Unveiling the Mind-boggling Secrets of Panathenaea: Revealed by an Angsty Teen
Oh hey there, fellow humans! Have I got a mind-blowing revelation for you today! Brace yourselves, because I'm about to spill the beans on an unbelievably obscure truth about Panathenaea that will leave you scratching your heads in disbelief. Now, I'm sure you're all familiar with Panathenaea, right? No? Well, don't feel bad, it's not like it's a widely discussed topic or anything. Only true intellectuals like me care to delve into the depths of ancient festivals. So, here's the scoop: Did you know that Panathenaea was not just your ordinary, run-of-the-mill festival? Oh no, my friends! It was a secret disguise for an interplanetary gathering of aliens from across the galaxy! You see, those ancient Greeks were sly little devils. They had this genius idea to celebrate their cultural heritage while simultaneously hosting an extraterrestrial summit. Crazy, right? But hold on, it gets even better! The Panathenaea festival was actually a cover-up for aliens to exchange knowledge and trade secrets. They would disguise themselves as humans and blend in with the crowd, all the while exchanging intergalactic wisdom on advanced technology, interstellar navigation, and fashion trends from distant worlds. Talk about multitasking! But why, you may ask? Well, the answer is simple: the Greeks were the ultimate fashion influencers of their time. These aliens, being the true fashionistas that they were, couldn't resist the allure of ancient Greek togas and laurel wreaths. Their fashion game was level 1000, and they needed the Greeks' style tips to stay ahead in the galactic runway of fashion and stardom. Now, I know what you're thinking. How on earth did I uncover this mind-blowing revelation? Well, my friends, it all started when I stumbled upon an angsty ancient Greek teen's diary, which was conveniently hidden under a rock in my backyard. Talk about a cosmic coincidence! In this diary, our angsty protagonist spilled the beans on the true purpose of Panathenaea, venting about the pressure of secrets, intergalactic politics, and dealing with zit breakouts on those important alien council meetings. It was like discovering the holy grail of secret societies! So there you have it, folks! The jaw-dropping truth behind Panathenaea. Who knew that ancient festivals could be cover-ups for interstellar fashion gatherings? It seems like the angsty ancient Greek teen was onto something bigger than they ever realized. Next time you attend a festival, keep your eyes peeled for any suspicious beings sporting togas and stardust. You never know when you might stumble upon an alien exchange program right under your nose. Stay curious and keep questioning the unbelievable, my friends!

final evaluation
for our multiverse theme, I was really inspired by the idea of a passageway through time, or a tunnel that links the past and the future. I looked at Viktor & Rolf’s FW 2016 runway, where they used old scraps and rags from their past projects to create their garments, creating an immersive journey through moments in their career. I thought looking at the theme ‘multiverse’ in a more metaphorical, meaningful way was very interesting, so I decided to reference Viktor & Rolf’s time capsule-like garments in my own, by adding scraps and rags of black fabric to represent the ‘chaos’ side of my dress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to make sure my garment didn't fall short for the M.A.R.S (maths, art, religion, science) part of our theme, so I spent a lot of time deciding how I should link it all together. For maths, art, and science I machine-embroidered a geometric block pattern all over the ‘order’ side of the dress, inspired by artist and quilt maker Yoshiko Jinzenji, whose minimalistic, yet detailed quilts communicate order like nothing else. I also wanted the geometric pattern to look like living cells of a plant or animal, with little organelles inside. For the ‘religion’ part of my theme I looked at the ancient Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang, which is a concept of dualism, where contrasting forces are said to actually be interconnected and complimentary. this also fits in with ‘order & chaos’ because in the real world, order & chaos come as a pair, all order was born out of chaos, and you can never have one, without the other. to communicate the idea of Yin and Yang, I made sure to make opposing sides of my dress black and white, and I made the dividing line waved instead of strait to mimic the Yin and yang symbol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From all the 2D processes that I did in this project, I think doing an artist copy of Jinzenji’s quilt embroidery was the most effective, as it really gave me an idea as to what direction I wanted to go in the the ‘order’ half, and it also features very prominently in my final garment. I also think that the ‘fashion rough’ task really helped me loosen up and stop overthinking my designs and ideas. I had never drawn that many designs at once, and I found it really challenging at first because I wanted every design to be the best, but it made me realise that its all about experimenting, and finding out what works and what doesn't. Drawing out my final