Okay well first off while you're entitled to your thoughts y'all CANNOT say they "ruined" a character when this is literally their first full story. These are the first canon interactions they've ever had, the story is setting up their characterization from, essentially, the ground up!

Secondly about the writing, take it from an AlkaloidP clinging to their earlier stories for dear life right now, the yandere trope is NOT a new thing for this series and is not a particular indicator of the "writing decline" seen in the last climaxes imo. Did we forget about ! era (and !! era too lets be honest here they're still insane) Rtmo & Izmk? You wanna talk crazy, let's talk about Izumi threatening to throw Makoto, Anzu, and himself off the school roof bc of a confession joke lmao. This particular change is more of a return to the status quo than anything. How you feel about that is up to you (2015 Enstars stories were...very cringe a lot of the time asdfghjkl but they also had some good stuff obv so), but the good thing about 4Piece imo is that they can't as easily mess up their writing compared to others chars since they are building the consistency as they go rather than trying to adhere to years of it!

This is not me telling you how to feel about the story btw, I think it's got some good and bad parts so far personally! Just thought I'd put my thoughts out there.

No haters, everyone likes them

I've never seen anyone ever talk bad about these characters. For a good reason. They're either the greenest of green flags (ADONIS!!) or they're just characters who you could never hate because of their personality and interactions with the other characters

Has a large fanbase to the point that they're probably considered overrated

Self explanatory. Both Sakumas have a large fanbase. Rei is literally the engstars PR teams' favorite guy because they put him in so many situations in their ads, same with Mika too apparently. Also *gestures to the Fistfight Incident*

Has a large amount of fans

Has a big fanbase, but not enough to be overrated. Has the potential tho. Kaoru probably going to join Rei up there at some point...

Has a decent amount of fans

People talk about them, but not as much

Carried by their ship

Sigh. Sadly both Mao and Makoto are carried by their ships. Some people only like them because of ritsumao and izumako (izmk leaves a bitter taste in my mouth). Also Tsumugi with ntmg and Niki with rinniki. I mean, there are probably Mao/Makoto/Tsumugi/Niki fans that like them without the shipping, but they're rare :/

Barely anyone talks about them

LITERALLY. The only people you'd find talking about them are the ones who produce them, and that's not exactly many. Also Anzu deserves more credit

The fandom has varying opinions about them

A part of the fandom like them, the other doesn't and some don't even care. Most applicable to Eichi and Rinne (I say this as a former Eichi disliker). Some think mayoi is a creepy weirdo, some think that Tori is a spoiled little kid without any character development and so on and so forth

the what in your server. you should mute them all and establish urself as the king, its ur server and u can do whatever u want like make a channel dedicated to posting picture of amoeba izumi (<- i approve)

the burning of alexandria sucks bc now we have interpretations of characters through 1. word of mouth 2. enstars memes 3. !! era stories. these all lowered the average media literacy lvl to below the earths core.

i am definitely on ur side even if i dont have much context for this ask. theyre doing a lot better now, izumi can still be a lil weirdo but its definitely not as bad as it used to be. most importantly, makoto trusts him more now and isnt prone to running away which i think is an extremely positive thing in his own character development and in their dynamic!!

and dont get me wrong early interactions btw the two were ungodly terrible, izumis actions were comically evil and akira was so clearly gunning for a certain dynamic btw the two that were still feeling the negative effects of, but it rlly annoys me like no other when ppl disregard leos importance in their dynamic bc while it is a dependency born from a combination from early relationships w him and his parents, it was leos disappearance that further strengthened that need for control and fueled izumi mistaken idea that he can "protect" makoto like he failed w leo. this is part of why izuleo bodies the competition. the rest is that they have synced menstrual cycles.

and this is not counting that recent story where akira decided "fuck this character development" and justified every izumi action by saying he was jet lagged and tired... but anyways. i do hate when ppl view izmk as a funny lil joke, it pisses me off bc izumi is still learning to recognize makoto as a person instead of an object that he can be possessive over.... im sorry i made this my ranting place. you should make roles in ur server labeled "you receive a gummy worm" and "you do not".

idrc about romantic izmk but when people are like izumakos dni i still just keep my distance because like. i don't /dislike/ them romantically either and also i feel like if you're the type of person who wants to put that on your dni then you probably don't have a very good take on their relationship as a whole, whether romantically or not. and i simply don't wanna interact with you either at that point
