So @savvysass and I were talking last night and now inquiring minds need to know:

If you’re wondering where I personally landed, it was that Joel took away his privileges…mostly because the idea of Tommy specifically teaching Ellie punk/emo songs that were popular in the 90s/00s that he knows Joel absolutely hates is incredibly amusing to me.

(We were discussing it in the context of the show, but if you’re thinking about the game, there’s a vague and not really spoilery TLOU 2 Note under the cut.)

I’m aware it’s lightly referenced in the game—Joel’s reaction just implies he doesn’t like Tommy having the guitar in his hands, not why. Is it because he can’t play, because he’s bad at it, or because Joel hates his music? He just sort of strums at the guitar with weak strings…so it’s up to us.
