Reddit is absolutely insane sometimes. "my boyfriend gets sad when I don't want to watch him play video games and doesn't feel like playing anymore."
"Your boyfriend is a childish control freak" < not even paraphrased. That's literally how the comment started word for word.
#coyo speaks#most of the top comments were more reasonable thankfully#I like one that was encouraging op to have an open conversation with her bf about it#and drew a line between simply making comments in the moment (I'm tired/I don't feel like it/etc.)#and actually sitting him down to discuss how it makes her feel#and yeah that is important bc like yeah she told him she's feeling socially drained only to get frustrated when he's still trying to show#her stuff#but like... he might not really interpret that the same way she does#and I guess that's something we have to keep in mind when managing conflict with others#that when it comes to communication... sometimes you think you've communicated something but a lot was left out of that communication#'I told him I was tired so obviously-' but the feelings and thoughts you associate with certain things aren't really universal#so sometimes you have to explain#hey when I say I'm feeling socially drained this is how I feel. When you respond in that way this is how it makes me feel#obvsly I don't think he's trying to control her#he stops playing bc he's disappointed and really doesn't feel like it anymore#but he's probably not thinking 'oh this will make my gf feel bad so she'll definitely do what I want next time!!!!'#I think he just needs to manage his expectations and not start playing with the express hope that she'll watch and comment#I hope they work it out
