Why are there still people who KNOW it was confirmed a fan project still trying to hype up the UZ Inu stuff as genuine and acting like their hidden 'hints' are real lore 😭 I wanna go over some points as to why the arguments I've seen don't really hold up at this point.

Trying to get people excited about 'real' content despite it confirmed as not so isn't... A great idea. Yes, the undertale support email that got back and said it was fanmade wasn't Toby himself, but y'all realise he has people from fangamer who playtest his games, right? Plus they know him better than any of us could - they're gonna know when a giant dump of enough music to make up an entire chapter doesn't feel like it's truly his (or if they've heard any of his REAL tracks that world prove these aren't real, such as the genuine themes for Tenna or Toriel).

Yeah, there's lots of toby-ish parts about them but... Some of y'all really need to listen to more utdr fangame osts and fan music/fan music edits in general. People are VERY good at this. Y'all can explain to me why Jockington's theme would make canon sense to contain Ghost Fight though, looking forward to that explanation.

U.Z. Inu being an actual psuedonym he's used in the past proves nothing either - have y'all never heard of the countless fake Toby Fox accounts across a ton of different social media? They just chose a more vague one - most likely bc this is SoundCloud and they'd rather not mislead people THAT badly since Toby himself shares his stuff there and they don't wanna get in trouble or make things difficult for him.

The other argument I've seen is that 'He probably just really wants to share his music! He's been waiting so long!' this man has the patience of a saint. He hid every scrap of deltarune from us for YEARS - and besides, he showed us new music on the ut anniversary and the sweepstakes anyway - more than I expected tbh! He'd have no reason to 'leak' that much music, and ESPECIALLY not to toss out random lore hints with it. Again, that's what the sweepstakes were for. I'd say the closest thing to this he really did was the deltarune website in 2017 - but that was a single page with one sentence and no music. Again, this U.Z. Inu situation isn't his style.

Tldr; it's clearly a fan project, and that's okay! Nothing wrong with appreciating fan works for what they are - that's what fandom is about after all. Whoever's behind this deserves some appreciation for their work (bc it all sounds rad as hell!), and I hope they drop their social media for us to go check out once they've finished playing their little game.

i'm asking out of a place of wanting to understand, so please don't assume i am accusing you or attacking you, but regarding a post you reblogged recently, it was an ask where templeofshame claimed that if dnp weren't together it would be kind of like "baiting" us but i really don't think that's fair? they haven't EVER said or pretended to be in a closeted relationship, only been friends that joke a bit about their occasionally romantic tendencies, i have friends who think me pt.1

this ask is long due to there being several messages, so i’m putting it under a cut. the post in question: x

me and my best friend are together when we’re really not. we’ve said so, but eventually just stopped denying the claim while occasionally joking about it. i think its unfair of us to act like they owe us something? they don’t owe us a “coming out” (i agree with op tho that coming out has issues of it own, but its the most relevant term) neither do they have to tell us if they aren’t together. 

however we perceive their relationship is our business, and as long as we aren’t toxic about it pt. 2  then really we shouldn’t care about ppl calling us “silly shippers” cause shipping them isn’t weird or rude, i, myself, truly believe they are together, but i don’t think that they owe us anything. they are real people with their own complex lives that we may not understand, heck, that THEY may not understand and they are just living their truth. for whatever reason, they may feel that they don’t want to tell people that they’re in a relationship (if they are in one) pt. 3but neither do they feel the need to (and in my opinion, shouldn’t feel the need to) explain and clarify their status to us.

 it isn’t in any way baiting or manipulation. if we decide to invest our lives and our time into writing fanfics and making art then that is our choice! they are obviously fine with it so long as it isn’t shoved in their faces, but they don’t owe us clarification, maybe i’m misunderstanding something, i just don’t think it’s fair to say that they are being manipulative pt.4simply by being themselves? 

they are their own people with their own reasons for keeping private or not telling us. they have never pretended like phan is real, have even denied it in the past, never made merch or something that has catered to shippers specifically. they have simply let us be (even if dan was quite rude about it before, but i believe he has improved a lot over the years) and made some quips about it. they choose to share parts of their lives with us and however pt5 the phandom reacts to that is our “issue”. 

