“Alright inmates, listen up! There’s been some budget cuts. For the time being, the old west wing building will be taken by overflow from the women’s prison.”
The guard’s voice was overtaken by wolf whistles and hollers.
“That’s enough! Now you will not share a building with them. You will not see them during meals. However the courtyards do share a fence. If you are caught harassing them in any way, you will be punished accordingly!”
The announcement had caught the attention of just about every inmate, except one. Spencer Reid had bigger problems to worry about than women. He didn’t get them outside of prison, so why should he worry about them on the inside. He needed to worry about how to stay safe, stay alive until his name was cleared. That is, until he met you.

I sat on the bleachers, popping some bubble gum as I searched for some worthwhile eye candy. The sun was a bit hot so I shrugged my button down off my shoulders, opting to tie it around my waist, leaving me in a white tank. This of course leads to many wondering eyes and a few whistles from the men’s side of the fence. I’m not even sure what i’m looking for, but none of the men giving me the time of day have it. I finally notice a slender man sitting on the men’s bleachers, just a few feet away from the fence on his side. I scoot up , slipping my fingers through the women’s chain-link side. Of course I could never touch any of them, with each side having about four feet between their respective fences. But there were no rules against looking or talking even.
“Hey. Think too hard and you’re gonna mess up that pretty face of yours.”
He looks up a bit startled, but his posture changes once his gaze lands on me. He almost looks shy, which seems in direct contrast to his rugged look. But once I look in his eyes, I see depth and warmth and kindness that belongs far away from this place, and it hurts me for a moment, to think of what will happen to him here.
“I don’t bite. The name is Y/L/N. Got in for killing my ex husband. How about you?”
He blinked, speechless at first.
“Doc- I’m uh, Spencer Reid. They think I killed someone too…”
“Well, didn’t you?”
He shook his head. Based on the look in his eyes, I want to believe him I really do.
“Did you know that incarceration of women has been growing at twice the rate of men’s incarceration?”
“Now how in the world would you know that?”
He simply shrugged.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to talk if you don’t want to. Just looked like you could use some company is all.”
He looked like he wanted to respond, he really did. But before he got the chance, the women were called back inside.
I give a quick salute. “Nice meetin ya Spencer Reid. See ya when I see ya.”
___________________________________________
The next time I saw him he looked different. Scared, fragile, and a bit bloodied up.
“Hey- what uh- I mean, are you okay?”
He refused to look up or give much of an answer. But he was sitting in the same spot, close enough for us to have another conversation so I have to believe he wanted to talk again.
“I’m guessing you’re relatively new. It happened to me too ya know. Especially when I wouldn’t just go along with everything they asked.”
That drew his attention, and I could see tears in his eyes.
“You can’t let them see they get to you, that you’re scared. I learned that long before I got here though. That’s why I killed him ya know- he hurt me and I couldn’t just take it anymore. Police wouldn’t listen. I just wanted it to stop.”
“I’m so sorry.”
“I shrugged it off. I’m paying my time but I’m safer in here than I ever felt with him.”
“Can you keep a secret?”
Now he has my attention. I nod, trying not to seem too excited to be sharing schoolyard secrets with the handsome stranger.
“I uh, was in the FBI. I was framed by a, well you can almost call her an arch nemesis of sorts.” He laughed to himself. It was a warm sort of laugh that filled me with butterflies. “I was just trying to get medicine for my mom. She has Alzheimer’s and schizophrenia. She was getting worse and I-“ his words are quickly cut off by the sounds of sniffles.
“Why are you telling me this?” I don’t mean it to be rude, but I had to know.
“I guess you could say I’m good at reading people and- you’re not a bad person. I trust you.”
In that moment, our eyes met again, but something new was there. Desire? Lust? Caring? Who knows. But that was the start of something. Of daily meetings, and quiet longing.
Day after day we would sit by our fences, sharing stories of our lives before prison. I learned that he was kind, hard-working, and actually quite funny. Spencer Reid was the best company I’d had in years, and not just within the prison walls.
He also told me about the rough time of it he was having on his own side. I gave him pointers where I could. How to get in with the right people, how to avoid the wrong ones, and how to get himself safe when necessary.
At one point, the politics on his side did endanger his life, and that’s when we came up with the plan together. A plan that would help take down the very man targeting him while getting Spencer somewhere safe for now. This meant I wouldn’t see him while he was in solitary, but we both knew it was necessary.
We never spoke about exactly what it was we wanted but- it was there. We devoured one another with our eyes. Biting and licking lips, drawn out breaths, and lingering gazes. We knew.
I watched him change overtime. His hair and beard grew yes, but so did this darkness in his eyes. The soft, Bambi-eyed boy was seemingly gone, replaced by a man who needed to hurt someone, anyone. And oh was I ready to let him hurt me.
I waited by the fence each day for his return, but it never came. I finally decided to ask around until I heard something that thrilled me but also left a huge gaping hole in me.
“He left.”
I couldn’t be happier for him. Had they cleared his name? From the sound of it, federal agents, friends of his had come to retrieve him. I could only hope that he was safe and happy.
Then one day I received a letter.
Dear Y/N,
I miss you. Just you. You made my time there worthwhile, worth missing. There’s so much more I wanted to say to you, and a letter just won’t do it justice. I have a feeling you’ll be out on parole sooner than you think. Come find me when you can. I’ll be in D.C..
Counting the days,
Spencer
____________________________________________
Parole? I had at least another year before that could even be a consideration. But I started counting too, which didn’t last long. Imagine my surprise when I got out on parole only two weeks after receiving the letter.
Did he- no he couldn’t, could he? Spencer had been gone for months. Clearly he had cleared his name, thank goodness. I knew I needed to see him as soon as possible.
I couldn’t leave the state, but luckily I didn’t need to. With what little I had, I made my way to D.C.. I figured I’d start out at the return address on the envelope, the one I clung to like my life depended on it.
With a bag slung over my shoulder, I raised my hand with the letter to hesitantly knock on the door, completely unsure of what to expect on the other side.
My mouth fell open at the sight before me. Spencer Reid in a cardigan, a tie? I had never seen him outside the prison. He looked so put together. And all I could think about was how much I wanted to tear him apart. I did my best to suppress my lust in hopes of a civil and normal greeting.
I don’t know what I expected. Tears, hugs maybe? We stood there staring at each other for who knows how long before I finally spoke. I’d had a well rehearsed speech in my head. One I’d had two whole weeks to work on since he sent the letter. But that all went out the window the second I saw his face again.
“Hi.”
“Hey.”
Who was I kidding? We could see it in eachother’s eyes, the same desire from before, but stronger somehow. Maybe because it was quite literally within reach. Months of daydreaming about what it would feel like to touch him, kiss him, get absolutely railed by him.
The man I had met initially was so gentle, timid. I watched him change in that prison. I had initially imagined ruining him, breaking him for my own pleasure. By the time he left I wanted something completely different. I wanted him to do the breaking. I wanted him to use me for his own personal pleasure. And he knew it.
He grabbed my face to pull me in for an all consuming kiss that quite literally took my breath away. I had to pull back, gasping for air before I could get any words out.
