All Is Found: Cold Secrets Deep Down
Spoilers
This post F2 story of Frohana and the KRAKEN is beautifully written with its lovely descriptions of nature and that 19th century sea wolf aesthetic. There is also a nice moral of animal rights. It also has Olaf vomiting snowballs(he blamed Elsa for creating him like this) and the usual Frozen-verse horrible naming for Arendelle's neighboring lands.
Some quotes:
Tumblr media
This story likes to emphasise Elsa's special connection to Nature and the Water Element specifically
Elsa, of course, was more than happy, to be near the wild water
You're no stranger to the sea
[]Her magically gifted sister felt such kinship with the water
If it involves nature, she seems more than capable of taking care of herself
She'd fought the Dark Sea, eventually made peace with it, she knew Ahtohallan like an old friend.
She wasn't alone here. She had an ally. [] She called the Water Nokk to her.
It was just Elsa in her element, accompanied by a spirit that seemed to understand her, that almost read her mind as they worked in tune
There was a moment when Elsa silently prayed Nokk to run faster, and he obeyed.
As this story is about Frohana's ship encountering a white kraken, Elsa finds herself literally sensing its feelings, feeling sorry for it and eventually saving the sea creature from being harpooned by the ship crew.
The Kraken's tentacle again appeared, sweetly brushing across her cheek in thanks. Elsa reached out to touch it in return
At the end, when Anna and Kristoff were hugging each other and looking at the land, Elsa was standing aside and looking at the sea. She and the Kraken waved each other to silently say farewell.
This is its home, where we are trespassers. This is not a place we claim as our own. I want this are marked up on a map so that no other ship might accidentally strike the beast and end up with unnecessary loss of life
If you don't understand something, it will always seem dangerous. I know this better than anyone. The kraken didn't come here for a fight. This is its world, not ours. There's so much out there that we don't know about. It deserves to live its life just as much as we do
I know word of my powers has spread, and the stories have something grown in the telling
Landing neatly on her feet as only an ice queen could
Elsa can rule the liquid water
She sent a stream of water behind her[]
Tumblr media
Another interesting moment in this story is Elsa's title. If in the "Engaging Anna and Kristoff" Elsa has been called "Queen Elsa"(referring, as we may see later, either to her status of Snow Queen or out of habit. There's no consistency) here in the "Cold Secrets Deep Down" it's stated that she's not a queen anymore. Anna calls her "a princess of Arendelle", the Capitan calls her "Your Highness".
The people of Liljeby will see you for what you are: a princess of Arendelle
"With superpowers!" Olaf piped up, "A super princess! Superprincess?"
Anna often wondered if Elsa minded that she was no longer queen [] She knew that what Elsa wanted the most of all was freedom — the freedom to be herself and explore her powers and the world around her
With all due respect , Your Highness, we should kill it
Anna, rebuking the stubborn Captain, addressed only herself as the queen
"I don't like it—" Captain Jens began, "But the Queen of Arendelle does," Anna reminded him.
Tumblr media
Elsa wears a new traveling costume for the visit, not the Spirit Dress.
Elsa looked down at her heavy traveling dress and tall boots
Elsa's powder blue dress shared the same flowers along the hem, though her tiara was much smaller.
Tumblr media
We never back down from a fight(said Anna)
"Or a sunken shipwreck?" Anna asked, an old sadness in her eyes
Snow Sisters moments
The desperate instinct to call out to her sister(said Elsa)
Anna stood and put her arm around Elsa's waist[] Elsa moved a lock of windblown red hair out of Anna's face
And luckily, Elsa knew exactly what to do
Kristanna moments
I go where Anna goes
Courageous Kristoff would dive right back down to fight for his love
Kristoff watched, feeling helpless, his heart in his eyes. "Let me have her," he said, laying her down on the bottom of the rowboat as he pressed his mouth to Anna's blue-tinged lips
"Anna!" Kristoff pulled her into a bear hug, her hands curling around his middle
Now I only have to worry about one person(said Kristoff)
Tumblr media
Foreign Affairs with the Southern Isles go
"That ridiculous diplomat from Southern Isles thought you were made of ice, remember?" Anna chuckled, "He brought a fur coat, just in case."

