Jack McBride
About me: Hi, my names Jack McBride, I’m 18, born 18th of march 1998, I’m from a small town in Cornwall called Looe, I feel like there are advantages and disadvantages to living here, one thing I like is that I have found it easy to get experience working as there are loads of jobs in the tourisms industry for people my age, I have been working since I was 13, the downside to living here is that the opportunity’s for careers are limited and its hard to get experience doing the job I aspire to do. My main interests are mostly sporty or artistic, I enjoy: photography, football, skateboarding, surfboarding, mountain biking, toumbstoning, swimming and live music. I would describe myself as a very social person, I have always had lots of really good friends and can honestly say that I’m yet to meet someone I don’t get on with or don’t like. Im also very competitive and driven, when doing a task I always do my best to do it to the highest standard possible.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS   • Passed all my GCSEs. • Was captain of my football team. • Was voted head of school council by my peers. • Was house leader for sports day. • Basic first aid training. • Won multiple sporting competitions including football and skating
EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE I have had 4 jobs and a work experience placement over my life, I started working for my parents aged just 13 in the café my parents own, started off just washing dishes as a KP but slowly gained enough confidence to start some front of house work. I then wanted a job that wasn’t as seasonal so a started working in a small Londis shop near where I lived this was idea as I could work all year round and as it was only evenings I was able to schedule it around my work in the café and do both, I was then offered work in a café across town with more hours and a better salary, I worked there for around a year as a KP along side Londis, the next job I got I feel was my most important in teams of learning and developing as a person, I got an offer to work in a fish restraint in town, I started out as just a KP and grew close to all the staff, I was soon taught how to do the prep and the sue chef job so I would be able to help out cooking if needed, I was then eager to learn front of house so I would be able to do all jobs in the restraint, so my boss agreed and I’m now able to do everything, I feel like the main thing I have got out of working here is confidence, before I was quite shy, but after a year of working with new people and hospitality training I feel more than confidant talking to and meeting new people.
Photography Experience Since a very young age I have always been interested in photography. Ever since I can remember I have loved taking photos, when I was younger I loved abstract photography but as iv got older iv been more drawn to action and portrait photography, I got a go pro last year to capture extreme sports but now also have a Nikon D300s DSLR I did photography at As level and am now doing a photography extended diploma at Plymouth collage of art, witch I love.