“Missed you too.” I smiled.
“Can we take this to my bedroom?” The words came out rushed, as though he might die if he couldn’t have me in that very moment.
I give an enthusiastic nod. A small squeal and uncharacteristic giggle leaves my lips as he scoops me up in his arms, whisking me away to his bedroom.
“I’ve been waiting so long for this,” he pants, frantically removing his clothes. “Can you get undressed and lay down on your stomach for me?”
I follow his orders without question. He leans down by my ear and asks one question. “Safe word?”
“Cherry blossom.”
“Anything off limits?”
I don’t even have to think. “No, I trust you.”
Next thing I know I feel soft silk over my eyes as he ties a blindfold in place. This allows me to focus on the sounds of whatever else he is preparing. I hear a distinctly familiar jingle of metal, which is confirmed as it touches the skin of my wrists. Handcuffs. I wiggle my hips in delight, which earns me a playful spank.
“Like what you see?”
“I definitely can’t complain.” I can almost hear his smirk.
His fingers dig into my hips before pulling them up in the air. I feel cold air hit my core immediately.
“Fucking beautiful.”
Without any warning I feel a finger coated in cool lubricant coating my other opening.
“Try and relax for me, beautiful.” His fingers run through some of my hair, dragging across the skin of my back and I feel my muscles immediately follow his command. I attempt to mentally and physically prepare for whatever could be coming next.
I feel him work in what feels to be a decent sized anal plug. I’ve tried them before but only by myself. I’m already enjoying the added stimulation. My hips jolt when he suddenly brings his head down to lick up through my slit and I can’t help but yell.
“Fuck!”
“Mmm you like that, dirty girl? You’re quite literally dripping for me.”
He says it so calmly, I can hardly wrap my head around how smooth he’s being.
“Yes sir, please!” I beg.
“Please what, hmmm? What do you need?”
“Need you to eat my pussy please sir!”
Damn I sound absolutely pathetic. To think I ever considered myself a feminist. So much for my leg up on domineering men. Here I am willingly let one take me, have me anyway he wants. And that’s just the way I want it too. For Spencer Reid, I would be anything he needed.
“Good girl.” The two words have me writhing in pleasure with the combined sensation of his tongue back on the place I need it most. He sucks and laps at me like I'm his favorite dessert . He reads my body like a book, every movement and moan. He knows just what I need, when to let up, when to push harder. It’s unfair just how talented his mouth is.
And then, I’m coming undone on that beautiful mouth of his. Too bad I can’t see it. But oh it’s all I can imagine as waves of pleasure wreck my body and he’s running his fingers down my back, squeezing my ass as he gets in his final victory licks.
There’s a distinct sound of a condom wrapper, and I appreciate the consideration. I feel him sit on the bed next to me, against the headboard perhaps?
“Come sit on my lap.” His voice is dark and commanding, and my body is already responding with a fresh dose of arousal.
“But I can’t see sir.”
“No excuses. Come sit on my lap or you won’t get to come again.”
Not only can I not see, but my hands are still handcuffed behind my back. Not to mention my knees are weak from my most recent orgasm. This oughta be interesting. I try to scoot on my knees towards where I had heard his voice, only to lose my balance once I bump into his legs. I fall face first into his lap. Not the worst position to be in. I hear a soft, dark chuckle above me.
“Poor pathetic thing, are you already too weak? Can you handle another one?”
I swear, I never knew I was into degradation and humiliation. I don’t even know if I truly am, it's just something about him, about Spencer, that turns me on with everything he does.
“Yes sir, please! Please I can handle it! Let me try!”
I feel his fingers grasp my jaw, pulling my face up till I’m sitting on my knees again. I can feel his breath on my face and I wish I could just lean in and feel his lips on mine. My wish is granted for just a second. I feel his plush lips brush against mine, but they’re gone just as quick.
“Pretty thing. Let me help you, hmm.”
His long fingers wrap around my hips and guide me till I’m sitting in his lap, one leg on either side.
“Do you think you can ride me without your hands for balance?
“Yes sir!” I nod with an embarrassing eagerness.
“Show me, baby.”
I raise up and with his guidance again, lower myself until he’s making sure my other hole is filled as well.
Each bounce against his lap is adding pressure against the plug, combined with the bump of his cock against my cervix. With no sight, I’m so in tune with every sensation, especially the way his fingers feel roaming every inch of my body. He’s pinch my nipples, grabbing my ass, tugging at my hair. I may have been the one begging but he was clearly just as desperate.
When he decided he needs more, Spencer grabs my hips and starts thrusting up into me at a completely
ridiculous pace.
“You look so pretty bouncing on my cock. See for yourself, little girl.”
Before I have time to realize what he means, his beautiful fingers are ripping the silk away from my eyes, only to be met with absolutely heavenly eyes. They’re golden, warm, filled with lust but also something kinder. They devour my body like I’m his goddess. I absolutely love watching him enjoy the view. He licks his lips hungrily as he watches my breasts bounce and the way he looks sliding in and out of me.
Spencer pulls me in so he can leave a trail of kisses along my shoulders and neck. I love the way my face feels buried in his soft curls, he smells of lavender shampoo and it’s intoxicating. When he pulls back he’s got a knowing smirk on his face.
“What?”
In seemingly one move, I’m off his lap, on my back, with my hands pinned over my head.
“But the hand cuffs? How did you-“
Instead of answering he silenced me with an all consuming kiss. We’re biting, sucking, moaning, on one another like animals in heat. I can’t help but feel sorry for his poor neighbors.
He keeps my hands pinned above my head while realigning himself ready to pick back up where he left off. Before I can even register what’s happening he’s pounding into me like it’s his fucking job.
“You feel that? You feel how perfectly I fill you up? So pretty with my cock in you. Fuck- you take it so well!”
Words are gone from my mind. I’m left with moans, tears, and one name. Spencer.
“Spencer!”
He lets go of my arms and they instinctively wrap around his neck as I use my legs around his hips bringing him close.
“I’ve got you pretty girl. I’m here. Be a good little thing and come for me. Come on.”
I’m wrecked, shaking and moaning, unsure if I’ll ever be able to stop. He’s right there with me, filling me up in the best way. The pleasure is intensified by the extra pressure from the plug. I cling to him for dear life as I ride off my high, enjoying the way he looks above me. He’s angelic with the light sheen of sweat causing his skin to glisten in the low lighting, the natural sparkle of his eyes, the way his curls fall in his face, the pretty pink lips softly parted as he pants.
He’s dominant but also so soft and kind with me. It's clear tonight he cared about my pleasure just as much as his own. Maybe I don’t ever have to let him go. Maybe we can just stay here, twisted up in one another, blissfully unaware of all our troubles and the world around us.
I’m embarrassed at how much I whine as he gets off of me and slips away into the bathroom. I don’t know why I was surprised when he returns with a warm washcloth and lotion. He’s cleaning me up, tending to my wrists and any other spots sore from friction, and removing the plug. All the while he’s littering my skin with gentle kisses, all along my back and shoulders, my hips, my chest, my face. I’ve never been so pampered.
