First Shave

Was originally going to be a comic, but I figured a fic would be easier...

When Oliver woke up, he didn't feel different at all. The day carried on like normal - he got up, he got dressed, and he was starting to head for the bathroom. When he walked by the mirror, he stopped dead in his tracks before realizing what he saw was himself.

Along the curve of his jaw and under his lip, patchy black lines had started to form where his first beard was starting to come in. In awe, he ran his hand along and felt the bumpy surface, confirming it was real and he wasn't still dreaming. He clicked his tongue, as excited as he was about it, the hair was patchy and uneven. There was no way this was going to grow into a nice beard, but still... The fact that it grew in at all was amazing.

His excitement quickly died down as he realized something... unfortunate. He didn't have a razor, which meant he was going to have to brave the dining hall where majority of the members of Crown would be gathered for breakfast. Would they be happy for him too? Indifferent?

Oliver's heart was pounding in his chest as he tried to carry on with his morning routine, but his eyes kept drifting back to the hairs on his chin.

Soon it was time to brave the dining hall. He took a deep breath and walked in, trying to act like nothing had changed and that everything was business as usual, but that act fell apart the moment everyone's eyes were on him.

"Wow!" Liam chirped, being the first to break the silence. "Roger's treatment worked well, huh?"

Jude scoffed. "You're not keeping that, right?" He asked. "It's growing in all weird."

"Well, would you look at that." Roger said as he motioned for Oliver to come over. He did comply and Roger grabbed his chin to turn his head, giving a low whistle. "Jude's right though, if you want an actual beard, you're gonna have to shave that off and try again."

"I mean, I would like to have one at some point, it's just..." Oliver trailed off. Liam then perked up.

"Oh, right, you didn't have any use for a razor prior, uh?" He asked. "Well, sounds like you need one now."

"Yeah, I guess I'll have to look into one." Oliver sighed. For now, he would sit down and join them for breakfast. Not much was said about his facial hair after that.

As the day went on, Oliver found himself bouncing from task to task. First, Victor (after doting on Oliver's facial hair for a brief moment and congratulating him on another milestone reached in his transition) needed some packages picked up. Oliver thought he could go shopping while he was out, but one thing lead to another and he found himself helping Jude out at the docks.

After that, it was time to go back to the forest to clear his traps to make sure there was nothing left to the wild animals there and he was short some good furs. After the traps were reset and cleared up, he had to take care of what he did find to make sure the furs were good to sell.

Of course, then there was the meat from those hunts, and Oliver hated to see good meat go to waste. Some went back to the castle, the rest he was able to give off to others who needed the meat more.

By the time he made his back to the castle, it was already dusk. Mentally cursing himself for not shopping while he was out, Oliver retired to his room. As he opened the door, he noticed that there was a package on his bed. He tilted his head as he approached to pick it up.

The package was tied neatly in a simple cloth that was easily undone. Inside was a box that Oliver opened. He could see a razor, some shaving cream, some facial towels, but there was no note nor anything else to indicate who left it. He glanced around just in case it was Liam and he was just invisible, waiting for Oliver to find the gift before showing himself, but no, there was nobody.

"Huh." He said before setting the gift down on his nightstand. Strange, maybe he would figure out who left it tomorrow.

The next day he joined everyone again at the dining hall, but as their meal ended, he approached Roger. Roger glanced up at him with a curious look, but allowed Oliver to speak first. "Hey," he said, "do you know how left the razor in my room?"

"First I'm hearing of it, lad." Roger said with a shrug. "I have my guesses as to who would do that, but I don't know for sure."

"Oh, I thought maybe..." No, this wasn't something Roger would do, would it? "Never mind."

Roger just shrugged, allowing the moment to pass. "Do you even know how to use a razor?" He asked Oliver, who shook his head. "Well, I'm due for a shave as well." He said as he ran his hand along his chin. Oliver could hear how the hair scratched against his hand. "How about you come with me and I can show you some tricks so I don't have to patch you up later?"

"I'd like that actually." Oliver said. "Meet you in your bathroom?"

"See you there."

Oliver arrived first with the gift he received. He laid it on the counter space as he waited for Roger to arrive. Strange, why did he feel nervous about this? His head flicked towards the door as it opened and Roger walked in.

"Ah, good, you did show up." Roger moved to pull his supplies out as well before he plugged and filled the sink. "Now, you're going to follow my steps, alright, lad?"

Oliver watched as Roger rinsed his face, applied his cream, and started to shave. He mirrored exactly what he saw and began to shave along side him. It was soothing in a way. There was something thrilling about how mundane this all was. It was just a part of his life now. As Oliver thought about that, he ended up stopping.

Roger paused as well to glance over. "You alright? Did you nick yourself?" He asked. Oliver gasped before continued.

