Gona put a Spoiler alert on this one for “Take My Arms That I Might Reach You”.
Hey so I’m back (the person who asked about the time measurement in “Take My Arms”) to say I absolutely loved the rest of the fic. I really enjoyed the character development both Techno and Phil went through throughout the fic and getting to see the way they both end up together terrorizing the bigots of the desert was wonderful. Was sobbing at the part where Phil died had me fighting back tears cause I was absolutely reading this at work. Just the visual you painted in my head of Techno putting Phil’s body in the bedroll was the breaking point. I was like 90% Phil was gona come back, but still it got to me. The world building you did in the Ebony plane was incredible! I love a good info dump and Kristin’s explanation of the magic and spirits tied everything together so well. And oooooo the Quackity/Techno flashbacks. Man Techno really did a number on him! But I like that they still became tentative friends after all was said and done. You asked what my thoughts were on Chapter 18 and I’ll be honest, I’m a bit confused on that but cause there’s a chapter 18 and then one labeled eighteenth, so I’m gona roll em together. I pretty much knew early on in the fic that Techno was also had wings. It was pretty obvious (at least to me) with the fact that he had a voice talking to him since Phil had the same thing, even if he ignores it. Still, the reveal was fantastic! And the way Techno used his own curse to get on Phil’s level and try to calm him down and let him know he was okay, he wasn’t going to hate him was so sweet. Ah! I could go on and on about all the little details I loved about the fic, but those are the major things I loved about it. Sorry it took so long to get back to this, life went and lived and my brain has been a bit fried lately so it been hard to put thoughts into words. But you’re a wonderful writer and I will definitely be coming back to reread this fic again in the future, as well as keeping an eye on your other fics (see you have a new one out, haven’t gotten to it yet again because life). Thank you so much for sharing your work!
AAAA THANK YOU!!
im soooo glad u loved the fic!! character development my beloved, that was one of my big things i wanted to achieve with this fic, having a distinct but still believable development of the characters, and to show how that development happened even when it wasnt going quite so great. patpat i am hugging u but also hell yeah i rlly wanted that moment to have a big emotional impact esp since it was planned from like. the very start lol.
im glad u didnt think my infodumping was too out of place! truth be told the worldbuilding developed a LOT as i was writing the fic, and some things never got the chance to get properly established rip.
backstory hell yeah! i wanted to show what techno was like when he was young and more in phils shoes and i also wanted to elaborate on quackitys cardistry, AND i wanted to show that the superstitions around the carrion cursed arent entirely unfounded. managed to roll that all into one chapter lolll.
oof yeah prolly shouldve clarified. by chapter 18 i mean the chapter titled eighteenth, the ao3 automatic chapter numbers are wrong bc the first 'chapter' is a prologue lol. and niceee ur one of few who actually made that connection, youd be surprised at how many people genuinely failed to see that chat was no different to kristin it was so funny.
PLEASE DO GO ON ABOUT THE LITTLE DETAILS!!! OH I WOULD LOVE YOU SO MUCH IF YOU DID!! (not to say i dont love u anyways that is) little details are my favourite things literally ever i know i wrote the fic but pleasee go on about the little things you noticed!!
thank you soso much for this, genuinely <333 you dont need to apologise for taking ages to read shit, god knows life can Be Like That. cant wait to hear what u think of my future and maybe even past stuff!!

Idea that makes no sense but I think is very funny; the other time traveller is Technoblade. All of his “characters” in Tales? They arent just all coincidentally Piglins Techno just puts on increasingly elaborate costumes and just goes back in time to hang out. His favorite hobby was driving immortal Dream crazy by insisting no of course he’s not the same person that make no sense
“So,” Dream says loudly, eyes rimmed red from sleeplessness, “let me get this straight.”
“Good luck,” Techno says helpfully.
His rival’s eye twitches.
“You’re Technoblade.”
“Good start.”
“And this-” With a flourish, Dream pulls a sheet from a wall, and Techno almost cries laughing at the huge detective red-string board Dream has made. He holds himself together, just. This must have taken Dream weeks. It’s covered with photographs of him in various outfits across various years, all of them wearing the same deadpan expression. String decorates the board generously, with frantically scribbled notes covering the board almost entirely. “This is Sir Billiam.”
Techno peers closer. Dream is pointing at a photo of a young aristocratic Piglin from the nineteenth century, the very picture of authoritative wealth. “Handsome guy,” he says, and Dream laughs in frustration, “old picture. How’d you get this?”
“I-” Dream fumbles, and Techno watches him try to think of an excuse other than I’m immortal for why he’d have a photo from the nineteenth century. “I... inherited it.”
“From what family?” Techno grins. “And they didn’t even leave you a house in the inheritance? Lame.”
“No, no, you’re not gonna distract me from this.” Not to be deterred, Dream points at the photo of Sir Billiam, and then to Techno. Techno blinks, unbothered. “How are you gonna deny it? You’re- You’re him!”
“Dream,” Techno drawls, “and here I thought we were friends. Do you really believe I’d ever be rich? I’m the archnemesis of capitalism and inherited wealth, Dream. This guy - handsome though he is, and probably super clever and all that - is nothing like me.”
Dream drags his hands down his face. “You’re telling me you’re not this guy? This Piglin? Who has the same scars and everything as you?”
“I mean, he’s missin’ a few. The one over my forehead is one he doesn’t have. He’s missing the scar on his hand, too-”
“I just gave you that, you’re such an idiot!” Taking a deep breath, Dream does his best to recover. “Fine. Okay. Let’s say I believe you. A coincidence, right? One is a coincidence. But two?”
This time, he points wildly at another picture - a painting this time, oil painting, if Techno remembers correctly - of another Piglin, this one looking grizzled and in a Sheriff’s uniform. He does have the forehead scar, and looks even more like Techno than Sir Billiam.
“Two? Two’s suspicious. Two is weird.”
Techno lets the silence settle for a minute, before chuckling.
“Sherman Thompson? Kind of a stupid name. You sure these aren’t your OCs?”
“Oh, come on, now.” Dream says flatly, breaking into a pace. The immortal looks feverish - man, Techno thinks, how long has he been thinking about this? “You don’t think this is even slightly suspicious? You don’t think I don’t know what you are by now?”
“Mean way to speak about us Piglins-”
“I’m not talking about you being a Piglin,” Dream groans, “you’re- I mean, you’re immortal, right? This- This- These are you. All of these-”
Both of them turn back to the board, with a dozen other pictures scattered over the side surface with various desperate-looking notes and details attached.
“They’re all you, right?”
“...Riiiight,” Techno says, patronisingly, and Dream looks like he’s going to start laughing or crying, “totally, man. When was the last time you slept?”
“I don’t need sleep. I need answers.”
“I mean, none of these are me.”
“Prove it.”
“Prove... that a sheriff Piglin from hundreds and hundreds of years ago isn’t me, Technoblade, twenty two years old.” Techno lets the words fluster Dream before continuing. “Okay. I promise that all those photos and paintings aren’t me.”
Technically, he’s not even lying. One of the photos is just some random Piglin. Techno has never seen him before in his life.
Dream sinks back into a chair at the Syndicate, burying his head in his hands. He has the air of a man who has suffered eternally at the hands of God. “I don’t get it,” he mutters, “I was so sure.”
Techno pats his back as he walks out, finally grinning. “Get some sleep, man,” he tells him, “all that time in prison melted your brain. Can you believe this guy?” He calls to Philza, as he leaves the room. “Thinks I’m some kind of immortal. Can you imagine?”
Out of Dream’s earshot, Philza bursts into laughter, and Techno allows himself a smirk.
“You’re going to ruin that man’s sleep schedule forever,” Philza says, “he won’t stop until he knows you’re a time traveller, mate.”
“I know, I know, and then he’ll be mad at me for not telling him, and won’t talk to me for a few days,” Techno grins, “in my defence, it’s pretty funny. He’s got a board now, Phil. Hold on, I gotta decide when to travel back to next. I want to give him a new photo to add to the collection.”
(And, when he travels back just long enough to snap a photo of himself and hand it personally to a very bemused kid-Dream, Techno finally laughs to himself.)
(Maybe it’s unethical to tease a guy who was tortured for three months, but hey, ethics have never really been his style.)