“Are you okay?” His voice is sweet and smooth like honey, leaving me tingling in the wake of its sweetness.
“Never better.” I leave kisses across his knuckles and he gives me that look again, like I’m the most beautiful thing he’s ever laid eyes on.
After some convincing, I get up to use the bathroom, returning to a very sweet looking boy waiting for me under the covers, looking up with puppy dog eyes. I see the man I first met in the courtyard months ago. The one that stole my heart. I slip into the spot next to him, and we tangle back together, skin against skin. It’s so warm, soft, inviting and I think I’ll stay forever.

Celebrate 10 Years of ‘Constellations’ With August Burns Red’s 10 Favorite Moments From The Writing, Recording & Touring Process
Tumblr media
When it comes to most album anniversary tours, some fans tend to think those 10, 15 or even 20-year treks are just for the longtime listeners and nostalgia chasers. Instead, many seem to forget about the bands actually playing those beloved records on a nightly basis.
Take metalcore juggernauts August Burns Red, for example. Gearing up for their 10-year anniversary tour for 2009′s groundbreaking LP Constellations, the seasoned outfit has thoroughly enjoyed tour prep as they’ve run through songs like “The Escape Artist” and reminisced about some of their fondest decade-old memories.
Be it playing tour games on the road, surviving terrifying snowstorms or the impact of playing “Indonesia” live for the first time in the Southeast Asian country, looking back on 10 years since Constellations was released, JB Brubaker, Brent Rambler, Matt Greiner, Dustin Davidson and Jake Luhrs have all accrued memories that will last a lifetime.
Speaking with The Noise about some of those life-changing Constellations moments, Brubaker, Rambler, Greiner and Davidson compiled 10 of their all-time favorite memories from the writing, recording and touring process dating all the way back to 2007. To check out the list to get you even more pumped for August Burns Red’s upcoming tour, be sure to see below. Afterward, to grab tickets, head here.
Lastly, if you’d like a chance to win free tickets – yes, FREE! – head here.

The Constellations recording process and touring cycle houses many fond memories for all of us. Here are three of my personal favorites that stick out. Let’s get cracking in chronological order!
“White Washed”
The lyrics for “White Washed” were some of the first more aggressive and “angry” lyrics that I had ever tried to write at the time. However, the words flowed like water because they were very in the moment. I started working on them immediately after a youth pastor surrounded me with a group of teenagers directly outside of our tour van. He proceeded to condemn [me] and the other members of the band simply for having a case of beer on our [tour] rider. He wanted to try and make an example of me in front of all the kids he brought with him. The whole thing was super inappropriate and out of line, BUT the lyrics for one of our most popular songs came out of it so it was worth it!
First Home
The recording process for Constellations was extra exciting for me because literally a week before we left I had an offer accepted for my first house. I remember being very proud because it was a big moment in proving to everyone that I could earn a living off of making music. For weeks while we recorded, I was heading to notaries and post offices to work on the closing process of the home, and since we were in Florida while making the album, I had to sign over power of attorney and do the sale over the phone. We returned home super late from Florida, but instead of crashing at my parents where all of my things were, I grabbed the keys and just sat in my new house.
Chicago House Of Blues
Constellations came out while we were on tour in the summer of 2009. The tour had some cool highlights, but I think the biggest one was selling out the Chicago House of Blues for the first time. At that moment it was our biggest headline show ever and packing such a notable venue felt amazing. Afterwards, we had a big celebration with the other bands backstage and it capped off a great night!

“Put Him Up!”
In December of 2009, we were on the road with Underoath and Emery. We became really good friends with the guys in Emery and would hang out with them every night after the shows. They had purchased their own passenger bus and gutted it and turned it into a tour bus. It was DIY but so cool. We’d hang out, drink beers, have dance parties and tell stories. Emery taught us one “game” that we still play on our tour bus today. Occasionally, when someone new would walk on the bus, Toby (Emery’s bassist/vocalist) would slowly start chanting “Put him up! Put him up!” The chant would catch on with other people on the bus until everyone was shouting it, at which point the newcomer would be picked up and crowd surfed to the ceiling of the bus. It was basically a “welcome to the party” greeting and always got a good laugh. We are happy to continue to carry the tradition on a decade later.
Touring Australia
It was August of 2009. Constellations had recently come out and we were invited by Parkway Drive to support them on a tour across Australia. It was our first time in Australia and an honor to be supporting them. They were the hottest metal band on the continent and drawing huge crowds. After the monster travel day to Australia, we arrived to find a bunch of luggage didn’t make it. Qantas Airlines outfitted us with small care packages to keep us afloat until our baggage was recovered. Inside were heather gray sweat shorts and matching t-shirts. The first show was in Brisbane at an outdoor hillside [venue] called Riverstage. They were expecting 7,000 people which was more people than we had ever played for at that time. When we were setting up our equipment on stage before the show, I failed to take into account the voltage difference between Australia and the US. I plugged in my pedal board and heard a pop followed by the smell of burning electronics. I had fried my pedal board’s power supply, rendering my pedals useless. I had to borrow a pedal board from Architects, who were also playing on the tour. (I think we need to do this same tour lineup again!). When we took the stage that night I was a ball of nerves. I unfortunately played sloppy for the large Australian crowd, but I don’t know if anyone actually noticed or cared. We debuted our song “Meddler” for the first time that night. (I played that song particularly poorly.) The tour was overall a great experience. I have very fond memories of hanging out with the guys in Architects and playing massive shows in every city.
Touring South America
In August of 2010, we were doing a tour of South America. It was our first time traveling there. Our buddies in Blessthefall were coming with us and it was going to be awesome. The first show was in Sao Paulo, Brazil and over 1,000 people showed up. We were treated like celebrities and it was a completely surreal start to the tour. The final show of the tour was scheduled for August 28th in Caracas, Venezuela. About a week before the show, we learned of political unrest in Venezuela. The president there was known for being a hot head and pulling stunts like closing down the airports. It was determined to be unsafe for us to travel to Caracas because of the possibility of getting stuck there should the president lock down flights out of the country.  Instead, we booked a last minute show in Quito, Ecuador. With a week to get the word out, we weren’t expecting much. The show was held in a small youth center. There couldn’t have been more than 150 people there but it was such a special show for us. The appreciation and enthusiasm the crowd showed us was unmatched. We felt honored to have been received with such open arms and on such short notice. What felt like a disaster waiting to happen turned out to be one of the biggest highlights of our South American tour.

The Day The Van Died
Thankfully I found a journal entry from Thursday, April 16th, 2009 so that I can write accurately with every detail about the day that our van died. We were pretty early into a tour with All That Remains and Born of Osiris when as you may have guessed -- our 16 passenger Chevrolet van (unnamed to my knowledge) took its last breath of air and sipped its last ounce of gasoline (which in those days contained 0% ethanol for you engine nerds). According to my journal, we woke up at a decent hour, grabbed continental breakfast from the hotel and headed out on the road for the next show. I was first up to drive on that day and while on the road about 60 miles away from our departure our sound engineer Jade asked me, “So how long do you think this van is going to last? Do you think it’ll make it through the rest of the tour?”