in summary, i believe that it is unfair to say that if they aren’t together it means we have been baited and manipulated and “wasted our time” because i really don’t think that’s fair to the good times we have had while shipping them. they are real people that owe us nothing about their private lives and can hide or reveal as much or as little as they want. i do believe that some people DO “queerbait” irl, especially ytbrs, but dnp have never pt.6acted fake or overly romantic to seem like they’re in love, their bond, in my opinion is genuine, and whatever we read into that is valid, but it doesn’t mean that they owe us an explanation. 

i think i should end this now, but before i go, know that i do NOT intend this to be a dig at anyone, just wanted to share my perspective and ask your opinion about what i’ve just shared. i just see ppl acting like dnp could qb us and it kind of makes me think. have a nice day, take care, peace out! end 

ooof anon, i appreciate that you sent this to me, but i’m really not the right person for it! i’m not one of the smart people in this fandom, nor one of the cool ones, so discussing things with me over anon is not as fun and rewarding as sending an ask to one of the popular people haha. but i’ll reply with my thoughts anyway!

we’ve had discussions about this on IDB before and my opinion hasn’t changed since the last time i said anything on this subject.

TO BEGIN WITH:  i in no way believe they are consciously encouraging the shipping to make money. they are two people in a long term relationship that navigate a difficult world of being queer, being popular and trying to stay private.

1) “me and my friend” - while i definitely appreciate and understand that, we have to try to not compare dnp to ourselves if we want to make a proper point. i could say that me and my friend x haven’t talked in 2 years but i still consider them a friend, which doesn’t mean that it’s the norm for everyone - same goes for the “me and my friend” arguments concerning dnp. i don’t mean you necessarily, i mean things i’ve seen over the years. “me and my friend always say i love you! we live together! we spend all our time together! we’re platonic!” - that’s awesome but it doesn’t mean anything about dnp

2) i don’t think @templeofshame acted like dnp owe us anything. i took it more as like at this point, dnp admitting to having been platonic this whole time (lol i’m laughing while typing this) would have been a form of queerbaiting. templeofshame never said they owe us a “coming out” or anything like that

3) you have to remember that their audience is largely queer. to a lot of the younger fans, they are some sort of role models and maybe even eye-openers when it comes to their [fans’] own sexuality. they are most likely aware of this and definitely accept it.

4) the biggest thing i guess i should explain is why i believe that them having been platonic this whole time would have been some form of queerbaiting and… and there is no way to put it while still being nice? so forgive me, this is my opinion and i’m not trying to start drama.

they DEFINITELY benefit off phan. they have since the start (or at least dan). back in their younger days, people didn’t really ship them as much as assume they were a couple, that’s how they behaved and most people would jump to that conclusion. when shit hit the fan (vday + general life stress) and dan started lashing out, shipping got real hard. and dnp could have left it there, could have left shipping as that elephant in the room that we’re not allowed to mention, but no

slowly, gradually, they went back to accepting shipping. they haven’t denied anything in years and in many ways they encourage it. and really, no one will make me believe that they - as in the joint brand of dan and phil - would be as popular as they are without the shipping. lots of people watch them for their chemistry and hear of them through phan. they themselves no longer shy away from it - see tatinof fanfic scenes, their fanfics in tabinof, all sorts of things i’m too tired to mention - lots of recent things from this year.

so yeah, i believe they are very aware of phan and accept it, and if they accepted it while being two bros in ~other relationships~ or ~perpetually single~ then yeah, i would feel it’s wrong. not because they said something outright but because 9+ years of certain behaviors are as good as admitting to it. 

they are basically out at this point, both as not being straight and being a couple, and i’m happy they got there on their own terms.

bottomline - i firmly believe they’re together and all that is missing is an actual confirmation - which we don’t ‘need’ - but if they weren’t together, we’d be right to be upset by this point.

I actually want Jungkook to see how shitty the fandom is. To see what the TKers say. I know Jimin sees it, but I honestly want JK to see what happens. I know your  ask was in regards to the “Jimin not being GCF main model” situation and the storm it brought with it, so I’m sorry for being late.