it was easy to assume that you had been in your brothers’ shadows. techno, wilbur and tommy were talented, football players with great, great achievements. the only thing you wanted was a big change in your life, so when you graduated from the middle school and it came up to making a big decision on choosing high school, you chose the dsmp high – school located an hour away from your house.
you remember your first day at school. the day started awfully. tommy woke you up with a loud yell at – as you rightly guessed – wilbur, who stole his phone and texted to his crush. it turned out that you had twenty minutes left to get ready and leave for bus and not be late. well... you were late on the bus, but thankfully your dad promised he’ll drop you off at school.
phil couldn’t be more proud of you. for real, he knew how hard it was for you to choose different school from techno, wilbur and tommy (everyone know he’ll go after his brothers). you were miserable through your whole middle school, because no one ever noticed you as your own person, only as wilbur’s twin sister, techno’s younger sibling or the only sister of tommy. it cause you to slowly losing yourself and becoming a female version of your brothers. so when you spoke to him about the idea of the dsmp high, he couldn’t get happier.
fortunately, dad dropped you off fifteen minutes before your first period started. wandering around the new school, looking for people you had classes with. you looked at your phone and accidentally bumped into a tall, dirty blonde guy with painted nails and purple sweater.
“oh no- i’m so sorry!” he spoke kind of afraid he might hurt you. “you alright?” a worried ask left his mouth as he put a hand on your shoulder.
it turned out that his name is karl and you took same classes as him. well in fact the boy seemed to be pretty nice, chill and funny. you two were on your way to the biology class and jokes were in the air. you felt so delightful that you messaged wilbur and techno a small text saying you just made your first friend. as no one responded you hid your phone.
“don’t worry, bestie.” he beamed at you. “i’ll meet you with my other friends, if that’s okay. they’ll love you and you won’t have to worry about making ones!” karl whispered into your ear and you couldn’t hide a soft smile that formed on your face.
as he said, he did. it was your lunch pause so he led you to the cafeteria. the idea of sitting at the table with people you didn’t know was.. terrifying but at the same time, so exiting. you felt like your heart skipped a beat when a guy called dream showed up with his best friends george and sapnp.
he was so handsome that you couldn’t take your eyes off him. looking at him was just so pleasing that you were kinda mad that he was karl’s friend so you couldn’t really sigh over him. surprisingly, he turned out to be a nice guy as well. you expected dream to be a completely jerk and an arsehole, but well you started to feel like you’d fall for him.
Tumblr media
well… you were right. you fell for clay so deeply that just being around him was… stressing you out. he always cared about you, through your whole freshman year he was so cute and it was hard not to fall.
sophomore year started in a very… unexpected way. you hadn’t seen your friends in weeks, because you have lived so far away, but it didn’t make your brand new friends group to fall apart. you wouldn’t be so surprised if they organized a meet after classes but… well it was a meet, but only with clay. in a shortcut – he took you on a date.
“i missed you so much, y/n/n” he smiled as he shyly took your hand and intertwined your fingers with his. a small, timid smile formed on your blushed face. “fuck… i like you, i have a huge ass crush on you, okay? i-i just don’t wanna mess up our friendship… so please tell me if you don’t feel same” clay spoke with shaking voice, not giving you a sight.
maybe it was the adrenaline that boosted you up, or your inner self just wanted to do it, but as his confession ended, your lips gentlt pressed his. clay was… well shocked is a good word, clay was shocked, but he pulled you in even closer and that’s how you ended up making out in the park.
you were thrilled to the gills and you almost told your brothers about clay. almost, because you heard techno’s talking about a match against the dsmp high. well it wouldn’t be such a big thing if you hadn’t heard dream, and well oh well. words weren’t too nice.
“hi… are you free?” you said softly, sitting on your bed. you were frightened – what if they don’t like each other? what if… wilbur and tommy also don’t like him? “you know techno, right? technoblade minecraft?” a quiet ask left your mouth as you sat under the tree in your yard.
“yes, unfortunately.” his response made you thought that you had annoyed him. “wait, why you’re asking? did he hurt you or something?” dream didn’t let you answer as he added i’m gon’ kill him under his breathe.
“noo, don’t worry” you clutched your head and sighed. “he’s… my brother, older brother, actually”. silence between you two were clearly killing you, but you couldn’t be one to break it. he had to say something.
“oh my fuck” you heard his shocked voice and chuckled in response. “it doesn’t matter. you’re the one i fell in love with, not he. i know you’re worried, but everything will be alright.”.
“i hope so” his laughter calmed you. “i’ll call you later so we can fall asleep on call okay? dinner’s ready”.
Tumblr media
”it’s kinda forbidden love, isn’t it?” george laughed as he wrapped his arm around you with a cute smile. brown haired boy was waiting along with you at your whole friends’ group. “y’know… techno is your brother and also a rival of your boyfriend… it’s exciting”.
you almost gasped at his words. it felt so silly and people would probably find it meaningless, but you couldn’t hide a smile that appeared on your face. he didn’t say techno’s sister like everyone from the middle school would say, george said that he’s your brother.
“as long as i love her, nothing else really matters to me” clay’s voice was so sweet that you almost melted under it. he was right, there’s no reason to overthink – you love him and it’s the only thing that matters.
“yeah, you should definitely tell him that at the match on saturday.” oh my fucking god, a match. the elimination match between the dsmp high and the lmanburg high. you were completely between a rock and a hard place.
“fuck, i forgot about it.” wrapping his arms around your body, dream felt how stressed you began to get. he also felt when your body unwittingly started to shake. “he’ll hate me, so will wilbur and tommy.”
“aren’t they already hating you? like- you barely talk to them at home, so… what’s the problem?” sapnap asked shrugging. well, he was right – techno lost his interest in talking to you and unfortunately wilbur and tommy took their cue from him, and the only person you had talked to was your dad.
“you’re coming to our match, right?” karl asked with a nervous smile forming on his face. it was his first match ever on the team – you couldn’t not be there. “it doesn’t who will you cheer for, just be there, okay?”
“karl, of course i will be there” you smiled at him, trying to hide your increasing stress that almost made you pass out. “please win this, okay? it’d be too hard to look at your miserable faces.”
Tumblr media
tommy had always been your favorite of them all. as a child he wouldn’t let you go and sometimes it was obviously burdensome, but you loved it. you loved how he cared and now you missed it. he wanted, but he couldn’t talk to you, techno and wilbur would be pissed if he did.
he wondered about telling you how well he made friends in high school along with tubbo. about all of the funny jokes he made. he just wanted to be a teenager that shares cool memories with his older sister, but for now his brothers were too proud to apologize.
“wil, are you sure we should do that?” he asked, uneasiness appearing on his pale face. he genuinely missed his big sister that always helped him with his homework, with choosing cool outfits to impress girls, helped him, when he argued with tubbo. “she looks so miserable. even dad is worried!”
“we have nothing to do with her miserableness. she left us first. now, she can go and fuck herself” wilbur had never acted lke that before, so surprised tommy just frowned at him and shook his head in hopelessness. something was off and he would like to know what. to repair it.
his stomach rambled and it was time for a snack. tommy was about to came in, but he heard a bit of a conversation between philza and his only daughter.
“yeah, they do kinda hate me” she shrugged, not letting her tears fall. “uhm… clay proposed that i could stay at his. you know, dad. until… they start talking to me again.” long sigh left her mouth as she clutched her head in hands, right before he noticed tears. tommy couldn’t do more, so he got back to his room not letting anyone in later that evening.
it’d be a lie if someone said that tommy wasn’t stressed out. his first game was in a few minutes and his sister was nowhere to be found. “she has better things to do, i disappointed her - i shouldn’t be so shocked.”
when he saw her, he felt relieved. she was there to support him in his first game in high school ever, but as he watched her, slowly drifting away, looking for someone different in the crowd of people, he was hurt.
“i can’t believe you really choose to avoid the affection from dream for today, because your brothers are here. you should fuck them three” sapnap laughed, looking over your shoulder at tommy. “two. he looks hurt as well as you.” you know he was, but he didn’t do anything because the pressure techno and wilbur put on him, was killing him inside.
“y/n you came!” karl cried out, running towards you and sapnap. he hugged you tight and smiled softly, giggling noiselessly. “did y/n’s brothers saw it? i was literally her ride.”
“excuse me, you did that on purpose?” george laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. you joined him, but you stopped when you saw tommy’s upset, frightened face. it wasn’t only karl’s first game – it was tommy’s as well.