"No, I'm just... I think I'm happy." He said in a more quiet voice. Roger had to laugh. Of course Oliver was happy, this was a huge step for him.

"The novelty will wear off soon enough." He reassured. "But hey, we're all happy for you. You looked scared yesterday, but after breakfast, you started to hold your head up a little higher."

"Did I...?" Oliver asked. "Huh, didn't notice."

"Yep, it's true, you can ask anyone about it. Now, focus on your shave there, you're not used it and you don't want to walk around with half of your face bandaged, right?"

With his face freshly shaven, Oliver made his way to the library. There were some books he wanted to grab. William had spoken to him about the prospect of going back to school and suggested some topics for him to look into for something that caught his eye. It was time to put some hours into research.

As he entered, he could see it was just Jude who was there. He looked up from the book he was reading before closing it. "Ah, much better." He said. "I see you used that gift, huh?"

Oliver stopped dead. "It was you?" He asked. "Why?"

"I told you, that beard looked like shit. I'm doing you a favor helping you shave it back for now. Don't worry, we can talk payment later." There was that usual smirk on his face as Oliver shook his head.

"Regardless, thanks, Jude."

"Oi, oi, didn't you hear me? It was because I didn't want to see that patchy look. The hell are you thanking me for?" Jude scoffed. "Ah, right, I forgot how you work." Oliver snickered. "Well, don't worry, the next time you see me with a beard, it'll be full and even."

Jude rolled his eyes. "Do what you want." He then left Oliver alone to his studies. Oliver couldn't help but smile as he worked. Even Jude seemed to find his own ways to support him, and that made him feel even happier.

I had no idea Ikemen Revolution was discontinued. That’s such a shame. I would’ve loved to see how the MC met Dean (he’s a rouge one for me).

I really want to read Ikemen Villains and Gen. Because apparently the MC in Gen is actually the best amongst all the Ikemen universes. Hopefully someone has translations for these.

Not at all a problem!

IkeRev's recent and last route was for Dum, but both his and Zero's route contain a fairly decent amount of content involving Dean. Zero's route also contains a little bit of content for Mousse as well as Oliver's. However it's still depressing that we won't get content for Mousse, Dean, or Blanc now because of the direction Cybird chose to take for IkeRev.

I personally would have loved to see what direction they would have gone for Dean myself. But alas, it'll never be.

As for IkeVil and IkeGen, I believe @archiveikemen has a fairly decent amount of things translated for IkeGen, there's a fair amount there, so I'd wander over there. They also have a few things translated out for IkeVil as well, same with @otomefiend. So I recommend taking a look at their wares for both!

And yes! IkeGen's MC (or Yoshino) is one of the better built MCs that Cybird has going currently, as she's rather well rounded and fairly realistic with the things she's been pulled into. (though in my heart, all the MCs are #1 but that's because I'm Bi and Bias)

I appreciate it all the same! So thank you so much for listening to me ramble about here and there on some things. Obviously I'm in no way an expert, but I do what I can with the time I'm able to lay out.

I've been thinking, how old is Ellis? Is he a teen? When IkeVil says that it's going to corrupt us, does that mean that we will go to jail for flirting with a minor?😱

I don't think I've seen any indication that Ellis is a teenager - he is referred to as a young man but outside of some questionable themes (Oliver and Ibuki and their 'kid' forms) I wouldn't say that youthful suitors is really Cybird's thing.

I would definitely assume Ellis is the youngest of the Ikevil suitors, but by no means would I believe him to be a minor. Rest assured Nonny. 💕

Oliver Hawkins

A young man who has Baba Yaga's Curse. He used to live out in the woods before he was picked up by Jude Jazza. The two of them seem to have a strange history together. He is a huntsman by trade and prefers to keep to himself.

Curse: Baga Yaga's Curse or Crone's Curse

Benefits: Allows for the ability to enter deals with individuals where Oliver is able to grant a single wish. However, these deals are known to backfire and become backhanded. For example, a girl wished to never see her family again. A day later, she lost her vision.

Cons: Oliver requires human flesh to live. Without consuming this, he begins to grow weak and wither away. He is capable of eating meat raw without much consequences, but he is unable to handle a lot of different foods without getting sick as well. Roger has likened his stomach to a dog's with the way it handles food.

Background: Oliver came from a noble family and was their only sickly daughter at the time. They took on an attendant, Aurora ( @loverscreation ), who was able to help Oliver recover well enough to begin looking at his prospects of marriage.

At a ball, he ended up meeting both William, who he was instantly smitten with, and his would-be fiancé, Felix Bauer. Bauer managed to anger Oliver by asking invasive and degrading questions about how he would be as a wife, so in retaliation, he bit his ear off. Afterwards, Oliver was locked away as the Hawkins and the Bauers fell into a strange feud. Oliver, meanwhile, begin to have some revelations about himself and how delicious his little bite was.