I think you got your wish a few days later when Jimin forgot to write Tae’s name and all hell broke loose. Hate tweets, hate hashtags, death threats.. you name it, Jimin got it all. Mostly from solo Tae stans but sadly from OT6 “ARMY’s” too, many of who t/k shippers. A quick disclaimer here: I know many many many Tae and t/k stans are respectful and love Jimin and would never harm Jimin but let’s be honest - all ships have some nasty bad apples and in this particular case we really got to see exactly how nasty some of the t/k and Tae biased ones can get. 

I politely disagree with you, Anon. I never ever want Jungkook or anyone from BTS to see hateful messages, especially because of something as dumb as ships (don’t attack me, I’m a shipper/supporter too). With Kookie and Jimin I’m even more sensitive considering the amount of insults that these two had gotten through the years from “ARMYs”. When I said that JK might have had a little too much faith in the fandom saying that “not main model” thing, I didn’t mean that he is naive or oblivious but that maybe he thought he had already made it perfectly clear how special JM is to him and believed people woudn’t actually turn this into another “I don’t like Jimin” charade. Unfortunately he was wrong.

Nevertheless, Jungkook is (hasn’t been for a time now) blind to the way twitter can be. In fact, I would say he is the one who has suffered the most from it (well, with the recent hate for Jimin they might be tied now). Maybe some of you don’t know but it is not without a reason that JK left twitter and now posts only once in a blue moon if it’s a major event and even then it’s not a given. For those of you who don’t know, we may say Jungkook was basically scared off Twitter with the way how ARMYs acted towards him. Let me give you some infro on one (of at least two) particularly gruesome instance: the hell that happened after BTS “Rainism” special stage.  Bangtan bomb behind the scenes here. Jimin’s tweet about it here.  

Kookie was very excited that he got the chance to be center the entire perfomance and he did a tremendous job, yet lets just say what he received from the fandom was far from nice. People started calling him “selfish”, “arrogant”, they tweeted how he should leave the band, OT6 tweets were everywhere. There were mean hashtags trending how BTS will be better without JK.. a complete mess. And all because he was happy to be at the spotlight the entire time once.Just once. How would this people support him in his solo projects if this was their reaction to one performance. It’s no suprise he left twitter after that and was radio silent for half an year. He rightfully decided he didn’t need that type of negativity in his life and I can’t say I don’t understand him. Everyone should be thankful to Jimin for feeding us pictures and videos of him otherwise we would have died from starvation. 

So you see, Anon, he is far from oblivious to the hate.

When it comes to ships and ship wars it’s a little different:

Do the members know about ships? Absolutely. Most likely from the get go. This is common in kpop and it’s something that is used and promoted to gain popularity so of course they know. Also, they see comments saying “Jikook” or “T*ekook” everywhere - in the youtube comments, under their tweets, in the vlive comments, so they know. In fact how could they not know when people keep bringing ships up to them at fansigns for example? 

Do they know about the ship wars? Yes for all, maybe to a different extent. At the very least when they scroll through the comments under vlives they see people saying “Where’s ta*kook”, “I don’t like Jikook”, “Bring t**kook” and etc. Such comments Jimin and Jungkook for sure saw in their last vlive together when they were scrolling though them at the beginning of the video. We can safely conclude that they know there’s separation in the fandom between the the main Min and Kook ships (you know which ones). 

To what extent do they know? Debatable. We know Jimin monitors twitter and fan cafe a lot, he has said so himself. He must have seen the many many comments there about the ships even if a lot of them are in English. Jimin has also notoriously shut people up a few times when it comes to ships with his tweets so he must know. 

Does JK monitor twitter? Probably yes to a lot smaller extent. Even if not, we can guess he knows from Jimin with which he is very close and apparently has no secrets from. Also, I assume he read at least people’s reactions to GCFo which sparked some shipping controversery on it’s own. 

Do they care about ship wars?  I would guess they care more about the state of the fandom than the hype every little thing gets but I believe from time to time they care if people are being particularly mean (as with the recent Jimin hate). 

Do they act in certain ways because of ships? Well, they as well as the company know we like certain pairing more than others which influences photoshoots arrangements and such. Also fan service is still a thing even though BTS fan service is largely very genuine. If needs be (like at musters) they amp up the skinship but they care a lot about each othe rand are very close so nothing is “fake” just amplified. 

