hello Tumblr. Do you like paper models of geometric shapes? Do you like pictures of works-in-progress? Do you like fictional minerals? Do you want to buy this? Let me know by liking, reblogging, and sending me asks.
This is a prototype shape: the first time I'd attached these 20 points onto a base icosidodecahedron. I went with a basic palette of three shades of purple.

Rose Unit, Tomoko Fuse || 60 units (3.75 x 7.50, 1:2) Instructions in Tomoko Fuse’s みんなで楽しむ多面体おりがみ
last time i folded it i got the angle wrong. this time the paper is a bit too thick so some of the layers sit ever so slightly off the paper and create shadows in some of the places where the yellow normally connects

Snub Dodecahedron

Today I finished the drawing of the Snub dodecahedron in isometric projection.
For drawing a snub dodecahedron I started to draw a dodecahedron. Then I altered it into an isocidodecahedron. Then I turned it into a truncated icosidodecahedron. And then, finally, after all these steps I could make the snub dodecahedron from this.
- - -- ---
Here are the mentioned shapes (I already drew as well):

(a few lines are missing in that last scanned img of the truncated icosidodeca. i want to make better digital img files of my shapes soon. )

An Augmented Icosidodecahedron
You can’t see the icosidodecahedron here, for it is hidden in the center. Each of its triangular faces is augmented with an icosahedron, and each of its pentagonal faces is augmented with a dodecahedron. Software credit: see http://www.software3d.com/stella.php (free trial download available).

they should make sequels to the gamecube. gamecylinder. gamepyramid. game hexagonal prism. anyway you play any good games lately
SO true. i need my game icosidodecahedron immediately.
to answer the second thing: ngl to you i have been OBSESSED with minecraft lately. i dont even have it atm but i am thinking about it 24/7. i spent all thanksgiving break on a realm with my siblings and my bfs, but i was playing on my moms account and couldnt figure out how to get it onto my laptop. ever since i have been planning and scheming for my return.. (and also watching hermitcraft)

feels like there's a rich vein of unexplored woo you could attach to stellation of polyhedra, as, like, a vehicle for the expression of mystical processes. i'm surprised it's something the ancient greeks didn't invent. they liked to overload geometry with weird metaphysical shit. and the way unassuming solid shapes turn into these visually complex, lacy, crystalline forms when you apply a pretty simple mathematical process is redolent of... something. i don't know what.
#like the pentagram is the most basic and boring stellation there is#you can do so much better!#make the symbol of the devil the last of the 7071672 enantiomorphous stellations of the icosidodecahedron!#make it a complicated stellation of a higher dimensional polytope no sane mind can percieve!

Polyhedron of the Day #233: Pentagonal orthobirotunda
The pentagonal orthobirotunda is a Johnson solid (J34). It has 32 faces (20 triangles, 12 pentagons), 60 edges, and 30 vertices. Its Bowers-style acronym is pobro. It can be constructed by attaching two pentagonal rotundae at their decagonal bases, with like faces meeting. Rotating one of these rotundae by 36° yields the icosidodecahedron. Its dual is the trapezo-rhombic triacontahedron.

[Image ID: Two versions of a five stripe flag with two thicker outer stripes, and the middle stripe being the thickest. The middle stripe is divided into two halves by a jagged bright pinkish red line. The colors from top to bottom go dark blue, teal, pale blue, light hot pink, dark reddish pink, dark red. The first version has a bright pinkish red circle in the middle with a dark purple, circle-like shape with triangular faces. /End ID]
Name: TERMINATIONATTEMPTadic / 6820adic
A gender related to SCP-6820, or "TERMINATION ATTEMPT". Part of the ADMONITION series, so it uses the -adic suffix and flag template.
Flag colors inspired by (and some picked from) the 6820 page. Flag symbol traced over this Pentakis icosidodecahedron, which I think is the shape of 6820 Section A.
Tagging @radiomogai and @eparchclass because SCP!
Coined for day 3 of @anomaluary, prompt: A reality bender SCP

Two Views of a Paper Model of an Icosidodecahedron
I’m sure I’ll get back to virtual polyhedra soon enough, but, in the meantime, enjoy this icosidodecahedron made using the traditional Euclidean tools, plus scissors, card stock, and tape. No computers were used to make this polyhedron.
