(Didn't go line by line on the first lines of the 10th anniversary preview because they're pretty straightforward, actually.)

"To man's aid came the whispers of a great bird", hmm. The Phoenix summon does have the call combo "Promethean Blaze", which would track with the whole "defying divinity to help humanity" angle here. On the other hand, it doesn't have to be a literal bird: Shalem's uncap art almost gives her wings.

"A foreboding light now flickers to life, showing signs of flaring into an untamed blaze" is absolutely the "egg" containing the lives of the Fallen Angels currently in Berceau's possession. We know from Olivia's Fate Episode (...preview, in my case) that the 6 Dragons are worried about it, as it has "the power to dethrone god".

And then things get complicated. XD;

"O, beings who resist thy fate" could be literally anyone, but my guess is either Vyrn and Lyria or Djeeta, or all three. (It could also be, in no particular order: the Eternals, Lucilius, Belial, or the main crew in general.)

"O, tome of wisdom that binds the enigmas" could be either Speaker (Lucio aka Sahar and Shalem), Lyria (because she does bind Primal Beasts' powers to herself), or even Cagliostro. It could also be somebody else entirely!

"Gather thy wishes and wills in one place" might refer to a literal location (Canaan?), a figurative one (the Singularity?), or both (the Boundary?). "An immortal, invincible force make" could be either the Singularity or even something/someone else entirely.

"An almighty spirit dwells within thee" is very likely related to Vyrn and Bahamut, but on a less literal level it could also be the collective spirit of Skydwellers in general. In order to survive in the Skies, everyone needs to be willing to help each other, after all.

As usual, this could all be totally wrong, but once again I love the way this preview is written. So excited for Heart of the Sun!

ACTUALLY, there is one more very important thing about Versus I need to tell you about!

So the main story is that Belial and Bubs are fucking causality, so things get weird and you and your friends are flying around locations known from the base game to do damage control and figure out what is going on. Basically, you fight some monsters or Erste Empire soldiers (they think their Empire still exists) and then every now and again you fight one of your friends. You beat some sense into them, they remember that they’re your friends and join you. Something about the Singularity being able to warp causality so you un-warp the fuckery those two guys caused. Then the next fight is usually a tutorial section, where Lyria and Vyrn explain the new character’s moveset and you try it out and experience it for yourself. Then they join your roster and you can play them as many times as you want.

Funnily enough, if you have the Djeeta DLC, her intro includes a summary of the WMTSB saga with some really good art (including the from the “I’m getting beheaded, can I call you back” meme) and then you learn how to do her moves.

If you have the DLC for Beelzebub and Belial, you unlock them at some point and, in a fun twist, you don’t have Lyria and Vyrn explaining their moves

Belial does the tutorials for them! With the goshdarn prettiest art I have ever seen.

He delivers all the explanations with innuendo, obviously (“We still haven’t reached climax?”) and if you play with JP audio, he sometimes says “Bubs-san, Bubs-san” before delivering more instructions.

Sidenote, Belial’s taunt is him manifesting an apple and rolling it around for a bit (and I think Avatar Belial squishes it, but I’m not completely sure rn) and when he gets hit while doing this, he drops the apple, which has its own hit box, so you can technically kick it around. If you taunt Beelzebub, he will sing-song Bubs-san~ to him while doing his apple thing, so that’s very fun. They just have a very specific dynamic in this game. They’re flirting, they’re divorced, they have never touched, they fuck every night.

Anyway, I’m adding this one to hurt you specifically, but other than that I hope you enjoyed my little presentation, because it’s like, my favorite thing about the entire game lmao

As you've might noticed from the content that I post, I have a very specific ships and pairings of my favorite characters, esp. when it comes to Beelzebub pairings.

