The news that Bawaal, the film starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, will be released exclusively digitally was first announced by Bollywood Hungama. A few days later, we once more broke the news first that the movie would have its direct-to-digital debut on Amazon Prime on July 21. And now, we have more inside information about Bawaal's decision to have a direct-to-digital premiere.

Our industry sources claim that Sajid Nadiadwala has a fantastic deal with Amazon Prime Video to get a direct-to-digital release of the movie. "At a time when the OTT market is collapsing, Sajid Nadiadwala secured a deal from Amazon Prime Video worth Rs. 110 crores. Everyone is aware that Bawaal is not your typical commercial movie, so the Amazon offer gave Sajid and his team the assurance of guaranteed returns. Given that the movie lacks those commercial trappings, Varun and Janhvi also concurred with this choice, a source told Bollywood Hungama.

Insiders claim that Sajid, Varun, and Nitesh are confident in the potential of Bawaal and plan to expand the movie online. The movie will actually have 200 premieres worldwide, with the world premiere taking place in Paris. After Judwaa 2 and Kalank, Nitesh Tiwari's Bawaal marks the third time Varun Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala have worked together.

On July 21, the movie will be available on Amazon Prime Video.

Bawaal, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, will premiere on Amazon Prime in October thanks to Sajid Nadiadwala.

In an unexpected turn of events, producer Sajid Nadiadwala, his director Nitesh Tiwari, and the actors Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor have chosen to release their upcoming film, Bawaal, exclusively online. It has been confirmed by insiders at the production companies that Bawaal will be available on Amazon Prime Video as a direct-to-digital release.

According to a source familiar with the project, “Bawaal is among Sajid Nadiadwala’s most ambitious films that rides on a subject that doesn’t exactly have the commercial trappings of dance and music. In the present market scenario. Sajid, who has a knack of commercial cinema, feels that it’s best to bring Bawaal on direct to digital, rather than risking a theatrical outing. He has got a great deal from digital players and decided to part ways with the original plans of bringing it in theatres,,” according to Bollywood Hungama.

Now, the movie will be available on Amazon Prime Video in October, and a formal announcement will be made soon. “Sajid got into conversation with his actors, Varun and Janhvi, and it’s only after having all been on the same page did he take this call. The entire team believes that Bawaal will win over the audience’s love on OTT. The film is a poetry in motion and is expected to reach out to an even wider audience base on digital medium, which might not have been possible with theatrical release. The idea is to go global with Bawaal and Amazon is the perfect partner for that reach,” the source additional stated .

Bawaal, a film directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, is planned for an Amazon Prime direct-to-digital release. Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor play the lead roles in the World War II-themed film.