What I mean with this long ass answer is that the boys know probably about everything - the ships, the reactions to them, the hate. They know. Even if they didn’t know about the “problematic side”, after the recent Jimin and Jin hate incident they must know for sure now. So there’s no need to wish for JK to see the hate as he is probably well aware of it currently. Once upon a time, when he was younger, he genuinely didn’t know people thought he hated Jimin, hence why he was so offended when asked if he really liked him. After that I believe he made sure to inform himself what that “hate JM” issue is and haven’t been that oblivious ever since.

There’s also no wondering how Jungkook will react to the hate towards Jimin. JK can’t stand seeing any of his hyungs getting hurt, let alone Jimin, let alone because of himself. He is always silent when people are teasing his “Jimin-ssi”, he’s the first to defend him even from his own bandmates, he made a whole ass video about him to the song “There for you”. It’s no news: Kookie would be pretty distraught to see Jimin’s name through the mud especially because of something he did. He would probably feel very bad and guilty.

I really don’t want that. In fact I don’t get why anyone would want that. Is it because you’re wondering about JK’s reaction? Becase there’s no need, we can safely guess he would be very unhappy. If you kind of want him to see the hate as a sort of “punishment” for his wrongdoing (I doubt that’s the case) then I think that’s going overboard as there’s no need for a “punishment” to begin with. JK didn’t do anything wrong. Even if he seriously meant it that Jimin’s not the main model, it’s his right and it’s not that big of a deal. No-one even claimed that Jimin should be the main one in the first place, I for one would understand and find it completely normal if Jungkook’s work doesn’t include Jimin every time. So, basically JK did nothing  to be punished for. Sure, if he was teasing maybe he could have worded himself better and Jimin didn’t seem very happy but it’s not like Jungkook can monitor every single little thing he says or does all the time.

It’s not his fault that the fandom can take even the littlest things and turn them into a sh*t storm nor is it his responsibiltiy to always predict and prevent everything. 

Even if we assume JK did or potentially one day does something downright unjistice or hurtful to Jimin, it is still not our place to meddle or want him punished. By now they for sure know how to settle conflicts so even if JK hurts Jimin’s feeling (or vice versa) it is between them to deal with it in whatever way they find fitting. We are merely observers, we don’t have the right to dictate their behaviour. 

Which leads me to my last point: if perhaps you wished JK to see the hate in order for him to change his behaviour, I find that a little problematic. Firstly, because as I said he didn’t do anything wrong and basically never does anything to hurt Jimin in pulic let alone intentionally. Secondly, because it is not our place to wish how they should be towards each other. We get what we can, we don’t make demands. Third and most important: I don’t want Jungkook to think he can’t be himself because of what people might say. Sure, he should be respectful but that he already is. Once upon a time he was confused people thought he hated Jimin and since then he made sure to change how he acted in front of the cameras: he no longer pushes Jimin away or puts him in last place in looks. Jungkook did his homework and corrected himself, even though even back than anyone with eyes could see he cared a lot for his hyung. Now he is so gentle and thoughtful. One can say he even tries to prevent problems by always choosing Jimin for everything when he has the chance, always staying near his side, sitting next to him. He is careful both in words and actions and I believe he is that away not just in front of the cameras but privately as well. 

He doesn’t need “corrections” because the problem is not with him. It’s with the fandom.

I’d hate for him to think he can’t tease Jimin (or his other hyungs), be honest about something with us or have interactions/take pictures/hug/laugh with Tae (or another member) because of what people might say. Having to monitor every single little thing JK (or any of the other members) does or says takes away from the relationship the group has with the fans. It also puts extra stress on them to be careful, further disconnects them from ARMY and contributes to them feeling like wearing a mask. 

I don’t want Jungkook or Jimin or any of Bangtan to have to feel the neccesity to change how they act and how they present themselves in front of us, especially because of hateful comments and toxic shipping. They are already concerned with their image enough as it is, they don’t need to worry about it any more. It’s us that should change. The fandom should stop overreacting over every little thing, shippers should stop hating on a member because he “comes between their ship”, people should stop being hateful and mean to the members in general. 