Partially to be rid of Oliver and the shame he brought, partially to patch over this fued, Oliver was betrothed to Felix. However, unsatisfied with this arrangement, he ended up meeting a shady man who agreed to help him out if Oliver did a favor for him in return one day. He agreed.

Oliver then lured Felix in, killed him, and ate part of him before he managed to carry out disposing of the body. With Jude's help, he then fled and began to live in the woods.

There he was taken in by a huntsman who began to show him the craft. Once Oliver felt he was confident enough, he helped himself to the huntsman and took over his gear and his home out in the woods. He began to help strangers he would find out there and his reputation grew as a witch of the woods who could do miracles.

Of course, some did work out well, but many more resulted in folks worse off than before. But this didn't bother Oliver any. After all, if they decided to attack, then he was just defending himself.

Of course, after a bit people began to notice folks weren't coming back and Crown caught wind of him. He was brought in as a more extreme curse for Roger to study and he's been working with them since.

The cane serves a practical use of helping Oliver around when joint issues flair up. Meals aren't super consistent for him, so sometimes he just has to figure out how to keep working.

There is a deal with a hospital that unclaimed patients go to Oliver. He isn't thrilled by this as some bodies aren't too edible, but hey, better than nothing he supposes.

Rather close to Liam, actually. The two weirdly click in the roleplay he is from. When he isn't arguing with Jude, he rather enjoys working for him.

Embarrassed to high hell about his old crush on William. He did indeed send him a love letter prior to running away. William kept it.

He couldn't tell you when exactly he started to live more as a man. He doesn't fully consider himself one, but he prefers it vastly to living as a woman. Oliver was the name he gave Jude when they started working together. It stuck.

He thinks Roger is very handsome, but has bad experiences with doctors, so he's also... pretty scary to Ollie.

Enjoys cute things. Has a few stuffed animals on his bed and likes to make them. He also crochets as a hobby as it helps pass the time. So far he's made a blanket for Jude and he's working on something for Liam next.

Flower guy, loves to see them, loves to grow them.

Decent chef! Likes cooking for others.

No OC offered, so I will be working with IkeVil Oliver.

⭐ - What do people assume about your OC? Do they question the quality of their character? 

It really depends on if you know Oliver as a huntsman or as a cursed individual.

If you only know Oliver through his professional appearances, then you would assume he was a rather upstanding man. He's always on time, he delivers the best pelts he can, he is very polite and to the point. He doesn't dwell on unnecessary topics as, well, we're both just here for business, yes? Let's get on with it.

If you know Oliver's curse at the very least, then you'd think he's a mad dog. He is not a nice opponent to go up against as he is not above dirty tricks and using whatever advantages he can get as he is often smaller than his opponents a decent bit weaker. Not to mention there is the fact that he seems to be looking at everyone ravenously... Despite this, he is in control of himself, he's only acting a persona at that point to get his work done.

🌠 - What is your OC’s greatest desire and how far are they willing to go to obtain it? 

Before Crown, Oliver didn't really think of much beyond survival. It was day to day for him with clients mixed in somewhere between his meals and his work.

Since he now has more free time and less to do, he has been thinking more about what he wants. He knows he doesn't want to work for Jude forever, and perhaps being a huntsman is not something he wants to do either. So what can he do? He used to be a noblewoman and he hated that, so he doesn't want to go back.

At the moment, he's exploring options and trying to figure out who he is beyond his past and his curse. The likely answer is that he would like to go to school, as that was not afforded to him previously. He would likely get really into a field of study and wish to share that with others.

But as for his work with Crown, he has a chance to hurt some truly awful people. He doesn't care for the royal family, or for the Empire much in general, but he found a way to keep himself fed and to make sure those that prey upon the weak have a boogeyman to watch out for. If William is a poison to those who abuse power, Oliver is the pair of hungry teeth ready to pounce and devour them whole. He can enjoy that kind of work.

No specified character, so I'll go with my IkeVil self insert again since that one has the braincell. And dw, no one has asked these at all. ^_^

🍎 RED APPLE — where was your oc born? do they still live in/around their place of birth or do they live somewhere else? how do they feel about their birthplace?

Oliver was indeed born in the London area, so he didn't go very far at all! He's been there his entire life and while he would love to explore more, his work with Crown makes that a little troublesome. There are a lot of memories tied to that place, and not all of them good, but it's still home, he supposes.

😞 DISAPPOINTED FACE — does your oc attract others, or do they tend to be left alone?

Oliver tends to be left alone on purpose. His own curse scares him so he tries to lean into the monstrous side of it and be very off-putting to keep people at an arm's distance.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, he's now in the presence of other cursed people who don't buy into his scary act, so some are starting to breach the walls he's put up and he's not too sure he likes this at all! It's scary having folks get close all of a sudden!

