My parents are also from La Paz, grounding me deeply in its unique blend of history and tradition; growing up in a Villa (Villa Armonia, San Isidro Bajo), I loved going to the nearest tiendita for candy, to misa with my grandma pa bendecir al niño, knowing all the neighbors' kids, and playing with my cousins who lived super close. We are a very close large family, so we grew up with family parties, picnics, and travels. My roots extend further into the highlands, as my grandparents migrated from the Quechua and Aymara-speaking towns of Aucapata, Mecapaca, and Caracato, where as a kid I got to explore their mountains for fossils, played and fell in their rivers, picked fresh fruit, learned great survival skills, danced Morenada with the adults in the plazas during presets and shared delicious food with people from other towns. These connections have deeply influenced who I am today.

Growing up, I was immersed in the diverse cultural practices of the urban La Paz and the mixed indigenous heritages of my grandparents. This blend of city life and ancestral traditions instilled in me a profound respect for Bolivia's multicultural identity, the love and protection of its natural areas and animals, and the support and service of its people.

As I moved to the US when I was a teen along with my hard working single-divorced mother, my childhood and genetic ADHD influenced future choices. My love for rocks and animals became a love for science in general. After graduating high school I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Neurobiology and Physiology at University of Maryland and went back to earn my Master's degree in Biochemistry. After a few years working in the lab and the medical field, I decided to combine my passions for science, research, and education, and I transitioned to teaching middle and high school science. What started as a need to continue learning science became a passion to bridge the gap between scientific exploration and academic advancement for my students. I wanted to make sure that they understood the interconnections between science (microbiology, chemistry, neurophysiology), their bodies, and the entire world and universe they lived in. I made my classes as interactive and open as possible, fostering their curiosity and motivation through initiatives such as Science Club, collaborating with NASA members, and establishing MakerSpace Stations with the support of my beloved principal Mrs. Durney and NIH.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to fostering STEM educational empowerment, promoting diversity and inclusion, and advocating for fair treatment and representation of the Latinx and Bolivian community. Currently, I serve as the LOFT Program Coordinator, Navegando Tu Futuro Académico y Profesional Program Lead, and IBM SkillsBuild Partner Lead at the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, where I play a pivotal role in supporting our Latinx community with free academic and professional programs and opportunities. In 2019, amidst the devastating Amazon and Chiquitania Forest fires, my great friend Lizzett Uria and I founded TSB to support volunteer firefighters, animal refugees, and affected communities across Bolivia. Our organization continues to advocate for the protection and conservation of Bolivian forests, while also championing the rights of humans and animals affected by yearly man-made and climate change worsened fires and other catastrophes. We provide support and raise awareness through various media platforms, ensuring that needed help is provided to the forest rangers and firefighters mitigating protected forest areas and at the same time that these critical issues reach the public eye without bias. TSB supports firefighters, wild animal refugees, and local communities during the mitigation of these fires that devastate the Amazon and Chiquitania Forests during the driest months. Additionally, TSB extends its mission of care and support by providing essential supplies such as food, milk, rice, and toys to children's orphanages, elderly homes, and dog shelters throughout the Bolivian nation.

Finally, as a means to support family with their celebrations, I started creating a few little decorations and gifts and that ended up becoming my small company called Alba Designs LLC. What started during a baby shower with regalitos de plantitas, became a personalized merchandise store. I have been able to make special things for family, work with the general public, companies, organizations, public and private schools, and even help celebrate and honor Bolivian artists collaborating with the Foundation for Bolivian Artists, TRES MINUTOS Music Band, and the Oretea Brothers from Duende Camaron and MCO Guitars.
