Songs the Ninjago Fandom is Sleeping on.

Okay so while I do art there's only so much my chronic pain ridden hands can produce and so animatics/animations aren't really in my wheelhouse BUT I have a bunch of ideas and songs that the Ninjago fandom should use + some ideas that yall can totally use (@ me or send them to me though if you do cause I want to see them)

The Songs in question (it's be song-artist btw):

Always Gold-Radical Face: Is literally a perfect song for Wu and Garmadon, like it's literally about two opposite brothers treading wildly different paths like what more could you want

Brutus- The Buttress: Yall please I am begging that someone does something with this song relating to Morro's hatred/jealousy towards Lloyd because this song is absolutely perfect for it! Lines such as "-and if you want I'll call you king but why do I lie awake each night thinking "instead of you it should be me"" and "Please know my actions are not motivated only by envy, I to have a destiny" there are so many more but I'll let yall do the rest of the work (Also you could kinda do it with Wu and Garmadon but ehhhh)

Human Enough- ONR: This could work for multiple of the characters if you ask me but if you ship anyone with Zane or Pixal the song could totally work those two them specifically cause it talks about the singers partner/love interest being "made perfect" and idk we need more Pixal content soooo. Honestly any of the characters that get de-human-ed (for longer than one episode) would do great with this song, like Cole in his ghost arc, Nya after Seabound or Garmadon at like any point in the story. Line examples: "Cause you are made of perfect stars and I was built from broken parts" and "I'm not human enough to love yo right now/ I'm not human enough to cry or cry for" are my personal favorites.

Laplace's Angel (Hurt People? Hurt People!)-Will Wood: Lloyd, Sora or Wu (Specifically the young version of him from the Spinjitzu Brothers books) song about the weight of the world being on your shoulders and not knowing what to do and like the consequences of actions and fun stuff like that

Easier- Crane Wives: Misako, like seriously so many Crane Wives songs work well for this woman because A) her whole attempt to change destiny or B) Her failure as a mother and you know the whole kinda cheating on her husband thing, but this one specifically cause it's a song about leaving someone behind and feeling bad while also not being able to stay. Lyrics such as "If you woke and I was gone from the house that we made our home would it bend yo, break you, overtake your heart?" and "I won't move but I can't stay here. So what the hell am I supposed to do?" and "If I were someone else, would this be easier?"

Stranglers Fig- This could definitely be a Cole (specifically relating to his father and dance backstory) or Kai song, many of the lyrics involve someone being pushed to do more and more and finally snapping because they've done everything they can and there's nothing left but their desire to be better. Lyrics "You bult your kingdom around me, now I'm trapped within your walls and all I want is to be free" and "Climb me to the canopy, higher, higher 'till there's nothing left of me." and "You're the culprit so don't blame me."

Garmadon has a piece of his soul missing, and hasn't been able to figure out how to deal with it for hundreds of years... but he also really really loves Lloyd and Lloyd gives him fulfillment so...

Harumi. But if I need to say more: she revived his curse (dug up his flaws) to bring back the Garmadon the destroyer and conqueror to take over the world again (finish what we started)

A song, not from the games, to represent each troupe for no reason other than I like music:

Spring: Chosen Family by Rina Sawaya

I know Mankai is a family but like Spring is the family so... Anywho in my head I see an animatic for them and that song, it's incomplete because I need to flesh out Sakuya and Tsuzuru's sections like I have ideas but I feel need to actually read Act 12 and not just about Act 12 to plan out Sakuya's section and I don't fully feel like I can plan Tsuzuru's without having Skuya's because I decided it follows it. Then also the closing. That's not fleshed out either. & by "fleshed out" I mean written down. I have mental visuals but not notes on those parts, I have notes on everything else tho lol (If you want to hear about it, I'm probs never gonna actually make it so feel free to ask.)

Summer: Oath by Cher Lloyd ft. Becky G

I'm absolutely certain that this is their vibe, it's high energy, & it's got the lines: "I know I drive you crazy, sometimes, I know I call you lazy, and that's most times But you complete me, and that's no lie" & I feel like that's pretty much a summary of them, you know? Like I'm not saying just those lines I feel the whole song is them but if I could only take one part to sell my point it's that one. Also, I want to say that to me, the song feels, in part, like the group singing to Tenma but I digress.

