Did Shiva have any daughters?
Yes Shiva has at least two daughters, described in Shiva Mahapurana (Rudra Sanhita, Sati Khanda), Padma Mahapurana, and other Shastras, and worshipped in Hindu communities.
Shiva’s best-known daughter is Ashokasundari, also named Bala Tripurasundari, Lavanya, Anvi, and Viraja. She is a Goddess of trees, gardens, harmony, devotion, beauty, the alleviation of sorrow, and also Goddess of salt. She is also associated with Kinnara spirits. She is especially worshipped in Gujarat and neighboring areas, where various Vratas are observed in her honor. She married a mortal man, and had a hundred daughters and one son.
She is also widely worshipped in South India as Bala Tripurasundari. We worship her in my local temple, and I have also seen her being worshipped in temples in Tamil Nadu. My Guru also teaches about her, and she appears in various Shakta scriptures of the Shrikula tradition. The charming story is told of her that when she was only a small child (six or nine years old I think, I forget the exact number), her mother Lalita Tripurasundari was preparing to go to war against an army of thousands of demons. Little Bala insisted that she was fully educated in the arts of war and she wanted to come fight too. Her reluctant mother eventually allowed Bala to fight in the battle, where this brilliant divine fireball of a little girl fiercely slew thirty demons.
Another daughter of Shiva is Jyoti, also known as Jwalamukhi (Blazing Face) Rayaki, and Raka, Goddess of light, grace, and the full moon. She is worshipped in many temples in Tamil Nadu as well as North India. I have seen her temples in Nepal. She is worshipped as Raka in the Vedas.
Some (particularly in Bengal) say that the Goddess Manasa is a daughter of Shiva. However the Shastras contradict this, and I personally do not believe it. I actually have my own theory about where this idea started.

The Nath Yogis
From: Embodying the Formless: Spiritual Practice in the Nath Sampraday
Photography: Sriram Sabhapathy Curation and Captions: Kartikay Khetarpa Source: Sahapedia
The Nāth Sampradāya today comprises an order of renunciate ascetics and a householder caste, both of which trace their lineages to a group of nine Nāth gurus headed by Ādinātha (“First Nāth”), who is identified with the god Śiva. Next in most lists of nine Nāths comes Matsyendranātha, followed by Goraksanātha (Gorakhnāth), who is ̣ said to have founded the Nāth order of ascetics. he earliest references to the Nāth ascetic order as an organized entity date to the beginning of the 17th century, but its irst historical gurus, Matsyendranātha and Goraksanātha, lived much earlier, probably in the 9th and 12th centuries, respectively, and during the intermediate period there are numerous references to both ascetic and householder Nāths in texts, inscriptions, iconography, and historical reports.
Tumblr media
"An idol of Gorakhnath at the Jwalamukhi Shaktipeeth in Himachal Pradesh. Perhaps the most important figure in the tradition, Gorakhnath features in many popular Hindu legends. According to one such story, which is often connected to the origin of the sampraday, he is said to have ‘saved’ his guru Matsyendranath (who is believed to have been a direct disciple of Shiva) from the land of women where he gets entangled in worldly pursuits. Gorakhnath, his disciple, eventually rescues him and exhorts him to return to his original renunciant condition, setting up the Nath sampraday in the process."
Tumblr media
"A Nath yogi at the Shri Gorakshnath Mandir (Barah Panth Dalicha) at Pushkar. Pushkar is an important center for the Naths with separate mathas for both the ascetic as well as the householder branch of the sampraday. A mela or festival is organized here every year on the Kartik Purnima (full moon of the Kartik month of the Hindu calendar) which is attended by hundreds of Nath ascetics travelling from all parts of the country."
Tumblr media
"Shrines to local folk deities at a Nath matha in Pokhran. Nath mathas can either be panchayati (communal) or niji (private). The panchayati mathas are centres for the ramta ascetics to congregate on festivals of importance and for elections of leaders. They are much fewer in number in comparison to the niji mathas which generally come up around the figure of charismatic Nath ascetics and have an independent mode of functioning. In Rajasthan, apart from gurus and deities associated with the Nath sampraday, such mathas also often house shrines dedicated to local heroes and folk deities."
Tumblr media
A depiction of the Navnaths and the 84 siddhas at the Guru Gorakhnath-ji matha in Myajlar (Jaisalmer). The Navnaths are revered alongside the 84 siddhas (an archetype that in some sense symbolizes all individuals who are able to achieve spiritual perfection in their lifetime).
Tumblr media
"A defining attribute of Nath ascetics are the large round earrings that many of them wear. Also known as the darshan mudra or kundal, these earrings are worn through the cartilage (not the lobe) and can be made of wood, horn, gold, silver or any other material preferred by the yogi. The ear-splitting ritual is performed only after a Nath initiate has spent considerable time as an apprentice. Comparable to a second birth, it is also treated as testimony to the initiate’s spiritual perfection.'
Tumblr media
"A Nath yogi working on preparing the seli."
Tumblr media
"The Naths in Rajasthan are said to have sustained a flourishing relationship with royalty who often bestowed land grants and other munificient giftson them in regard for their supernatural powers. The lavish interior of the Mahamandir is an indication of this."
Tumblr media
"This is also the time when the ramta Nath ascetics travel to the temple. Hundreds of them gather at the Gorakh Dibbi which is a separate section of the temple governed by the Naths. A special religious ceremony is performed here at this time of the year."
Tumblr media
"A Manganiyar family in Kanoi (Jaisalmer) sings from their repertoire of Nath bhajans. Bhajans and kirtans are an important part of the devotional life of the Naths. In Rajasthan, while Nath bards themselves perform the epic tales of their ascetics, heroes and kings, on many occasions other communities, including the Muslim Manganiyars, are also invited to Nath gatherings and mathas to sing from their repertoires, which can relate either to the Nath sampraday specifically or to the larger nirgun bhakti tradition in the region."
Tumblr media
"Amolakhram ji, an elderly from the Meghwal community, recites bhajans associated with both the Sant and the Nath traditions. As he sings, he plays the tandoora (an instrument akin to the veena) with his right hand, and a jhinjha (wooden hand cymbals) with his left. The Sant and the Nath traditions draw from as well as compete with each other in the Rajasthani public sphere. While both tend to emphasize nirgun bhakti, one can often also come across songs that are written as dialogues of one-upmanship between a prominent Nath figure like Gorakhnath and a prominent Sant like Kabir. Where the loyalties of the singer or the patron lie is what generally determines the outcome of such a parley."