Here are what I considered as OTP/ships that I enjoyed a lot:

Main:

-Gran x Beelzebub/Beelzebub x Gran (but I prefer the former than the latter)

-Lucilius x Beelzebub

-Beelzebub x Belial

I ship the 1st 2 as exclusively romantic, in a rival to lovers way with very specific of dynamics

I don't rly view Beelzebub x Belial as romantic but more to partner in crime/'friends' with benefits type

Side pair:

-Tomoi x Beelzebub

this thanks to Dandyism event that it's so hilarious yet I can't help but ship him and Tomoi cuz they have a hilarious yet fun dynamic.

-Lucifer x Beelzebub

He definitely in lovestruck towards Lucifer and it's just obvious, but he never went in advance tho

Platonic ship:

-Beelzebub and Narmaya. I think they could be such best buddies, will treat Gran as doting sister/male oneesan.

-Beelzebub and Shalem. I always sees them as siblings exclusively, they have similar viewpoint, except Beelzebub is rarely honest about his feelings (and Shalem would love to tease him about it). They always have interesting banter to each other.

Overall, they're that fashionable siblings who always looked good in anything they wear.

-Beelzebub and Ladiva. He definitely need some therapy and Ladiva is the perfect choice for that.

Definitely a no-no ship:

Hard notp: ships that involving him romantically/sexually to female characters but most esp. djeeta and cagliostro.

Also stated above, I only sees him and Shalem as sibling and nothing else.

I also avoiding any yumejo ships of him as I have some very unsavory experiences with yumejos, so I definitely don't wanna see any yumejo ship of him. And that also including "your character/self insert" as well.

Aside from what I had mentioned as hard notp, it's safe to assume other ships are fine by me.

These are the sets of boundaries that I want to be respected and I will respect yours. It's ok if you ship my notps but I prefer not being engaged/involved to it, like you're trying to convince me to like that ship as I'll simply block you.

Another year meant another summer of pinning your hair beneath a blonde bob wig and twirling around in a pink dress that required countless hours to recreate.

But it was because of your efforts of investing your all into faithfully bringing to life the character design of Djeeta that the organizers of Granblue Fantasy Festival reached out to have you as the official cosplayer to work the event. Appearing on mainstage to enthrall awaiting fans, assisting with the presentation of prizes during the various games planned for the attending seiyuu, walking the floor to pose for pictures by enthusiastic players--you were honored by this opportunity, one that you looked forward to year after year with each invitation.

The trek across Japan to attend GBF Fes during its tour also meant reunions with the other official cosplayers, some of whom you have bonded and befriended even beyond the event itself.

Such was the case with the three who portrayed Lobelia, Aglovale and Belial: Natsuya Kirishima, Makoto Tachibana, and Sousuke Yamazaki.

Besides being profound cosplayers who found their claim to fame from their GBF cosplays, the trio were known to even sound practically identical to their respective characters.

Though spirited and ever eager, Natsuya certainly wasn’t a shameless guro-addict like the twisted Lobelia. By contrast, Makoto was far too much of a big precious teddy bear to be arrogant like the regal Aglovale. Last of all, the aloof Sousuke only shared the common trait of being tall, dark, and handsome with the lasciviously depraved Belial.

It was always a wonderful time with the three, from your reunions just days before the event, spending the weekend indulging in your favorite mobile game, to hanging out for carefree fun before the eventual but dreaded goodbye.

But by Makoto’s suggestion for you all to hit up the newly opened Super Nintendo World after the Osaka run of GBF Fes, you expected for your parting to end on a higher note this time around at least.

Especially since, upon the conclusion of the second day of GBF Fes, it was Natsuya insisting you all hop into a taxi and celebrate with dinner at a karaoke joint along Dotonbori’s canal upon the return to your hotel located by the massive INTEX Osaka convention center space.

However, what you didn’t expect was for the evening to go about as it did.

Hues of soft pink, blue, and purple mood lighting that contrasted the sharp gleams within hazy irises of red, green, and teal.

Moody synths of 80s city pop accompanying lyrics yearning love and desire were muffled to your ears, the breathy huffs of sweet whines and low groans a much more distinct sound.

A blushing heat coursed through the entirety of your body, stoked even further by lips chilled by ice cold beer kissing your skin.

