How Avion Technology in Chicago Helps Optimize Salesforce and Other CRM/ERP Systems
In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, every click in your CRM or ERP system matters—especially if you use Salesforce, one of the leading CRM platforms empowering thousands of businesses nationwide. Yet many companies still rely on default Salesforce record pages and ERP layouts that are generic, inefficient, and poorly aligned with their unique workflows.
With over five years of experience collaborating with developers, business leaders, and product teams, we’ve seen how custom Salesforce record pages and tailored interfaces can dramatically boost productivity. The truth is clear: default record pages are costing you time and slowing your team down.
The Hidden Costs of Default Salesforce and ERP Record Pages
Default pages in systems like Salesforce, Oracle Fusion, or JD Edwards are built for a generic user—not your business. These out-of-the-box templates often:
Hide critical information under multiple tabs
Force extra clicks to perform routine tasks
Lack workflow automation tailored to your processes
Create friction rather than flow
If your team spends even a few extra seconds per record, that adds up to hours of lost productivity every week.
Why Chicago Businesses Using Salesforce Deserve More
If your business operates in Chicago or anywhere in the USA using Salesforce or other CRM/ERP tools, you know efficiency is non-negotiable. So ask yourself: “Why use a Salesforce layout designed for another industry when my business needs something tailored?”
What you need is a Salesforce record page that mirrors your operations, highlights the most relevant data, and cuts down on unnecessary steps.
What Avion Technology Offers: Custom Salesforce and ERP Record Page Solutions

Don’t Settle for Default Salesforce Pages — Get Custom, Get Efficient
Your business is unique—your Salesforce and ERP pages should be too. Whether managing leads, service requests, or inventory, custom record pages reduce clicks, speed up processes, and boost accuracy.

JD Edwards Software and Implementation Services
As a president of an ERP consulting Services Company specialized in J.D. Edwards implementation, I had the chance to meet a lot of people who were bragging to be good JDE developer. The real life prove me that most of the time, people were lying. In fact, this is a great deal to find a real professional in this area. As a former trainer for Jd Edwards Montreal, I had the chance to teach to different people with different background and I can assure you that the most dangerous resources are the one that know how to do development in any other languages than an ERP one. J.D. Edwards developer learning curve is impressive. In order to become a good junior developer in JDE, you need at least three or four years of experiences....Otherwise... are you searching JD Edwards Service Provider?
Tumblr media
In my past ERP trainings, I explained the phases that a developer needs to apply in order to have the capacity to become one of the Pros in is industry...instead of being a Charlatan. The first point, for me, is the most important. "Integrity and Honesty". Please, say the truth. This is a new time and what if...I can propose a NEW WAY to do JDE technical consulting? Before creating my own company, I worked for a very high reputation firm in Montreal. Unfortunately, I was not involved in the hiring process but I was in charge of the development team. The bottom line was that in rush time, the so called JDE developers that were assign on my team were not good. They were able to full the HR hiring process with their level of experiences with OTHER languages and each time, they were not able to do the job. As a team leader, I was the one who was talking to the client and making specs for the team. It was so obvious to feel the lack of expertise in my new arrivals when I was explaining the work to accomplish. Absolutely everything can be done with the JDE development tools. If someone tried to propose something outside JDE, be on your guard. In fact, this is a small example of what can destroy a win-win situation between a client and his consulting services. Are you looking JDE Implementation Services?
Tumblr media
Having a high level of Integrity and Honesty should be the only way to do business. It will bring a win-win situation and the client will always turn to you when he will need high quality services for his need...NOT more. Here some successful point to remember about Integrity and Honesty in a B2B deal:
1.        Win-Win situation
2.        Confidence between partners
3.        Reliability
4.        Truth on the real needs...
5.        Respect
6.        Loyalty
7.        Credibility
8.        Success
9.        Durability
A NEW WAY to do business, the only way. Find these qualities with your staff or your consulting services and you will add tremendous value to your enterprise.

