Shinsou Hitoshi x gn!reader - birthday fic!

warnings: none! wordcount: 1.3k words content: birthday fic, fluff, confessions, friends to lovers, getting together, timeskip, pro hero! shinsou and reader, it’s simply pure fluff birthday fic for best boy!, this isn’t beta-read btw i wrote it in 1 hour and then ran here to put it on here for yall to see, sorry for any mistakes!

notes: it’s shinsous birthday! as you all are very well aware of i am entirely off my rockers when it comes to my beautiful boy....... but i have been BUSYBUSY so this is all i can give him<3 i hope you enjoy giving him a birthday kiss or two hehe!!!

”Why didn’t you tell me that it’s your birthday?”

You’re following Shinsou around the store, trailing behind him as he calmly fills up the basket with the needed ingredients for tonight’s dinner. ”I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it – can’t I just want to have a nice dinner with my best friend tonight?” he asks and you feel the tension roll off of him in waves – you suspect it’s due to him wanting a no-big-deal birthday evening but what you don’t know is that the tension is from his fear of rejection – he didn’t want you to know it’s his birthday because a) he dislikes the day and b) he’d thought about confessing to you today, to make the day about something other than what it already is – but he didn’t want you to know that, didn’t want to make you feel pressured to accept his feelings. So when Midoriya had spilled the beans at the office today, he’d cringed and even found himself denying his birthday, as if you’d fall for that (he’s not surprised if Midoriya did it on purpose).

You’d waited an hour for him at the office after your own shift ended so you could go grocery shopping together for tonight. You’re picky and Shinsou knows that, wants to involve you in the process of tonight’s dinner as much as possible to make it a success – he’d used the approval of their winter holiday request as the excuse for this… celebration yet the truth had come out (though, didn’t it always slip through the cracks when it came to you?)

Shinsou hears you hum behind him as he hopes you decide to let it go – maybe he could ask that as his birthday present? You not pushing this subject. He’s about to ask you which mayonnaise you’d prefer when you gasp dramatically behind him. He turns around and sees you bent over the small railing for store-bought cakes. You look at him with stars in your eyes, “can we get one? Please?” he laughs at you while shaking his head. Before he can turn it down and tell you he’s got ice cream at home for tonight – tiramisu ice cream – you already pout and lift a finger at him, “I promise to not be mad about the birthday thing if you agree!”

 Now that’s an interesting proposal. Shinsou doesn’t like when you’re mad at him – guilt always consumes him and gives him stomach aches. Even though you’ve only known each other for eight months, you’ve become closer than Shinsou’s ever tried with another human being before – it’s taken him two whole months to accept his feelings for you and lots and lots of annoying therapy-like conversations with Midoriya and Iida. So he sighs and raises the basket towards you, motioning for you to put a cake into it. You do a victory dance that Shinsou feels lucky to laugh at as you pick out which cake looks the best – when you’re done grocery shopping you each go home, him to prepare dinner and get ready and you to get ready at your own place. After patrols you’d both appreciate a shower.

  It’s 6.30PM and you ring his doorbell – not before doing one or two breathing exercises mind you, trying to calm your nerves. You’d thought about confessing to him today, telling him how you feel – if he rejects you, you just hope he’ll continue to be your friend. He’d planned this as an excuse to celebrate your holiday approval and it’d been the perfect opportunity, right? But then you found out it was his birthday – his birthday! Of all things! You possibly can’t take the shine away from such an important date, imagine if he doesn’t feel the same – then he’d have to handle rejecting you on his birthday! No thank you, you’ve decided. He doesn’t deserve to handle that on his special day.

 He opens the door and you can see the way he lights up and how a smile grows on his face as he sees you – you feel your cheeks heating up at being looked at with that much excitement – it’s situations like these that are the ones you’ve been tallying in your mind and helped making you decide it’d be safe to confess. You lean in for a hug and he squeezes you tight, giving you his usual peck on the cheek – you’ve often found yourself wishing you had the courage to turn your head and make him hit your lips just to see what’d happen.

  You cough into your arm as he’s rinsing the last plate of soap, waiting for him to hand it to you so that you can dry it off and put it back on the shelf. Shinsou’s animatedly talking about the new episode in The Kardashians – sharing an apartment with Kaminari for a year really did damage to his brain and now he’s addicted to certain… reality-shows. He’s not invested outside of the show but invested enough to follow along as he watches it. You laugh and put the plate on the shelf. When you turn back around, you’re caught off guard by the intense look he’s harboring, staring at your form – it takes him fully three more seconds to realize that you’ve turned back around and he composes himself and smiles at you, “there’s actually… something I have to talk to you about.”