“i gotta talk to him” you sighed exhausted of the whole drama around you and your brothers. or just around you, wilbur and techno. your little brother had nothing to do with it. “tommy, hi” you started a bit nervous, feeling the tension betweet you two. and firstly, you thought he will just go away, but you gasped as he hugged you tight.
“i missed you so much” he whispered so anyone could hear but you. soft smile showed up on his face, making it way more brighter. “thanks for coming here, i know it’s rought between you and wil. he’s kinda mad but everything will be fine, i know that.” you wrapped arms around his torso and smiled widely.
“you’ve got this, okay tommy?” you brushed his hair. in response you got a growl and loud laugh after. “if you win or if you lose, it doesn’t matter, because i will still love you, but i’ve gotta go back to my friends.” you beamed and left tommy as soon as you saw wilbur storming towards you.
me: can’t wait to see you on the field :)
you felt like melting, when dream looked at you with his happy, excited face. you were so proud of him – he was the captain of the school football team and it was known that he has a sport scholarship. despite your brothers’ presence, you planned to show clay some support and you painted a medium #21 on your black, denim jacket.
clay: can’t wait to see you on my bed, right next to the trophy i’ll get as a captain.
Tumblr media
he hadn’t lie. you sat on his messy bed, in his messy bedroom, talking to his younger sister drista. she was adorably bewitching. she was a bit younger than tommy, but thankfully she wasn’t as loud as him. you laughed after hearing her awful joke.
“so… you’re living here by now?” she asked curiously, frowning. her eyes scanning your, now, blushed face, waiting on the answer. “please, i cannot stand his my-girlfriend-lives-so-far-and-i-can’t-sneak-into-her-room-and-kiss.” she rolled her eyes, but smile widely.
“oh, yeah.” you blushed even harder as she laughed at your already blushed face. “i’m just worried if he’s okay with us hiding, you know? i mean– he could be with someone else, someone… someone better.”
drista didn’t know what to say and you knew she didn’t have to. you were scared – because of your situation that had place in middle school – he will just leave your for someone better, someone prettier, smarter, cuter.
unfortunately for you, clay had heard your every single word. he coughed, letting drista know that she should go. girl smiled at you before leaving you two alone. him, standing in front of you with only his sweatpants on. “y/n” he started as he got closer.
“i- i- can not tell i know how you feel or how you should feel. and-and i genuinely do not care about anyone else but you. i love you, okay dumbass?” he sat as close as possible and beamed softly.
“you won’t replace me?” the whole thing between you and clay was terrifying you so much. is he lying about his feelings? is he really in love with you? or maybe you’re just a bet? you almost shook your head as the thoughts began to overwhelm you.
he wouldn’t do that. and if he would, some of his friends (yours as well) would kill him. you couldn’t be more happier at the moment. your boyfriend had just told you that he loves you for the very first time, you made amazing friends that would kill for you and vice versa, but there was one thing you had to fix. the relationship with techno and wilbur.
“i could never replace you, love”.
Tumblr media
“you sure you wanna do it?” clay asked, gently rubbing your thigh with his thumb, sitting in the front seat of his car. you were about to tell your whole family that clay dream is your boyfriend. the guy your older brother claimed to hate. lots of fun, right?
you nodded unsure, getting out of the car. it was your first time seeing your brothers in over a month and – boy, oh boy – you were terrified. did they miss you? did they even notice you were gone? you wished they did. you weren’t even able to ring the doorbell, because tommy opened the door with a huge grin.
“i’ve been waiting for you.” he confessed, closing you in a tight hug. he let you off as soon as he noticed smiled dream standing right behind you. “and who are you, mister?” suspicious question left tommy’s mouth.
“i’m y/n’s boyfriend, clay” dream beamed at tommy as he let you in. shock finding their way onto his face was… quite hilarious. he mumbled something under his breathe, but you couldn’t catch it.
as soon as you got onto the dining room, you saw wilbur, techno and dad setting the table. tommy coughed, couldn’t hide his happiness. his sister is back and he can’t let her go ever again.
“hi…” you started, your voice getting shaky. “i wanted to explain some things and it’d be a pleasure if you would accept my new boyfriend, especially technoblade.” dream took your sweaty with nervousness hand to calm you. he knew it was tough for you, knowing that him and techno are rivals. “this is clay and i know you know him, and you’re not on the good terms, but please just… finally talk to me, because i miss both of you and i’d love to have either my brothers and boyfriend close as possible.” you finished glancing at techno and wilbur.
“y/n, i’m just sad you didn’t want to go to same school with me. you had never told me why, we were inseparable and everything changed within days.” wilbur was first to answer you. his dejected voice made you crying. you missed him, his voice, his advices, his presence around you. “everytime i woke up, you were already running on the bus and we didn’t have a chance to talk.”
“i- you- you’re right. i should’ve told you why did i choose the dsmp high. i did, because i began to lose myself, everyone saw me only as your sister and i started to think that i do not matter anymore. i had to change it and i had to show everyone that i’m not just yours and techno’s sister, but i’m my own persona.” wil stood up and got closer to you. your tears convinced him that you weren’t lying and he felt bad that he didn’t realize it sooner. “i’m so sorry”.
“no- no, i’m also sorry. i’m the one that should apologizing. you were just choosing your own path and i was mad at you, because of that. ‘m sorry y/n/n.” you smiled through tears and hugged him as tight as you only could.
“there’s no much drama between us” techno chuckled quietly, watching you and wilbur cuddling. “i already knew what’s going on between you two at the match. i just took wil’s side.” he shrugged and you laughed, shaking your head in disbelief. “well, it doesn’t mean i like you” he claimed glaring at your boyfriend. “i can tolerate you as long as you’ll treat y/n the best you can, otherwise i’ll kill you”.
“i agree and so does tommy” your twin added, looking dream dead in the eyes.
“maybe we’ll stop the death threats here and start eating?” your dad proposed with a cheerful smile. his kids were finally getting along again, he couldn’t be more proud or happier than at the moment.
Tumblr media
“it went so well” you whispered delighted. you were snuggling with dream on your bed, some time after the dinner ended. phil suggested that he could stay for the night, so they can get to know him better.
tommy was thrilled to the bones about the fact that now, he has a new friend, older than him, and also a captain of the football team, so he could teach him how to play better. wil was… well wil. he made sure that dream didn’t have any wrong intentions and techno just couldn’t care less if you were happy with him. he even suggested that they should bury the hatchet and move on.
“i haven’t said that to anyone yet, but i love you” you said, almost skipping a bit when he held your head and gently kissed you.
“well, you already know that i’m head over heels in love with you. and it won’t ever change” he said and kissed you one more time.

Ive seen a lot of Dream (and usually Techno and Phil too) as gods au (i have one too dw) but all of you are sleeping on the funniest option.
Tommy is the god.
Tommy.
hes the only one in that galaxy (other than drista ofc)
Just imagine how fucking funny it is like
it would be so fucking hilarious
and tommy just doesnt tell them
so techno is just there making all these blood god jokes and jokingly telling tommy to serve him and tommys just laughing
imagine a god in the form of a chaotic 16 year old racoon gremlin just walts into your land commits arson and gets banned, only to come back with another person who he helps start a nation for drugs?
imagine how fucking funny it is
just
imagine tubbo banning a literal god from his lands and he just doesnt come back? he just plays by the rules? then goes and like sits in the corner all sad because some humans/dreamons told him to leave
ranboo, just joining the server: hi-  a chaotic gremlin god: wanna commit arson with me?  ranboo, just trying to vibe and maybe not disturb this god: sure
Phil and Ranboo recongnize Tommy as a god on sight.
Everyone else just refuses to believe it. hes Tommy. Tommyinnit. hes just weird lol
And Drista being a fucking chaotic blood god?
drista is open about her godhood and does not hesitate to spawn blocks
Drista finds Dream and decides she likes this small human, and dream just has to deal with it lmao.
drista and tommy are both born at the same time.
