Hey hey hey, so I, and a lot of other people, have been getting comments about how saying Jughead is aromantic is homophobic? I prefer to have these kinds of discussions one-on-one, but I’m just going to give the blanket explanation that you can also find in my FAQ (but no one looks there before asking questions so obviously putting it right at the top of my blog was? The wrong place???)
I want to start off by saying I would never intentionally be homophobic, transphobic, racist, or anything along that vein. If I mess up, please dm me! I'm really just here to make positivity posts and talk about Jughead, I don't want to be a jerk, however unintentional.
However, if your complaint is that I'm writing about Jughead being aromantic, please don't bother. I don't go around leaving rude comments on posts about gay Jughead, and I would appreciate if people who consider Jughead to be gay would do the same for people posting about him being aromantic. If you really need to talk to someone about it, please dm me, but leave other aromantic Jughead blog posts alone, especially if all they're doing is talking about how glad they are to have representation. They don't need anyone raining on their parade.
Jughead being gay is a headcanon. Jughead being aromantic is canon in the current New Riverdale line of Archie Comics. Feel free to continue shipping Jughead, and headcanoning him as gay. I'm sure one can easily look at the older Archie Comics and find evidence for Jughead being gay, but they can just as easily find evidence for him being aromantic. In this particular case, the older comics versions of Jughead are both gay-coded AND aro-coded. Lacking attraction to females, as a male, is not exclusive to gay men. Really, we shouldn't be having any problems with this! People who see him as gay can make their posts, and people who see him as aro can also make posts, there shouldn't be any overlap. I haven't seen any harassment from the aro side of this, though that might just be that I've only been associating with wonderful people (that means you, followers!) BUT they shouldn't be harassing people who headcanon Jughead as gay, either.
Now, to this you may say "but so-and-so made a post about how angry they are that people ship Jughead! And you reblogged it!!" Well, yeah. That is their blog, they can say what they want, and this is my blog, where I post things that I like or agree with. The people making these posts aren't @ ing you, or sending it to people. They're venting. Because we don't have much representation in the media, and Jughead is a really, really good aroace character. Sometimes it hurts to see that people don't want him to be aromantic, or even asexual. They don’t mean to target anyone? They’re just complaining  to themselves and their followers. I’ve seen some really cute Jughead ship art and fanfics. I don’t hate the people who ship Jughead or say that he’s gay! I have no reason to. I just have a major problem with people being rude online because someone made a post that didn’t conform to their headcanon.
TLDR: Please leave the art and the vent posts alone. I'm saying this to everyone. There is no reason for us to be against each other, or for this to even be discourse. DM me if you want to talk, but no one needs to add negative comments to harmless posts.