The hotly murmured question of “Say Captain, which one of us do you like most?” from Natsuya had yet to receive a verbal answer, of which you conveyed through a different, more physical kind of reciprocation to all three.

You had inklings of how this weekend was going to turn out, but surely not like this.

While setting out for Osaka, you ran into Natsuya while settling in for your bullet train ride from Tokyo. It was a delight to already see his handsome grin once again, making you all the more excited to reunite with the others. As it had been a long morning, you found yourself dozing off while you both caught up with one another. With your mind drifted to a weekend of cosplay fun and amusement park thrills, you weren’t aware that he snapped a photo of him beaming at his phone camera with a peace sign while proudly displaying your head resting on his shoulder during the train ride over, texting the picture over to Makoto and Sousuke.

Then, during the afternoon for the first day of GBF Fes, you had some issues with zipping up the back of your idol Djeeta cosplay. Thankfully, Makoto was in the next stall over in the private dressing room for official cosplayers and was prompt to help you out once he finished buttoning up his coat for Aglovale’s House of Wales attire.

You were about to head out to the mainstage when you heard Makoto’s flustered squawk of your name upon his realization that your skirt was lifted after having gotten bunched up somehow while you were trying to fix your zipper on your own. Given that time demanded your immediate presence to the stage, you weren’t as alarmed by the sudden presence of Natsuya and Sousuke upon their return from making their rounds through the main event floor in their cosplays.

But they were rather taken by the sight of your skirt’s hem being hastily tugged by Makoto’s fingers.

Though, you could see why things came to a head earlier today when you--now in Djeeta’s iconic skyfarer dress--and Sousuke joined each other on stage. As “Parade’s Lust” blared from the speakers, the audience watched as he knocked away your sword before embracing you from behind, his grinning lips planting onto your cheek while his large hands caressed your waist.

”Oi, oi, when did you have the time to practice that?!” Natsuya jeered with a raised brow and a smirk as the two of you made your way backstage.

Makoto was rendered too speechless to say anything.

Sousuke, whose hand still held yours from when he helped you step down from the main stage, merely shrugged with nonchalance, of which was betrayed by the hint of a smug grin sliding onto his lips. “We just did what felt natural.”

And surely, while the effects of liquor of the sweetest and hardest varieties were well underway, this moment shared with these three--unexpected as it was--felt seamless in its transition from a night of merriment to an evening of withheld desire spilling forth.

One of the many fun things about writing Djeeta: you have a rare opportunity to pick and choose certain aspects of her character and leave the rest.

Like the way she's cool and calm on the outside but anxious about her role as Singularity (like main GBF)? Excellent, that's still in-character.

Like her rambunctious and slightly ditzy (as in the anime and VS)? Also viable, enjoy!

And someone like Lyria and Belial, who're much more consistent, will have very different reactions to each interpretation. Whatever version of her you fell in love with (or simply like), they can too. (And in Belial's case there's the bonus, very interesting "I love the power-hungry beast inside you", which I really should use more often.)

And if, like me, you're a sucker for moeblobs and want to give Djeeta a *little* bit of that syrupy-sweet flavor...well, people know where the back button is. ^^;

to put it simple Bubs was made for versus but was introduced in the main game to create anticipation Babyl tower got added in both games i don't remember if at the same time or closeby The Cilius in versus was called from Belial from another timeline and is the one we met in the app and who disappeared in the rift(or comes from a veryu similar one) there's a second Lyria in relink...it's not the first time this happens..it's complicated

i mean Bubs introduction was about two years before gbvs' release so it seems a bit weird to me, esp since instead i've read he was planned to have a much bigger role in general in wmtsb. Though i suppose it doesn't make it impossible for them to have done so to create anticipation since versus was years in the making but huh.

Babyl was added first to gbf if i recall correctly, since i remember seeing people get mad when it was added to gbvs bc the main game proved us it was going to be tedious

as for the "some characters are brought from another timeline" i've heard a bit of that and how it especially applies to the wmtsb lore (that Djeeta comes from a timeline where wmtsb happened but not Gran)

but all of this is still confusing in general and well. oh whatever.