It’s the people who write rude and hurtful comments that should feel bad and not Jungkook reading them because he is plenty considerate, nice and genuine as it is.

rip, okay, once again i apologize about this one being even later, mostly bc i saw it early, but i haven't been able to sit down and respond to it. this week was the last week of the month so i actually had a lot to do at work and was able to go in every day (as opposed to 1 - 2 days bc business is still so slow). but at the end of the month i do invoicing for inventory charges for that month for each customer. though i was able to actually get a lot of it done sooner than usual (bc i actually started the process on tuesday instead of thursday), there were still three big ones i couldn't even do until thursday bc they had several orders in production that didn't get shipped until thursday. I mean I already shipped bc of the their last event, how can you not ship the guy screaming he's going to kill the protag w/the protag esp after getting punched in the face by the protag at the end makes him calm down and be like fine i guess you win i'm not going to try to kill you know and our gangs don't have to fight. also they're both like 16 (or at least tsubasa is canon 16 (a yeas totally looks like a 16 year old) and sho is at least still in school and at least confirmed to be a minor (not age of majority, which idk what that is exactly in universe, could be 18, could be 20, bc it is fantasy, but it's also japanese, thoguh japan's age of majority is actually lowering from 20 to 18 next april (2022), drinking/smoking/gambling age will still be 20, and the comment in this event was about we're still minors save the smoking for when you're an adult). sho could arguably be 18 or 19 and still believably in school and be considered a minor legally (if in universe gbf follows japanese laws) considering the time he spent in juvie he could easily have been held back. gbf will probably just make him tsubasa's age if a canon age is release. but thinking about sho being 19 and tsubasa being 16 would make some ppl upset and that brings me joy. (also just how funny it could be thinking about (bc everyone is perpetually the same age) how later when sho a year older and legally being able to drink, and tsubasa not, and despite the fact sho being like i will break the laws about physically assaulting a guy but underage drinking, smoking, and drugs is a no-no is fucking hilarious. (the app is rated t so i guess there's only so much you can do…) (oh and one last note, a character in the event asking if sho enjoys the pain and is a masochist, to have other character be like dude you can't just ask someone that. sho saying no he doesn't enjoy the pain. only for later when they are escaping, a character noting "You look rather happy about all this. oh god worry about ppl like that in ina like, there really people out there who don't want you shipping ficitional children?????? and the main ina cast is roughly between 12-15. and got i started watching ina in 2013 when i was 19. which apparently for some people is like bad uwu because it's a show for young teenagers (like lol too bad i'm 27 and even though i haven't kept up with aries i still love ina and all the little babies and wont stop shipping). i didn't even know there was people out there who get UPSET AT AGING UP??? like wtf???? sorry i want them to be old enough to marry, adopt children, have a job, and also f.uck. the dpk au is my lifeblood (and has a lot of Problematic™ content that's never even been posted online anywhere bc it used to be an rp. my favorite is that out of all the relationships in the au, tenma and kyousuke's is probably the most unhealthy bc of kyousuke's mental health. some very bad things happened to fei (per request of my rp partner) (part of vanfeny and garsha's revenge on saru as they were sent to megun while saru walks around ''free'' (what exactly is free is a whole other lore mess in itself that i wrote up about post chrono stone future). and that just lead to more bad things fei then did to himself. problematic™ content 9492347 in the dpk au, shipping ozrock and lalaya. (even worse, bc of lore planning i did for the au and decided how their species worked, lalaya is about 6.5 cycles (faram obius years) or roughly 130 earth years and biologically similar to 13 year earth years, and ozrock is about 48 Ixal years roughly 48 earth years and biologically similar to 24 earth years. so like even a worse ship. i mean just ignore cultural norms would be different on an alien planet and also she's royalty and has an obligation to be wed even younger and is probably socially more mature than a human 13 year old. rip sorry i just like alien stuff. a lot of this was also because wouldn't it be great for lalaya to have a really long lifespan so the human friends she makes get older faster and also die way before her :) ina's gunna hurt me with the bug aliens then i'm going to… continue to hurt myself with more alien life span stuff.)