Securing The Institutions We Rely On: A Grassroots Case Study
Grassroots digital rights organizing has many faces, including that of hands-on hardware hacking in an Ivy League institution. Yale Privacy Lab is a member of the Electronic Frontier Alliance, a network of community and student groups advocating for digital rights in local communities. For Yale Privacy Lab, activism means taking the academic principles behind Internet security and privacy out of the classroom and into the real world, one hacking tutorial or digital self-defense workshop at a time. Yale Privacy Lab is an initiative of Yale Law School’s Information Society Project—which concerns itself with digital freedom, policy, and regulation—and serves as the project’s practical implementation arm. We interviewed founding member Sean O’Brien and Cyber Fellow and researcher Laurin Weissinger about their work empowering the next generation of digital rights defenders, and offer advice for those wishing to emulate their example. Yale Privacy Lab has been going strong since 2017. Tell us a bit about your origin story. Sean O’Brien: Privacy Lab grew out of workshops that we were already doing for the law school. I had been doing them in New Haven for a while for some activist groups and then got involved in the law school after some people put me in touch with the Information Society Project. They were very enthusiastic. We did some things like Software Freedom Day with the Free Software Foundation, and we hooked up with a local makerspace here, MakeHaven, which gives us a nice, fun, technical setting to be doing those kinds of events. As Yale Privacy Lab continues to evolve and expand, what are some of your latest endeavors? SO: We do digital self-defense workshops, and we also do some fun things like taking photos of surveillance devices and mapping those around New Haven. Our role internally is to help give advice and be a resource for law students, faculty, scholars, and anyone who is involved in the legal clinics. Our legal clinics at Yale Law School do a lot of high-profile work, so there’s substantial interest in private and secure communications and a real need for them. Our digital self-defense workshops are similar to the kind of information EFF has in the Surveillance Self-Defense guide, but a little different. Our take on it is very much shaped by the individuals who come in. We try not to do the standard cryptoparty thing, which is to make sure you cover a certain five tools. We’ll cover whatever needs to be covered based on who’s actually at the workshop. [Editor’s note: This approach fits the guidance included in EFF’s Security Education Companion guide.] Laurin Weissinger: We’re doing this cyber security class here at Yale Law School for JD candidates and LL.M. candidates. In the class, everyone gets a micro computer, and we run a hacking-friendly Kali Linux. It’s all about students actually understanding how computers work, and how software works—for example, how privileges and rights are being used in a Linux or Unix system. We did things like show them how network traffic can be intercepted easily and how unencrypted traffic can be read by third parties. All of this comes down to empowering students. What’s good about a lot of these technologies—FreedomBox, for example—is that they are free or relatively cheap and also enable privacy-enabled learning. If something breaks, it’s not the end of the world. At the same time, it is state-of-the-art privacy-enabling technology. Another example is the running of Tor nodes, which is very interesting for instruction, because we can show, for example, that all Tor traffic is encrypted. We can sniff it here in the network to demonstrate how it works; and at the same time, we are running relatively cheap hardware the students are familiar with. How much institutional support does the group receive to run these projects? SO: We are currently a volunteer-driven initiative, and have been since the start. That means we don’t get any direct funding from the school or any grants, at least at the moment. We do get support for infrastructure—things like printing and event hosting—and those things are obviously not cheap. All of that is coming from the Information Society Project, inside the law school. We also have had the benefit of the connections through the Electronic Frontier Alliance. That’s allowed us to reach out to other Internet freedom, anti-censorship, privacy groups here on the east coast and elsewhere to get some ideas and collaborate on thinking about these sorts of things. The free and open-source software movement has been huge in that direction as well. The Software Freedom Law Center has sent folks down to do presentations for us; and they have a close connection to the FreedomBox Foundation, which is where we get the real life support for the devices we’re setting up. Beyond that, we have the great help of the librarians at Yale and Yale Law School, specifically. Early on, we did a bunch of presentations for the law librarians and they were very concerned, as librarians tend to be, about the privacy of their patrons. So they set up a Tor browser on every single computer they have there, and they encourage patrons to use it. They came up with a training for that and all the documentation they would need for their use cases. How did you get Yale to agree to the Tor nodes? Do you have advice for other groups on that process? SO: In my perspective, the first thing that needs to be done is getting people to use the Tor browser. That removes some of the stigma behind Tor use in general. From a technical standpoint, the reason we latched onto FreedomBox is because it’s the easiest way we’ve found to graphically set up a Tor relay that is also a bridge which has a Tor hidden service where they set up an onion service for you. It’s basically