Valkyrie as shimeji buddies !!
Synopsis : What would the members of Valkyrie be like as your little shimeji buddies ??
Era : N / A
Warning/s : N / A
Mentioned Character/s : G/N!Reader / Mika / Shu
A/N : Hi Anon !! Thank you so much for your kind words !! I’m so glad you liked it 🥺❤️ and honestly same here~ Goddd the things I’d do for them to be real 😭
Also~ thank you so so much for being my first request !! 💕 I hope you enjoy !!
•❅───✧❅✦❅✧───❅•
Mika Kagehira :
He’s the sweetest, most thoughtful little guy to ever grace your screen. He always greets you with a wave and a big smile when you boot up your system and wishes you a great day or a good night when you log off~ He’s always so excited to see you and just be around you as a whole !!
He’s genuinely so soft for your affection, it’s honestly really surprising that he doesn’t turn into a little Mika puddle every time you give him some !! Head pats, a heart path with your cursor, or even just words of affirmation such as “You’re amazing Mika !!” gets him all blushy and flustered. He even giggles a bit as he tries to hide the growing blush on his cheeks with his little hands.
Oftentimes, when you’re logged off, he would organize your desktop and files so that everything is neat and tidy when you log back on. He sees your desktop as a shared working space and gets super happy when he sees your bright smile and appreciation when it's cleaned :)
Mika will gladly help you with your work as best as he can !! Not only that but, if there’s something you both don’t understand, he’ll help you find sources too !! Mika will make sure that they’re all reliable and would try to stop you from using unreliable sources if he notices you on those type of sites.
Mika’s hardworking nature causes him to sometimes go into very deep rabbit holes when he’s helping you. Sometimes, you gotta fish him out of the 10th page of Google. [ The fact that he went to the 2nd page in the first place is already telling on how serious he is when it comes to helping you~ ]
When it comes to feedback as a whole, Mika will tell you the things he loved and what you did well, and the things you can improve on~ Not only that, but he’ll even try to help guide you through the steps so that you don't get confused. He doesn’t want to see you struggle or get frustrated over something that wasn't worth fussing over to begin with~
Even with his habit of overworking himself, Mika refuses to let you overwork yourself. He doesn’t want you to get burnt out so he always reminds you to take breaks and relax in between working sessions !! You would often remind him to take breaks himself and, depending on the severity, you sometimes have to physically pick him up and move him to the other side of your screen to get him to actually stop and relax for a bit~
Now you’re both trapped in a perpetual state of making sure that the other takes a break but you both came to a compromise where you’d take breaks together !! You and Mika would often just relax and watch videos, play games or scroll through social media for a bit. Mika’s more of an observer than an active participant but he’s still super happy to talk to you while you’re doing those things~
Sometimes he would sew an outfit for you and would show you when he’s done !! He gets all giddy and excited seeing how happy you get and how much you loved the outfit. He knows that you can’t physically wear the exact outfit he made, but if you took his design to a tailor and got it made [ or you sewed it yourself ] and then showed it to him… His heart would beat so fast that he thinks he’d accidentally mess up one of your settings from how strong it’s beating !!
There are times where the two of you wouldn’t talk as much due to working on your own projects, but Mika still loves being in your presence so he would often sit in a corner on your screen to avoid bothering you but, at the same time, still be there if you ever needed him.
•❅───✧❅✦❅✧───❅•
Shu Itsuki :
Shu’s the type to make sure that you'd get your work done in one go and this is because he doesn’t want you to do everything the night before. After all, how can you perfect your craft in just one night alone? Perfection takes time so start your project now !! Who cares if it’s due in 2 weeks, better now than later !!
His keen eye for detail knows no bounds, he can spot an error from a mile away. Are you seriously going to submit your project with that pixel a shade lighter than the ones surrounding it? Go tidy it up, it won’t take long~
His nagging means no harm though. He wants you to succeed and knows that you can accomplish amazing things, that’s why he’s being overly critical. You can do better than this and he knows it !! He’s secretly rooting for you [ though, he’ll never say it out loud. ]
He’s super knowledgeable and would help you when it comes to subjects that you struggle with. If you need sources, he’ll give you the ones he used himself, so you know they’re reliable !! He’ll help you through your papers and would even counter some of your weaker arguments on purpose in order to help you strengthen your own claims with more evidence and explanations~
When it comes to online shopping, he tries to subtly steer you towards the right outfits but he’s not subtle. Like... At all… He would flat out refuse to let you swipe your card if you’re planning on buying anything he considers “atrocious”. In the end though, Shu’s judgment is always right and now, you rarely have to return anything because they all match your aesthetic and suit your features to a tea !!