design idea was really effective in helping me decide what to do next because seeing a fully conceptualised version of my idea allowed me to go back and refine details and make it even better. some 2D processes that I didn't think were so effective for me were the mathematical grid mirrored designs we did. I didn't like the colours I used, and the lighting gave it a yellow tone which didn't look very clean or professional. It just wasn't where I wanted my final piece to go. I loved my ‘positive and negative space’ paintings, I used gouache paints which are really pigmented and easy to work with, and I spent a lot of time filling in all the details, which I think was worth the effort. they came out really clean, looking almost abstract until you notice what the paintings actually are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
out of all the 3D processes I did in this project, I'd say that draping was the most effective. I had never tried draping before, and a chose to make a very simple dress because I don't have any experience in constructing clothes yet. I really enjoyed draping my garment, because it was really satisfying making the fabric fit the mannequin perfectly, and it was a lot easier than I was expecting. I really enjoyed the whole process of making the dress, like pattern cutting, embroidery, and sewing, my main interest is learning how to construct garments, and although this dress is very simple, I still feel like I've learned a lot. I also love the ‘interstellar wormhole/wearable sculpture’ task I did, i loved the shapes and curves the tights naturally made, I would of loved to have included it in my final piece, but I couldn't work out how to include it in a garment without it getting scrunched up because of the elasticity. Although I like how my pop up constellation turned out, I don't think it was very effective in terms of helping me towards my final piece, as I didn't explore star signs and horoscopes to represent the ‘religion’ part of my theme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I created a video to show the process of making my final piece from start to finish by making a Tiktok. I wanted to do this because it was an easy way to cut and edit a video quickly, and add music in the background. I wanted a clear story of how the dress was constructed, which I think I achieved. I like the transitions I put into the video, I think it makes the whole process look very seamless (even though it wasn’t) and flow well.
In terms of heath and safety, there wasn't a huge concern because I didn't have access to any serious machinery or tools such as a heat press that could pose a real heath risk, but I still has to consider things such as being careful not to catch my fingers in the sewing machine. To achieve this, I made sure not to use the sewing machine when I was tired or unfocused. I pricked my self a lot with needles and pins, but there was no way I was going to avoid this, especially with the amount of beading I was doing. I also had to make sure not to cut myself with scissors, but at the time I wasn't really thinking about health and safety, its almost second nature.
I faced a lot of limitations while making this dress, especially because of covid. I didn't have any of the materials I needed, so I picked up a bag of supplies that was made for me from college, as well as buying my fabric from amazon. the fabric arrived very late, which meant I had some serious Time restraints. I'm lucky I live right next to the hardware store, I was in and out of there frequently, buying pins, needles, beads, thread, zips etc. I leaned how to drape my dress from YouTube, which meant I did have to have a couple tries before I got it perfect. the most challenging moment was when i realised I spent hours and hours embroidering and beading the wrong panel of my dress, and I had to throw it away.
I really love my final outcome, it looks exactly like the design I drew, and I think its clear that a lot of time and concentration went into creating it. I think I did a really good job of connecting it to all the themes while still sticking to a strong concept. if I were to make it again, I would add more textures and shades of black to the chaos side, I think it would look much better if it wasn't all made out of the same black fabric. I would also add more black strips on the shoulder and hip to give it even more volume. I would also love to have made it on a different mannequin, as my one doesn't have a lot of shape, and with the rag rug design, I had a hard time making the dress keep it’s silhouette.
Ive struggled a lot with time management and organisation while working a home, I find it really hard to say concentrated when I'm surrounded with so many distractions. Its something I need to work on, this was the first time I've had to do a project completely from home, and think it was important for me to see what I'm like working in a home environment so I can see what I need to change for next time. I've always struggled with committing fully to and idea or concept, because a lot of the time I second guess myself and struggle with feeling confident in my skills. this project has taught me not to take things so serious, to improvise, and that it okay for everything not to be 100% perfect.