a five minute installation once you get the hang of it. We’ve done workshops just recently where we’ll have a bunch of people in the room install this on virtual machines. So if you’re going to have a problem at an institution because they don’t want you to set up physical devices on their network, you can get people at a workshop to do this. LW: In the cybersecurity class I did speak about the criminal aspects: why would criminals move to the Tor network, and so on. We underline the fact that this is just a rational move by criminals. If you want to, for example, host a forum where illegal stuff can be bought and sold, you would use the most privacy-enhancing technology available, which is Tor. At the same time, there are also a ton of illegitimate websites on what I’ll call the clear web. We know that any technology that exists will be used for illegitimate, criminal, morally problematic reasons. If criminals are using things like the Tor network, email encryption, secure messaging, etc, it means that these technologies appear to be offering some level of protection. Do you have any resources that could help others who are interested in leading these kinds of projects? SO: The main resource that we’ve been using for our workshops is called Citizen FOSS (free and open-source software). It’s a play on Citizen 4 which was the handle Edward Snowden used when he was in his operational phase. What we try to do is take the actual software—but sometimes it‘s the operational concepts Ed Snowden used—and apply them as often as possible. The guide is very long and we remix it for workshops on an ad-hoc basis based on what the actual participants are interested in. What do you see as Yale Privacy Lab’s role in the wider community? SO: From the start, we’ve been very adamant about engaging with the New Haven community. Obviously if you want to be serious about this kind of anti-surveillance, anti-censorship work you have to engage in the world physically around you. So we always try to make sure the workshops are available to the community and that the resources are all Creative Commons licensed and available to as many people as possible. I think reaching out to locals in the area has been a big part of the success. It gives us a grounding outside of what can sometimes be a stuffy Ivy League setting. It’s great that the law school allows us to use their facilities, but we want to have environments as well that are welcoming and creative and have more of a community feel. Philosophically and politically, we aren’t trying to do things that concern Yale only, and we also understand that Yale itself has a role in things like local surveillance. What advice do you have for groups who want help their institutions migrate to new software? SO: We have a very strong dedication to free and open-source software, and also we have never suggested use of software that has a monetary cost associated with it. As everyone knows, the thing about FOSS is that you’re not tying yourself to a technology that has some big licensing cost. In our case at Yale—as an institution that pays for a lot of software—you’re also not tying yourself to the institutional procurement process behind that. The thing about free software is not just that it gives you all the freedom to remix and modify code, but also it’s better from a privacy and security standpoint because it can be audited. We let people know that we care about this thing called licensing, but we care from a privacy and security standpoint. It’s a basic truism that the availability of the source code—the ability for security experts to read it—means it’s hard to hide malware in there. I would say, if you’re interested in growing quickly, getting your stuff out there, being able to do it without a ton of people over your shoulder, use FOSS tools. Focusing on communication needs is really important. In our case, the law school clinics are always talking to at-risk users, so convincing people at the law school and at these clinics that they need this stuff is not very hard. In some other areas, it might be more basic. It might be, “Do you want to get away from your stalker ex-boyfriend? Do you want to not get all your banking information stolen when you’re working at a cafe?” Those might be bigger selling points. The other thing is just trying to have diplomacy. It’s important to understand that others’ concerns are based in the institutional norms that those workers are used to, rather than trying to just reflexively tell them to go screw themselves. LW: My first tip comes from my cybersecurity perspective which is: do not run just anything. Run what is the industry standard, particularly when it comes to crypto. In most cases, that will also be open-source. Rely on projects that you know are open-source that are being audited, that are being used by the industry; which means that errors and bugs will be found with a greater likelihood than they would be in random stuff. It is not just about privacy, it’s also about your security. Finally, get some support to run your infrastructure in a way that does not break the network of the institution you work with. Make sure you have as little impact on them as possible and you will be far more likely to get good institutional buy-in. The most effective digital rights advocacy is tailored to the skill sets of the organizers and responsive to the needs of the communities they serve. Yale Privacy Lab demonstrates how to build a campus community around digital rights activism, and offers an excellent example to emulate elsewhere. Are you organizing where you live? If so, we invite you to learn more about the Electronic Frontier Alliance and consider adding your group to the national network. To find grassroots groups in your area that you can collaborate with or assist, please peruse our allies page.