Tommy is a god of music, chaos, war and theivery (the last one bc he is a BITCH)
Drista is the blood god, chaos, deception, and theatre
okay but imagine the sbi interactions... like ig in this au tommy joins at like 12/13 years of age (in their minds) so he doesnt really grow much
and like tommy, a literal god, just claiming phil as his father???
phil, in his house making eggs, assuming one of his sons woke up and came to the kitchen, not looking: hey son  tommy, from their couch, already deciding hes phils son now: whats up dad? phil: looks up at tommy who are you tommy: idk dad, who am i  phil: *stares at tommy for a second* eh i made extra eggs you can stay
ASJIDGASUIOG IMAGINE TOMMY TELLING THEM HES A GOD BUT THEY THINK HES JOKING AND IGNORE HIM
everyone on the server: tommy is the youngest! tommy, as old as the universe: no im not!!!! im not a child!!!! he doesnt pout because pouting is for children and hes not a child but hes pouting tubbo: lol im older than you by a month tommy dont try to hide it tommy: im not a child!!!! techno: laughs
tommy doesn't try to hide that hes a god just its tommy
thats all the evedince anyone needs to think tommy isnt a god or powerful its like mcc hes good but only when he doesnt throw for content
quackity: sees drista written in bedrock lmao drista visited? tommy: yeah! i wrote that for her!  quackity: snorts yeahhhh sureee tommy
imagine like how fucking funny it is jsut like
a fucking chaotic god breaks into your house androbs you makes a room under your house and decides to live in your floorboards
imagine dream like trying to manipulate tommy, and tommy a fucking anchient diety immeditly recongnizes what hes doing
but decides to play along for the angst and giggles and then actually gets mad when no one fucking cares for his theatrics
tommy, storming off to technos base to rob and build under: >:///// cant believe none of them acknoledged my  deppression
i love that tommy stills robs everyone, he doesnt need to he can spawn in anything he wants
he just does it for the sport of robbery
JAKOGFSDOH
THE HOLY LAND
dream: im god actually tommy: thats so fucking funny lets make a cult about that :)  dream: see! look! im god! and jesus!  tommy: wheezing
imagine tommy getting stressed and letting go of his mortal form
Tommy, his human form peeling away, showing his actual form a bit: WH̸͘A͠T̷ ̶̢T͞H͢E ̡͘F̴̵͘Ù̧C͜K҉ ̶T͘͜͞E͟CHǸ͏Ǫ  Techno: HAH?
tommy just saw tubbo and got emotionally attached
Tommy, a literal god: hello Tubbo: oh hi do you like my pet bee? Tommy: you’re mine now Tubbo: im okay with this
tommy, a bored god: gives techno shapeshifting powers  techno, not even caring: changes into more human to pig-ishg forms as he wishes this is my life now ig
phil lets tommy do fuck all in exile bc he knows hes a god hes fine
phil: IDC IF YOURE A GOD! YOU WILL DO THE DISHES NOW YOUNG MAN! tommy: grumbles but does them
phil is the only one who can control tommy
god... tommy... with star freckles... on his human form... (as well as his god one)
tommy: f̷͛͠a̵̋t̵̒̑h̸̚e̶̓͝r̸͊ ̸̐̒i̴ ̸̅̿d̷̉͆o̵͂͋ ̵̛̆ñ̸̾ő̶́t̸̎́ w̶͆͘i̴͠s̵̓̈́h̸͗́ ̵̯͗f̶͋́ő̴͑r̷̐̌ ̶͝é̵̽g̸͊͂g̵̒s̷͂̃  phil: idc, eat your goddamn eggs tommy: pouts
tommy, despite being able to get supplies himself by fucking spawning them in: hey tubbo? we need supplies
In this au ig like if a god claims you you get a mark on your skin showing that. Drista’s would be like a green crown, Tommys would be a red and white disk (white as the outer ring and red as the center) (its different enough that if you don’t realise tommy is a god you wouldnt realise whos it is) (schlatt is the only one who never had one which shoulda been a sign dude :/)
Dream has two from the beginning, everyone else has only one, well until they meet drista. (sbi have had one since they met tommy, though they dont remember the first time they met tommy)
wait what if tommy like found them all as children one by one and later kinda pulled some strings to get them all in one kingdom. (he still joined sbi through forcing phil to adopt him)
OKAY BUT IMAGINE IF TOMMY MET TECHNO WHEN TECHNO WAS YOUNG ENOUGH TO NOT REMEMBER
tommy would hang out with baby techno and tell him stories
once he told him the story of a man named thesus
another time he told him the story of a blood god
like for example tommys first time meeting techno would be like
(for context techno lived in a shitty village and was an orphan and it was kinda a dog eat dog place, he learned how to be strong because of it)(he was young enough that he doesn’t remember this well, just like learning about the blood god and someone giving him gold)
baby techno: sighs tommy, appearing out of nowhere: oh heyyy whyre you sad? techno: jumps turning around with a knife up ready for a fight who are you tommy: im tommy! :) techno: what do you want from me! you dont scare me! tommy: whats your name! techno: i have a knife! i'll use it! tommy: of course, thats a given, but its rude not to tell people your name techno, confused: t-technoblade? tommy: smiles thats a nice name techno: so. tommy: hm? techno: why're you here tommy: i don't have a reason. im just a traveller! techno: then why hole to this terrible village! theres nothing nice here! everyone is terrible and so are you! tommy: hmmmm i dont agree techno: what are you? a child? i thought adults were supposed to know that everyone is mean tommy: mmhmm looks at the bruise on technos face where'd you get that? techno: fight. i won. i'll win against you too! so don't try anything. tommy: of course. i would never win in a fight against a blood god techno, putting down his knife a bit, stars in his eyes: blood god? tommy: grins blood. god. i think she'd like you. techno, muttering: maybe i can give the blood god some of your blood tommy: laughs yeah, she'd defenitly find you intresting tommy: here tosses techno a golden crown at techno, he spawned it in in the moment techno: whats this? tommy: a crown, thought it suit you screams in the distance tommy: huh. i need to go. have fun lil piglin. ruffles technos hair before running off towards the screaming unbeknownst to the pig the blood god was actually the one waiting for the god he met. techno: stares at the crown
Techno found a pouch of gold in his ‘house’ later that day. he didnt know who left it but it helped him get food for that night. (he kept the crown)
okay but imagine tommy not taking the war seriously at all, and only seeing it as a squabble between mortals, Like toddlers fighting
dream: SURENDER BY TOMMOROW OR WE'LL DECLARE WAR! wilbur: FUCK YOU WE'LL NEVER SURENDER AND JOIN YOUR SMP! Tommy: how cute
tommy doesnt realise that theyre serious until wilbur dies
tommy would usually go apeshit against anyone who dares messes with his humans, but what is he supposed to do when his humans are fighting Eachother?
