Do you think Agustin passed along any of his allergies to his girls? We know Mirabel got his coordination.
That is a very good question.
I love to think each of his girls got something from him. I 100% believe his girls got at least one of his allergies. Now in the film we only see him being allergic to bees, but in my HC he is allergic to shellfish. I HC that he gave that allergy to all of his girls, but since Julieta's gift can heal any allergic reaction, they never noticed lol
I imagine they finally go into the city and eat at a restaurant, only for Agustin and all his girls to get a red rash and swell in the face a bit as Julieta watches in confused horror. Not a deadly allergy but something that is very noticeable.
He has given his girls one trait from him, Mirabel has his coordination, Isabela has his large ears, and Luisa has his nervous ticks. (I also 100% HC that Julieta snorts when she laughs and all her girls do that too.)

Thereās something about AUs that have Pepa āadoptā Mirabel that doesnāt sit right with me. Donāt get me wrong, Iām sure sheās a great tia, but these fics really do beg it considering we barely got any interactions between the two in the filmā¦ and the interaction we did see between them implied that Mira was treading on eggshells with Pepa. (Again not trying to bash Pepa- I love her and she was clearly having a long day bless her).
Not only that, but said fics would imply that Julieta failed Mira by not sticking up for her enough, which is fair TO A CERTAIN EXTENT. Could Julieta have been more attentive to her daughterās worries? Absolutely. No parent is perfect. But to say that Julieta isnāt the type to stick up for her daughter is a bit of a stretch. We see at the beginning of the movie that Julieta tells Alma to be easy on Mira. Again, could this have been more assertive? Of course! But itās SOMETHING. She becomes more assertive later on in the film, saying āMama youāve always been too hard on Mirabel,ā showing how sheās gradually learning to stand her ground more. Not only this but Julieta is just the most loving and affectionate mother EVER (AY TE AMO COSA LINDA š©ā¤ļø); so I donāt think Mira would ever feel unwanted or totally angry with her mama because she never fails to tell her how much she loves her, gift or no gift.
Iād also like to add that I see no issue in Julieta healing the townās people despite them ostracising Bruno. Sheās the makeshift doctor of the encanto and just like a regular doctor she canāt hold grudges or biases. Maturing is realising that this doesnāt make her any less of a sister (Iād also like to think that while she still heals the fkers she makes the arepas and buƱelos taste awful lmao).
Now back to Pepa: not once in the film does she defend Mirabel. Iām not saying this to bash her but to show how these said fics are not backed by canon. I think we have this notion that Julieta is the passive, submissive sister while Pepa (due to her feisty nature) is more assertive. But I donāt think this is necessarily true seeing as Pepa also cowers to Almaās reprimands.
Maybe Iām ranting because my own mum is like Julieta: sheās overly affectionate, calls me cute pet names and is overly protective (and yes I do have the same reaction as Mira lmao). But at the same time my mumās weakness is her own mother; there are times where she cowers to her pressure and yeahā¦ I wonāt lie it is frustrating, because my mum is also 50 and sometimes I WANT HER TO STAND HER GROUND GODDAMMIT (lmao). But regardless of this, my mum is the best mum I could ask forā¦ and I feel like Mira feels the same way about Julieta.
So yeahā¦ letās let Julietaās kids be Julietaās kids and Pepaās kids be Pepaās kids while also letting them be the best tias lmao š
PS: if you genuinely enjoy AUs that have Pepa adopt Miraā¦ I- guess I donāt have anything against you ššš½š