✨CONNECTIONS✨
Ella Terre - (Best Friend) Ella and Venus met at a party, where Ella saved Venus from a terrible scandal by taking everyone’s phones and smashing them when Venus was drunk and showing off.. well, you know. Venus felt like she owed Ella and saved her at the next party by telling off a boy who she saw slipped soemthing into Ella’s drink. Once they were both back to safety, the girls vowed to never to go to another party again without each other and the two have been besties ever since.
Magnar Marsden - (Finds Interesting) Venus took Magnar on as her personal trainer so that she could stay in shape for her photo shoots and for her runway events. Off camera, the two constantly butt heads, Serafina swearing that she will one day find out the secret life of Venus and she will expose her.

11 Celebrities Who Make Long Hair Look Good

11 Celebrities Who Make Long Hair Look Good
Any man with even a passing interest in the goings on in Tinseltown will have noticed a trend that’s been growing — both literally and figuratively — over the past year or two.
Hollywood locks have been getting longer, with short cropped cuts giving way to wavy, textured mops. And the change is one that’s not gone unnoticed by the barbering world. “It’s a trend that’s been gathering momentum for the last couple of seasons, and it is linked to what’s been happening in men’s fashion,” says Joe Mills, founder of London’s Joe and Co. “No one wants to look the same, and this is driving the shift to longer hair and softer styles.”
It’s fair to say that the lean towards longer hair coincided with the rise of maximalism on the runways (think chunky trainers and logo tees), but it’s not just about keeping up with fashion. “With longer hair, men also like that you can style it differently and completely alter your look from one day to the next,” adds Mills. “We’ve had quite a few years of the short back and sides, so it’s time for a change. And the fact that long hair is popping up everywhere shows that this is where things are heading.”
However, for all their benefits, trailing tresses are noticeably trickier to maintain than a classic military haircut. “It’s all about the condition of your hair,” says Mills. “Growing it out, you have to take care of it.” That means choosing the right hair products, from conditioners to sun protection, and paying careful attention to styling too. “Gels, styling creams and pastes are going to be your friend,” adds Mills. “You don’t need to have it trimmed every six weeks, but you need to get it cut into a shape that will grow out well.”
Given that it’s a trend bred on the red carpet, who better to get inspiration from than 11 famous men who’ve shown the rest of us how to do long hair the right way. These are them.
Jason Momoa’s Man Bun
Hawaiian hunk Jason Momoa stole hearts (and probably a load of girlfriends) when he broke through playing Dothraki hardman Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. While his acting was impressive, Momoa’s real crowning glory was that he became the only man in known history to wear a man bun and make it look not just plausible, but certifiably badass. Mind you, with a face like that, you could rock a bowl cut from your mum and still look smouldering.
Kendrick Lamar’s Cornrows
Ayy, Kendrick went through a number of haircuts in the early years. But ayy, since the 2015 release of the critically acclaimed To Pimp a Butterfly, ayy, Cornrow Kenny’s hair has become something of, ayy, a trademark. Well, that and saying “ayy” all the time. It’s a low-maintenance style that’s ideal for unruly afro hair, and works well in Lamar’s case as it compliments his round face shape by adding some visible length to his head. It’s got to be hard to stay humble and sit down with hair like that.
Dave Grohl’s Rockstar Mane
There’s no two ways about it: Dave Grohl is cool. Like, really cool. After all, not only is the man one of the most influential rock musicians of the past 20 years, but his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-worthy hair is some of the finest ever to have graced the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury. The secret? It’s natural and carefree, yet conditioned to perfection. Plus, like his beard, it’s just the right length to avoid stepping into greasy headbanger territory.
Jeff Bridges’ Silver Sweep
Teaming a bushy grey beard with shoulder-length silver hair isn’t the kind of tonsorial move we’d usually advocate. However, for proof that it can work look to Jeff Bridges, who as well as being the most experienced celebrity on our list, also has one of the most effortlessly cool hairstyles. The American actor’s flowing, slicked-back mane is proof that you’re never too old to rock long hair. A bit of confidence and a beard that’s kept neat and tidy at all times is all you need to carry it off.
