"Akira, over here," he waved at the sage to get his attention. "Chrom was up a tree. Don't ask. it's better for you. He quickly jumps off the tree, dusts himself and walks towards the Sage. "Found you!" (so this is why he was on a tree..) "Unlike the wizards, I can't detect where you are so I was waiting for you to pass by here." like what a proper prince would do .. sigh. No wonder why Frederick is gaining grey hair faster.
"I got gifts for you!" he opened a bag he was carrying. He took out a small sized cloth bag. "Big sister's gift," it was a nice blend of tea. "And this one from Lissa," who was not crushing a little bit on him. shh. The plastic bag had a lot of baked tiny heart chocolate biscuits.
"And this is from me," he took out a book. "This is one of my favorite tales--the tale of the Saint King." with a grin on his face, he handed all the gifts to Akira. "Happy Devotion day, Akira!"
…That still didn't explain it, though?!
(At the very least he wasn't hidden within the leaves, unlike many, many other times...)
'You could've just asked them...?' is what they don't say, a somewhat tired, but fond, smile forming on their lips. It's reassuring watching him act like this, someone they had found to carry more on his shoulders than a person should, silly and childish with an idea few would've come up with. I was waiting for you; words they hold close to their heart, tucked away until they could memorialize them in their journal.
He continues with the gifts, and even though Akira seems surprised for a moment the warmth never leaves. Even Emmeryn... All of them were kind people, they knew that, but for all of them to present them with something so dear... There was still times when Akira missed their home so badly it hurt, and while they knew that feeling wouldn't come to an end, being thought of like this gently wrapped that homesickness into a blanket, carefully listening and caring.
"Thank you, Chrom, I don't know what to say... I'm so very grateful to all three of you", being trusted with someone's favorite things was a great honor, and their smile grows wider.
There was just a tiny, little problem.
"Um...if you ever have the time...would you like to read it with me? I'd love to hear about all of your favorite parts. And...I...can't read the language in this world...haha..."
