Jane Davis is probably my new favourite character in House of Cards Season 5, played by the splendid Patricia Clarkson.

I like her even better than Claire. And am I the only one who believes that there are some slightly sexual undertones between the two?

PooleProof Wisdom Unexpectedly, my birthday celebration has begun. . . Let me tell you about two of my very good friends, @janedavis and @mandymushlin. The start of my Las Vegas birthday celebration is just a week and a day away, and they'll be joining me and others to celebrate over several days of fun and freedom. They are two exceptional friends and tremendous business women, so being around them is just pure joy for me. Now, when I invite guests to the celebration I do so without expecting gifts. Guests' presence IS the gift. So I ask people to just show up, no presents necessary. One reason for that is because I am notoriously difficult to buy for. What I want, as anyone who follows my IG knows, I buy for myself. But these two lovingly "stalked" my IG to identify what I liked and didn't have, and when I arrived home today I found unexpected packages awaiting me. When I opened them I found my favorite body scrub (I am a big believer in exfoliation 😏) and this big, beautiful Tom Ford coffee table book. Both items are just perfect. So thoughtful. So CKP. Jane and Mandy, my very good friends, you have brought me great joy today and reminded me of how lucky I am to have the friends I do. I cannot wait to see you both in Vegas and hug you for the kindness you show me and friendship you bestow upon me. Stepping back in time to February 1884, Jane Davis, a poor housewife of Lorne Place, St. Thomas St., Wells, was admitted to the Somerset Asylum in February 1884 and remained there until her death on 21st February 1910, aged 70 years. She was buried in Mendip Hospital Cemetery in Section E, grave number 339. No marker remains on her grave but she, along with all the other souls buried here will be remembered at our annual All Souls Service in the cemetery chapel 3.00 to 3.30.pm on Sunday November 5th. Everyone welcome! The history of her is filled with sadness, but through the age of digital technology she can once again be brought to life through photos and remembered. Original black and white photo permission from Peter, Mendip Hospital Cemetery© This cemetery was the burial ground for the Somerset and Bath Pauper Lunatic Asylum, later known as the Wells Mental Hospital, and later still, Mendip Hospital. Here nearly 3000 former patients and staff were laid to rest between 1874 and 1963. The cemetery is now both a nature reserve and a living memorial to the poor souls buried here.