He secretly adores your affection but will actively pretend that he hates it. He’s not as subtle about it as he thinks he is though. A lot of the time, it goes like;
[ Draws a heart with your cursor path. ] “Are you serious? Stop being so childish…” “Aww sorry Shu.” [ Doesn’t do it anymore. ] “The sheer disrespect for you to believe that I don't deserve an ounce of appreciation for all the things I do for you !! I’ll have you know tha-”
Shu would often redesign your desktop with your aesthetic in mind and, even though he’s complaining about having to clean up after you, this is his way of trying to ease your workload when you’re busy with assignments. He hopes that designing your desktop would make you feel better :) [ Don’t call him out on this though, because he will feverishly deny it. ]
When you and Shu get busy with your own projects, you’d both accidentally pull all-nighters together. Sometimes he’d notice that it’s getting late but when he looks at you, he deeply admires your sheer dedication to finish your work and believes that he shouldn’t bother you. Though, he’ll make a subtle, off-handed reminder and leave the choice to you. If you want to sleep now or pull an all-nighter, he’s ok with anything because, if you do decide to continue working, he’ll keep you company through the night.
If you ever wanna cook or bake something, Shu’s willing to help you find good recipes and would give you links to websites with the best ones. The 5 links with different croissant recipes is totally just a coincidence though !! So might as well make some now, right?
Shu would also design outfits for you and actually has a folder filled to the brim with different outfits he made for you and you alone. Even though he wants you to wear them, he doesn’t trust the tailors with his designs because they need to be perfect !! They’re for you after all~ But… If you know how to sew yourself, he wouldn’t mind letting you make them in his stead. He gets super proud when he sees you wearing the clothes he designed. If you’re quick enough, you might even catch him softly smiling at you before you finally click “shut down” to go out for the day.

Things that help with focus/productivity, while I'm thinking about it.
This is by no means a comprehensive list but as someone who struggles with keeping up with workflow (especially going back to college), and balancing taking real breaks and how my brain works/keeps up with tasks, I've tried a lot of different apps, methods, and other such stuff -- especially stuff targeted toward ADHD brains and such.
So here is a non-exhaustive list of things I've tried and my rough opinions on them. A Disclaimer: I prefer handwriting things and tend to lose or forget things if they are on a screen. So please take any application/browser use with that grain of salt.
Notion
Calendar, wiki-maker, to-do list tracker, automation and innovation that excites. I get very overwhelmed in Notion, there's so much you can do there, but I get the interest in how it works and such. I use it to track my reading list (a snippet shown below) and a few other things that I don't really want to put somewhere else (because the tables on Notion auto-format, which is nice), so it's like a good 4/10 for me.
Tumblr media
Obsidian
The markdown file creator and organization vault system. It's daunting to get into, a bit confusing at first, but there's a ton of videos on how to get started and how to get organized and it's so nice to have everything link together in a way that follows a legitimate train of thought. You will have to force it to be your second brain, but I like it so much better than other note-taking apps. 9/10 (it is so terrifying to get into). Bonus, though, look at my baby:
Tumblr media
Google Calendar
yanno, one of the OGs. I want to use Microsoft calendar but that application has crashed every device I have tried to open it on. Google Calendar is good for organizing events, doing all the stuff calendar's do, and setting up recurring events and editing them with little hassle. I don't work in a team or need anyone to look at my calendar's except me, so I can't speak to that functionality, but I know it's used by a lot of people for that reason. 7/10 just because I only recently learned how to customize colors.
Microsoft Calendar
just to be fair. It would be an amazing application: integrated to-do list that is in-app, a very clean weekly look, sticky notes, all of it is hooked directly into the window you're looking at your emails at, it can auto-set reminders on a separate tab for you. Except, again, it has crashed every single piece of technology I own, including my university desktops. Just from opening it. 2/10 for wasted potential. If it works for you, I am so happy for you, but I cannot get it to work for me and that's what I'm focused on here.
