To see Darius having a dinosaur obsession for fun to become a coping mechanism is really touching. In CC and definitely S2 CT. You can see Darius doesn't obvious have time on the island to observe dinos when he's trying to stay alive but when they give us some scenes where the pressure is on or he's scared he goes to talk about his love for them to get his mind off of anything.

For example in S2 CC Darius had a nightmare about Ben and his dad and Yaz was the one to wake him and asked what he wanted to do to distract himself. He went immediately to the dino fact area to learn more and take his mind off of Ben and his dad. They could've walked, talked or other. But going to learn about them is his favorite thing to do and it makes him happy and distracts him. Kinda like in CT S2 this season Darius wasn't really social as he usually is but he tired to be he was mostly sad. But we see him going to the dinos and suddenly being extremely happy and same with dinosaur facts.

Like how Zayna knew everything too and pointed out how he was full of himself for these facts ( I don't remember fully what she said so correct me if I'm wrong) but after watching it again I realized he did this to the others too. To get their mind off of things when something bad happened. And he was doing the same thing with Zayna because he didn't want her to be stressed out. And he really tried to connect with her though the facts which is adorable.

As a kid when I was stressed out or sad I would get out this big book I had on dinosaurs and read it to distract me and help me calm down so seeing how they used his favorite thing in the world to help him with his issues is really sweet.

After everything he has been through he still gets so happy and goes back to talking about them.
