#so tired of the cultural Christianity discourse#cultural Christianity; christian normativity; and christian hegemony all mean different things that’s why they are used differently#I’m so tired of any time someone (usually a jew) mentions cultural christianity they get attacked and the justification is always#‘well I’ve seen it used [inaccurately] to say this so it’s bad’ by atheists who are culturally christian#just because one person misuses a term does not mean that it is bad or that the way they used it is the only way it is used or the right use#also I haven’t seen anyone misuse it to say that atheists are actually christian. I have seen atheists try to twist other people’s words to#accuse them of saying that though! and I’m not saying there aren’t people out there who are misusing it but I’ve seen more atheists#trying to twist it to accuse someone of misusing it than actual misuse#cultural Christianity is a value neutral descriptor#every society has a culture and with christian hegemony and normativity everywhere and just the whole society steeped in christianity#of course you’re going to end up with a society that is culturally christian! because religion and culture are inherently intertwined!#and these debates always end in antisemitism