Bullet Journaling
Another classic. Ryder Carrol was on something else. Quick, efficient, a great way to use up the notebooks you bought that you swore you'd use and then didn't touch for months because it "wasn't the right thing to use it for". You don't need the special dot-grid book, you don't need fancy fucking layouts. You just need a pen, some kind of notebook, and a list of things you need to get done. I love being extra about it, but there's no reason to. It's a good planner, I like having a physical copy of my life to look at and organize my thoughts with, and it's fun to do. 9/10 for easy onboarding and versatile creativity.
Various "Calendar/tracker/etc" Apps
I've gone through the gauntlet on these. Productivity apps that "plant a tree" so long as you don't use your phone so you can get stuff done, group calendar programs and browser applications, minimalist to-do lists on your phone, maximalist to-do lists on your phone, Habitica, etc. Fully ymmv on any of those, I do recommend checking out the to-do lists if you need them, but unless you have a team to manage, you don't need a calendar that isn't Google/iCal/Microsoft realistically.
Sticky Notes
Bad. Terrible idea. I hate doing it, I never remember them, and it feels wasteful. If it works for you, I'm so happy for you (genuine), but I hate it. 1/10.
White Board
Like a physical one. Full opposite of Sticky Notes, I'm not gonna lie. It's delightful, I love having it, it's not wasteful in the same way, and there's a satisfaction to erasing shit off that board. If you can afford a big one, get a big one. I have a desk one and I love it it's so nice to have. 10/10 no notes.
There's not a lot else I can think of at the moment, but thank you for reading if you've gotten this far. I do have YouTube recommendations if you would like to learn to use (say) Obsidian or Notion. I also have videos on formatting Google Calendar.

The new PC saga
So recently I had a hardware failure with my old desktop computer. It's served me well, my little war machine has been marching on for what must be a decade now. (I don't know when I got it exactly, but that feels right) However, it started having more and more issues that I, at the time, chalked up to the hard drive (The thing that keeps all your files long term) and it's definitely not helping, but I discovered that wasn't the issue.
Turns out the power supply was actually at fault for a lot of the issues, like it turning off randomly and restarting…or freezing moments after booting, I'm not sure how that works but sure. Anyway, order a new PSU and it works fine. Clean out my PC which I hadn't done in-well, however long I built it because my PC is right up against the wall of my tiny room, so I can't really do that without a whole saga full of me stabbing myself on a table, so I tend to avoid it if I can.
I figured, however, that it was time for an upgrade anyway so I waited for my new parts to come after making sure the rest of the PC was fine and I didn't lose any important data. Today is the day that I finally got the last part of my new PC (Which, the BIOS is not a part I expected to cause me problems but I guess it didn't like my HDD because it refused to boot until I enabled a specific setting)
Now, what I failed to mention is that I have this beefy aftermarket CPU cooler, I think it's called an EVO 212, and it's great at making sure your computer is chill! Like, I forgot to plug the fan back in and it still worked just fine…minus the metal part being a burning hazard to any fool who dares touch it. (I am the fool) Problem is: this cooler is so beefy that it doesn't actually fit in my case properly, I need to wrap the case's cover over it, which isn't ideal to do with inflexible metal but I did it somehow!
So I did a bit of reading and people were saying the stock cooler for the new CPU, an i5 12400F, is actually pretty good. I decide "y'know what? Maybe I should just give it a try" and was THAT a mistake! Now, it's been a while since I used a stock cooler, but I don't think they ran at 45C when doing nothing! Idle, I expected about 34C, not sometimes hopping up to 60 for funsies to make the fan say hello!
"Well, maybe it just sucks at staying cool when idle, maybe the heat dissipating really gets going at faster speeds" is what I thought but….the fact it reached 100C would say otherwise. I understand I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to how modern computer hardware operates after my first and only time building a PC, but I don't think that's the new normal.
…I think I should just go get stabbed by a table again to swap out the cooler, even if it is very inconvenient. I can't be dealing with that.

