“The Value of Being a Media and Information Literate Individual”
          With the help of the progressive technology, media and information has become more accessible to people nowadays. Media which comes in different formats can provide us different information which may be a good or a bad thing for us. That's why, being a media and information literate in the 21st century could be considered as an advantage to others because we would possess abilities and skills that an illiterate user of media and information do not have. It is because media and information literacy hones individual's skills and abilities including the 21st century skills such as creativity, critical thinking and communication. The common ground skill of the two was the critical thinking because it will make the person to think critically either in using media or acquiring information. Media and information literacy should be taught to adults and teens as they are the main participants in using media and information. 
           So you see, it is really an advantage to be a media and information literate. It gives you benefits which you could use in everyday life. As a student, being an information literate would greatly help you because you have the ability to locate where to find credible information which you will later on evaluate then use it perhaps, as part of your school work. On the other hand, being a media literate individual, you have the ability to identify real of fake news, understand the message behind a certain passage, create and make use of media properly. An example of being a media and information literate person was I would not easily believe what I read in social media platforms because I should check first it's credibility before believing it as a factual information. being an information literate individual, when finding information about a certain topic, the last thing that I want to do is to commit plagiarism. Therefore, after getting the information needed, I would definitely cite the source of the information to give recognition to their works.