“Yeah, I think it’ll last for the rest of the tour - at least I hope so,” I replied. Just as I finished that thought our speed began to decrease rapidly while ascending a hill on the highway. I let off the gas and the engine shut off. As I was pulling over to the shoulder the temperature gauge shot up, the breaks were extremely hard to press because the brake booster went out and smoke poured out from under the hood when I was finally able to bring the vehicle to a stop. “Well, I think we need a new van,” I said.
I don’t remember how many miles that van had but it was surely over 200k so something like that was bound to happen at any time. Born of Osiris was able to pick us up so that we could make the next show which was in Syracuse, NY and after the gig our friend Ricky picked us up and drove us back to Lancaster so that we could van shop the next day and get back out on the road to meet up with the tour again.
The Storm That Left Us Stranded
In the winter of 2009, we did a short tour with Underoath and Emery. It was a very fun tour filled with hangs and packed shows. However, the drive home was something that I hope to never be a part of again. After the tour ended in New Orleans, JB and Brent flew home while the rest of us (Matt, Jake, TM Josh, merch guy Mychael and myself) opted to save some bones and drive the van/trailer home. We knew there was a huge rain storm coming but we had plenty of time to beat it home by getting on the road directly after that last show - or so we thought.
Sometime in the early hours of December 18th during our drive home, we blew a wheel bearing on the trailer and had to pull over to take a look at it. This was an ongoing problem for us back in the day. You see, this was a time before the Axe-Fx / Kemper. A dark time when we carried many guitar/bass cabinets. Our trailer was always filled to the brim. We were simply carrying too much weight and would blow out wheel bearings left and right no matter how we packed the trailer.
This blow out was one of the worst ones we ever had. Since it was still dark outside, whoever was driving the van couldn’t see the smoke so they ended up driving for a while after the bearing gave out which led to the bearing fusing to the spindle which meant that we couldn’t fix the problem ourselves. We had to wait for a small repair shop to open up so that we could have the bearing fixed and while waiting to have everything repaired the storm passed us. It was only rain at the time but we knew it would turn into a mild blizzard. We finally got on the road in the early afternoon but it was too late - the damage was done.
I don’t recall which highway we were on, but it indeed was shut down and we ended up spending the night in the van on the highway until we could get moving again early the next morning. Around 6am when traffic started moving again, we opted to drive to the next closest exit and get a hotel since the roads were still covered in snow. Our drive home was supposed to be about 18 hours without stops and it ended up taking us 3 days. It’s fun to reflect on it now and talk to those that I share that memory with, but it’s safe to say from that day on, I never drove the van home from the end of a tour again.

Constellations Artwork
It was December 2007. I was getting inspiration for album artwork from the most unassuming source, a black and white movie from the 1940s. It's A Wonderful Life is a movie about a supernatural intervention in the life of a frustrated businessman. In the movie, an angel is sent from heaven to show George Bailey what life would have been like had he never existed. At their high-school graduation party, George is reintroduced to Mary who has had a crush on him since they were kids. Under the moonlight, they're walking outside when George suddenly turns Mary towards the sky and asks, "You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down."
As I watched the scene unfold, I played out the idea of a rope tied to a star in the sky. I put pen to paper and ran with the concept, pulling inspiration from Matthew 6 where the idea of Heaven coming to earth is introduced. The stars represented steadfast anchors by which we find direction throughout our lives. The kites represent our own fleeting emotions that will alter direction just as the wind changes. I remember getting on the phone with Ryan Clark, the creative mind behind the company Invisible Creature, and explaining the artistic concepts that would eventually come to fruition in the pages of Constellations.
“Indonesia”
In 2007, I awoke to find that a relative had died in a plane crash. David Clapper had always been passionate about flying. It wasn't uncommon to see his single-engine Cessna flying over our family farm in Lancaster County, PA. He devoted his time assisting those in need in Southeast Asia by flying the sick and dying from the bush to the nearest hospital, which often times was a several hour flight. On one of his return flights to the bush, he encountered a storm that blew his plane into the side of a mountain. I remember going for a drive after finding out the terrible news. I was so upset that someone doing such a good thing had died in such a terrible way. Here was a man who gave his time and energy to helping others and, in the end, sacrificed his life doing so. I remember wondering what his last words might have been as the plane spun out of control, crashing into the side of the mountain where it still resides today. I learned an important lesson that day. That is, not every question in life has an answer, at least not one that will satisfy. "This is the time to turn down our heads and turn up our hearts."
I remember traveling to Indonesia on the Constellations Tour. We played an outdoor venue for a large group of excited fans who were seeing us perform for the first time. When it came time to play "Indonesia," a feeling came over me that I'll never forget, an overwhelming sense of humility. The band I helped start in my parent's basement in Lancaster County, PA was playing in Southeast Asia performing a song written about my relative who had passed away on that very continent just the year before. The fans in the crowd seemed to sing about him like he was their relative, not some stranger who's name they merely read in the liner notes of a CD. Near the end of the song Jake screams the words, "David, rest in peace." I'll never forget hearing the crowd sing those very words so loud they could be heard over the amplification of our own instruments. A story goes a long way, sometimes even to the edges of the other side of the planet.

Wildlife able David Tipling reveals his abstruse to photographing some of nature’s shyest breed
Most of us are accustomed with that cursory moment aback a sparrowhawk aberrant through the abrasion band and over the fence both arrives and is gone quicker than you can say its name. But appearance one up abutting and you see a arresting acuteness transmitted through chicken staring eyes. But a afraid astriction agency the bang of a bang or camera movement and the befalling is lost. Added than accepting a advantageous encounter, to accept acceptable again opportunities for photography requires actuality a little inventive. This is the adventure of how I created that befalling with a little bit of innovation.

Wildlife photography has acquired from its ancient ancestry about 150 years ago through ingenuity. Aback in the 1890s the beat Kearton brothers acquired celebrity cachet as attributes photographers through the absurd agency they got abutting to birds, best abundantly application a hollowed-out cow as a hide. This was as abundant for applied affidavit as it was a business artifice to accomplish accessible absorption in their pictures. Beneath acclaimed photographers were already application simple bolt hides to burrow themselves with no beneath success. For a aeon the simple bolt adumbrate afflicted little – baby innovations in architecture accustomed with new abstracts and pole constructions to accomplish adjustment quicker and simpler, yet the basal architecture has survived and is still acclimated today. To photograph some of our shyest birds of casualty some photographers accept gone to abundant lengths architecture board and sometimes bean hides to burrow themselves. But the affair of lens movement has consistently bedfast this blazon of photography.

In 2005 a Spanish attributes columnist by the name of José B Ruiz congenital a aloft basin at his home in Alicante to which he absorbed a hide. This appearance of basin became accepted as a absorption basin but the adumbrate was the absolute game-changer. Instead of accepting his lens stick out the front, José sat abaft a breadth of cogitating one-way glass. He was airy to the birds and the bottle helped bedew the complete of his camera’s shutter. Afraid breed could be photographed acting artlessly in their environment, absent of animal presence.