"So... what is it that I'm looking at exactly?", asked Amanda as she sat idly at her desk, the young woman surrounded by the four walls of her small, cozy office that acted as a sort of border between Human Resources and the rest of the floor that was dedicated to Sales. The room was bland at a first glance, a very typical space really, the kind of one someone would be able to find anywhere in the corporate world without evening having to look at all, it would just be there: walls painted a neutral shade of beige with a tad bit of simple white molding, four fluorescent lights mounted into the ceiling to provide proper, optimal lighting, no windows (as to eliminate visual distractions and maintain climate control according to the office security guard, Frank), a plain yet sturdy desk and chair somewhere between being in the center and off to the side of the space, one slightly used, slightly outdated computer, and a few framed photographs of Amanda's friends and family scattered around the space on those otherwise naked walls and atop her rather bare desk by her desktop. Oh, and right in front of her door stood a large chalkboard she recognized as the one from the main conference room, covered in scribbles and lists and what appeared to be charts and graphs she could barely decipher. That wasn't exactly normal to put it simply, not even usual considering the new normal of the office since the shift in management, and neither was the fact that her two coworkers, her fiance Evan and his best friend Tim, stood on either side of the offsetting chalkboard, both men yammering on almost nonsensically about what she could only assume was a subject that was in some way related to their boss. The "Head Vampire" as Tim called him, Max.
"Amanda, I love you, and you got to listen to us! Max was telling us earlier in the break room about other supernatural creatures out there... and I think my dad might be a werewolf! I mean, what if that means I'm a werewolf, or my mom, and what if werewolves try and-", Evan went on rambling before the woman he loved stopped him, holding out a hand for him to halt his words as she pinched the bridge of her nose and simply gave Tim a look that said "Don't start either.", in which he promptly shut his mouth before sound ever escaped past his lips. "Babe... Evan, before we consider the possibility that maybe, maybe your father, a man I've met and spent holidays with several times along with your mom is by any stretch of the word a werewolf, maybe we can consider the option that Max is just saying all of that to fuck with you? I mean yeah, we all know your dad is pretty hairy, and you have a photo on your desk of the three of you in front of their house so... he could have noticed it and just wanted to mess with you knowing how you and Tim have become Ghostbusters lately.", Amanda deadpanned rather nonchalantly as she leaned back into her seat and let her words hopefully sink in for the two. After a few moments it seemed as if they did, thankfully, and Evan's expression was just about turning into one of both realization and anger at his former college rival when, because of course he did, Max passed by the trio and the conspiracy board and did an immediate double take at the sight.
"Um... what's- Hehe, what's happening in here? Hangman... pictionary maybe, because I don't remember it being any special day to slack off, especially for you three.", the sales manager chuckled, his tone the epitome of false amusement that was common of men and women in his seat of power, and even a tiny hint of resentment, but that wasn't necessarily unfounded. Granted, Max had just about every reason to hate Evan, Amanda, Tim, Frank, and just about all of the humans left that worked for him for what had transpired the day the three men had figured out that the new sales manager was, as Tim put it from that day onward, the "Head Vampire" among the coup of undead bloodsuckers that had once been their annoying coworkers. Let's just say that they lost a lot of staff that afternoon, and the cleaning staff worked overtime. "Ah... nothing, Max. Evan and Tim were just about to scrub that board off from the last Phallicite meeting, weren't they?", Amanda quickly answered before either one of her lovable idiots could say something to piss off their employer, and she was beyond relieved to see the lie work as Max relaxed with a shrug of his shoulders and turned to leave back to his office.
You know... for a vampire, Amanda would have guessed Max could sense when there was something approaching or in his way, but it looked as though she was wrong.
"Fu- shit, Y/N, I am so sorry! Fuck, do- do you need any help with that?", Max sputtered out quickly, dare Amanda even say nervously as she observed her boss kneel down to help one of the new hires, Y/N, pick up and hopefully reorganize the stack of papers and files regarding the company accounts that had just recently been landed. "Don't worry, Max, it was an honest mistake.", she smiled, kneeling down with him and giving his shoulder a squeeze of reassurance, and Amanda was once again perplexed when Max froze up. She never thought she'd see the day that Max Phillips was a shy, lost for words pile of goo, but it was happening right inside her office, and it was honestly entertaining.
"Max... you have like a thing for Y/N or something?" Tim asked quizzically of the vampire, only to recieve a cold look from their boss as he realized his own show of weakness after the woman in question had left to her cubicle. "I could still turn you. Or eat you.", was his only response before leaving for his office, but yes. He certainly did.
A/N: Well, I hope you liked this, that's all i can really think of to say!