Wo kagaz ki kashti
Sar jhukaoge toh patthar devta ho jayega

Phoolon ki tarah
Mujhko yakeen hai
Raat ankhon mein dhali
Tera chehra kitna suhana – Video song
“ (non video)
Chulle aag na
Tera chehra hai aaine jaisa
Gum soom ye jahan hai
Tum hamare nahi toh kya gham hai
Khamoshi khud apni sada ho
Bebusi jurm hai hausla jurm hai
Rishta kya hai tera mera
Bahut pehle se un kadmon ki aahat
Jawan hai raat saqiya
Kainat chale
Wo nahin mila
Apni marzi se kahan apne safar ke hum hain
Uske hothon pe kuch kapta reh gaya
Aadmi aadmi ko kya dega
Mitti da bawa
Pyar ka pehla khat
Der lagi aane mein tumko
Ishq ki dastan hai pyare
Umar jalwon mein basar ho
Bas ek waqt ka khanjar
Mare kareeb na aao
Koi dost hai na rakeeb hai
Teri berukhi
Kaun ayega yahan
Tu ambar ki ankh ka tara
Jao ab subah hone wali hai
Mohabbaton mein
Manzil na de chirag na de
Yeh mojiza bhi mohabbat kabhi
Parakhna mat parakhne mein
Ek brahman ne kaha hai
Jis din se chala hoon
Main na Hindu na Musalman
Mai rahe meena rahe
Uski baaten toh phool hon jaise
Koi samjhega kya raaz e gulshan
Chand ke saath kai dard purane nikle
Tere qadmon pe sar hoga
Ye peenewale bahut ajeeb hote hain
Baat niklegi toh phir door talak
Zindagi kya hai
Aap agar in dinon yahan hote
Saun da maheena yaron
Na keh saki bahar
Din aa gaye shabab ke
Tamanna phir machal jaye
Rone se aur ishq mein bebaak ho gaye
Jawani ke heele haya ke bahaane
Kal chaudhvin ki raat thi
Aap se gila aap ki qasam
Dosti jab kisi se kee jaye
Shaam se aankh me name si hai
Main aur meri tanhai
Muskurakar mila karo humse
Fasila to hai
Hum mein hi thi na koi baat
Dekha jo aaina
Zindagi kya hai jaanne ke liye
Aap aye janab
Sare pindich pyare

The Jwalamukhi Temple in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh is one of the most revered places in the region. It is located around 35 km south of the Kangra Valley in the lap of the Shivalik range and is dedicated to Jwala Devi (the deity of the flaming mouth). The legend of Jwalamukhi Temple relates to Lord Shiva’s wife, Sati. It is believed that Jwalamukhi Temple is the place where the tongue of Sati fell. Here the goddess is personified as tiny flames that burn through the chasms in the age-old rock. At this place, several flames continue burning day and night. According to the devotees, the goddess manifests herself in a blue flame fed by natural gas that shoots out of the rock. It is recognized as one of the 51 seats of Shakthi Peeth. The construction of the temple at the Jwalamukhi is credited to Raja Bhoomi Chand, a great devotee of Goddess Durga. In his dream, he is said to have seen the location of the temple. It also appears that Feroz Shah Tughlaq paid a visit to the temple on his way to Kangra. He was prompted simply by natural curiosity to see the flames of Jwalamukhi. Another story associated with the temple is that Jwalamukhi Temple is that once Mughal emperor Akbar covered the flames with thick metallic plates and yet the flame reappeared through the plates. He visited the temple with his wife Jodha Bai and was impressed at the phenomenon of shooting flames. In the center, there is a hollowed rock over a primary fissure of flames. This one is regarded as the mouth of the Mahakali. Flames emit out from several other points in the pit. They are nine in total and represent the different forms of the goddess Saraswathi, Annapurna Chandi, Hinglaj, Vindhyavasini, Mahalaxmi, Mahakali, Ambika, and Anjana. Many people from across the world come to visit this temple and attend the famous artis of this temple. This temple surely is one of the most revered mysteries of India that continue to intrigue the interests of believers from all over the world.
