ANON HI HI <33 i have soo many thoughts and also no thoughts at the same time, just the mv and song playing on loop in my mind 😵💫

my thoughts are, it's soooo good, both the song and mv, it's sexy, it's romantic, it leaves room for rolo to expand on the story, it's everything <3 i absolutely adore the contrast in sound between the piano intro, the first two verses + chorus, and the third verse. the transition between the sounds was done sooo well, none of it felt jarring, but it still felt fresh/unpredictable (i might actually be okay with it being a lil more jarring bc i feel like ooo could pull off a sudden sound switch rly well, but what they have here sounds rly good, and they always have the future to experiment w diff types of switch ups)

and yes!! junhyung vocals!! i especially love his vocals in the post-chorus, esp the "baby will be mine" lines, he just sounds sooo smooth and sexy <3 and of course, the high note <33

the lyrics are soooo 😵💫 some notable fave lines of mine are

and the mv!! there was so Much happening there i feel like i dont have coherent thoughts, but some fave moments: rie whispering in junji's ear (sungho said on weverse that he said: "see you next time/let's meet again" which like,,,,he's so sexy im 😵💫), the paper cranes (!!), the tenderness of rie laying in junji's lap, the water hose scene, the popsicles, the back hug, and like ofc the ending (i realize i just listed like every scene in the mv p much)

story-wise, the vibes of mv junrie feel so distinct and different from mv kyujung, which is good bc i was a Tiny tiny bit worried that if all 3 units were gonna be doing romance storylines that they'd start to feel samey, but that doesnt seem to be the case at all <3 the whole thing w kyujung is that they were both unsure and building up the courage to be together and them finally feeling that joy of being free

with junrie, the hesitation is largely not there, both junji and rie have this confidence in their interactions, in their flirting that kyujung didn't, like the focus of junrie's story doesnt seem to be the struggle to feel safe and confident in one's sexuality, their characters are, at least more than kyujung, past that stage (this is an obvious oversimplification of things but u get me)

and sungho and junhyung did such a good job of portraying that confidence!! these two shots and their expressions in particular rly conveyed it well imo

but of course, there's also that moment in the cafe at the end right before the maybe-kiss, where there's tension and rie seems unsure of Something, it makes me think that perhaps rolo is going to be the fallout, the angst

overall, the story is giving me passionate summer fling, whirlwind romance that was never meant to last, like the way everything progressed much faster than kyujung's storyline paired with the tension in that last scene reads that way to me

but i may be wrong so we'll see!! speaking of, it seems i was indeed wrong abt the dark vs light/satanic tempter storyline, it seems like for these solos, they're going for smth more like,,,,down to earth (? that's not exactly the right phrase but i cant think of smth better rn) and less conceptually-dense lore heavy, which i personally find minorly disappointing bc i do love their conceptually dense lore, But these solos and their mvs have been sooo well done so far i rly have little to actually be disappointed abt (also, this is ooo we're talking abt, it's always possible this still does tie into their other lore in one way or another in the end)

anyways, those are my first impression thoughts for now! but lord knows i'll have so much more to say tmr and after too after i process this more askdf

does bts use autotune in recorded versions, its just that i came across some vocal coach saying that they do you use autotune? in the mtv bts unplugged fix you performance? i am not talking about studio versions, bc i know they do that to also put some effects too , but i mean the live singing perfromances, like maybe be some pre recorded performances in 2021 /20 and also do they use that in live performances during concerts and award stages? i thought they did not hence teh mistakes sometimes?

Okay anon hang tight because this is gonna take a minute.

Yes, BTS *does* use Autotune in their performance stages - BUT CHILL BECAUSE IT'S NOT THE OWN YOU THINK IT IS.

Literally EVERY ARTIST WORKING USES SOME FORM OF AUTOTUNE 99% OF THE TIME. BTS uses less and needs much less than most artists. Grab some snacks and I will explain.

There are two types of Autotune. Live correction, which is in the pic above, and after-the-fact graphic correction, which looks like this in the interface:

Every artist in the known universe uses the graphic correction for studio work. Because many artists, BTS included, need additional backing tracks since they provide their own backing vocals. Also it's a necessary tool to provide depth and the proper overall sound - it's not about pitch correction in the moment, per se.

Now, the "Fix You" and other pre-recorded performances DO ALSO USE AUTOTUNE. Not just BTS, y'all. Everyone does this. It's to help maintain a consistent sound quality over all performances and also because Antares has a very specific tonal quality that is hugely popular in recorded music. To get the human voice to sound that way you almost have to have a little bit of Autotune on the mic. They don't need a lot or use a lot most of the time, and in fact, don't use live correction much at all. But figure this: you're out there on a huge international stage in front of millions of people and you're also dancing. What if - what IF - you miss a note? Maybe not by a lot. If that can be fixed prior to it being shown, why wouldn't you fix it? You'd totally fix it, right? So they do. And so does everyone else in the industry.

Live, real-time correction doesn't work like that and it's not used much in BTS performances. Because it's risky. If you mess up the mic or get it wrong or overdo it you end up with horrible, obvious robotic sound and nobody likes that. So BTS doesn't do it. If they're gonna be a little bit off, they're just off a lil bit and we love them anyway.

Now, their lives do have some graphic correction built in on the front end. They often - even usually - have backing vocal tracks laid down and running behind their vocals. BECAUSE THEY CAN'T SING THREE THINGS AT THE SAME TIME and they are actively using their own vocals on multiple tracks at once. Those extra tracks gotta come from somewhere to keep the concerts sounding about the same as the recordings, so the extra tracks are provided for lives.