So, not to brag, but

I may have already unlocked the rainbow glasses for Belial and the special skin for Djeeta as well (she gets a really pretty sword, I'll take a picture later), because those are my mains and Rising let me import my old save data, thankfully

Compared to Versus, it seems they streamlined a lot of stuff which can be both good and bad

In Versus you got Renown Pendants for every round of Versus you played. A pittance, but you got some. It stacks up a bit during Arcade Mode, where you fight seven straight battles. You can use those to unlock art and music in the gallery, but it takes a while to be able to afford that stuff.

Then the Campaign had dailies where you got skill jewels + draw tickets for reaching certain goals and levels

The campaign also featured a Tower of Babyl where you got some resources that you could trade with Siero for special weapon skins, but some of those were also enemy drops sometimes

Granted, I don't know much about the campaign in Rising yet, so maybe I should shut up. I think it's different, I didn't see the Tower anywhere, thank God, but I also only had time to play a short time. You mainly used your rupies in Versus to level up weapons, so I hope that's not how to do it anymore, because you need rupies for everything else. I had such an organized, basically maxed out grid because I had enough money to upgrade everything that needed money to upgrade, but now you need money for other things

There's still draw tickets, but you can buy them with rupies in the store. Because yeah, Rising in dealing in rupies first and foremost. You get rupies for dailies now, there's three daily quests that you can do in any mode, such as "do two SSBAs" and they reset at 5 am JST, so at the same time as the Mobage. There's a countdown to the change which is not at all anxiety inducing lmao

Anyway, you can just straight up buy weapon skins now, thank God! I also bought two stages with money, you can get a costume for Siegfried that way, so let's hope more costumes become unlockable through in-game grind rather than paid

I have not yet bought the SSR glasses and I'm sorry, I straight up didn't see them until after I'd spent some money and they're kind of expensive, but I promise to get him the Gucci glasses he deserves

In any case, the process feels a lot more streamlined now. I managed to buy a skin and weapon I've been trying to grind to get in Versus and now I just have it, so that's great, I'm thrilled

It's a bit obnoxious that everything is the same currency so you gotta budget, but on the other hand, it's more practical this way, too. Everything is in the same spot and pretty straightforward. I just hope there's other ways to make rupies instead of just doing dailies, but I'll figure it out

Also, I think you gotta unlock/ buy/ win photo mode stuff, which is why it took a while for Sandalphon pictures to emerge

So yeah, it's definitely cool. I'm looking forward to playing more

Especially because it's just a tremendous feeling of relief to try and get a weapon and skin for months and then you can just buy it in ten seconds

so i checked ao3 for big fucking granblue and well i dont know what i was expecting other than what i found. belial fucker infestation. also there's an animation? or do we not speak about that

HELPPP. yeah that tracks, Belial does that to people. He's the most popular fucker in this game for a reason.

And yeah there's an animation and eeeeeeeeeeeeeeh

i didn't watch it personally so i'm not really well placed to talk about it. I think the early episodes adapt the early chapters of the Main Story, up to a certain point, and then it expands on the specific plot from the early chapters and add characters here and there from the mobage into unique story scenarios.

I think it's pretty okay as it is, but most fans of the game would tell you the Main Story - and especially, the early Main Story - isn't the most interesting part of Granblue :sob:

there's also a bit the fact that the MC of Granblue is a more type of silent protagonist you can choose the gender of (Gran or Djeeta are their names depending on gender), so they also easily serve as self insert. Of course in the anime, the MC is much more fleshed out (and kinda building a romance with Lyria), and the MC is going to be Gran no matter what, which can be allienating for Djeeta mains for instance.

but on the fun fact Gran's voice actor in the anime is also Lancelot's voice actor in the game, which is why he's one of the Four Most Important Seiyuu in The Game.

But yeah, no harm with the animation, i've heard it's good on its own rights, i just know most people who are deep into the game are probably more like "i didn't catch up with the side stories in game i don't have time to just rewatch the main story i already read it!!!!!" type.