A new ERP solution promises efficient chain management, cost reduction and increased flexibility. Unfortunately, however, the results often fall short of these promises. A poor ROI is often due to mistakes made during implementation. By reading the white paper 10 pitfalls of ERP implementation, you can increase your chances of maximizing your return and achieving the desired improvement in quality with a new ERP solution.
Underestimating the impact of ERP implementations
Companies frequently underestimate the impact of an ERP implementation. Various studies show that less than half of ERP implementations achieve the desired results. Making the switch to a new ERP solution is more comparable to an organisational change than an ICT project. It is therefore important that you carefully consider every step in the process.
This white paper discusses the ten most common mistakes made in ERP implementation. The topics discussed include:
 ·        Data conversion
·        RFI
·        Budgeting
·        Old systems
·        Increasing your chances of success
If you would like to increase your chances of maximising your return from an ERP implementation, download the white paper 10 pitfalls of ERP implementation to ensure that you avoid these well-known pitfalls.
Challenges in ERP implementation projects for global companies
It is to be considered that the process of globalization tends to become deeper in the coming decades, given the context of greater ease of communication of brands and products provided by the Internet, allowing easy access to the commercialization of goods and services anywhere on the planet, but also by the expansion of the logistics infrastructure, which is increasingly efficient and accessible.
Taking into account the logic of economies of scale, companies that are successful in their countries of origin see the expansion of their business beyond their borders as a natural step to maintain their growth and profitability.
Within this scenario, the ERP Systems (Enterprise Management Systems) play a fundamental role in ensuring that the business processes that support the company's management flow in a standardized, optimized and integrated manner, generating and making available management information relevant to the decision making.
If the implementation process of an ERP considering only one country already presents a series of issues and challenges to be faced, when considering their use in several countries, other aspects need to be addressed in order to achieve the expected results. In this whitepaper we will discuss the challenges in ERP Implementation projects for global companies

Role of ERP in Successful Human Resource Management System

Role of ERP in Successful Human Resource Management System

Role of ERP in Successful Human Resource Management System
What is Human Resource Management? HRM is the utilization of human resources to achieve organizational objectives (HRM by Mondy & Noe) The policies and practices involved in carrying out the “people” or human resource aspects of a management position, including recruiting, screening, training, rewarding, and appraising. (HRM by Gary Dessler). Human Resource Management is a process of attracting, developing, and retaining capable and willing human resources (employees) to achieve the organizational goals.Function in the organization concerned with the staffing, training, development, motivation, and maintenance of employees. (HRM by DeCinzo/ Robins). Human resource management (HRM, or simply HR) is the management of an organization’s workforce, or human resources. It is responsible for the attraction, selection, training, assessment, and rewarding of employees, while also overseeing organizational leadership and culture, and ensuring compliance with employment and labor laws. In circumstances where employees desire and are legally authorized to hold a collective bargaining agreement, HR will typically also serve as the company’s primary liaison with the employees’ representatives (usually a labor union) (WEB).
The process of hiring and developing employees so that they become more valuable to the organization. Human Resource Management includes conducting job analyses, planning personnel needs, recruiting the right people for the job, orienting and training, managing wages and salaries, providing benefits and incentives, evaluating performance, resolving disputes, and communicating with all employees at all levels. Examples of the core qualities of HR management are an extensive knowledge of the industry, leadership, and effective negotiation skills. Formerly called personnel management (WEB).
