would love to see your headcanons on jon and elias's shitty parent/child dynamic because thats some galaxy brain shit right there...

aaaaAAAAA thank you i’m glad you think so hsdflksajfd!! ;w; honestly though i’m kinda having. trouble answering this? mainly because a lot of my headcanons are so specific to my myriad of aus goddammit 

BUT. i dunno it just......kind of feels like an extension of the mentor/mentee dynamic they already sorta have in canon, i guess? but with a lot of added angst and family drama, of course, and i honestly have a penchant for exploring messed up family dynamics. what can i say dysfunctional families are all i know pfft 

i will say i am absolutely enamored with the idea of elias genuinely caring for jon in this situation but he’s still, like, elias, y’know? so even though he does care for his son he still uses him and hurts him for his own gain, cuz that’s the kind of person he is. and of course jon would end up with a lot of complicated feeling from this—i know from personal experience that sometimes with an abusive parent there’s a lot of swinging from hating them and thinking they’re the worst person alive, and thinking that you’re overreacting and they’re not that bad, especially when you’re young and still stuck with them (though, of course, there’s no doubt in my mind that elias would tie his son to the institute as soon as he possibly can, lmao, so....). he loves his father, he really does, but he can’t quite get over the ways he’s hurt him so horribly. nor should he get over it, frankly! god knows elias isn’t sorry! 

obviously this is taking this in a more emotional/psychological abuse kind of direction, i could talk about like. other kinds of abuse (god knows elias has a temper) but i didn’t wanna spring that on you dsklfjaskldfKLFD. i could talk about it though if the people wanna hear it i guess. idk sorry this is kinda rambly sdhfljasjdfl i think this idea is just,, weirdly unexplored in this fandom? i’ve seen a couple works playing into it but not nearly enough to my liking lol. and i’m realizing just now that i answered this ask as if they actually were parent and child but y’know i’ll take more of a father figure situation too, god knows jon deserves a parent figure (one that’s not elias lbr but i’m thinking about angst rn sorry jon 😅). but yeah if you wanna get more into specifics feel free to send another ask in i think about these two a lot hklJFlkJFDLK