 You inhale sharply and straighten up your back, the intensity he uses on the battlefield evident in his voice. He raises an arm, “don’t worry it’s nothing big!”

 You try to visibly relax but it’s mostly for show, still unsure what he’s acting like that for. You try to smile at him and he jumps up on the kitchen counter, motioning you to do the same next to him. You sit there a little while, both backs leaning against the backsplash. You’re about to ask him, inquire and maybe help him open up when he clears his throat and grabs your hand from the counter, refusing to meet your eyes, “what I’m about to say might… change how you look at me – or how you even want us to be but…”

 Your heartrate picks up and you have a feeling about where he’s going with this – you’re afraid you’re conceited though and he’s about to say something entirely different. In a rush of adrenaline you let out a weird, half-whine, half-scream to make him stop talking. He turns to you with a raised eyebrow and finally looks at you. You notice the pink tint to his cheeks and hold back a laugh. You take in a deep breath before you squeeze his hand reassuringly and slowly lean forward – he seems frozen in place though his eyes never stop moving. They flick from your eyes to your lips down to where your hands are connected and back to your lips – right before your lips reaches his, you notice how he hurriedly closes his eyes upon contact, making you smile into the kiss.

 He whines when you pull back and follows you, making you kiss again. You don’t hold back your laugh this time, especially not when he buries his head into your neck with a small chuckle of his own, “that was a…” you lick your lips, “…birthday kiss.”

 You feel him tense and you smile, deciding that you shouldn’t tease him like this anymore. “I love you, Shinsou. I wanted to be the first one to say it, I’m sorry I’m selfish on your birthday.”

 He draws in a breath and openly scents your neck, kissing it gently, almost with no pressure. There are a few beats of silence as he quietly enjoys the closeness that you’re both encompassed in before you clear your throat. He retreats, ever so slowly, and kisses you again, his hand traveling to cup the back of your head. This time, it’s you who’s whining into the kiss from the sheer pressure of it and you feel him suck in a breath through his nose, “you’re killing me,” he whispers, leaning his forehead against yours, “thank you for this birthday present.”

dts s5 e3-5

e3: -"i am perfect 🥰" fuck u know what sometimes the charles leclerc charm does get to me ngl -"breaking america is very important" OH IS IT. let andretti join then -i'll say it. miami isn't that bad. you can critisize the consumerism of it all without being so anti-america yall -fuck caitlyn jenner but her gushing to christian horner abt how great it is that ferrari is winning is iconic -i did watch this season but i did after the fact /knowing/ max was gonna win in the end. its sorta hitting me how it did really look like, oh my god, charles could really win here. just lookin at his lil face thinking how much did he get his hopes up. how much did i hurt, watching it slip away. how do u even handle that emotionally -i know i've talked abt this before but when i was binging the 2022 season i got super drunk before/while watching miami and when i woke up in the morning i remembered basically nothing other than carlos taking his shirt off (priorities). i watched the race highlights sober and was surprised by the lando crash. lol -if anything this rewatch is putting me back in my max girlie era. chomp chomp chomp. and/or i'm ovulating. combination of both -cannot wait for padel game 2023 edition on dts. it will be superior i know it -i do think its wierd that theyre framing (trying to) prioritize charles as a mean thing to do when its exactly what merc did in 2021 for lewis and it was 100% necessary both times. the guy who said 'ferrari won with the wrong car' wasnt wrong thats just how this shit works!!! -idk why dts couldn't just explain that max has non terminal but non fixable damage and thats why he was so damn slow. i feel like it wouldve been so easy to just mention. give context to why he couldnt get back up there -i dont think having multiple episodes focus on the same race from different perspectives is the worst thing ever, but i do think they fucked it up here by having the silverstone episodes back 2 back 2 back...... at least mix it up a lil. put another episode inbetween so we've forgotten by the time its being rehashed is it rly that hard

e4: -"i would've fucked the whole paddock" you know what maybe gunther IS iconic. maybe i will miss him a lil -i'm not a mick girlie but he is such a sweet boy. gunther count ur days :) -being reminded that michael and jos were teammates is such a jumpscare. how did that happen -"its not about proving them wrong, its about proving yourself right." HES SUCH A SMART N WISE LIL BOY. MWAH MWAH MWAH -that was a legitimately terrifying high speed crash. like a crash is a crash but the way that car got torn up is insane -STAY AWAY FROM OLLIE BEARMAN BTW -kevin supporting mick is So Important like an older sibling trying to break the cycle w/ a shitty parent. kevin i love u -ALSO underrated ship. btw -respectfully. as someone who knows nothing abt cars. if the haas keeps having problems splitting in half during crashes mayb. its a car issue. just a thought -faldskjfalksjf but this monaco crash: thinkin abt during the race, kevin had a mechanical dnf nearly the same time, so when the camera cut from mick's smashed car to kevin standing on the side of the track, looking disappointed, there was legitimate confusion on who fucking crashed. anyway that goes to show MAYBE THE CAR IS JUST SHIT -sebmick. is indeed. important -i love the way mick thinks his name is only a blessing. i just love seeing other people be brutally positive in the face of adversity bc its what i aspire to try to do too. its a good mindset to have i hope he is doin well now <3 -small children humbling tf out of christian horner is so important actually -i'm so glad daniel knew what he was worth with haas. i'm so glad they couldn't damn afford him. as he should 💅 -mick & max ALSO underrated ship. this man is so shippable -i am glad max n mick got to have this lil battle tho. they got to have what their dads predicted finally :)