Human Resources: The Key for Success
The intense competitiveness in the global markets demands an improvement in the results. In this context, it is critical of the management of human resources. The concept of Human Resources as a cost generator has to change into a profit generator (WEB). Human Resources is a fundamental part of the scheme of every successful enterprise, as the information received from this area needs to have a continuous follow-up and correct evaluation of the professional development and the social welfare of the workers. However, due to the large quantity of information that is handled in this area, the job is becoming more difficult every day. ERP is represented like a useful tool to help and orient the users to focus their work in the direct relationship with the staff, and to link the personal skills and aspirations of the personnel related to the objectives and goals of the company.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System definition:
Enterprise Resource Planning is defined in many ways with respect to the author’s descriptive and less for these definitions are listed below: Fui-Hoon (2002) describes Enterprise resource planning as “configurable information system packages which integrates information and processes across organizational functional areas”. ERP according to Bidgoli (2004) is defined as “an integrated computer-based system that manages both internal and external organization resources”. However Vollmann (2005) , argues that the term ERP can be defined differently depending on one’s point of view. From the manager’s approach, ERP symbolizes as comprehensive software which supports decision making along with planning and controlling the firms’ tasks. Conversely, based on the business information technology viewpoint, ERP is defined has the software system that integrates applications of various sectors like finance, manufacturing, logistics, sales and marketing, human resources and other functions in a company. This integration is achieved by the means of database in all the functions and data processing application within an organization (Vollmann, 2005). Glenn (2008) says that, “ERP is the method of integrating various functional systems of a large organization into a single system.” In precise, he defines Enterprise Resource planning as the process of merging the entire data of an organization from different departments into one single system. A well implemented ERP system builds a comprehensive efficiency across the various departments and uses a unified database to store data across many functions within an organization (Glenn, 2008). The ERP system is a kind of system that integrates management information by managing the flow of data across an entire organization. It typically implements a common enterprise-wide database as well as a range of application modules in order to support everyday business activity, for example finance, accounting, distribution, inventory management, sales, marketing, planning, manufacturing, project management, human resource and so forth. An ERP system is utilized for standardizing process and storing information as well as recalling that data when it is required in real time environment.
Evolution of ERP System:
The ERP systems evolution tightly followed substantial innovations in the field of computer software and hardware. In 1960s, inventory control was the focus of manufacturing systems. Therefore, inventory control software was designed, modified and applied in order to automate inventory control based on conventional inventory principles. MRR or Material Requirements Planning systems were created during the 1970s and primarily involved planning product or parts requirements based on BoM or Bills of Materials and MPS of Master Production Schedules. The evolution of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II) occurred in 1980s decade. The MRP II was an extension of MRP with stress on manufacturing process optimization by synchronizing production requirements with material delivery. MRP II involved area, like finance, distribution management, shop floor, project management and human resource. The following diagram summarizes the ERP system evolution.

ERP Today:
At present the primary advanced ERP vendors offering ERP solutions are SAP, Oracle, JD Edward,PeopleSoft,Microsoft Dynamics and Invensys. They focus on internet based architecture because of the raise in E-commerce and globalization of business (Garg and Venkitakrishnan, 2006). Few of these organizations are growing their ERP system with new modules and also have changed their names of ERP systems to catchy names such as ‘Enterprise Suite, E-commerce Suite, Enterprise solutions’ etc. However, today’s ERP is much more advanced than the Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II) and is famous today for non-manufacturing operations (Hunter, 2008).
In the present day SAP is the global leader in inter-enterprise software manufacturing company and leading ERP supplier in the world. To have a wide-ranging applications, SAP idea was to give customers the ability to cooperate with a common database in an organization and today the corporations like IBM also use SAP products for running their business.
The ERP’s Human Resources Module – Main Features
A business is concentrated by four productive resources namely its Land, Labour, Capital and Enterprise to produce or sell products and provide services. Simultaneously while achieving business tasks, concentration must be also be given to the people who carry out these functions jobs i.e., the organization’s Human resource (HR). Human Resources are the company’s people included in all hierarchy from employees to middle managers and non-managerial employees to the CEO and others (Jones, 2007). The management which involves the activities framed to recruit the best candidates suitable for the respective nature of the job and improve their skills and abilities by providing them good and proper support is called Human Resource Management (HRM). The five gears of HRM system are: recruitment and selection, training and development, performance feedback, payments and benefits, and labour relations (Jones, 2007). According to Kapp et al (2001), the usage of ERP’s in Human Resource Module is each core part of HR practice is explained below.