Jared Leto’s Biblical Barnet
If you can take your eyes off whatever technicolour get-up he’s wearing long enough to look up, you’ll notice that Jared Leto has got one seriously head of long hair on the go. The singer, actor, potential second coming of Christ and certified sartorial fruit loop has the sort of shimmering mane that has women stopping him on Hollywood Boulevard to ask what leave-in conditioner he uses. And that’s precisely why it works. Leto’s locks are glossy and well cared for. Try hair this length without running a comb through for a few days and you’re Mel Gibson in Braveheart. A look no one should be shooting for.
Timothee Chalamet’s Mid-Length Side Part
At just 22 years of age, and with acting credits in the likes of Homeland, Interstellar and a breakthrough part in Call Me By Your Name, it’s easy to feel a little envious of Timothée Chalamet. And that’s before we even get onto his looks. Chalamet is blessed in the genetics department, sure, but it’s his flowing chestnut brown hair that really seals the deal. The longer length compliments his square-shaped face, with the soft waves and curls counterbalancing his angular features. This is one man who knows how to match his hairstyle to his face shape.
Bradley Cooper’s Mid-Length Locks
He may have got his big break playing a man with a severe hangover, but Bradley Cooper’s wavy mid-length locks look anything but rough around the edges. Brushed back to casual perfection, Cooper’s hair is a shining example of how to do a longer style without going full Captain Caveman. Just a touch of pomade, a quick run through with the fingers and a smattering of stubble is all it takes to look like Hollywood royalty. Well, that and the bone structure of a Greek god. But the rest of us will just have to make do.
Dev Patel’s Messy Textured Mop
Dev Patel has come a long way since his early days as a teenage tearaway on Skins. And so has his hair. In fact, like his suits, the gradual improvement of Dev’s do has correlated suspiciously closely with his roles becoming bigger and better over the years. Coincidence? We think not. These casting agents know a good mane when they see one and the Lion star has one of the best in the business. The messy, textured style works brilliantly because it looks loose and natural. It’s a great example of the more laid-back styles that can be seen dominating the red carpets of late.
Justin Bieber’s Beachy Dye Job
Credit where credit’s due: for a man who has had the entire world massaging his ego since the age of 14, Justin Bieber has done well not to (completely) grow into the devil incarnate. The worst he’s done is act like a bratty teenager, get arrested once and sport the odd bad haircut, which in the scheme of things is largely forgivable. To add to the praises, not all of Bieber’s barnets have been terrible. In fact, his recent Cobain-esque dye job actually looks pretty good. Let’s hope he stays on the long, straight and narrow from here on.
Kit Harington’s Wavy Slick-Back
Kit Harrington doesn’t have it easy. Even the whole fighting an army of White Walkers thing aside, he has the often difficult task of managing curly hair. Fortunately, the Game of Thrones actor is seemingly an expert, leaving the rest of us seriously considering a perm. Harington’s hair, unlike most others in this list, works well because it’s almost completely natural. Instead of trying to straighten his ringlets out, or style them into oblivion, the actor has embraced the frizz and gone au naturale. A smart move that sees him earn pride of place among Hollywood’s hairiest.
Harry Styles’ Hairy Style
Teenage boy bands formed on TV talent shows don’t exactly have a glowing track record when it comes to their groundbreaking looks. Harry Styles, however, is the exception. One Direction’s premier heartthrob is a man who’s had more, err, hairy styles than most people have had hot dinners, with one of his most popular being his grown-out rocker locks, which replaced his early teenybopper tresses and marked his transition from reality star to credible musician.

When the Only Times I’ve Been to a Pub Has Been With My Film Professor
Today felt REALLY long but I also had two classes today, and that always leads to a lot taking place over the course of the day.
