I've been meaning to post this for awhile!! it's my homestuck keroro gunsou au!! I don't really have too many ideas based on their world (they'd be on alternia obviously) but I do have the main platoons designs! I'll be working on the rest of the cast later on, if you have any suggestions, comments, criticism, or just want to talk about it, PLEASE feel free!!! I would love to hear anyone's thoughts!

Keroro- For keroro, his horns are based on his shogun outfits and gundam models! His outfit is a military one (and the jacket is supposed to be a gundam jacket but it looks more like a letterman because of the colouring, ehe). All their signs are just their symbols because I thought changing it wouldn't really make too much sense. His chumhandle is from a friend because I couldn't think of anything past lazy LOL

Giroro- Giroro's horns are based on the ends of the guns he has, though it sorta makes him look like a classic alien. He prefers to wear red rather than indigo, though he does have indigo accents. He also prefers to wear his whole military uniform even though it isn't exactly comfortable, it's just how he likes to be seen.

Kururu- Kururu was super fun to design for me, he's my favourite character in the show. His horns are obviously swirls like his symbol, and his hair is just badly bleached, making it yellow and appear more curly than it is. He prefers to wear more relaxed clothing and the lab coat is mostly just for looks. I also made him prince of mind (because he is a bitch, and also because I think he likes messing with peoples minds rather than having knowledge (light)). He likes to pretend he's a lord of mind though and made his own god tier outfit of it in place of his prince one.

Dororo- Dororo's horns are based on his symbol (again). He is a violet blood but he is a rebel of the empire, not agreeing with how it treats lowbloods and just trolls in general. He hides his fins behind his hair and hat flaps (intentionally or not). He doesn't really like wearing violet besides the few accents and his symbol is coloured yellow instead of violet. It's not really known if he hides his face because of his status, because he get's sick a lot, or just because it's what ninjas do.

Tamama- Tamama's horns are based on his symbol as well, but split in half. I originally was going to make tamama a bronze blood because he's the lowest rank, but decided the caste known for their bouts of rage would fit better. He doesn't really participate in the clown religion besides the facepaint. He wears lime mostly because of keroro and he is also the only one in the platoon to have a tail! He is also the same exact classpect as gamzee, which is funny because my gamzee kinnie friend also kins tamama.

All their last names are just their rank because they don't have last names otherwise, and I just thought it would fit. also, from tallest to shortest it goes Dororo, Giroro, Kururu, Keroro, and Tamama.

-I have a theory/headcanon that the keroro platoon was created and put together by keron hq to kind of be a "mascot platoon" with keroro being the somewhat offical mascot for the keron army, so like I wanted to make keroro look kind of cutesy like a marketable mascot. Hes not fully marketable here, his designs a little too complicated, but I imagine that keron has an altered version of keroro that's much closer to his original purpose that they use in tv and in products

||Tamama||

-He/She/They, genderfluid, likes men that's all I know

-15(human years)

-SHES TALLLLLL for a keronian atleast

-to be honest he changed the most out of all the others

-anyways they have much bulkier limbs now

-I wanted to make him look a little "manmade" with the colors on their body n the way shes built I suppose?? theres a reason for that

-Tamama is a clone, like dark keroro. I hc that on keron clones have to be genetically distinct from from non clone keronians so they can be identified as clones, like for example, their underbellies being dark colors as compared to the light colors of most keronians, and the lack of feet.

-Hes a clone of one of the very high ranking soldiers of the keron army. They were created as an experiment to test genetic mutations and making stable lifeforms with said mutations. He was raised by one of the scientists who was having issues having children of their own and so decided to take her in. Keron is surprisingly very open about their genetic testing and the fact they create manmade keronians, so tamama was allowed to live a pretty normal life and went to school n such.

-She has an ED where he will often binge large quantities of food and then purge for extended periods of time

||Giroro||

-He/him, cis(?), the most he will say is bi-curious (Hes mega gay)

-his belt has multiple pictures of it, some of the cat, some of natsumi(NOT BC HE HAS A FUCKING CRUSH ON HER ITS BC HE CARES ABT HER LIKE A DAUGHTER I WILL KILL MYSELF OVER GIRONASTU AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY) but on the top is a picture of he and is family(garuru and his dad)

||Dororo||

-He/him, FTM, bisexual

-38(human years)

-Hes supposed to be canonically lean? no, fuck you, hes fat as hell actually

-Before coming to pekopon, he had a terrible ED, he would hardly eat or drink and this was mostly due to being psychologically abused by his mentor about being natrually plus-sized when he was training to be an assassin.

-When he came to pekopon, and became a ninja, he was able to overcome his ED and accept his body as it is. Realizing he was trans and transitioning helped a lot as well as the "ninja lifestyle".

-Also I hc that the time it took for him to reunite with the keroro platoon was significantly longer than how it was canonically (like 1 year), and when he reunited with the keroro platoon he was still struggling with body image issues relating to gender and weight. He was still in the middle of his journey of self-acceptance as well.

-Stretch marks bc I imagine that he gained a fairly large amount of weight in a short amount of time

-His hat drape thingy is much longer now(also stolen from ziv(hi ziv)) he treats it like hair sometimes

-some big ol long sharp claws❤(he likes to scratch things up like a cat, theirs a cat stretch pole at he and koyuki's place)

-Droopy eyes bc I think it makes him look silly

||Kururu||

-He/they/ku, gender? I hardly know her, pansexual

-I imagine that they have quite a lot of self hatred issues and an inferiority complex. Ku hates to take care of himself bc he views themself as "undeserving" of care.

-The weird jerky uncaring asshole thing he has going on is mostly a shield so people won't see his true emotions, but also it's so people will hate him. In ku's mind if people hate him then they won't care about him, since he believes hes unworthy of it. It ends up being an toxic cycle, though, as he continues to keep up the jerk act, he believes hes more and more unworthy of love and care, so keeps it up, and so on and so forth.