e5: -ok so this is actually the most recent dts episode ive seen since before i started the rewatch, right after otmar got fired i watched it as a fun lil victory lap. this'll be fun lets goooooooo -otmar as a man is such a walking ick. even if i dislike other TPs at least they dont give me the ick. thats the second most unforgivable crime otmar has committed -i'm sorry the way otmar left AM bc he didnt like lawrence as a boss only to sign up to work for LAURENT ROSSI????? u have to laugh -i've said it before and i'll say it again nando n estie were fucking raw 100% -even if mclaren continued to be shit and alpine didn't implode oscar still made the right choice bc CLEARLY otmar was keen on keeping the nandoestie lineup for as long as fucking possible. and then he gets mad when oscar realizes that and bails??? i hate this man sm -'je m'appelle yuki. merci' iconic dts quote. yall if dts didnt exist we wouldnt have this be grateful -ok. so i know when this season came out this whole dando in the parking garage bit got some heat bc apparently that was not at paul ricard like the episode implies. but honestly. listen. netflix got a fun lil moment with daniel and lando. they didnt have anywhere else to put it. was there really any harm with having it squeezed in there. its not like ppl thinking theres a parking garage at paul ricard is super damaging misinformation. pls find real solid criticisms of dts instead of this kinda bitchin and moanin THANK U -HI SEBCHAL CRUMBS -ok um. not 2 tinhat here but i know dts got some heat for not having enough women in this season. did they go back and add these bits with jennie gow after she recovered from her stroke i dont remember her being here. its fine i just dont particularly like how netflix can go back n change shit -i hate birthdays i get so much second hand cringe from this. if i never get sung happy birthday again ever in my life that would be ideal -how many times has nando left and gone back to renault/alpine? god its like a girl who wont stop getting back together with a cheating bf and then being surprised when he cheats again oh fernando left ur team WATER IS WET BABES -ok what i'm getting is otmar is bad at getting contracts finalized in a timely manner and maybe this is his damn fault :) -'lets show him he made the wrong choice' you have to laugh ladjfaklsjdfaljd

His hair is bouncy and curly and chestnut brown, and his jumper is snot-stained and smells like Tom Ford cologne and his slacks are wrinkled and his socks are mismatched, and he has a genius IQ and he’s a child prodigy and he goes to Harvard Medical School and he’s a painter and Louis knows he sleeps on his tummy, and he pouts when he wants something, and the way he giggles when he’s happy, and Louis knows how he sounds when he’s about to come and how he bites Louis’ lip when they make out, and he drives an expensive car and he lives in a mansion and he has a private chef and a pink record player and he loves old music and he loves keeping things organized and he loves beautiful things, and he drinks fruity cocktails and martinis, and he’s scared of his parents and he clings to Louis like Louis means everything.

There’s a split second where Louis regrets what he’s said.

Then, “I’m in love with you too,” Harry says, wearing the most beautiful, glowing smile Louis’ ever seen in his entire twenty six years of life, and Louis doesn’t regret a single goddamn thing.

i think i was most surprised at myself in adrenaline for putting so much of my own life into it, theres a lot of shit in there that is personal on some level n a lot of things that kind of reflect certain parts of myself ive felt at certain times, n i dont normally do that in fic i think

oh my goodness so muCH !!! this year i rly did make writing a huge part of my life, i really really developed my writing style for the first time, i published a longshot fic for the first time, i think i rly rediscovered my passion for it this year n im so happy im a fandom author now its my Calling

i wanna post longer fics and with stories i feel passionately about !! rn my wip is abt something v important to me, i wanna keep expanding on that n write from more of a personal place in the future

a gay students guide to 1989 !!! im SOSOSOSO excited for it to be finished its been such a project so far and its gonna be posted a lil later than expected but im gonna make sure its worth it , this fic means the world to me and its like one of the most personal things ive ever written :”)