Recruitment, Retention: This ERP module used to maintain the record of college visits for the recruitment process, candidates from consultancies and their resumes; list of candidates available for full-time or Part-time work etc. This HR module can be integrated with training management to link with the initial process of the selected candidates.
Training Management: This module tracks the newly enrolled candidates who are under training process. It also maintains the course description, course availability, review course assessment, traces the training cost and fixes a training budget. The most important thing about this module is that, the e-learning training sources are connected to the employee’s desktop which can be used for requirement. Finally, ERP records the employee’s performance during the training period which will be useful to be reviewed by the training supervisors.
Payroll: Employee’s attendance and their time of entry to work and exit are entered into the system to determine the number of work hours. This module tracks, check and reports both the hours of work and respective wages of employees. It also includes the process of calculating the taxes and deducts from the salary and also garnishee wages for charitable purpose like child support and for cancer patients.
Time and Attendance: this module is integrated with Payroll module. Apart from the roles of Payroll systems, it also concentrates on the sick leave of the employees. Time and attendance are easily recorded in the system by scanning the employee barcode which is located on every employee’s identity card.
Performance: ERP performance module basically maintains the history of employees’ performance and determines the number of employees eligible for reaching a certain level of hierarchy.
Succession planning: This module highlights those employees who are well qualified at work and could be moved to the next level of hierarchy.
Compensation management: In this module, the top performed employees are targeted and supported by the compensation and a retention scheme as the planned objective of the company. This package includes retention risks, cost replacement, and noticing a successor.
Through the different features that ERP may have, the only reality is that the human resources area will be able to define the organization structure of the enterprise, representing it by the display of the organization chart, the assignment of responsibilities, functions and persons inside the structure. It will also help to manage the personal and professional information of the permanent, temporary, or former employees, as well as the candidate’s one, avoiding the delays in the daily work,. This is a common situation that most human resources departments have to face.
Why invest ERP in Human Resource Management?
Companies today are coping with few contradictories i.e. Developing innovation to run a real business value, managing IT successfully and maintaining the cost of the firm. Several companies try to minimize their IT facilities and lessening the software usages. But for the success of standardized business strategies, an effective business solution is required. If the company operates these requirements beyond the ability to understand whether these solutions support the new obligations or not can cause damage to the company. ERP is the leading example of such issues as many companies tend to invest large amounts (around billion dollars) and time on ERP implementation and practice but do not achieve a maximum on their Return on Investment (ROI) (Hoy,2008).
Benefits of investment in ERP’s Human resource management:
The HR module act as a foundation module where other modules are nourished as the decisions taken in this department affects the other functions within a firm. One of the most effective integration of HR module is with financial management module. The human resource module value is increased in the organizations by providing its linkage with the financial systems into one single database which is flexible and user-friendly to carry out payroll operations, project costing and budgeting. In addition, this integration is adaptable in the compensation program in which the ‘Automated position control’ i.e., verifying that the cost of the salary of employees should not go beyond the budget, forecasting the working hours, expenditure is included (Ashbaugh and Miranda, 2002).
According to Ashbaugh and Miranda (2002); the other strengths which stress on the worth of investing Human resource ERP systems are as follows:
ERP is replacing a standalone HR application with a single integrated approach. It supports the operation of one common database of staff information across the firm.Technology throughout the HR department is beneficial in carrying out all the HR functions like hiring; enrollment to change is employee pays or any other details.Legacy system risks are reduced. It also avoids the duplication of data entry as well reduces the manual entry and paper based works. There is an improved management in providing or reporting the information in particular for managerial works.
These systems can be used with the support of Internet and Web resources. For instance a candidate applying for a job can send his resume through the company’s website and few interview rounds like questionnaires can be answered on-line. But the HR module software does not feed this information directly into the system but they are entered manually. However, this process can reduce cost.Software upgrades are very flexible and improves the quality of HR practices more effectively.
Sometimes this application may be time consuming but it is free from errors. On the other hand, it is easier to access the detailed history of every transaction.Accountability is regarding employees’ wages is improved and accurate through domain audit levels i.e., recording activities like employee names, address, and their transactions and so on.