wilbur: fucking goes insane and dies  tommy: hey- hey can you guys let me talk to wil for a sec? everyone else leaves tommy, unsually somber: sorry i didnt help you i forgot how easily breakable mortals are tommy: this time you wont die, and i'll make it so that you dont break again, okay? tommy: brings wilburs soul out of its body and enters his mindscape ghostbur: wakes up what- where am i? tommy: hi there ghostbur: who are you tommy: i go by a lot of names all, one, you, the world, the universe, god, but you can just call me tommy ghostbur: oh okay. who am i? tommy: you're name was wilbur soot. you were the son of philza minecraft and brother to Technoblade, Tubbo and myself. ghostbur: was? tommy: well you see, you died. ghostbur: oh... well what am i then? tommy: a ghost! well actually its your choice. would you like to continue your existance or fade away with your body? ghostbur: i dont want to fade away! tommy: smiles thats what i thought you'd say stretches his hand to wilbur ghostbur: grabs tommy hand tommy: lets go home
ghostbur doesnt remember that though
he only remembers the good
tommy wont let him remember the bad, what if he breaks again? mortals are so fragile
phil realises what tommy did as soon as he sees ghostbur
drista, painting tommys nails (there both in god form btw) (after wilburs death btw): tommy shouldn't you of all gods realise how fragile they are?  tommy: i know just... forgot  drista: sighs and nods i get what you mean, especially with the ones we found... they act a lot like gods sometimes i forgot they arent  tommy: ikr? wait- drista here gets drista's hair out of her face you were gonna get it on my nails, anyways, don't judge me. we all know if dream died you would turn him into a ghost too drista: smirks not if you do it first, we all know you would tommy: you say that as if you wouldn't fight me to do it first  drista: .... tommy: ... drista: both of us when he dies? tommy: nods tommy: anyways my turn to do your nails
or like tommy with ghostbur like
ghostbur: i don't like this :( tommy, a worried brother and god: whats wrong? ghostbur: everyone is mad at me and i d-dont know why- why are they mad at me tommy: theyre mad at something alivebur did ghostbur: b-but im not alivebur sniffs it hurts. i dont like it. tommy: spawns in some blue here ghostbur: whats that? tommy: its some blue! it'll help you not hurt anymore! ghostbur: how does it work? tommy: see how its blue? ghostbur: nods tommy: well its blue because it sucks up all the bad feelings! it'll help ghostbur: !!!!! ghostbur: presses the blue into his chest ghostbur: !!!!its working!!!! :D tommy: smiles good
wilbur fucking died and tommy went from annoying little brother to caring older brother
tommy just wants to help his brother :) though he doesnt realise that not letting ghostbur remember bad memories isnt good
*at logsted shire btw* ghostbur: who are you? tommy, chuckling: did you forget me already ghostbur? ghostbur: i didnt forget you! i think! you're tommy! i just... you're different tommy, looks over at ghostbur: different how? ghostbur: you're not normal are you? tommy: grins whaaaaat? you think im weirdddd? how heartbreaking... my own brother thinks im weird, this is terrible ghostbur: giggles tommy: but really, don't worry about it bur. ghostbur: you sure? tommy: yeah, dont worry about me ghostbur: smiles okay! do you want some blue anyways? tommy: giggles sure! ghostbur: grins
ghostbur isnt worried about tommy
he knows hes strong
phil having to tell tommy that he cant just not let wilbur remember the bad memories
and tommys like "what if he breaks again!" and phil hugs him and tells him to at least ask ghostbur if he wants to remember and tommys like ‘fine’
tommy: hey bur? ghostbur: yeah? tommy: do you like you're memories? ghostbur: i mean, yeah its hard not to when you only remember the good tommy, quietly: would you want to remember the bad? ghostbur: w-what brought this question on tommy: answer the question ghostbur: no- alivebur was badi shouldn't want to- tommy: but what do you want bur? wilbur, silent for a moment: yeah- yeah i do. not that i like the bad memories! they hurt... but i wish i could remember tommy: ... ghostbur: hey tommy? tommy: yeah? ghostbur, with tears in his eyes: do you think they'd be less mad at me if i could remember, maybe then i could repair my relationships, what the hell am i supposed to do when i dont even remember hurting them? tommy: what if they dont? what if you break again? ghostbur, saltily: we'll maybe i'll be able at least be able to say i know why everyone hates me tommy: i know how to get all of your memories back ghostbur, looks towards tommy in shock: you do??? tommy: nods ghostbur, voice wavering: for how long tommy: since the beginning ghostbur: and you didnt tell me tommy: i did what i thought was best. i just didnt want you to hurt anymore. ghostbur, angrily: WELL THAT CLEARLY WORKED DIDNT IT? tommy: sorry wilbur, sometimes i forget how to handle humans ghostbur: what- tommy: sighs and taps ghostbur on the forehead and ghostbur does the ghost equivilent of passing out tommy: wont hide any memories this time
ghostbur doesnt wake up, instead wilbur wakes up weither thats good or bad we'll see
wilbur, waking up with all his memories: HOLY SHIT TOMMY WASN'T KIDDING phil, who was reading beside the bed tommy placed wilbur into, which was in technos house. yes he broke into technos house with a passed out wilbur. move on.: hm? wilbur: holy shit phil: huh? yeah. wilbur: wait you knew? phil: yeah i recongnized him as soon as i saw him about 5 years ago now? wilbur: excuse me while i freak out because my little brother is an actual god
it really hits wilbur that tommy is a god later
wilbur: hey tommy? tommy: yeah? wilbur: how fucking old are you? tommy: snorts of course thats the first thing you ask wilbur: well? tommy: i dont really know the exact years since years are kind of a human thing that were invented recently wilbur: they were invented thousands of years ago- tommy: but it was around the beginning of this galaxy wilbur, softly: what the fuck
tommy telling wilbur stories about different heros and villains and different humans he met during his life.
Adsjbffsg what if Tommy made himself blonde and blue eyed and white bc thats hyow the first human he met looked like asjfhsd
and just didnt change that, despite meeting new humans, its just his defult settings.
he would totally do this tho im crying.
drista just based her human form off dream because she is his sister now. he must deal with this. trying disowning me when i look like you BITCH.
thats my take anyways later might continue this

Hello hi uh i hope you are doing well and are staying safe and sanitized during this whole pandemic, um I hope the matchup is still up, if not my apologies uh ig I'll get started :) (platonic or romantic is fine by me, I dont mind either or cuz I honestlydont know what I want heh...ya..) My name is Dioceline (any pronoun is fine by me but people usually go with (she/they), my nickname is Dio or Small as most of my online friends call me. I have been told that I'm very impulsive and funny but im also emotional and I stand up for what I think is right and know when to be serious. I usually take the lead of things if no one else feels comfortable enough to deal with it which has landed me into some trouble in the past but id do it again for my friends because frankly I love and appreciate them and I make sure they know it by drawing them things they love or write poems about what I love about them and what I find beautiful about them every couple of weeks. Im not very big on socializing in person but I'm very bubbly and eager to meet people online (my socialbattery does brain pretty fast so I I ti take a quick nap or go on YT for a bit before I can go back to being stupid), I'm shy at first in person but the longer you get to know me I start to get annoying and very touchy feely cuz I'm ✨touch starved✨. Im 5'7 and a half and I like to flex that I'm taller than most of my family because its known that Mexicans/Hispanics are short asf. I am a Capricorn but I don't really feel connected to my sign so I'll give you my enneagram and my mbti! I'm an Infp-T and my ennegram is 2 wing 1. My music taste is all over the place at all times and I listen to anything as long as the lyrics speak to me or the instruments sound good asf (guitars are my favorite instrument, any type of instrument with strings speak to my soul) but I have been listening to a lot of old rock singers/bands recently like Queen, AC/DC, Hombres G, ABBA, Roger Taylor, Bon Jovi, and a lot of other singers/bands. Now since I've been the middle child of 5 other siblings before my little brother was born I have developed a strange humor, it's very mixed and changes a lot but I adapt and go with the flow of anything as long as it makes people happy and laugh. I usually flirt in very awkward ways like throwing horrid pickup lines at friends or pulling the fuckboy face while saying that they look like the snack that smiles back. It's a form of breaking the ice with a people after ive concluded that I want them in my life cuz idk why but I do so ya (in a platonic way ofc). I tend to get a little overprotective and take the parenteral roll when I hear that one of my friends haven't ate or is being insulting and ir being made uncomfortable. Now for appearance, I smile with my eyes, have a cupid's bow and I have lip asymmetry on my left lip. I have a lot of beauty marks on my face and arms, I have dark brown hair and eyes. I'm on the curvier side, I have really big thighs and my chest is pretty big to so it makes it look like I have somewhat of an hourglass figure which is cool ig. I usually wear shorts and baggy sweaters that are 2 times to big for me, most of my clothes is black except for a couple of red and grey shirts/sweatshirts that I have in my closet. I love music, drawing, painting and pretty much anything to do with art. I also really like Chemistry/Science, English, and Philosophical talks, I like learning about the ocean and space but im to scared to actually go into the ocean and my family never really goes out cuz money issues and stuff but it's nice to see it on the internet. I also really enjoy the company of animals and plants :) ok I think that is all, sorry it was so long I tend to ramble and say things that aren't necessary. OH idk if this would help at all but I want to be a family therapist and will be joining the army next year after I graduate so I can get my degree without getting into terrible debt. Ok now I think that is all, hope you have an amazing day/night and stay safe!
Woah 😳, Why are yall so cool?
I think ima match you with....
C!Philza and C!Techno
Oh no, two protective anachists, what they gonna do
In all seriousness
These two are 100% very protective of you
One of them is always with you
Either making sure your safe
Or just making sure you dont do something to crazy
You play the guitar?
Expect to preform pretend concerts to Phil, Chat, Techno and all technos animals
If neither of the boys can be with you, philza's murder, Chat, as he calls them, would follow you from a distance
Phil would paint with you 100%
Techno wouldnt paint with you two, but he would watch
Philosophical talks with techno
But their like, in like the middle of the night
"Why do you think were here on earth"
"Woah, thats a good question"
Definitely would concern phil, when you two talk about the meaning of life out of nowhere.