There is also a little bit of preset Autotune in the mics they use - I'm not totally familiar with the software and it may be their own proprietary blend - to help out in super dance heavy or very high songs, like Dynamite and Black Swan. Both those songs use a fair amount of Autotune pre-laid on the front end and you can actually hear it in both the recordings and the lives. That is a stylistic choice, not a pitch correction choice. It is also there for breath support. You try lifting a Jimin and rolling around on stage and also singing with your full voice and see how far you get.

So the reason we hear mistakes sometimes is because they make ACTUAL MISTAKES and don't use much real-time pitch or vocal correction in concerts or live performances. In fact, they use enough LESS graphics (after-the-fact) correction that we sometimes hear a beat slip through in pre-records. So let anyone who wants to bitch about Autotune and BTS take a flying leap off the industry bridge because they have proved over and over that they don't NEED it. Ed Sheeran is a damn nightmare live and I love him. Billie Eilish uses Autotune routinely in live performance for real time correction. Every artist you might be listening to is using some form of Autotune (okay, Bieber uses Melodyne but he's got Jungkook level pitch and still uses it on the front end, just like BTS).

It doesn't make BTS less authentic or less talented. It just means that you are getting what you paid for every single time you hear them - and our guys can do it while dancing, jumping, spinning and rapping without it being overwhelming or robotic, and that is an achievement. I dare any other group working right now to do it - the vast majority will fail. Even Coldplay uses Autotune and except for Chris Martin they're not generally all over the stage. I do! One of them is where you meet Floofty for the first time. You, the Journalist who has zero clue what even is Snaktooth Island, meets an even more confusing and rather rude grumpus. But honestly they're kind of charming trying to convince you to give them a Strabby. And then Floofty just runs away in their silly manner, paws behind their back. I've tried catching up to them multiple times, hilarious how they just go through the player and slam the door in front of you

Another ones are any scenes with Snorpy and Chandlo really, mostly Snorpy tho. I heavily relate to his personality, so watching him stomping his feet in excitement or from being nervous, telling the player his plans is extremely entertaining. Oh and Chandlo is straight up goals. As Roka once said: "He's the peak of masculinity and we both gotta get to his level"

Oh and meme scenes as well, can't forget 'bout "THAT'S WHY YOUR WIFE LEFT YOU!". Still cracks me up

There are barely any characters that I dislike. Every character is unique in their own way and that's enough for me to love them. Not to say that my fav characters can change after time(fun fact I used to absolutely despise Floofty... can you believe that?). I do think we could've gotten more lore on Lizbert and Eggabell, it's hard for me to relate to them. Except for Eggabell maybe

OMG OMG OMG THIS ONE'S GONNA BE SO FUN!! I'll start with my favorites

Floofty: Autistic lesbian (their special interest are robots, but they don't talk about it very often). They listen to heavy music on occasion, which they enjoy. Horror movies fan, tho complains about some parts not being realistic (Reanimator is on their favorites list for sure)

Snorpy: Lemon Demon enjoyer, autistic, oversized sweaters and color green are everything to him (you can guess why😏), gets pretty muscular after Snaktooth, but you can't really see it, so he surprises people with his strength

Filbo: Adhd, agender and doesn't mind he/him prns and masculine terms as long as you're being respectful ;), also gay gay gay in love with the Journalist gay gay gay

The Journalist: Agender (they/them or no pronouns, name instead of pronouns), queer and constantly stressed. Stays good friends with most of grumps from the expedition

Triffany: Pansexual, autistic, absolutely loves dinosaurs! Another hc of mine, more as a joke is that she likes the band Sabaton. Y'know, 'cus their songs are about historical events

Chandlo: Bi and adhd swag haver

I both hate and love how little attention this game has gained. It has a lot of potential, the fandom is pretty small and extremely comfortable. I've met so many nice people because of Bugsnax :) I think it's for the best, if it stays this way

i assume you mean american late night shows, i think the only girl groups who've performed there are blackpink and twice, so maybe check their videos out. i recommend these two groups in any case!

i think it's hard to recommend songs for people to get into kpop because it's such a huge industry with so many sub-genres. if you like songs that are focused on amazing (and i mean AMAZING) vocals, i'd recommend any group or solo artist that's under sm entertainment (my favs are exo and red velvet); if you're more into rap i'd recommend artists like bigbang, stray kids, zico and bts' pre-2018 music (they were more rap-heavy back then, now they basically only make music that caters to an american audience so if you're into that go for it lol). there are a lot of great playlists on spotify so maybe look into them! in any case i urge you to check out the b-sides of any artist/group and not only the title track bc from my experience they're always better than the title track itself!

i also have a playlist with my personal greatest kpop songs of all time that i made public rn so check that out if you like :) not to sound full of myself but i have good taste in kpop songs so you can trust me hehe

i feel like their style (at least with the title tracks) has switched a lot... i know a lot of people say they miss previous sounds, but which ones do you like the most? and is there a direction you could see them going in that you want them to try, or is everyone resigned to the fact that they'll always enjoy bsides more than the titles? also i know they supposedly have really good bsides...any recommendations? i've only heard the titles and i can only remember what about half of them sounded like...i'm sorry... my brain frees up storage by deleting things that i didn't enjoy that much all the time
