women in translation month: publishers
while we're on the subject of translations & female authors, i wanted to throw out a couple of names of publishers that i've loved.
Zubaan Books: an independent feminist publishing house based in New Delhi.
academic books, fiction, memoirs and popular nonfiction, children and young adults' books
tons of translations into english & many books by & about women
they offer pdfs or epubs thru their website & some of their books are available on everand
for physical copies they ship regionally to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka
Comma Press: a not-for-profit publisher based in Manchester.
centered around short stories & anthologies but they do publish the occasional novel
they have a very popular series of anthologies where they put ten short stories by authors from international cities together into individual anthologies - they've got two dozen cities by this point.
every anthology i've seen has at least a couple of female authors, sometimes half, altho of course i haven't checked them all.
i'm also pretty obsessed with their alternate history anthology series, so far with authors from Palestine, Kurdistan, Egypt & Iraq.
i think they have worldwide shipping but it does cost the big bucks.
Hoopoe Fiction: an imprint of the American University in Cairo publishing house.
their focus is the Middle East in English translation and English-language originals by Middle Eastern authors
i found them through everand & just posted about one of my favorite books, published by them. i'm obsessed.
they do worldwide shipping & have some books available in a ton of different online bookstores
And Other Stories: a not-for-profit literary fiction & poetry publisher based in Sheffield.
i'm a huge fan - i actually recently became a subscriber <3
they do a lot of frontlist translations, which is super fun & i love their general ethos. it seems like around half of their authors are women.
this is also incredibly shallow but i'm veryyyy in love with their cover art & couldn't resist a shout-out.
they have worldwide shipping! i also get free shipping in the u.s.
Transit Books: a nonprofit publisher for literary fiction & narrative nonfiction based in San Francisco.
they have a full section for Women in Translation on their site + almost all of their frontlist this quarter are by women & like half are translations.
i first 'met' them thru one of their first publications, back when they started in 2017 - Kintu by Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi. (i love u Kintu <3)
these guys have a lot of books available thru my library & they ship locally to the u.s., mexico & canada. i do think they're available thru a fair few other online stores, though.
Charco Press: a publisher based in Edinburgh focused on Latin American fiction translations.
99% translated & ~50% originally by women!! <3
literary fiction, short stories, some in the original language, & they're branching out more every year!!
they do worldwide shipping & are also available in several online shops (& thru my local library)

The Importance of Nutritional Value Testing
Tumblr media
In today’s health-conscious world, understanding what we put into our bodies is paramount. We scrutinize ingredient lists, track our macros, and strive to make informed choices about our diet. But how can we truly be confident about the nutritional value of the food we consume? This is where Nutritional Value Testing comes in.
What is Nutritional Value Testing?
Nutritional value testing, also known as Nutritional Analysis or a Nutritional Value Lab Test, is a scientific process that measures the specific amounts of nutrients present in a food product. These nutrients include macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein, fat) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals). With accreditation as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017 by NABL and its recognition by esteemed regulatory bodies like the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Export Inspection Council (EIC), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), and MOEF & CC attest to its credibility and adherence to stringent quality standards. FARE Labs employs advanced technologies to conduct thorough analyses, ensuring water meets the highest standards for safety and purity.
Why is Nutritional Value Testing Important?
There are several compelling reasons why nutritional value testing plays a crucial role in the food industry and for individual consumers:
Transparency and Labeling: Accurate nutritional information on food labels empowers consumers to make informed dietary decisions. Testing ensures labels reflect the true nutritional content of a product, considering factors like processing methods and ingredient variations.
Product Development: Food manufacturers leverage nutritional testing to develop healthy and innovative products. Testing allows them to fine-tune formulations to achieve desired nutrient profiles, catering to specific dietary needs or trends.
Quality Control: Nutritional testing serves as a quality control measure, verifying that a product consistently meets its intended nutritional specifications. This ensures consistency for consumers and helps maintain brand integrity.
Regulatory Compliance: Government regulations often mandate specific nutritional testing for various food products. These regulations safeguard consumer health and ensure fair competition within the food industry.
What Does a Nutritional Value Lab Test Analyze?
A comprehensive nutritional value lab test typically analyzes a broad spectrum of nutrients, including:
Macronutrients: Carbohydrates (total, dietary fiber, sugar), Protein, Fat (total, saturated, unsaturated)
Micronutrients: Vitamins (A, C, D, E, B vitamins), Minerals (calcium, iron, sodium, potassium, etc.)
Additional Components: Cholesterol, Moisture content, Ash
FareLabs: Your Partner in Nutritional Value Testing
At FareLabs, we understand the importance of accurate and reliable nutritional testing.  We offer comprehensive Nutritional Value Testing Services to food manufacturers, retailers, and individuals across India. Our state-of-the-art laboratories, equipped with advanced technology and staffed by experienced professionals, ensure high-quality, dependable results.
Conclusion
Nutritional value testing plays a vital role in ensuring food safety, transparency, and consumer health. By demystifying the nutritional content of food, this crucial process empowers individuals to make informed dietary choices and fosters trust within the food industry. For individuals interested in a nutritional value lab test,  several options exist.  An online search for “Nutritional Value Testing Lab Near Me” can yield local laboratories offering such services. For those located in Gurgaon, India, a quick search for “nutritional value testing lab in Gurgaon” can provide a list of local providers.