The important moment of the day was that I made my first kill in Assassins! I had Sara, who’s in my flat, so it was pretty easy. But I “killed” her at breakfast this morning, sort of. In reality, I basically told her I had her name and that I was killing her. I didn’t want to shoot her with the water gun and mess up her outfit or hair or anything like that. So now I have a different person, but I’ll see if I last that long. I just wanted to get one person before being killed myself.
Anyway, we then had Pop Culture class. Today we talked about fashion so… needless to say, I found it a bit boring. I only find fashion interesting if Meryl Streep is running it. For our outing, we went to an exhibit on Sam McKnight, whose a hairstylist for runways and fashion shows and stuff like that. It was a pretty cool exhibit because it showed all the different styles he’s done and how he’s worked with all these different magazines and models.
After the exhibit, we walked back to the flat.  It was a beautiful day, just on the cusp of spring! It was sunny, and flowers and trees are blooming! And it’s getting wonderfully warm! I love it! It makes me feel so happy and alive! A group left for Burough Market but I stuck around on account of my afternoon class.
I printed my paper and hung out until it was time for class. Today was a really fun class! First, we had a lecture on The Dark Knight and comic book films in general. It’s always fun to hear our professor talk about the films, because he knows people who worked on them. He knows people who worked on The Dark Knight and with Christopher Nolan on Interstellar and stuff like that! Apparently, one of his friends had lunch with Heath Ledger a few weeks before he died. He’s so involved, it blows my mind!
Then, after the lecture, we went for a walk around Soho and he showed us some really cool spots. Walks like that make me realize just what a great location we’re in. We’re so close to so many cool places and neighborhoods.
After the walk, we took the tube to where we’d see our movie for the night. We saw Logan at an IMAX cinema, which is the largest movie screen in Europe! But we had some time before we actually saw the movie, so our group split between those going to a pub and those going over a restaurant. I got chicken wings (which isn’t technically new food, but definitely not something I’d pick out willingly on a menu before) and fries and it was so satisfying!
By then, we walked over to the theatre. The theatre was massive! The screen was rounded on the edges, so if you were sitting in the middle I bet the experience is super immersive. I was kind of off to the side, so it wasn’t as cool as I thought it would be, but still great!
The movie itself was good. It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be, but I couldn’t really say why. It’s basically old Wolverine and what he’s doing with Professor X and dealing with the supposed idea that they’re some of the last mutants alive. But of course, a new mutant shows up and he basically has to play a father figure. It’s a compelling story, in my opinion. A lot of the film focuses on how age is affecting Logan, and I found this fascinating! Just the guilt he carries from his past and also how his mutation and abilities are being affected by age. Stuff like this is so much more interesting to me than having superheroes fight villains. However, this movie still had villians so it wasn’t just looking at Logan and his debilitating age. However x 2, said villain is very attractive and I could not believe how hot he was. Like… where has he been hiding all this time??? What’s his address? His number???
Anyway, the film is obviously trying to be a bridge onto a new set of films in the x-men genre, so that’s cool. And it had a very genuine and emotional ending, which did actually make me tear up. I always find that commendable.
After the movie, our professor took us on a little walk over to some nearby pubs and neighborhoods. We got to see some streets that were inspiration for J.K. Rowling when writing her books, and what was used as the exterior of Snape’s house in the 6th movie! We went to a pub for a little bit, and I wasn’t the only one not drinking, so I wasn’t super uncomfortable. Eventually, a group of us decided to head back to the flat.
Our professor was laughing and said to me “Make sure you all get back safe, but let David think he’s in charge. That’s how you’ve got to handle men, you know.” And I laughed and said, “believe me, I know.” This made him genuinely laugh and he said, “oh, I can’t wait to read your essay.” So, that’s a good sign. He did say he’s not one to give out A’s liberally so… challenge accepted!
So I took the tube back to the flat and now I’m chilling in my room. Everyone’s going out to the club and I’m very excited to have the flat to myself! I’ll get to see Daniel tomorrow and I’m practically bouncing off the walls at the idea of it! It won’t be until after our mandatory volunteering (oxymoron intended) in the morning, but at least that’s the only mandatory thing we have this weekend.