Looking Back on 2019: A Year Of Highs and Lows
And just like that, 2019 is a wrap. It seems like every time I sit down to write these reflections posts, I can’t believe just how fast the year went. As I’m writing this article, I have my furry friend (Spare Dog) at my feet, my furry Nick next to me (he needs to shave!), and I’m looking out to the sea and mountains beyond.
This past year was filled with adventurous travel to new and repeat countries, highs and lows on the business and personal front, love and laughter on the relationship side and lots of fun here in Grenada. So much has happened, that I had to consult my iPhone photostream to remember all of the amazing things we got up to!
Images of mountains, colonial towns, ancient sites, and tropical islands dominate the feed. It’s been a pretty great year. Every 12 months has a feeling, a vibe, or some sort of big event that stands out. For 2019, I’m dubbing it “A Year of Highs and Lows”. And you’ll see why after reading — the year was amazing, and then seemed to plummet at the end.
Here’s a recap of the year, and what we have planned moving forward into 2020.
Travelling around the Galapagos was a highlight of our year!
I’ve been doing these roundup posts for quite a few years! Here are the ones from previous years if you’re interested:
2012: A Very Memorable Year
2013: A Year of Firsts
2014: Started and Ended With Mexico
2015: A Year of Spontaneity
2016: A Year of Big Decisions
2017: A Roller Coaster Year
2018: A Year of Achievements
Celebrating our 12 year anniversary!
Achieving Goals Set For 2019
At the end of each yearly roundup article, we set some goals that we want to achieve in the coming new year. This is what we wanted to achieve in 2019:
Being more active (going hiking more and joining yoga again).
Exploring more of Grenada
Continue to create and provide useful information on our website
Help out (volunteer work, donations, environmental causes)
I’m happy to report that we accomplished those goals!
Being More Active
This year, we got back into “hashing” here in Grenada, and while we didn’t join the hikes every weekend, we did do quite a few. I’ve also joined yoga and attend classes two times a week, most weeks. And, we now do much more walking then we used to, plus some at-home workouts as well.
Nick and I both did a couple of detoxes this year, one with natural pills, and one simply with smoothies and fasting. We actually just finished up a two-week booze detox and smoothie diet which is what we previously did when we were feeling a little heavy.
We thought it was a good idea to slim down and dry out before the holiday season! Nick lost 10 pounds, and I lost 8. In case you missed last year’s post: “We Got Fat – Dealing With Blogger Bod“.
When we’re living somewhere, we find it hard to be active. When we’re travelling, it’s much easier as we’re always out walking around new cities, hiking to new sites, or just wandering aimlessly. Since we’re not getting any younger, we’re putting health and wellness at the forefront of our goals.
Hiking is our favourite way to stay active
Exploring More of Grenada
Even though we’ve spent 5 years in Grenada (on and off), it always amazes me that there are still new places to discover. This year we explored a couple of new hikes and walking trails, offtrack beaches and some great new restaurants that have popped up.
On top of just finding new places to walk and eat, we found ourselves attending numerous events — wine festival, Carnival, music festival, and chocolate festival. Plus, we explored the sea by sailboat on numerous occasions, did some deep-sea fishing, and Nick checked out the underwater world on scuba.
We also celebrated 3 birthdays with staycations here on the island. One on a cacao farm, in a treehouse cabin, surrounded by nature. Our four-legged friend also joined in on that bday weekend! My 35th birthday was celebrated with live music, beach bar drinks, and lazy pool days at one of the hotels here, plus a private sunset sail. Nick’s 35th was recently spent enjoying a dinner party, followed by a night at a boutique seafront hotel in a cute bungalow.
Yep, I’d say we did Grenada justice this year.
Sailing into 35!
Continuing to Provide Useful Content on Our Website
As with every year, we are always creating new articles, videos and posts on our social media channels to hopefully inspire and assist others when it comes to making money on the road, and travelling the world.
In 2019, we published 157 articles on Goats On The Road, filmed and edited 20 YouTube videos and posted on social media 237 times!
This year, we also kicked it up a notch and created a digital course to help bloggers progress from hobby bloggers to a profitable business. And by we, I mean Nick.
Nick planned, filmed, and created the SEO Made Simple online course — spending hours to ensure it was detailed, professional and most importantly, actionable. Each of the 300 students who have purchased the course are also in Nick’s VIP Facebook group where he shares his wisdom and advanced methods for SEO. It’s been very rewarding for both of us to see the students’ progression!
Because Nick created that course, we were invited to be a part of the Paradise Pack in 2019. For the past 3 years, we have promoted the pack (because it’s filled with awesome products), but this year we were invited to have our course in the bundle of online resources.
We were ecstatic!
Chatting with Travis and Jason from the Paradise Pack was a lot of fun
We did an hour-long live chat online with the creators of the pack (Travis and Jason), with over 3,000 people watching at a time! We then did an hour+ podcast with Jason, where we spoke about our lives as digital nomads and travellers. Chatting with online colleagues is always a lot of fun, and we love this style of interview.
Special!
If you’re interested in learning some of our SEO secrets, but aren’t sure if you want to purchase the SEO Made Simple course, we’re offering a free 1-hour session, here.
Helping Out
Finally, our last goal for 2019 was to help out more. In 2018, we were able to do quite a few things in Grenada, but this year we wanted to do more, both at home and away — there’s always more that can be done.
As with last year, we sponsored an eight-year-old girl from the orphanage so that she could attend a four-week summer camp here on the island. Her weeks were filled with arts and crafts, history and culture, sports and activities, plus a couple of outings to the beach to learn about marine life and the environment. I hope that this summer camp continues for these children as it’s a great initiative.
We also assisted an artist in his “Beautify Grenada” project where he sources out blank walls around the island and looks to brighten up the community by painting unique images on them. “Our” wall that was painted is one that we drive by every day. It’s is in front of a preschool and is now home to colourful turtles, balloons, trees, children, and of course, goats! I hope this talented artist continues his pursuit of beautifying the island.
Plastic is a problem worldwide. Our eco-blogging, travelling friends from The Dharma Trails put together a “Green Up Grenada” project to bring awareness to the plastic issues and to clean up the beaches (and underwater).
Nick heading out on a dive to cleanup the underwater world
We participated in the clean up of La Sagesse Beach (323 pounds of garbage was collected), and the scuba diving clean up at Grand Anse Beach where 150 pounds of garbage was pulled from the sea. This was a great campaign and hopefully it raised more awareness about the unnecessary use of plastic here on the island.
Utilizing Our Home as a “Base”
A month after ringing in the New Year in Grenada, it was time for us to pack away the household items we had accumulated over the past year, load up our backpacks and hit the road. Every February, the owners of the house we rent return to spend 5 or so weeks here. This means we have to vacate — which is OK as we go travelling again!
We had been pretty much stagnant for most of 2018, and not really utilizing our home as a base, which was the whole point of settling here — we planned to stay, and then travel, and repeat. Instead, we felt a pull (is it actually called a “pull” if we don’t go anywhere?!) to stay put.
