ever few months something happens that makes me want to remind southern ppl that we’re not like a joke or bad or stupid or whatever else ppl like to paint southern folks as being
#whimsy whispers#especially marginalized southern people like people are so quick to forget that the south isn’t made up only of racists and bigots#like the south sucks for a lot of reasons but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a diverse array of people living here#and because we live here we know more than all else what it’s like and how bad it can be sometimes which is why it sucks even more when#people act like the south and every southerner as a whole is bad and bigoted and stupid ya know?#hi I’m sure I’m annoying with this but it just makes me sad because I’m so use to seeing people make fun of us or like talk genuinely badly#about us#and not just online or on tv but irl as well I’ve had people treat me like shit because of it#and idk I do want to live outside of the south one day but i also don’t want to because of how ppl act like southern ppl are#I know ppl who’ve moved from the south elsewhere and like they do get treated like dumbasses or shit because they’re southern#idk on one hand I feel like maybe I’ve being overdramatic but on the other it is an annoying and shitty thing to have to deal with