present
elsa fled to elias after her coronation. after a heated argument with her sister her powers were revealed to the citizens of corona.
since coming to elias she made friends with hades. elsa was unaware of his alliance with malfiencet. even when the monsters attacked she still sided with him finding a kinship in both of them being misunderstood. the god helped her with her powers. hades helped elsa realize there was beautiful in her magic not shame. she grew confident enough to remove her gloves.
her friendship with jack has also made her feel less alone in the world given his own ice powers.
her powers are still hidden from those she’s not close to. while elsa is more comfortable with her ice magic she still fears how others will react to her.
there is still so much she has yet to see and do after being hidden away for years. for the first time in her life she’s happy. as much as anna wants her to return to arendelle and be queen, elsa is content with the life she’s forging in elias.
since elsa was isolated for so many years and the gates of the kingdom were closed no one would know of her royal status unless they were royal themselves or lived in norway.
as for the mickey vs maleficent debate ??? because of her connection with hades … girly might side with maleficent
past
tw: elsa’s past mentions parental death & trauma.
born on the winter solstice to king agnarr and queen iduna, Elsa, was gifted with magical powers—the ability to control ice and snow—as a reward for her mother’s heroism when saving agnarr when they were teenagers. these powers would not manifest until she was three. Iduna was unaware of the origins of Elsa’s powers, but believed that they were born out of love and thus a gift rather than a curse since she was born from the union of an Arendellian and a Northuldran. She accepted her daughter’s uniqueness and correctly believed that Elsa was a gift from the forest’s spirits and born with her powers for a reason.
for years elsa used her powers mostly to entertain her younger sister anna. the two were close as can be. all was well until one night when elsa was merely eight years old she accidentally struck anna while playing with her. she struck anna in the head and knocked her out cold.
her parents sought help from the trolls. paddie, the shaman was able to cleanse anna of the magic, which included memories of elsa’s magic.
elsa was traumatized by the events. she almost killed her beloved sister.  after that night elsa was locked away in her room to keep herself safe but also anna. her father gifted her gloves that helped suppressed her powers. that’s where her mantra “conceal, don’t feel, don’t let it show” came from. for years elsa was distanced from others but instead of powers getting under control suppressing them only made them more unruly.
despite wanting elsa to conceal her powers, agnarr was optimistic that his daughter’s would learn to control her powers. her isolation was only temporary, however, the king and queen would never see the day elsa left her room. on the way to the celebration of the return of the lost princess in corona, the king and queen died. their ship was sunk due to extreme weather. distraught by their death, elsa lost control of her powers. she didn’t attend their funeral and after that elsa further isolated herself from anna.
three years after their passing elsa came of age to become queen of arendelle. it was the first time the gates would open to the public. it was the first time elsa would interact with anyone outside of her parents since she was eight. it wasn’t just the kingdom of arendelle but other neighboring kingdoms.
the night was going well. elsa even reunited with anna. all the worries she had began to melt away that is until her sister asked for her blessing to marry prince hans of the southern isles. elsa insisted that anna could not marry a man she just met. the two begin to argue until elsa says the party is over and the gates be closed immediately. of course anna only continued to push which not only made elsa anxious she grew overwhelmed with frustration to the point she accidentally unleashed her powers on anna and the guests. horrified by what she had done and fearing how people would react to her, elsa fled arendelle until she found herself in a city called elias.
future
elsa hasn’t had her ‘let it go’ moment yet so i would like to see that. she’s grown more confident yes but she hasn’t let go of anything. she still harbors a lot of anxiety and has yet to let her powers be seen to the public.
in the future, i want elsa to find out about the enchanted forest and her being the fifth spirit. eventually she’d be called forth to Ahtohallan and have her show yourself moment.
she would discover the truth about her parents, her family’s past and ties to the enchanted forest and know that her parents did love her. she would want to help bridge the Northuldra and the Arendellians.
i want elsa to heal from her trauma and realize she is not the monster she believes she is. she was a mere child who should have been given guidance instead of hidden away. she didn’t know any better.
like in frozen 2, she would give arendelle over to anna and leave to protect the enchanted forest. there she would find a sense of self and freedom.
i would hope she mends her relationship with anna. her mother knew that if anyone could help elsa with her powers it was her sister. healing will allow her to create a family of her own and hopefully do better for her kids than what she was given.
she has two children in the future: tzeitel, her daughter gifted by the water spirit and lachlan, her son gifted by the fire spirit.