This year, we were ready to properly make use of our base. Live, travel, repeat. It was time to get back out into the world. And, we actually ended up doing quite a bit of travelling this year — 5 months to be exact.
Eating bbq chicken in the sea with Spare Dog, after hiking – a great day!
Travelling for almost half of the year and staying still for the rest seems to be the perfect balance for us. It allows us to have exciting adventures, sample new foods, and learn about new cultures, but also gives us enough downtime to rest, work and catch up with friends.
I don’t want to jinx it, but after travelling for 10 years, and blogging for 7 of those years, could it be possible that we’ve finally found a work-life balance that suits our lifestyle?!
Having explored Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and Colombia in 2017, we knew we loved the continent of South America. So, when considering where to go in February, we took a look at the map and decided on Ecuador and Peru for our next adventure…and what an adventure it was.
We were offline for this entire trip and had a great time backpacking around these two countries. You can read about our thoughts and highlights of this trip in our roundup article here.
The hiking around Otavalo was amazing!

Press Trip Partnerships
Going on press trips/FAM trips isn’t our main blogging income model, but when we’re invited somewhere that resonates with our travel style and interests, we happily accept the offer.
This year, we were invited on 6 press trips and had an incredible time exploring new destinations — all of which were a great fit. Sure, we had been to these countries in the past, but the provinces, cities, and islands that we visited were new to us.
Nova Scotia
Even though we’re Canadian, we’ve seen very little of our home country. So when the Nova Scotia tourism board invited us to experience what the little province has to offer, we jumped at the opportunity to see the east!
Jagged coastline, hiking routes, fishing villages, fresh seafood and welcoming locals — this is Nova Scotia. We picked up our rental car and had an incredible time road tripping around the province for 3 weeks, while experiencing all the fun things to do in Halifax, and beyond.
With so many places to visit and adventures to have, we would definitely return and explore more of the culture, cuisine and nature.
Read more about our experience in Nova Scotia on the blog, here.
Beautiful nature in Nova Scotia on Cape Breton Island
Indonesia
This island nation is one of the countries we visited on our first backpacking trip in 2009. We then returned to live in Canggu, Bali for a couple of months, and Nick went on a scuba diving trip with the Indonesia Tourism Board.
This time around, we were invited by Lotus Hotels, to experience their dive resorts and share our findings with you.
We travelled to 4 different destinations over the course of 15 days — Gangga Island in North Sulawesi, Birie Island in Raja Ampat, Candidasa on Bali Island and the island of Gili Trawangan. Even though we were on a trip that was planned for us, visiting these destinations (some of which are quite offtrack) was an incredible experience.
Sunsets on Gangga Island were amazing
The majority of the trip was centred around the epic scuba diving and snorkelling that Indonesia is known for, which was perfect for Nick! The accommodations were lush, the natural beauty was out of this world (especially in Raja Ampat!), and we enjoyed visiting villages, dining on fabulous food and interacting with the welcoming residents of each island.
The beauty above and below the sea, the friendly people, the tasty cuisine and the overall vibe are the reasons we find ourselves returning to Indonesia. There’s just something magical about this country, and we’re always happy to come back.
Drone’s eye view of the FAM islands in Raja Ampat
In between Indonesia and Japan, we hopped over to the Philippines for our friend’s wedding. We enjoyed some downtime with friends, a lovely wedding ceremony, and some exploration of Siquijor Island by scooter!
Japan
Just a few days after being invited to Indonesia, we received an offer to travel to Japan and check out some of the more offtrack prefectures (which are similar to provinces/states). In 2017 we visited Tokyo, Takayama and Kyoto and enjoyed the culture shock, cuisine and people of Japan.
This time around, we were going to experience more of the natural beauty, plus an offtrack city and learn about the culture of soaking in a sento (public bath).
Four different tourism boards and associations invited us to visit their destinations, which were all places we hadn’t been to yet — Akita and Aomori in the Tohoku Region, Okayama City, Nakatsugawa City and the Tokyo Sento Association.
Hiking the Nakasendo Trail in Nakatsugawa, Japan
We lined it up so we could visit all destinations during just one trip to Japan. There were a couple of free days during our 16-day trip, including some time in Tokyo to hang out with our friend Jason from the UK who we met while backpacking around Central Asia in 2013!
This time around, we felt as though we learned much more about the intricate culture, and were able to dig a little deeper into the history, customs and cuisine. There’s much more of Japan to see and we can’t wait to return.
The Ups vs. The Downs
We arrived home on a high. We had just enjoyed an incredible couple of months travelling around Asia, we reconnected with some great friends on the road and our website was doing well in terms of partnerships, traffic to the site, and income.
We caught up with our friends (including Spare dog) when we got home, reflected on the trip and the year as a whole and were excited about the holiday season. More importantly, once we had finished our deliverables for the Indonesia and Japan campaigns, we had lots of plans for how we were going to improve our business — we were excited!
But, between the time we arrived back in Grenada from Asia (November 9th), to when this article was published (just over a month later) it feels like all of our amazing accomplishments, adventures and “ups” from the year have been snuffed out.
A beautiful sunset from our house
Goats On The Road was one of many websites that took a huge hit during the November Google algorithm update. What does that mean exactly? Well, Google changed the way it shows content to those who are searching.
So let’s say for example you were searching for “things to do in Thailand”, rather than having us show up as #1 or #2 because we’re a well-respected travel blog with long, informative content, we have now dropped down and you are being shown more “authoritative” sites (ie: big companies).
Why did this happen? We don’t know. Which is incredibly frustrating.
Our traffic has dropped and we’re scrambling trying to figure it out. Traffic affects our income and partnerships, and how many people will see our message, which is why it’s such a big deal. One thing is for sure, we will continue to create useful and informative articles for you and hopefully, Google will be happy with us once again!
This update pretty much affected sites across the board in the recipe and travel industries and while we still have a lot of traffic, it’s difficult to see it go down overnight and knowing there’s nothing we can do to fix it.
However, business and money are trivial in comparison to what happened 4 days ago.
From the time I was basically finished writing this article, to the time it was published, our friend Spare Dog passed away. This has been incredibly hard on us as even though we were his petsitters, we thought of him as our own, and spent so much time together.
Spare Dog will be loved and missed
Spare was the reason we came to Grenada in the first place back in 2014 and was the reason we kept on returning. He was the first (and only) dog I ever loved — no others will compare. This year has ended with sadness for us, but we’re trying to focus on the fantastic life he led, and all the adventures he enjoyed — he explored more of Grenada than anyone we know!
This little furry character made an impact on everyone he met and thought of himself as human, rather than animal. From waterfalls and private islands to offtrack trails and brewpubs, Spare went everywhere and everyone knew him.
Nick and I are grateful for the last 10 days we had together with Spare at our home, and that his parents returned from the UK in time to say goodbye to their sweet boy. We’ll miss Spare (Doodle) Dog dearly and Grenada won’t be the same without him.
haha, this photo is my favourite! Excited for an adventure, Spare?!
Moving Forward into 2020
I’ve been speaking with blogging colleagues and travel friends who all have their 2020 calendars filled with plans. Currently, for us, there are no plans — which I think is great! No work commitments planned, no flights booked, and nowhere we have to be.