At present there's three Alter Ego skins for the MC

Do you have a favourite among them or any opinions on them? I'd just really like to know

ooouuuh that's a cool question, thank you for asking!

i think my favorite one is the 2nd one, but as it goes:

The first one has a very good aesthetic in general, it's leaning more on the "extremely corrupted with malice" than the other two imo, which is pretty cool. I do like the crown and the hood on each of them, and i LOVE the strings/puppet imagery of this one.

If anything my problem is more than i don't find the clothes design super interesting. I know it's just a corrupted version of the base clothes, but yeah, Djeeta especially isn't really compelling to me.

And while i do like the "corrupted with Malice" in theory, i think Gran looks better than Djeeta about that and as a Djeeta main i end up getting very tired of seeing this specific sprite.

The second one is my favorite, hands down. I think both designs really rock. But i'm honestly already partial to it because it's based on Belial's design and it keeps the strong elements that makes Belial's design work so well.

I really love the hairstyle on this one, simple but efficient. Their expression is malicious but without being downright deranged in a sense? very liking it.

I also love the idea of Gran having the full apple but Djeeta having eaten her apple, considering the Apple should be based on, yknow, Adam & Eve eating the fruit, this reflects that and it's cool.

and else the details of Belial's design really stand out for the best. The boa, the jacket, it's all really cool, and i love the crop top for the both of them (though they should have made it shorter on Gran too while at it come on.)

Personally i'm obsessed with Gran's collarbones on this one.

And i do really like the designs of the shirts.

I'd say if they were going to give a sexy skirt to Djeeta with the asymmetrical legs design, they should at least have given an asymmetrical design to Gran as well, but i get wanting to have him closer to Belial's design. But as it is i do like even Djeeta's sexy design. If there's any skins that calls for it, it's the "corrupted by Belial" one after all.

The third design, based on Avatar!Belial, therefore still is based heavily on the previous design, but with the same idea as Avatar!Belial to be sexier, and more provokating. For Belial it was because he's pushed in so much pain that he double downs on how he behaves originally, esp on the vulgar-sexy.

But i'd say perhaps that on this one it goes a little too far for me.

Everything that made the previous design strong is still there, personally i just am not fan of the Djeeta decoletage and the pose she takes, even if i get the idea of it.

For Gran, i like it in general pretty well, loving the tramp stamp, but idk, i don't vibe with it as much.

It's like, the first design is basically just a quick corruption type, MC doesn't really get the time to change or anything, it's the corruption of who they currently are. So it has a bit more of an unkept vibe to it.

The second design is much more controled in that sense, it's typically dramatic villainy with a knack for presentation, and it keeps up with the "Belial type of sexy" in a way that is still more controled and elegant.

The third design, by virtue of being Avatar themed, makes it less controlled, more erratic, more vulgar than elegant. on a thematic level i find it super cool, but on a personal preference i vibe way less with it than with the previous one. I still think i prefer it over the first one though.

So that would be my opinion on the Alter Ego designs o7 and in term of preference it'd be 2>3>1 for me!

Surprisingly that's not what i thought about

Main inspiration was Forbidden Alter Ego - red eyes(Belial) and white hair with red horn (Voidwing Lucifer) and idea that maybe with 5* seraphic, when Lucifer is back, he would help MC control better this chaotic power (i just want Lucifer-inspired skin, i need it)

BUT THANKS FOR REALIZATION ANON, I LOVE IT

but still mainly think about Demon Lucifer taking his children to restaurant and Belial screaming, because he didn't want MC TO LOOK SOMEHOW SIMILIAR TO LUCIFER, THERE'S ENOUGH LUCIFACES FOR HIM

Just Lucifer, sipping coffee with small smile and Gran and Djeeta loudly telling him about their journey, finally having caring father figure in their lives

But oh i totally love the idea!!! if they uncap the Seraphics with a Lucifer themed story of having you control this part of you it would be so juicy. And tbh that adds to the idea of "Alter Ego is also from Lucifer's power" that the white hair ties back to him.