His leadership and participation in cricket were pivotal in meeting the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) prerequisites for state selectors, requiring participation in at least one first-class match.
Administrative Roles and Challenges
Thakur's administrative journey in cricket reached its zenith when he became the BCCI president in May 2016. His tenure, however, was cut short in January 2017 by a Supreme Court order due to issues related to compliance with court directives and providing false testimony. Despite the setback, Thakur's contributions to cricket administration were significant, particularly in navigating the legal challenges surrounding the ownership of the International Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala.
Political Career
Entry into Politics
Anurag Thakur's political career commenced in 2008 when he won a byelection to the 14th Lok Sabha, defeating Congress Party candidate O.P. Rattan with a substantial margin of 174,666 votes. This victory marked the beginning of a long and successful political journey.
Parliamentary Contributions
Thakur was re-elected to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009, defeating Narinder Thakur of the Congress Party by 72,732 votes. During his tenure, he served on the Standing Committee on Transportation, Culture, and Tourism and was a member of the Prime Minister's consultation committee.
In the 2014 elections, Thakur secured his third term in the 16th Lok Sabha by defeating Rajinder Singh Rana of the Congress Party with a margin of 98,403 votes. His active participation in the General Purposes Committee and the Joint Committee on the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition underscored his legislative acumen.
Continued Success
The 2019 elections saw Thakur re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha, defeating INC rival Ram Lal Thakur with an overwhelming majority of over 300,000 votes. His appointment as a Minister of State in the Finance and Corporate Affairs division further solidified his role in shaping India's economic policies.
Military Service
Anurag Thakur made history by becoming the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member to be promoted to the rank of a regular commissioned officer in the Territorial Army in July 2016. This achievement highlighted his dedication to national service and added another dimension to his multifaceted career.
Personal Life
Anurag Thakur married Shefali Thakur on November 27, 2002. Shefali is the daughter of Gulab Singh Thakur, a former minister in the Himachal Pradesh government. Thakur's family background and personal life have been supportive pillars in his illustrious career.
Awards and Recognitions
Thakur's contributions have been recognized with several awards. In 2011, he was honored with the Best Young Parliamentarian Award, acknowledging his dynamic role as one of India's youngest parliamentarians. In 2019, he received the Sansad Ratna Award for his exceptional work during the 16th Lok Sabha term.
Controversies and Statements
Anurag Thakur's political career has not been without controversies. In January 2020, he faced criticism for echoing a provocative statement at a BJP gathering. Additionally, his interaction with the media has sometimes been contentious, notably on March 1, 2020, when he accused the media of misinformation regarding certain issues.
Conclusion
Anurag Thakur's journey from a cricketer to a prominent political leader and military officer showcases a remarkable blend of talent, dedication, and resilience. His diverse career, marked by significant achievements and challenges, reflects his commitment to serving India in various capacities. As he continues to shape the future of Indian politics and cricket, Thakur's multifaceted legacy will inspire many for years to come.