They would definitely support your choice of becoming a therapist
And the military as well
Despite fighting for a government

Books “read” in 2021
List from 2020.
Previous entries: 2019, 2018, 2017
I am posting it a week early for Christmas! I am actually trying to save a couple books for next month and have a bit of a lull where I am just going to re-listen to a couple books instead of getting into a new one.
These are raked by how much I liked them rather than actual literary quality (fun garbage > boring navel-gazing). There were a lot of sequels and continuations of previous year’s series, so while I had ranked some series as ”Good” previous years, some of the books I liked the most this year were from those same series and authors.
Key: **Non-Fiction, Fiction, Mixed, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mythology
The Top 10 Favorites
**The Queens of Animation - Nathalia Holt - an inside look at how early Disney was ran and the struggle of women in animation breaking out of doing just Ink and Paint. If you have any passing interest in art history or even in the artistic-inclined it is worth a read/listen. It was a book a professional storyboard artist on Twitter recommended reading and was glad to have done so.
The Wisdom of Crowds - Joe Abercrombie - The final book in the Age of Madness Trilogy. I was also re-reading the other First Law Books along side it as well (Having Read TBI and BTAH right after Trouble with Peace came out and this time read LAOK, BSC, and The Heroes soon after this one) There is a lot of talk through out the series about cycles and how things eventually repeat itself, and it is more than interesting going back to the previous books and seeing things that the older characters said/done/were told about/warned about- coming to pass again in AOM trilogy with this Generation trying to break free of the cycle, ignoring the warnings, and most of them just repeating the past. I wouldn’t go so far to say that this is a lack of narrative creativity, because it is done really well to show how people with opposite personalities would handle the same experience and come out at the end learning a totally different message.
Star Kingdom Series (Books 1-5) - Lindsay Buroker - This is my favorite new series of this year. If Buroker’s other books are just as good, I just might have an other author to fave over. It is highly character driven, and it is a Science Fiction series that doesn’t bog people down with minutia and techno babble (it is about as complicated as Star Wars). It doesn’t take itself too seriously, it knows when to be funny and when to let the drama take center stage. The main character isn’t an action hero, he is a robotics engineer and teacher with several health problems: he isn’t always “the load” either, he can pull his weight.
Cold Moon Over Babylon - Michael McDowell - Best Horror I’ve read this year, and the book is from the 1980s. I was iffy about buying it at first, because I don’t like Scott Brick’s style of reading, but the extra Ham and Cheese didn’t hurt the book at all when it finally got near the end and it really started to get bloody and tense. McDowell liked to make his books end [BIG].
The Plague Dogs - Richard Adams - Humanity’s dark side seen from the eyes of two dogs that escaped from an animal testing lab farm. It is darker and more adult story than Watership Down. The book could easily be taught in school, it may be a good substitute if teachers are tired of teaching Lord of the Flies or Animal Farm. It brings up the topic about how animals are treated in the medical field and the dogs struggling about if they should do what humans want them to do. It would bring up the conversation about anti-science and the good/bad side of medicine (the Covid virus’ origins). Privileged man seeking vigilante justice for property damage, even tho nobody was hurt.. And there is even a “fake news/alternative facts” sensationalist journalist - so talk about not just believing everything you read and to look up more than one source.
Hench - Natalie Zina Walschots - Watch as a temp-job hench becomes second-in-command to one of the most powerful super villains. Now while I liked more of the characters in Drew Hayes’s Villains’ Code series, and I think The Ex-Heroes Series by Cline has been the more unique twist on the Super Hero Novels I’ve read/listened to so far, I did enjoy the glimpse of the “behind the scenes” on how a super villain organization is ran when it comes to having to hiring low level grunts and paper pushers. I also liked that the heroes aren’t always the “good guy” and sometimes even the villain can be the one needing justice. (I also liked the super villain’s power’s twist at the end and that the mc wasn’t ‘turned off’ by it).
The Hidden Palace - (Golem and the Jinni, book 2)- Helen Wecker - This is one of those series that has a little bit of everything tossed in and done exceedingly well. Want an urban fantasy that isn’t about werewolves and vampires? Or do you like contemporary fiction that has characters more down-to-earth? A love story that isn’t overpowering everything else around it? Like fiction from the 1800-1900′s? This is a must-read. I haven’t found any of the POV characters to be annoying, even the villain from the first book had an interesting POV. There isn’t really a villain in the second book, and it actually makes it better. Lots of gray area, more debating what is right and wrong. The main characters learn they need to adapt as their world around them rapidly changes.
**Rasputin - Douglas Smith - Mainly from letters and journals he wrote himself and from interviews with his daughter that escaped to France then to America. The long and short of it is that he suffered from bad PR, and people trying to distance themselves from the royal family when the Russian Government changed. It was “unseemly” for royalty (which were considered holy at the time) to be seen with people under a certain rank, and Rasputin was a horse farmer from Siberia before becoming a monk, so... dirt poor, and the upper-crust were scandalized and wanted him gone so made up a tooon of scandalous garbage about him. A chunk of his reputation in the current popular culture come from a few other monks/priests and occultists that hung around the royal family prior to Rasputin showing up.
**Truth, Lies, and O-Rings - Allan J. McDonald, James R. Hansen - contributor - The story behind what happened with The Challenger Disaster in the 80′s and some about what went on with Columbia 20 years later. A lot of corporate talk and government weaseling, a long with a goodly lot of engineering details. I found it highly informative and it is a good companion piece to any space race history book, showing the really gritty side of Regan-Era space travel politics and corporate secrecy.
**A Life on our Planet - Sir David Attenborough, Jonnie Hughes - Attenborough recounts his experience of over 50 years being a wild life observer and noticing how much the environment changed from the start of his career to modern day. There is no doubt on how much destruction the human population has done to the Earth. The Climate Change deniers are all living in a bubble, one that is supported by the mega companies that are tearing this world a part among themselves to get the largest chunk of the pie they can. There is only so much room on this planet, greed is destroying it for future generations.
The Really Good
The Witness for the Dead (The Goblin Emperor, Book 2) - Katherine Addison - I like the main character and it expands on the world as well.  Read it for that, not the mystery parts. The book wouldn’t have suffered from being padded into two short books instead of one.
The Fairy Godmother - Mercedes Lackey - I liked this book, but not enough to pick up the rest in the series. This is the fist time I read Lackey. I liked the trope deconstructing and how that is an actual world mechanic. I even was pointing out the tropes appearing in other works “Oh, look, the damsel falls in love with the guy that saves her from the tower just like the godmother tried to avoid happening here.”
The Sandman (Drama) - Neil Gaiman - DC comics. Easy to jump in even if you don’t know anything about Gotham. I liked most of the voice cast. Yeah, I don’t have much to say, mainly because this is an adaption from comics so fundamentally foundational in modern comics. The characters appear in other works of DC properties over the past 30 years, this is the epitome of the Dark Age of Comic books from the late 80′s early 90′s, written alongside other greats like The Dark Knight Returns and The Watchmen.
The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives in Your Home - Joseph Fink, Jeffrey Cranor - A tale of one woman’s revenge that spans several generations. This book, if longer and more fleshed out, would have been a great companion book to Best Served Cold and The Six of Crows- just with a ton more strange supernatural goings on as it is in the same universe as Welcome To Nightvale.
Two Necromancers, A Dragon, and a Vampire & Hungry Dragon Cookie Company (Unconventional Heroes, Book 3, 3.5) - L. G. Estrella - I gave the series a “Good/Average” rating last year, but it was one of my favorites, just not good enough to end up in the Top 10. It has the same reader as Star Kingdom and Kaz from Six of Crows (Fred Berman), and this series was the one that really sold me on him enough to pick up SK because of how well his line delivery has been and he isn’t going out of his way to do a bit (like from Beezer, when i first heard him). The Fire-controlling Elf is perhaps the most annoying character, it is like she has very limited dialog outside of insulting the other cast and being  walking death.
Heroes & Troy (Mythos, Book 2 & 3) - Stephen Fry - The audio books are the way to go with this trilogy. Stephen Fry wrote and read the books and he is a wonderful actor and you can tell he has a passion for the subject.
Metro 2033/34/35 - Dmitry Glukhovsky - The first one can be read as a stand alone. It reminded me a lot of The Road with how bleak it is. The second two can be followed, but you can tell there is some extra background material because a video game series was made a few years after the fist book and the next two books expand on some of the game material. On the bright side, there is a fandom for the series because of the Games (think like how The Witcher wouldn’t be as popular if the games were not very good).