🤓 SMILING FACE WITH GLASSES — is your oc chatty or quiet? are they at ease in social situations, or are they more shy?

If Oliver is just with one person, he tends to be chattier. It's a by product of having been on his own for years. He's not used to being able to spread out his conversations all the time, so he just kind of. Goes.

Once there is an actual group though, he tends to shy up and speak only when spoken to. He has trouble keeping pace with conversations in general, but a group makes it even harder for him to determine when it is appropriate to speak, so he just. Doesn't really speak at all.

Since I haven't shared much of him yet, we'll start with some basic information:

He was betrothed at one point. His fiancé was his first victim when his curse over took him.

Presently, Oliver's occupation is a hunter and a fur trader.

He is bilingual.

🧡 ORANGE HEART — does your oc tend to prioritize family or friends?

Oh friends for sure, Oliver has written off his family at this point so Crown is virtually his deeply chaotic and weird family at this point.

🍝 SPAGHETTI — what is/are your oc's favorite food(s)?

Beyond what his curse demands, he loves roasts with veggies. This man would kill for a nice lamb roast with carrots, potatoes, squash, and onion. He also likes spicy foods, though they do NOT agree with his stomach at all.

He used to love sweets, but due to his food sensitivities, he can't enjoy most of them anymore, but he's finding ways around it. So in short: He loves hearty meals, he also enjoys spicy and sweet treats.

Not subjecting OP to me talking about an RP I have with my partner but there was a scene where Oliver and Jude got into an honest to god fight. He ended up biting the shit out of Jude's shoulder and then later regretted it when Roger was patching them both up so...

Quick sketch I did for my rp with @loverscreation for how Oliver would look when they find him again after he fled from a grizzly murder he committed.

While out there he found a huntsman, killed/ate him and took over his trade, transed his gender, and really came into his own as a little shithead

Now for IkeVil Oliver:

Does your OC ever get crushes on other people? Or did they do so in their younger days? Do they remember these fondly? Or does recalling such things make them cringe?

What old habits or negative behavioural patterns has your OC left behind? Was this something they found easy? Or did it take time and/or help from others?

Oh you'll love the answer to the first one.

Yes. For the roleplay I have with Aurora to establish more about IkeVil Oliver and his backstory, back when he was a Lady and part of a well-to-do family, he ended up meeting and dancing with William and that boy fell hard. He ended up being betrothed to a man he didn't like (and subsequently killed and ate his fiance prior to their marriage), but he did send a very dramatic confession/goodbye letter to William.

He prefers to act like that letter does not exist. Obviously it couldn't be him - the names don't match! He's not a noblewoman! (William knows that Oliver was the one that sent it and that he is wickedly embarrassed. He'll come around at some point, but he needs time to sort himself out!)

As for the second question - haha, well! I guess you could say he left his repression behind! Oliver is much more open with his emotions now than when he was younger and before his curse really was in full swing. He isn't exactly the friendliest guy in Crown, and he can be downright off-putting, but he is saying exactly what he thinks. Perhaps that's William's influence, or perhaps all that time alone in the woods has effectively destroyed his filter. Who knows?

Do you ever imagine how Oliver would be if he grew up under other circumstances? Would he still be curious and.. I want to say cheerful? could you imagine a place for him to be that would have dramatically altered him?

So for the roleplays I have with my partner we have some where Oliver came from different places or ended up filling different roles, so the answer is it would bring different traits to the forefront, but he would still be roughly the same.

One is the scientist we know.

Another one was where his labs failed and he ended up working at the palace as a butler as a means of tiding himself over until his luck picked up. This Oliver is more bitter and often takes bigger risks because he has less to lose. This one is one that is currently shipped with Jin and they both call each other out for reckless behavior.

Another, and this one is fun, is where Oliver was Benitoite royalty and ran away from home to try and live elsewhere. This one was made so that he had a very bad relationship with Silvio and basically this Oliver is a Liar (tm). He has ambitions for himself and does not care for the responsibility of the throne. He wants out politics, but unfortunately it came and bit him in the ass. This one was just started last night!

Some other fun ideas I've kicked around that I didn't get far with is Oliver as an Obsidianite spy, Prince Oliver, things like that.

And of course, if you want to go beyond Ikemen Prince, technically you can see differences between the IkeVamp and IkePri Olivers! They are both curious, sure, but IkePri Oliver is a lot more reserved and kind than IkeVamp Oliver - I guess we can say Theo is a bad influence lol

IkeVil Oliver exists, too, but I'm making a version of him to present here. The one I have for an RP is very brutal and touches on dark themes that most folks may not be comfortable with since my partner and I are going full tilt in the horror aspects of that universe. That one is based off of Baba Yaga for the curse and touches on cannibalism. I may make a Kate stand-in Oliver for here.