But that’s about to change in 2023 as the first Today at Apple session will be held at the India Art Fair 2023 in New Delhi, starting February 9. Just to be clear,…

Completed Class 12 Board Exams? Know what are the best colleges around the country for Graduation
Class 12 is, without a doubt, a watershed moment in the lives of all students. Some of you may have a clear idea of what you want to do with your life, but many of you may find yourself at a career crossroads and unsure of what to do after 12th grade.
Students completing class 12 must prepare for the next step, which is to select a course to pursue after class 12 and an excellent college or university that would help them explore their horizons more often.
Science, Arts, and Commerce courses are available after 12th grade, this requires some thought and research. Science, Commerce or Arts? After tenth grade, what’s next? Which college or university should you attend?
Every field today offers a plethora of opportunities, but you should always choose a stream/course based on your interests, aptitude, and class 12 grades. It’s critical to assess your interest and aptitude, as well as your understanding of the job’s requirements. If you choose a stream solely on the basis of your interests and lack the necessary skills and abilities, you may face difficulties in the future. So, to get a better idea of what’s next after grade 12, sit down and reflect on what areas you’re naturally good at and what areas are frequently a source of difficulty for you. You can also solicit feedback from parents or teachers.

Media Expo to unveil industrial screen printing tech at 2023 editions
Tumblr media
Expanding its product showcase of printing technologies beyond traditional graphic arts, OOH media, or packaging applications, Messe Frankfurt India is set to introduce a new segment for industrial screen printing technology at the 2023 editions of Media Expo.
The branding show, which is heading towards its milestone 50th edition, will present a string of innovations from the world of printing, signage, indoor, and OOH advertising sectors introduced on the platform over the years.
In addition, a new pavilion focused on technologies for industrial screen printing will be introduced at the Mumbai and Delhi editions next year. The Mumbai show will be held from 2 to 4 March while the Delhi edition is from 15 to 17 September 2023.
Screen printing continues to be one of the most effective techniques for creating art, prints, and designs in multiple industries – be it retail, automotive, electronics, or textiles. Its efficacy in printing on almost any kind of surface, be it cloth or fabrics, paper or plastics, glass, wood, or leather, makes it one of the most versatile technologies that can be used for both textiles as well as industrial applications.
With an aim to create a more targeted platform catering to the respective textile and industrial buying groups, the organizers have decided to split the brand Screen Print India into two focused segments – ‘Screen Print India - Textiles’ & ‘Screen Print India - Industrial’.  Screen Print India - Textiles will continue to take place alongside Gartex Texprocess India catering to the textile value chain. Screen Print India – Industrial will be introduced as a segment under the Media Expo fair, targeting print businesses.
Indian printers as well as machinery and material suppliers have ramped up their operations over the past two years and continue to look for technologies that can meet demand across multiple sectors. While screen printing technologies are used for mass production or promotional items, many of these can become part of the manufacturing processes to enhance product finishing, coating, and final product appearance.
Media Expo's printing segment covers diverse solutions from woodwork printing to stone engraving machines to laser cutting to 3D printing technologies. Representing a multitude of applications for “functional graphics” used for product promotions, industrial screen printing, therefore, opens up promising growth areas for print businesses.
“Back in 2017, when we acquired Screen Print India, our strategy was to expand and enhance our offerings to our customers and partners in the printing and textile sectors. By segmenting the brand as per its applications of ‘textile’ and ‘industrial’ screen printing alongside two of our flagship fairs, we aim to develop the exhibitions in a more targeted and well-defined manner to suit respective visitor profiles and market demands,” Raj Manek, executive director and board member, Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings Ltd.
From aesthetic prints that enhance product image to functional coating solutions for glass, metals, electronics, or substrates, the use of screen printing is manifold with reports pegging the global market growth at CAGR 16%, projected to a revised size of US$ 5 billion by 2027 from the estimated US$ 1.8 billion in the year 2020.
A dedicated convergence and networking platform under Media Expo for Industrial screen printing will bring the perfect synergy and allow trade visitors to explore solutions of functional coatings for medical and bio applications, aerospace and automotive printing, printed electronics, printed ceramics, and much more under a single platform.
