What defines diapora? It’s interesting to know how the Jewish migration experience used to be assumed “ideal type” by some scholars but the author quotes William Safran who has suggested a host of criteria to define the term. Most agree that catastrophic origin and forced migration are the key features that define it.

In that context I want to read Jewish American cartoonist Eli Valley’s Diaspora Boy which “analyzes the contradictions lodged within the heart of Zionist ideology and how they’re an indictment of American Jews.”

I think this may be in context or parallel to the  origin of the Hindu nationalist project where Savarkar equates Pitrubhumi (fatherland) to Punyabhumi (holy land) { Sauce: Contesting the Nation: Religion, Community, and the Politics of Democracy in India: Sumit Sarkar} ..