Boneshaker -  Cherie Priest - Actually reminded me of Metro, but Steam Punk. Not being able to go outside because the air is poisonous, people living like rats in a cage. Fantastic machines and airships, lots of dirt everywhere and feels lived-in. A mother and son deal with the infamy of being the wife and the child of the man that destroyed San Fransisco.
Parable of Talents - Octavia E. Butler - Time marches on. While the religious white right had taken over after the economy crash, there is still hope that things will get better at the end, but change doesn’t happen over night.
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald - The vapid empty lives of the idle rich. Money can not buy true love.
Lovecraft Country - Matt Ruff - It really helped that I spent the past few years reading OLD science fiction. I am also a sucker for secret cult plot lines.
An Unattractive Vampire - Jim McDoniel - Looks isn’t everything and/or “don’t judge a book by its cover”... Elder vampires deal with problems of the modern age as well as misconceptions about Vampires in the media. Humor is decent, and the jabbing of how monsters of the past are better over all than the mass produced schlock today.
**Mycophilia - Eugenia Bone - Everything you need to know about Mushrooms and the hobby of collecting them and eating them.
Drew Hayes Novels:
Deadly Assessments & Undeading Bells - Fred The Vampire Accountant - Drew Hayes - I can’t recommend this series enough, especially if you are wanting a supernatural series but don’t want the R-rated Grim Dark (like Dresden) or to be sucked into a novel series with children protagonists.
Super Powereds: Year 1 - Drew Hayes - If I recall, this was his actual first published big novel. It was free online for quite a while. It is neat to see how much he has improved via reading this book after Forging Hephaestus, his other super meta series that he is currently working on. This one is also YA, it doesn’t feel like a YA novel because the characters aren’t high school aged, they are young adults learning how to be adults instead of a kid trying to do a grownup’s job.
The Case of The Haunted House (5-Minute Sherlock, Book 2) - Drew Hayes - One of his more grown up focused series. It is a goofy mystery series, most of the cases are Scooby-Doo level “who done it?”s, but the dynamic between Joel and Sherman is really the main draw, including the former PI that lives upstairs named Moriarty that Sherman fabricated a rivalry with.
It’s Good, but not everybody’s Cup o’Tea
The Spellmonger Series - Terry Mancore - A fantasy series written like a Science Fiction Series from the 70s-80s (machismo, women aren’t well written), lots of minutia and hard mechanics with the magic system. Min reminded me a lot of Corwin of Amber. Most of the secondary characters blend together with only some differences between them. Don’t bothering reading books that doesn’t revolve around Min as the main character. There is enough re-capping going on that you won’t miss too much.
The Name of the Wind / The Wise Man’s Fear - Patrick Rothfuss - Kvothe is a bit of a Male Power Fantasy, a charismatic asshole. Bad shit happens to him, but he comes out of it like some kind of trickster god. The story is meant to be told from the future about his past, so it might be a bit embellished, and you also know something is going to happen to him to answer why he is called the “king killer” and ended up a bartender with broken powers. Like Greek Hero/Trickster characters like Odysseus, Dionysus, and Hermes? You might be fine.
The Lost City of Ithos, The Siege of Skyhold (Mage Errant Book 4 & 5) - John Bierce - Nice continuation from the previous books. If you hadn’t read the others, there isn’t much else to say. This is again, one of those series with a hard magic system and a good chunk of the series is explaining it and how the mechanics of the world works. The main characters are now around 18 and are getting more into relationships and doing their own things and their adult character mentors are either getting killed off or are finally getting out of being their role models and/or cutting ties with them.
The Fires of Vengeance (Book 2) - Evan Winter - The First book reminded me a lot of Red Rising with out the YA vibes, the second one gets more into the political side of their society as the civil war between the sisters take more of the foreground.
Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, Book 2) - Leigh Bardugo - Vengeance is a Dish Best Served Cold... you have to be realistic about these things. Learn more a bout Kaz and the other character’s. Didn’t care for the “random last minute character death” tho near the end. The first book and this book are fine to read on their own, don’t need to read the rest of the series. Can just watch the Netflix show, I guess.
Anno Dracula - Kim Newman - A twist on both the Dracula story and Jack the Ripper. What if Dracula didn’t die via Knifed-by-Cowboy and took over Victorian England?
The Magpie Lord - K. J. Charles - LGBTQ+ book. Perhaps the closest I come to a “bodice ripper” but with two guys. Magic and Mystery part isn’t just a secondary plot point to the smexy times, and the characters backstories are actually interesting. The age gap between the characters isn’t too bad, considering they met as adults with already established livelihoods (28ish/38ish).
The Witch's Daughter - Paula Brackston - Fantasy Historical Fiction. Takes place between 1700 and 2005ish. About a witch with an extremely long life as she goes through the decades dealing with various prejudices and stigmas about being a witch in the healing profession while trying to escape from an evil warlock and frightened normies.
Mistress of the Art of Death - Ariana Franklin - Improbable Historical Fiction. MC finds herself in England as a medical examiner. Decent mystery, ok romance plot, thinking about picking up the other books.  The author’s been dead for awhile and her daughter finished up the last few books.
The Tower of Fools - Andrzej Sapkowski - From the guy that brought us The Witcher, this time taking place in Poland during the Renaissance. Witchcraft and folklore coming into conflict with the Catholic Church. It is like a dark version of The Three Musketeers in some ways, the main character stumbling into important people left and right with out meaning to.
Bastion of the Sun (Ronin Series - Book 3) - Matthew Wolf - Still don’t care about the elven princess and the storyline surrounding her, that could just as easily be a side series on itself if there was actually something with more substance going on. The rest of the cast, the new Ronin exploring the cities and meeting up with one another, makes up for it and keeps me interested in the books.
Circle of Reign - Jacob Cooper - Same narrator as the Licanius Trilogy, so it reminded me a lot of that series in tone. Brother and Sister are forced to hide after their father was framed for treason and their family was removed from power by a man wanting to be king.
Sufficiently Advanced Magic - Andrew Rowe - Labyrinth Dungeon Crawling. The unfavored second son having to “step up” after the death of the Ace Older Brother in the local Labyrinth. Attends magic and warrior school to attune the powers granted to him by the powers within the maze.
A Warrior’s Path - Davis Ashura - Warrior Clan Politics. Arsehole bully gets killed and the clan has to protect their adopted son from being executed for it.
The Twelve Plagues (The Cycle of Galand) - Edward W. Robertson - Dante and Blaze work on getting the residents of their city to safety before the great plagues really kick in. They head back into the realms in between trying to find a way to stop the chaotic entity from killing everybody.
Destroyer of Worlds (Forgotten Warrior, Book 3) - Larry Correia - This is about where most of the doubt if it is a Fantasy or a Sci-fi book really settles in. Is it magical science or sciency-magic? Ahh, Ashok... your life flips around like a leaf in the wind, never knowing where you are going to end up next.
Ex-Heroes, Ex-Patriots, Ex-Communication - Peter Clines - Super heroes during a Zombie Apocalypse. Goes back and forth between events in the past when the Plague just started (2009) and when the heroes got established to the present (2012) as the supers fight off hoards of Ex-Humans.
Villains Rule - M. K. Gibson - Could deal less with Page’s most defining characteristics are that she is fat and annoying, yeah... I’ve got it the first couple times, but doesn’t need to be brought up every time. Everything else is decent, If you wanted to make a book about trying to follow the Evil Overlord list.
The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. - Neil Stephenson, Nicole Galland - Got the book because I liked Cryptonomicon and Neil Stephenson’s writing. I am not going to read the second book because he had no part in it and by all accounts it suffers from it... Time travel done through MAGIC. It is Science Fiction, but written about Fantasy and Magic.
The Elfor Drop - R. R. Haywood - Have to like crass humor, but I love the way the characters interact with each other. The way Haywood writes people snarking and tossing insults to each other always get a chuckle out of me.  This is where they are finding out that they are being Wall-E’d.
Heaven’s River (Bobverse - Book 4) - Dennis E. Taylor - Humans are starting to chafe under the rule of the Bobs and are demanding more independence, the Bobs are also developing internal divisions regarding what to do with themselves and how to protect humanity. On top of all of that, they run into a new society of intelligent beings that could have a solution to their habitat problems.