We’re thinking of 2020 as a blank slate. It’s a fresh, pure year waiting for us to colour in the time slots as, and when, we want.
For me, 2020 means “vision” and “clarity”. And while everything looks a little bit blurry at the moment due to the stress of the past weeks, once we move into the new year I’m certain some definition will start to appear.
I have a feeling there are some epic changes on the horizon and we’re excited to see where we go, and what we end up doing!
Wishing you an amazing year ahead! (photo taken during Nick’s birthday surprise)
Since this is a travel and lifestyle blog, we’ve always been honest and upfront with you, with the hopes that you’ll appreciate the real people behind the words. Rather than being just a generic travel website, we think personality and personability are an important part of sharing and connecting with our readers.
As we head into 2020, Nick and I want to sincerely thank you for following our journey this past year, and we’re looking forward to sharing our upcoming adventures (whatever those may be!) with you in the new year.
We hope to inspire you to travel to some new destinations and maybe even find work doing what you love while on the road. We’d love to hear from you as well, so please comment down below, or send us a private email.
Wishing you health, joy, and love in the coming year.

"My entire heart."
Tumblr media
Detective Dimples
"and two thirds of mine."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"Yeah, the dog isn't in the picture..."
Detective Dimples
"Exactly..." rolls his eyes.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Grabs his hand, tugging him towards her. "Oh, did you mean meee?"
Detective Dimples
"Clearly." narrows his eyes at hers at such a question as his free arm took inventory of her midsection.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Drawing in close to him, her chin found his upper arm as she looked up to him with a smirk all her own. "Half me, half the dog?" she suggested, teasing.
Detective Dimples
"All you, baby." he insisted, not even letting her try to get away with this one as his eyes found hers.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"Happy Anniversary, C.J.," she stated seemingly out of no where, not allowing him to think she'd forgotten, even if she normally would have set them up with something more private than this, yet a night with the boys at Lavo seemed to be fitting enough as she really just couldn't bear the idea of leaving the boys out on Christmas Eve.
Detective Dimples
"Merry Christmas, Erin." he'd second as this was one anniversary that he definitely wanted all of them there for and so he would get as this was the point of it all. At the end of the day.  What they worked so hard to come home for.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"Merry Christmas," she returned, flashing that trademark smile in his direction as she curved into the man's chest, embracing him tightly. "I have a closet full of gifts, gift wrap, boxes, tape, and a bottle of wine at home waiting on us..." she reminded him as it was their own tradition set forth two years before. "Get the boys to bed and see how much we get done before I unwrap you?" she teased, flirting with him poorly, yet knowing he'd expect nothing more from the woman in this department as he was the one with all the game and she was just the one lucky enough to have his affections.
Detective Dimples
"You had me at tape..." kissing the tip of her nose that had once worn tape not so long ago. He'd be crazy to turn her down. Not to mention he was happy to have two hands on the job.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"Might have a different kind of something for that..." she suggested, her hand finding his ass to steal a quick grasp there before she was cutting her eyes back up to his.
Detective Dimples
Laughing softly as he felt her grip, hands finding the sides of her face as he leaned in and snagged his lips to hers. "Have I told you today that I love you?" sarcasm noted as he had probably told her about a dozen times by now.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
A hum stole her lips as she met his eyes with a slow nod of her head. "Maybe, but doesn't mean I don't like hearing it," she reminded him, lifting to her toes to steal a kiss at her own willing. "Have I told you today that I love you more?" she challenged intentionally.
Detective Dimples
"I have no problem making sure you hear it." he challenged as he pressed his lips briefly back to hers. A shake of his head. "Nice try, Looch."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Meeting his eyes, he'd find a sly smile as she'd tried to one up him on that one, yet she knew it was all his. "I said it first, so it must be true," she argued playfully.
Detective Dimples
"I felt it first." he warned her in return, nudging his nose to hers.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"Yeah? What else did you feel first?" she asked, teasing him shamelessly just barely where the boys couldn't hear her.
Detective Dimples Hearing her tease, his brows furrowed briefly. Stealing another kiss. "You suggesting something?"
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Leaning into his ear, she nipped at the lower curve, a smirk there to follow. "I'm asking if you ever went home after a shift and felt something else?"
Detective Dimples
"No..." though the flare of dimples would suggest he was fibbing.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
A smirk stole her lips as she shook her head no, finding it all too cute that the man was attempting to lie to her. "So you never, not once, laid in your bed or stood in your shower and..."
Detective Dimples
"No." another lie as he saw her smirk. "Never."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Hums her disapproval, shaking her head. "Real shame. I would've found that really hot," she offered, shrugging her shoulders slightly.
Detective Dimples
"Damn shame." the man would agree. "Good thing I don't do that. Not then, not now..."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
He'd earn a quick cut of her eyes as she wasn't believing that for a moment. "Oh really? When was the last time you did then...?"
Detective Dimples
"Well, they say when you are trying that it's better off to make sure you always got something something fresh in the tank..." he offered, making this a positive.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"So the last time you did was before we were trying then... but you never did before we were together, not with me on your mind anyway?" she asked, summarizing the story he was selling her.
Detective Dimples
Closing his eyes briefly as she was confusing him in his own game. "No, I'm saying that the last time we were together was /when/ we were trying so I always have something fresh for /you./"
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"Mhm... but I'm asking about before August 24, 2014. I'm asking if in those months that you and I were... partners and nothing more... if you went home and thought of me…”
Detective Dimples
"Maybe once...or twice..." he paused, turning to a whisper. "a day."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
A place that held no true expression instantly gave way to a growing smile as her eyes found his. "Yeah?" she asked, drawing in close to him once again. "And was it as good as the real thing?"
Detective Dimples
Snorting at the suggestion like she couldn't even be serious. "Waaaay better." he stated honestly. "Way better. Even at my best. Way better. Way. Better." meeting her eyes,  he assured she heard him.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Humming softly, it didn't honestly matter to her if it was better in reality or in his dream, but the fact that he'd thought of her at all was strangely comforting to her in this moment, though at the time, they both knew she would have been disgusted by it. "Good," she stated, a slow nod of her head, that smile still firmly in place against her features.
Detective Dimples
"So much better. In all aspects. Exceeded by expectations. My dreams." he promised her as he met her smile, hand finding the side of her face. "You're perfect. No pedestal."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Hearing the return of fears of days past, she met his eyes, no longer afraid of him holding her up too high or to any standard. Drawing a deep breath at the realization of just how far the two had come in their time together, she felt his hand there to the side of her face. Leaning into that touch, she offered a genuine smile as she met his eyes. "How'd I get so lucky?" she asked, potentially rhetorical, but a question she'd never quite have the answer to.
Detective Dimples
Knowing she once did not believe that she could maintain those standards, she was just as perfect if not more so now than ever before. He shook his head. "That's what I'm still trying to figure out for me. Get in line."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
At his return, it would take but a moment before her hand was finding the back of his neck, pulling herself up to her toes to steal his lips with her own. She'd not set out for this, but found herself falling potentially more in love with the man in that moment than she was the moment before, an endless process that never made any sense to her, yet something she'd learned long before not to fight for the forces of nature here were entirely too strong, knowing all the while this was the man she was meant to spend her life with, without a single doubt.