EXTRA BITS:

-Kururu is the average height for civilian keronians, while dororo and giroro are around the height of soldier keronians. I hc that the keron army typically recruits taller keronians especially for on field stuff.

-I HC that keronians do croak, and keronians all have unique croaks. They typically croak when they are content, kind of like a purr but more casual. However in keronian society its considered rude to purr so most do it at home alone or with family. Croaking is kind of like a stim for keronians, they can do it as they please but sometimes they'll do it subconsciously as well

-speaking of purring keronians also purr. They purr when they feel good or are very happy. Unlike croaking they can't control purrs. What makes a keronian purr depends on the individual, sometimes a keronian has to feel really really good to purr sometimes a keronian will start purring at the drop of a dime lol

-Sometimes they knead like a cat but it's quite rare and only some do it.

Wait, was Tamama originally an adult!?

So, I’ve been thinking about the Keroro series recently and there’s something that’s been pulling at the back of my mind for a while; a few things seem really different compared to the beginning of the series, in terms of the series canon. And I know some things were influenced by the anime and considering how drastically the series changed from the pilot chapter it makes sense that the world building shifted a bit, but it looks like Tamama was originally meant to be a lot older than he is now.

I remember reading that his actress, Etsuko Kozakura said in an interview once that she voiced Tamama as being around 19 years old, and in a retrospective she wrote on her blog she mentioned that she sometimes wonders if she overshot his age a few years. And there was that one episode of the anime where he briefly becomes an adult (and orders cola at a bar) due to the age gun accidentally hitting him. And a lot of people pin him as being even younger after that booklet was released giving their ages (though I take it with a grain of salt since it also lists them all as being the same height when Kururu is slightly taller, even with his poor posture, and Tamama is slightly shorter).

But then in the earlier chapters it looks like he was originally an adult with some form of hypoplasia that kept him from maturing normally. In the New Years chapter from book 4 he’s shown getting drunk with the others and some of the comments he makes imply that he’s not only done it before, but has often enough that he knows how it effects him and have a nickname tied to his tolerance (or maybe he’s just playing up his tolerance by claiming people have called him “the fish”). Or at least in his internal monologue after his confession he realises that he’s not actually drunk yet.

Plus there was the “interview” with Tamama in the first book where he mentions his tail being “full of bad memories”. The interviewer even mentions assuming that it was because Tamama isn’t an adult yet and he replies that he “lets everyone think that” and that he “always knew [he] was special” and that things were rough for him at first because of it. To me it seems like his original backstory would have been that Tamama was originally considered a late bloomer and as time went on and he still hadn’t matured it eventually got looked into and turned out that it either wasn’t going to happen at all, or at least not for a long time and as a result has spent his entire adult life with people either not taking him seriously because he looks like a child, or assuming he’s a girl that likes wearing boy’s hats (I wonder if that’s why in the Kemono Friends event story he doesn’t care about being turned into a girl, people have made the mistake so often that he doesn’t care any more and at least now there’s a legitimate reason to assume he is).

That might also be why we’ve gotten so little of his backstory compared to Keroro, Giroro & Dororo; it still hasn’t been completely decided on, or at least was changed at some point. I’m not sure which option would be better, but it would explain part of why he is the way he is now, and some of the aspects that would make it interesting are still there. Namely how his cute appearance is a double edged sword; on the one hand he seems to take pride in it, or at the very least enjoy being doted on as a result, but on the other hand it damages his credibility. People have a hard time taking you seriously when you look like you haven’t even finished puberty yet. I remember at least one point in the manga where he gets defensive about his appearance, it’s in one of the chapters with Ouka where before he tries to fight her he delivers a monologue about how he’s “been put on a pedestal as the platoon’s feel-good icon, but is actually a tragic hero faced with a dilemma” true some of it was probably to be dramatic, but right before attacking he says “If you dismiss me as something small and cute you’re gonna get burned!”. But at the same time he still doesn’t want anyone else challenging his position as the cute one because if he has to deal with negative aspects without having the positive ones, he just can’t handle it.

Either way it would explain part of his resentment issues, especially towards Taruru; it’s frustrating enough that your several years younger student gets promoted ahead of you, it’d be even worse suspecting it’s because he’s normal and that makes him seem more capable, especially if it was hard for you to get into the field at all (Keronians are already cute and hard to see as a threat, I can imagine it’d be difficult for somebody cuter than average to get into the army). When you add the root of his over attachment issues being hinted at in the kindergarten story as being due to always being the last one to go home because everyone else’s parents picked them up long before his could, if they were even able to take him home at all. Even if it was something as innocuous as his parents both working later, it clearly had enough of an impact that it still affects him years later; it’s no wonder he’s such an incredible mess now.

It could also explain his easy acceptance of his circumstances on Earth without his necessarily being from a rich family or self-entitled; between the issues he had with his family as a young child and his not being taken seriously now, he might see it as things finally going his way. So it could be a matter of “It’s fine that I’m better off than everyone else, they’re happy enough and had a fairly normal life, now it’s my turn”. Even in the anime where he clearly isn’t an adult yet some of this is still applicable where he still had to deal with feelings as a child that none of the other children had to (the kindergarten episode was animated in the flash series) and people still have trouble seeing how capable he is under his cute appearance.

I bought all these from Liberty 8 Akihabara. I think these set was the difficult to collect them all from this trip. Because it was not in the same place but separated all the fifth floor of Liberty 8. Not only that, But also have different price! (The Giroro one was the most varied price, some Giroro was 600 Yen or 500 Yen( But I finally found Giroro at 300 Yen At last XD )
