okay finished the familiar! I’m stewing over my thoughts
#the familiar#hm. hmmm…#I think the S&B fanfic angle did it a disservice in some ways#I think it should have been either More of a fanfic (let santángel be evil!) or… less#I do think it hit that thing some derivative works have where some vestigial choices are made and carried over from the source material#but the new work doesn’t really support it#really curious to see if LB is ever going to write something no grishaverse that isn’t just darklina in a hat#book talk#i ramble sometimes