• Any employee can assess data as provided self-service function through web applications for instance travel reimbursement, changing personal data and enrolling for different training courses.
• It also promotes the labour management by supplying the precise information and tracking on the disciplinary actions, bid processes, complaints, labour compensation and disability programs. Along with these employee absences or cost of over time work and staff benefit cost is also tracked.
• ERP overall helps to develop employee productivity.Decision making by HR managers will be easier from the information accessed and also helps in organization-wide planning.ERP HR modules are vigorous, very protective and provide security throughout access or alteration. Security is also offered during login, recording data and logout.
• ERP is a scalable application which can process many transactions, supports many users and is adaptable in future without any difficulty. Now, HR has a powerful tool than before but still the companies lack behind and suffers from these advantages because ERP systems are not utilized in a right way (Greengard, 2001).
To initiate the Human resource systems an organization must take part in many activities. The package offered by ERP is expensive in terms of its software license, hardware, training cost; its implementation is lengthy, higher consultant cost and other internal cost of the organization. However, this best business practice has the power to redesign the business operations with the increase flow of productivity; employee management and so on which is consecutively exhibits the Return on Investment (ROI) unless and until the organization manages to implement and utilizes it in a right way by changing the work environment, its technical levels, reprogramming or repacking and give proper training on this project (Ashbaugh and Miranda, 2002). The most important out of all these is the proper management support during the entire project especially during its implementation and redesigning the business (Salvendy, 2001).
However if estimated organizations are paying worth for advanced product which has the larger number of benefits which is an addition of functionality and subtraction on risks (Ashbaugh and Miranda, 2002).
ERP, HR: cut costs:
The combination of Enterprise applications i.e. ERP and its HR module can bring up to 30% savings on the enterprise costs said by the business advisory organization: The Hackett Group. According to their report on the effective way to get a return on business complication in 2005 explains that the companies can cut their operating cost by introducing an IT system with the process of integration application like Enterprise Resource planning (Saran, 2005).
However, the companies which fail to put in practice the integrated solutions can be unsuccessful in reducing the operational, functional and other internal costs. According to the Hackett’s survey, organizations which lack to execute the IT solutions tend to spend “30% more on financial operations and about 18% more on the human resource practices”. Conversely, investing in Human resource systems can reduce the HR employees up to 35% and HR standalone operations to 27% less than that of the integrated systems (Saran, 2005).
ERP systems do not weaken the financial and business runs if the organizations have properly defined its business process and need for its implementation (Griffiths, 2002). Beaumont and Sutherland (1992) say that, “However the failure and success of this package depend on the quality of the company’s management but not the quantity of investment”.
Conclusion:
Human Resource is a vital part of every successful organization. The information received from this section is required to have a continuous flow and accurate evaluation for the professional development and for the social welfare of the workers. In this area, the job is becoming more difficult each day in order to handle large quantity information. Thus ERP is represented as a useful tool to help and make the users easier and focus their work in a direct relation with the staff, skills and aspiration of an individual related to the objectives and the goal of the company. The success of an organization depends on the capacity of the companies in attracting, developing and maintaining its key employees. Thus, it is important to have an integrated system and most favorable processes for the management of the same.
In today’s emerging business environment, large companies have no options to avoid such massive IT packages. Basically its aim is to mechanize work flow and generate cost savings. For the present competitive scenario, lagging ERP technology seems to be unsuccessful for a firm. Thus ERP systems have the possibility either to confine or expand the organization’s capabilities and lead a pathway to competitiveness.
Competitive edge develops from the company’s ability by renovating its operating technology systems to its latest kind with following business changes and reflects and improves the structure and employee relationship. It is also developed by building intellectual capital which can create a strong knowledge base for the company’s welfare. Therefore organizations using ERP as a mean for competitiveness must reorient their Human resource activities because these activities are essential in competitive platform.

History of BI
Business intelligence (BI), as we know it today, has a longer history than you might think, predating computers and other technological advances. This article gives a general overview of how BI came to be, and how it’s evolved over the years to become the indispensable practice that it is today.