It Devours! - Joseph Fink, Jeffrey Cranor -  I didn’t like this one as much as Welcome to Nightvale and Faceless old Woman. Giant Worm Centipede in the Desert and the cult of psudo-evangelists that worship it. If you like Dune, this is a good satire of it.
Philip K. Dick’s Collected Stories, Vol 1. - Philip K. Dick - Classic Science Fiction and Speculative Fiction. Many of these story lines have been used for decades in other works. Progressive for 1950′s, but dated for today’s audience. This is Science Fiction before Dune, Star Trek, and Star Wars.
Cinnamon Bun - RavensDagger- Lit-RPG Chosen One. The character is uplifting and different compared to the broody rule benders of other Lit RPGs. I like the concept of maxing out a class that everybody else considers useless.
Scamps and Scoundrels - Eric Ugland - more typical, morally gray Player Character. Gets down to the basics as to how the world mechanics work. I liked the mechanics behind the “spawn camper,” as well as having a “dungeon crawl” be inside a shit pit.
Castle in the Air - Diana Wayne Jones (Howl’s Moving Castle). It is a cute story, not as gripping nor iconic as the first book. If you don’t mind “Disney” levels of racism (like, Aladdin/Mulan kind of stuff) and fatphobia (fat people being treated like jokes/gross/ugly). Howl and Sophie are not the main characters this time around, don’t expect them until the second half of the story.
The Lost Stars Series (The Lost Fleet series) - Jack Campbell - I am a sucker for the way Campbell writes real time battles. This series is an homage to Arthurian legend with how the characters are named and some of the character dynamics. (It has a “rocks fall” kind of ending with 3 of the characters getting killed. My fav was one of them).
Pirate of the Prophecy (The World of Dematr) - Jack Campbell - A prequel to the Pillars of Reality books, it is ok to read alone, but Juels harps a lot about how much her life gets ruined by the sudden prophecy. It is a bit more palatable if this is read after Pillars of Reality and Daughter of Dragons.
It’s OK/Average.
Count Zero (Sprawl Series, Book 2) William Gibson - I might have liked this one more if it had a better narrator. A lot of whispering and he is using a Noir voice. I read Neuromancer a few years ago, I remember liking that one more.
The Paper Magician Series (Books 1-4) - Charlie N. Holmberg - You have to get pass the ship. The main character becomes the student apprentice of the Paper Mage, there is a 11-12 year age gap (she is 18-19ish at the start), and a good chunk of the angst in the first three books is if they should hook up or not.  The 4th book is a new main character, she likes to play soccer with the idiot ball.
The Constant Rabbit - Jasper Fforde - Some random fluke of cosmic mojo turns several animals into intelligent anthros. Rabbits become a minority scapegoat allegory for several modern human groups. Blade Runner, without the robots and cool tech.
We - Yevgeny Zamyatin - The father of modern Dystopia fiction, with a Love Triangle in the middle of it.
Gilgamesh - Unknown - Older than the Bible, worth a read for academic reasons.
The Aeneid  - Virgil - Death of the Author, so it ended abruptly. But yeah, Roman Propoganda, but it does fill in what happened to the Trojans after where the Iliad left off.
Metamorphoses - Ovid - It isn’t as boring as made out to be, if you get the right reader of the audio book. The myths with all the rape, death, and murder left intact.
Candide - Voltaire - THE tale of an Idiot of Misfortune, can see how this inspired other characters in later fiction. TL;DR -- Spends most of the book trying to save his love (which is also his cousin), going across all of Europe and South America, even landing in the Utopia of El Dorado, but wasn’t happy there bc his love needed rescuing. Once he does save her at the end, she wasn’t as pretty as she use to be and is unhappy about it... but rescues and marries her anyways. Doesn’t learn to be happy until he goes back to only worrying about the smaller things in life and embraces his life as a farmer.
Machinehood - S. B. Divya - Cyberpunk Dystopia where people work “gig” work on an “as needed” basis. Everybody lives with cameras and the internet 24/7 and depend on tips (like twitch), and pick up random jobs like web monitoring and graphic design on a whim by commission basis (think Grubhub, Uber/Lift type companies) to subsidize their incomes.Terrorists shut down the internet. There is an abortion subplot that felt tact on just for there to be conflict with one of the main characters.
The Dispossessed - Ursula K. Le Guin - Pragmatic “Virgin” Anarchist vs. Late-stage “Chad” Capitalism. Neither society is shown to be entirely for the best, though the narrative does favor the “hard working” anarchists over the “greedy, wasteful” capitalist. Book is 50% description/prose/world building, 30% talking philosophy, economy, and science, and 20% somewhat interesting biography. A by-the-numbers “critique modern society under a vale of science fiction” book of the mid-century.
**The Science of Rick and Morty - Matt Brady - A serious look at wacky science.
The Black Star of Kingston & Ember Falls - S. D. Smith - I got the first book years back... because of Bunnies. Like Redwall? You’d like this.
Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats - T. S. Eliot - a fully illustrated children’s book would be the best way to consume this.
The Beatrix Potter Collection - cute. and the introduction from the Beatrix Potter Society was informative.
Monkey King -  Wu Cheng’en - an abridged version of Journey to the West. Needs a better narrator, I wouldn’t mind finding one less abridged and translated from text older than the 1950′s.
Ivanhoe - Walter Scott - If you are on a King Arthur and/or Robin Hood kick, Ivanhoe would be a decent companion book.
A Thousand Ships - Natalie Haynes - “I really want to be Circe.” no.
**The Sawbones Book - Justin McElroy, Dr. Sydnee McElroy - You have to like the McElroys to get more than a “passable” for the book.
**Great Utopian and Dystopian Works of Literature - Pamela Bedore, The Great Courses - It is decent enough if you are wanting to get recommendations for other Dystopia works and to show the evolution of the genres as politics change over the years.
**The Romanov Sisters - Helen Rappaport - I got this mainly as a companion piece with the Rasputin book. Like... not enough charity was going to fix the government.
Walking Gods & Only Human - Sylvain Neuvel - Read the first book a few years ago, these took a while to go back on sale. They are done in an interview-style narrative. The daughter gets annoying.
**Alexander the Great - Anthony Everitt - John Lee, the same guy that read The Spellmonger books read this version. It is why I gave it a chance.
**The Borgias - G. J. Meyer - It is a history book. If you want to know the politics of Renaissance-Era Italy and there are a few names in it that get borrowed in The First Law books.
**The Celtic World (The Great Courses) - Professor Jennifer Paxton, PhD. This was the kind of book/content I was looking for when I listened to the Ancient Religion Course Book last year. It goes into more about Celtic society, speculation as to its origins, conflict with Greek and Rome, and what happened as Christianity and centralized powers started gobbling up power around them.
Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel - A. J. Hartley, David Hewson Romeo and Juliet: A Novel - David Hewson
Not a direct adaptation of the plays, they are updated with some twists and some extra “smoothing over” on some plot points. Both have a twist at the end.
Meh... Take it or Leave it.
Exo-Hunter - Jeremy Robinson - Gotta stop those Time-Space Nazis.
The Man with the Golden Gun (James Bond, Ian Fleming) - me every 5min: SCARAMANTULA!   Other than my addled brain doing Venture Bros references. It is a James Bond book: sexism, racism, and cold war politics come standard. The movie is actually better, they are practically two totally different animals.
Arc Royal - Christopher G. Nuttall - Standard War Against Alien Invaders. The underdog outdated ship becomes the best hope for mankind.
The Watchmaker’s Daughter   - C. J.  Archer - Annoying main character. The main resolution doesn’t happen in this book, only the “figure out and stop the bad guy of the moment” part. Characters aren’t interesting enough to read the rest of the series.
The Autobiography of Kathryn Janeway - Una McCormack - I like the reading of it, Kate Mulgrew reads it, but most of it would be non-canon or is already out of date (my bro reads Trek books and we talked a bit about it).
**Plato at the Googleplex - Rebecca Goldstein - it is an OK concept, especially if you never read Plato’s works before. It is simplified for modern readers.
**Storm in a Teacup - Helen Czerski - I forgot most of this book a few months after listening to it.
The WORST book of the year.
The Book of Strange New Things - Michael Fiber (DNF)  - Christian Evangelist Missionaries in Space.