Anyways, With TenKyou, idk I think it's easy to paint tenma as the innocent ~pure baby~ and kyousuke as ~bad boy~ bc of the first inago… and seed kyousuke was a little bastard man (affectionate). which would idk explain the default to kyouten. but like kyousuke chills the hell out in chrono stone and galaxy. and just bc tenma is a dumbass with a heart of gold obsessed with soccer doesn't necessarily mean he's has to be ~innocent baby 受け~ trope. (not that these are the only tropes that decide) (maybe it's bc i sort of like messing with what it must be like to be the main protagonists best friend and watch him continue to overcome everything and be in the spot light and how everyone praises him. kyousuke with self-esteem issues, looking back at all the problems he's caused, tenma has flaws but they're either negligible or something to love about him and mine have only hurt others. disregarding his own goddamn plot armor in the past. complex, emotional, suffering kyousuke is how i like my kyousuke. need we even get into how god eden was canonically revealed to be physically/mentally abusing seeds and that whole can of worms) (also just "nervous baby i don't know how to approach tenma" kyousuke, "cheeky little shit doesn't have any regards to personal space and boundries" tenma) at least if anyone starts giving me shit about an ina ship or problematic fictional ina content, i can always respond with something i drew back in 2015.

back to the matter of new snap though… that line is so familiar (im pretty sure it's in the eng txt, i have it set to jpn audio tho). i recently started keeping a log of the messages that pop up on the camp, lab, and map screens (but haven't saved too many bc i get distracted or at least i know i'm missing quite a few i have vague memories of). (also idk why my first thought to that line was mirror responding with "That was because you were the one calling me that.") there actually were a couple messages i saved initially that would be useful for fic writing:

Todd: "The professor used to be kinda reckless back in the day. I suppose after 10 year he must've calmed down a bit."

and

Mirror: "Todd's calmed down since I last saw him. Or maybe he's just acting mature because you kids are around…"

possible implications from these that I'm deciding to consider for headcanons:

both reckless and wild in their early 20's but that's not unusual, so they were acting like reckless young adults when they were 20. makes sense.

because mirror mentions the last time i saw him (which is definitely implied not 10 years ago since todd had a research team pin so obviously he's been around a bit since the lab was established) meaning todd is potentially still a chaotic bastard but is just trying to act like an adult in front of the kids. beautiful.

and on that note another wonderful Tood message:

Todd: "I never invited Phil to be my pupil—he just declared himself my "number one student" and started tagging along! But honestly…I was kind of flattered."

the possibility that when todd showed up in game, after that cutscene he went to talk to mirror like "this 10 year old just started following me and wont go away, pls help. what do i do?????"

this unsupervised 10 year old just followed a ~30 year old man into the wilderness and somehow just declares todd is mentor (and took the research team pin from todd to ''borrow''). this is a hostage situation. todd is the hostage.

the idea that perhaps todd just got back from a long expedition and was glad to be back and spend time with mirror, except this kid started following him around and wont leave him alone or go away, and then when he got to the lab there were two more kids there. how the fuck am i supposed to get it on with mirror when we have little alone time and when we finally do we're constantly at risk of being interrupted and/or walked-in on. (that last part was mainly the premise of the fic i wanted to write. "these kids are a handful how are we supposed to have intimate time. especially bc they're all so young and have child energy levels and when they go to bed i am already fucking exhausted." i'm thinking it might work better as like a drabble collection, that way i don't have to adhere to a plot line and can pick and choose scenarios to write because i keep winding up with more scenario ideas that i can nearly piece together into a coherent timeline anymore.)

(also a bit that rita becomes suspicious that they are 100% fu.cking even though all that happened was mirror wasn't asleep up in his bed above the lab and fell asleep in one of the bungalows w/todd and then tried to cover it up like haha what no, i was checking on todd he's not feeling well uh… what? where are my pants? oh. oh i can't believe i just totally got out of bed and left the lab without my pants haha.) (todd and mirror just trying to keep their relationship a secrete out of fear of rumors spreading and it affecting the lab's funding, even though rumors definitely started ages ago but neither of them realize). (also todd doesn't trust phil to keep his mouth shut and doesn't like the optics of the random 10 year old who started following him (UNSUPERVISED) just blabbing to his parents about how his cool mentor is dating the professor at the lab like yikes that could end badly worst case scenario.)

(i like the idea of mirror playing along with todd's ki.nk, albeit a little awkward sometimes (not very good at being intentionally 'sexy' about it, but that's not what todd wants anyways bc it's already inherenty sexy for him). Phill has a message "I barely get half the stuff the professor talks about. Do you?" and i can only image if he said that to todd
