilani spent more than two decades in Indian prisons. He also wrote the book "Rudad Qafs" containing his memoirs during his captivity. The deceased was detained for 11 years following the orders of the usurping Indian governments died on September 01, 2021 in Hyderpura, Srinagar, while his body was wrapped in Pakistani flag and lowered into the coffin. On his death, the funeral prayer was held in absentia and the national flag was hoisted at half-mast in the National Assembly. On the occasion of Pakistan's 73rd Independence Day, the Government of Pakistan honored him with national honors like “Nishan-e-Pakistan” as a tribute to his services for the Kashmir Azadi Movement. Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik's wife Mashaal Malik has paid homage to the great Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani. Special Assistant Mashaal Malik said in her message on the second anniversary of Syed Ali Geelani that his life is a beacon for us, our morale is high. Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik's wife said: “Despite atrocities, India could not suppress Kashmir's freedom movement”. [ad_2]

World community's sustained support crucial for peace in Afghanistan: COAS
Tumblr media
The world community's constructive engagement and sustained humanitarian support for Afghanistan is imperative for enduring peace and stability in the country, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said Friday.
The army chief's comments came during the Corps Commander Conference, which he chaired at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
The meeting's participants took a comprehensive review of the global, regional, and domestic security environment, the military's media wing said in the statement.
The forum was apprised of the prevalent situation in Afghanistan, especially the security along Pak-Afghan Border and effective safeguards in place against various threats, the statement said.
During the meeting, the army chief expressed satisfaction over the efficacy of the comprehensive border management regime due to which Pakistan’s borders and internal security remained intact amid a crisis situation in the region.
The COAS appreciated the army’s support and role in the evacuation of foreigners and Afghan people from Afghanistan to other countries, the military's media wing said.
The army chief appreciated the formations for their efforts for conducting Muharram-related events in a peaceful manner and instructed complete readiness to counter conventional and non-conventional threats.
"The designs of external and internal forces inimical to peace and stability in Pakistan shall be thwarted at all costs," the army chief concluded.
Meanwhile, the forum emphasised close cooperation amongst all regional stakeholders is essential for a prosperous and peaceful region, the statement said.
The forum also paid homage to Syed Ali Shah Geelani for his lifelong struggle and sacrifices as leader of the indigenous freedom movement in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
A symbol of the Kashmiri freedom movement, and former chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Ali Geelani had passed away last week in the Indian-occupied Kashmir city of Srinagar.
The forum also expressed solidarity with Kashmiri people who continue facing Indian state oppression and violence, the military's media wing added.
The development came shortly after Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had urged the international community to recognise the new reality in Afghanistan and engage with it for peace and stability in the region.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad along with his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares, FM Qureshi had said that isolating Afghanistan will have serious consequences.
The top Pakistan diplomat said the approach of intimidation, pressure and coercion has not worked and we got to adopt a new positive approach regarding Afghanistan.
A day earlier, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William Joseph Burns held a meeting with COAS Bajwa and discussed the evolving situation in Afghanistan, a statement from the ISPR had said.
The ISPR had said that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General Lt Gen Faiz Hameed was also present during the meeting, which focused on the Afghanistan situation and regional security after the US withdrawal and the formation of the Taliban government in Kabul.
“It was reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to cooperating with its international partners for peace in the region and ensuring a stable and prosperous future for [the] Afghan people,” the ISPR said.

Pakistan condemns India’s ‘barbaric act’ of snatching Syed Ali Geelani’s mortal remains
Tumblr media
Pakistan on Thursday condemned in strong words the “barbaric act” of snatching the mortal remains of the iconic Kashmiri leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, from his family by the Indian authorities.
Geelani was laid to rest in a tight military siege at Haiderpora in Srinagar early Thursday morning under the close watch of the Indian security forces. Indian authorities had put strict restrictions on people's movement and the whole area was cordoned off.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar in a statement said, as the family was preparing for the last rites of Syed Geelani, that a heavy contingent of the occupation forces raided his residence in Srinagar, harassed family members and snatched Syed Geelani’s body.
“When the family members told the raiding party that Syed Geelani’s will was to be buried in the ‘Cemetery of Martyrs’ in Srinagar, they were reportedly told that India would not allow Geelani’s burial at the place of his choosing,” he said.
The FO spokesperson said the government of India is so afraid of Geelani and what he stood for, that they have now resorted to this inhuman act even after his passing away.
“This shows the degree of callousness on part of the Occupation Forces and demonstrates beyond doubt that India would trample all civil and human values in perpetuating its occupation of IIOJK,” the statement added.
Indian media subsequently reported that Geelani has been buried. A curfew has been imposed in the valley and all internet services suspended.
The spokesperson urged the international community to take serious note of this unprecedented and egregious situation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir and hold India to account for its breaches of international human rights and humanitarian laws.
Although Geelani and his family wanted him to be buried at the Cemetery of Martyrs in Srinagar, Indian authorities did not allow it, fearing agitation from people of occupied Kashmir.
He was buried just a few meters away from his house in Haiderpora, Srinagar.
A small number of people mainly some close relatives were allowed to participate in the funeral prayers and to have a last glimpse of the martyred leader.
The Indian army had laid restrictions all across the occupied valley to prevent a mammoth gathering on Geelani's funeral.
“Soon after the news of Syed Ali Geelani’s demise spread out, announcements were made from mosques around Srinagar calling out people to come out of their homes to pay homage to Syed Ali Geelani,” according to a Radio Pakistan report.
However, Indian authorities, the report added, used coercive measures to dissuade people from coming out of their homes. Several Hurriyat leaders and activists including Mukhtar Ahmad Waza have been rounded up by the Indian authorities as well.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has also fervently appealed to the people of Kashmir to come out of their homes and hold a large protest against the cruelty of the Modi regime.