A complete and perfect train of business intelligence
Let’s rewind to a time before computers. In fact, let’s go back as far as 1865. According to the article History of Business Intelligence, the term “business intelligence” first appeared in Richard Millar Devens’ Cyclopaedia of Commercial and Business Anecdotes in that year.1
This cyclopaedia collected “nearly three thousand illustrative anecdotes and incidents” of what was described as the “piquancies and pleasantries of trade, commerce, and general business pursuits.” 2
Devens used the term to talk about how a banker named Sir Henry Fumese (or in some manuscripts, Furnese) used “business intelligence” to gain a leg up on his competitors. Through careful study, Fumese gained knowledge of the political issues, risks, and general market conditions of the time.
“Throughout Holland, Flanders, France, and Germany, he maintained a complete and perfect train of business intelligence. The news of the many battles fought was thus received first by him, and the fall of Namur added to his profits, owing to his early receipt of the news.”2
From hard disk to database to data warehouse
Fast-forward to the twentieth century when BI really started to gain recognition and momentum.
Before computers, information of yesteryear was stored in physical form inside filing cabinets. With the passing of time came sophistication and advancement in storage abilities. What really started to catapult BI was the emergence of computers as new places to store the data.
In 1956, IBM invented the hard disk drive. In the early days of hard disks, they were only used in the protected confines of data centers, until they become readily available to businesses and homes via PCs.
In 1958, Peter Luhn, a researcher from IBM, used the term, and came to be known as the Father of Business Intelligence. Luhn was instrumental in seeing the connections that BI made possible, and the opportunities to adjust course and fine-tune decisions to reach strategic goals. This was — and is — the basic modus operandi of BI.
In the 1970s, various business applications came about from names like SAP and JD Edwards. These enterprise applications helped with getting data into databases. When it came to accessing data from multiple sources, there were one-dimensional reports in the early days. The problem was that the underlying data in these reports was very siloed; there wasn’t any single, consistent view of the data.
Enter data warehouses in the 1980s, which brought together disparate data sources and stored them in one place. The emergence of data warehouses was a real boon, bringing structure and order. Names like Ralph Kimball (one of data warehousing’s original architects) and Bill Inmon (considered by many to be the father of the data warehouse) were associated with data warehouses.
With data warehouses being used to access and manage data, BI had certainly traveled a long way from its days when information was stuffed away in a filing cabinet.
More vendors, more tools, and more data
In the 1990s numerous BI vendors were appearing on the scene, and BI became more commonplace. And with all the new BI vendors came a proliferation of new BI tools.
The challenge was that these tools tended to be hard to use and very unintuitive. The ordinary user couldn’t access the data, and had to rely exclusively on the IT department to get reports and other types of information. And since the underlying information and data could change rapidly, the IT department then needed to create new sets of reports in a cycle that could become time-consuming and complex.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the number of BI vendors mushroomed further. More and more companies were starting to understand the true value of the BI currency, and how it could help them.
And with that understanding and prioritization of BI in the workplace, the push came for users of all technical abilities to be able to self-serve — to access, gather, and analyze the data they needed to do their jobs. Vendors delivered — in spades. Users could now be more self-sufficient with tools that were easier to use, and that provided the functionality they required to nimbly gather data and form insights. The challenge then became balancing self-service and agility with data that was governed, secure, and trustworthy. Luckily, today platforms exist that address all these aspects.
There was also a whole new variety and volume of data out there, thanks to widespread usage of the Internet, email, Facebook, Twitter, and innumerable applications in the era of big data. Real-time data streaming emerged and become increasingly common. The most recent data from human activities, machine data, or sensors could go into data warehouses. The potential for data-driven insights and value-add was huge. Among countless other purposes, these capabilities could increase profits, detect fraud, monitor and report safety defects in cars, and even potentially save lives.
By the people, for the people
What a journey. Whether it’s data storage on hard disks or the ability for users to self-serve, what started as something that was limited to the few became a widely available commodity. BI has come a long way, and is not only more available, but more indispensable than ever. According to Gartner, Inc., BI and analytics is expected to be the top priority for chief information officers (CIOs) through 2017.3
BI might be highly democratized today, but it’s also king.
