Here's what gets me. You've got the wizard tower arc and you know there's a lot of really interesting tension between the commander and the astral ward and peitha and it's got really good uncertainty about who you can trust and grappling with the weight of your past actions upon this world and the isolation and the fact that if you had had all this knowledge before maybe it wouldn't have been so isolating maybe you could have had help maybe it wouldn't have all fallen to you maybe you could have belonged, but now here you are and these are the people that understand what the weight of the world feels like and they think you're a monster you need to work together so they're playing nice for now but the second you do something wrong they could decide to end you and they have considered that an option for basically your entire life. All of your friends have lives and aren't picking up the phone you do not have a life you spent it all trying to keep everything from falling apart you don't have anyone to talk to now that it's all over but you do have someone to talk to, you do have someone who is listening and taking an interest and paying attention to how you feel and at best that support is out of curiosity but at worsr the very likely option is she's only doing this to toy with you before she eats you.
But you finally get to the murder death cannibal dream realm full of intrigue and wonder and high stakes political drama and complicated messy bloody family fueds and then everything is played literally completely straight. You are told what the story is and where everyone stands. And that is how it is. The end. Weird couple months for the commander. Everyone says they needed to be there. It's unclear to the extent that that is true.