Detective Dimples
Humming low as he pressed back into her, wrapping his arms tightly around her as he pulled her into him. Hands at the woman's hips as he pulled her closer.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Drawing easily into his hold just as she always would, she pressed her lips firmly to his before she was sealing that kiss in exchange for his eyes. "Feeling lucky tonight, Mister Luciano?"
Detective Dimples
Pressing his lips back to hers, he heard her question and nodded simply. "Every night I got you to share a bed with, I'm lucky."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
His words prompted a smile to her lips, only furthering the idea that it was the right time to try. "Lucky enough that you'd be interested in watching for a line on a stick and then taking me to bed to celebrate afterwards?" She asked, drawing her lower lip through her bite as she suggested they see if their efforts had paid off yet.
Detective Dimples
Hearing her, he smirked lightly a shake of his head. "Let's just skip to the celebrate part." he offered, not wanting any potential disappointment to ruin it all since that's not what this was all about anyway. "I know you're real excited to lay with your lower half at a 150 degree angle afterwards, anyway."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"You know me all too well," she offered sarcastically, unable to wait until the time they had a positive line that would mean the end of awkward positions after sex. "If we celebrate tonight, then we take the test first thing in the morning?" she offered, attempting to compromise with the man.
Detective Dimples
"I'm never going to be able to have sex again without that body pillow..." he playfully threatened, flashing her a telling smile before he heard her question. "I don't think we should live by the test. I think you'll know your body when it happens but if that is what you want to do, we can do that. I just don't want everything to revolve around those tests. You know?"
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Hearing him speak, she'd nod her head, though she wasn't so sure that she'd just know. She drew an even breath as she met his eyes, willing to fall back and let him take the lead on the matter, knowing all the while he was just looking out for the both of them. "Then we don't do tests," she agreed, offering him a trademark half-smile as her hands eased down from the sides of his face to find his upper arms as his own still remained at the small of her back.
Detective Dimples
"Unless you miss a period. Then we'll take one." he offered in return as he felt her to his arms. "Until then, body pillows and awkward yoga."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"Deal," she offered, nodding her head, knowing if nothing else he was saving them a ton of money in tests alone. "The anticipation is killing me," she confessed, glancing down over her own body before meeting his eyes once more. "That there could be a little life in there, right now..." she whispered, showing she'd given much thought on the matter. "Do you?” she asked, wondering if he found himself thinking the very same thing.
Detective Dimples
"I know when it's time, it's time. When it's time for us to know, it'll be time." he added simply, giving her a gentle squeeze. "Everything is easy when you have that." he offered, a nudge of his nose to hers.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Hearing his peace on the matter, she could only offer the nod of her head. Her anticipation was too high once they had decided to try, wanting nothing more than to add one of their own to the family they already had. Feeling the tension in his embrace, she met his eyes, a sigh of relief felt there in his calm as she attempted to take on such, though he'd know it to be nearly impossible for her to do so.
Detective Dimples
Watching that mere look in her eyes, he'd say nothing as he felt like he knew at that point. Attempting a bit of comedic relief. "Hey, it's not so bad for me at least. Means I get my wife whenever I can have her."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"You got to have your wife whenever you wanted her anyway," she reminded him as some things never had changed, nor would they ever, as the two had carved out time for one another from the very beginning of their relationship. "Yet you keep talking..." she suggested as though he could have had her twice in this time frame as a seductive smirk stole her features.
Detective Dimples
"Me? Talk? Never..." full of sarcasm as he never shut up, he'd manage a smirk of his own before stealing a kiss. Resolving himself to shut up.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
Feeling the theft of that kiss, she smiled against his lips before he fell silent. She had never minded his talking and had only meant to flirt with him and the idea of premature 'celebrating' as he had previously suggested. "Would you care to take your wife to bed?" she asked directly, her eyes lifting as she toyed with the idea of stealing another kiss, yet withheld for his answer.
Detective Dimples
"I think I'd like that." he stated, a lie. He'd very much like that as he met her eyes. Flashing a quick smile as if he'd ever say 'no' to such an offer.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
"You check on the boys and I'll see about that tape alternative..." she suggested, drawing back from his hold to allow her hand to land heavy against his ass as she made her way past him.
Detective Dimples
Feeling her to his ass, he'd allow it. Only knowing he'd be hitting hers next as he took up that initiative. Drawing from her to check as they both went their own ways.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
The weight of his hand was forever embedded against her ass and always paired with a quiet yelp he would surely expect. Sending her off as they both made their own preparations, her own revolving around a pair of handcuffs she'd bought him long ago and a tiny black number that he'd surely say she'd hadn't needed to wear for him in the first place. When he'd return, he'd find his wife in the center of their bed, the handcuffs dangling from one hand as her eyes were there at that door, giving him the option of being taken or the one doing the taking, yet promising that someone would be restrained tonight.
Detective Dimples
Returning a few minutes later. His eyes to the ground as he remembered to lock that door. Knowing a moment later he'd be distracted. Not disappointed, he'd glance up to look towards her on the bed. A slow breath leaving him as he was never disappointed. "Well, well." he'd begin as he approached, pressing his knees into the edge of the bed as he closed into her. "If I didn't know better, I'd think someone was waiting for me."
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
The instant that their eyes met, there was a smirk to her lips at his clear approval of that which she'd call his Christmas gift, even if he could truly have her at any time. She offered a slight nod as he made his way there onto the bed, spinning the cuffs around a single finger. "I most definitely was," she confirmed, making no secret of the fact before her free hand was reaching out to grip the fabric of his shirt at his chest, clenching the fabric tightly to pull him the rest of the way so that her lips might meet his own.
Detective Dimples
"I like when you wait for me." the man confessed, as this was what he got as he eyed her with those cuffs. Feeling her at his shirt as he leaned in and pressed his lips firmly to hers. Reaching up to help shed that shirt from his structure.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
As he attempted to take the shirt, she had a firm grip on it there at his chest, using it for force to keep her lips fused tightly to his own. Relinquishing the cuffs on the bed there beside her, her free hand found the waist of his pants, giving up his shirt if only to keep him close by the hold on his jeans. Drawing back from the kiss breathlessly, she met his eyes while he drew at his shirt, heavy breaths threatening the confines of that which she wore as she spilled over the top with each breath. Dragging her lower lip through her teeth, her eyes never left him as she maintained that grip.
Detective Dimples
Allowing her to stay at his belt loops as his shirt was removed. Feeling her draw back from his lips as he met her eyes. Hardly waiting a moment from his shirt being removed before his hands were to the sides of her neck. Pressing his lips firmly back to hers as he was growing equally as breathless for her as it was all too easy.
ℒ𝑜𝑜𝒸𝒽
As soon as his shirt was gone, she felt both of his hands there to her neck, pulling her into a kiss he wouldn't have to work for. Her lips fused tightly to his once again as her hands found his bare sides, gripping against the man as though he might try to move from her.