Autumn: Endlessly by Mystery Skulls

This is a song about protecting/fighting for whom you care about and that's what I associate Autumn troupe with. Like it's a short song/there aren't many lyrics but the chorus is: "I won't let them take you away from me, I'll be your protection and I'll fight for you endlessly" So to me, it's pretty fitting. But an honorable mention is Can We Be Friends? by Conan Gray because of the lines: "and if anybody fs with you, they f with me, so if anybody fs with you, I'll knock their teeth out" because that's also very them.

Winter: Garden by Meet Me @ The Altar

I think I'm leaning towards this one solely because of the garden/flower motif & Tsumugi runs the Mankai garden & Winter Troupe has Sunny Blanc, both the play and the event. & like I know all the members have flowers associated with them and Summer has The Floral Prince but I moreso associate Winter Troupe with flowers, kinda like the family Mankai but especially Spring Troupe thing. But all in all, I was thinking it fits because it's about supporting and being there during hard times idk. Another song I considered was Gorgeous by Taylor Swift for the fuyupoly I'll Be There For You by The Remembrandts which I kinda considered first as it has sorta the same meaning, like their both like "life sucks but I'm here to support you through it, it's okay your not alone" but Garden has a flower metaphor and is by Meet Me @ The Altar.

Anyway, I hope I don't sound dumb lol. I picked these songs out pretty much after only knowing a3! for like a month or two (started the anime in Feb, finished in March, started reading events mid or late March, drafted this post on April 3rd), I've cleaned up the post and added and changed things but essentially these songs I chose have been my choices for them since April. I have jumped around quite a bit so there's still stuff I'm missing and whatnot so if my reads of the groups are off I guess that's why. I don't think I'm too far off though. Idk tho, I'm definitely not an a3! scholar.

Grad School Q2 - Week 2

Accidentally wrote another long one so...

I have been drawing so many skeletons and hating every minute of it. Bones aren't so bad (compared to muscles) but I really don't love being super conscious of what goes on inside my body. For example the bones of the forearm:

Now I can't stop thinking about whether my arms are doing the twisty thing or not again. It's a weird thing to be squeamish about but it's also really annoying because then all of a sudden you start noticing how almost every non-medical-context skeleton you see HAS THEIR HANDS ON BACKWARDS! Almost all of them have the skeleton with thumbs inward (palm down) but in a supinated position!

"It's on the left." "Your left or my left?" "Bruh, I don't even know how to begin answering that question." -Conversation between these two skeletons.

I assume this happens as frequently as it does because just like me everyone else is FLABBERGAUSTED that our forearms seem prefer to be all twisted up! Nasty little bones!

Anyways, I've been forced to start thinking about what I want to do for my thesis. I didn't come to grad school to do a thesis, I came here to learn, so I really have no idea what I'm doing for this. A thesis is made up of:

Visual Component

Written Component

They are supposed to "support each other", allegedly the written component is the theory, and the visual component is it put into practice. I think, from what little I've gathered thus far, most people have something they want to do for their thesis project (their baby!) and they then write something around it. At least a professor of mine has recommended that we start on the visual component NOW, and then when we actually get to the thesis class, we just do all our research/writing then.

It kind of kills me though that the guidelines are so clearly written for creating comics, and us idiots who want to storyboard have to, QUOTE, "propose an acceptable equivalent to the standard published document to the committee chair." So, these guidelines aren't so helpful.

But, nonetheless, for my visual component I'm definitely (most likely) going to board out my pilot episode. Might go ahead and make that into a proper animatic because I, personally, don't want to have to walk people through boards. I'm pressing play on that shit so at least defending my thesis will include about 22 minutes of less talking. (Although the guidelines maybe imply that you have to do both?)

I dunno, maybe I could do an analysis of animated TV pilots. I guess I have time to think on it if the advice was to start on the visual component. That's a problem too though because I'll have to lock down that script soonish but I wanted to take it to a class to work on. But, the class I want to bring it to has pre-reqs! UGH!