Warning - Written for Elsamaren Summer 2020
@wintermoonqueen
AO3
Her mother’s voice was smooth as silk, and in the billows about her, the moon-sheened blankets with their hues like waters in an icy cavern – some rose-tinted, some blue, aurora-like, shining, dim, as the luminescence of the cavern’s walls – little Elsa saw the tumble of the river. It glided smoothly with her mother’s voice, ruffling with the playful inflection of tenderness like the ruffles of bedsheets and blankets, until the lyrics belied the silken tone and Elsa was in darkness. By that point, sleep was already settling over Elsa with its own form of darkness. Her mind could hardly process the darkness of the lyrics, the darkness of the waters swirling in the lower depths, but that other darkness – darker than sleep – subconsciously slipped into her heart…
“Why do lullabies always have to have some terrible warning in them?”
And it wasn’t just lullabies...
Never leave the path. Never turn the key to behold Bluebeard’s wives, their blank heads dangling from gashed necks, blood blooming over their chests like deathly flowers, the blood undried to dye the key, still flowing as though the corpses might yet choke and rasp in death-agonies that have already come and gone, as though their lifeless eyes might yet bulge and plead, blood oozing and misting the pearliness of their whites and making them to weep… weep to clear the mist of blood that will never be cleared, cannot be cleared, because there are no tears left in them to weep with, no voices left in them to sob and choke on their own life-giving blood… It is your fault for turning the key, little girl, young woman, young wife. Your fault. Those tears that will never flow weep for you, not in kinship, but in accusation, for the moral is sharp as Bluebeard’s blade…
Tears…
She came in, but stood too close to the fire, so that her old rags began to burn, and she was not aware of it. The boy stood there and saw that. Should he not have put the flames out? Is it not true that he should have put them out? And if he did not have any water, then he should have wept all the water in his body out of his eyes, and that would have supplied two good streams with which to put them out.
Elsa had wept all the tears in her body at the age of eight, wept them over her sister in anguish, but the pretty streams did not extinguish the flames… and so she kept on weeping, weeping as a husk, broken, too many tears at such a young age, too many, broken, each sob racking her body, her pearly bones – if tears cannot spill, blood can – spilling like from the vacant eyes of Bluebeard’s wives…
She took the morals to heart, more to heart than was humanly possible. Your fault, little girl, young woman, your fault, your fault. Be the good girl you always have to be…
Gloves clung tightly. Don’t leave the path.
Don’t do this, for the sake of others. Do this, for the sake of others. Don’t, do. Don’t, do. Like the blows of Bluebeard’s sword shattering her skull.
Gloves fluttered heavenward atop the North Mountain – and for once, the good girl leaves the path, for once, the good girl refuses to submit to the moral and turns the studded sword not just on Bluebeard but on Perrault as well, defiance in its brilliance as she swings the saber back…
The siren-song guided her like a lullaby, but when she followed, she followed for herself, for answers – and when those answers showed her that the path-makers were hewing a path for her before she was even born, weaving her agency into their design – a gift, but for whom? for herself, yet unborn? no, for mama and papa – and if for her, then they knew who she was before she knew herself, then the declaration they were guides for her own agency and not determiners rang as hollow as the echoing reverberation of her icy gasp in Ahtohallan, trembling like a death-rattle in the bloody chamber… So many voices in authority that declared directly or indirectly that they knew her better than she knew herself, knew what was best, it will all work out in the end, just follow the voice as it soothes you, be the good girl…
But the voices all sang out in good intention, surely?
Good intention? Good intention still weaves gloves, good intention still declares, “Conceal it, don’t feel it,” as though the “it” were the saving grace, the magic word that absolves and puts the blame on you, your fault, little girl… as though the misguidedness of concealment, of not feeling your powers, is not still rooted in the words…
There’s a path for you, little one, and this time you need to be grateful for it.
Well, now they know! Let it go!
Had she cringed in Ahtohallan when she saw herself on the North Mountain?
Had she really?
Maturity brings perspective – and yes, perhaps there was something of the exuberance of youth in her then, but… what in that exuberance was bad?
There was defiance on her lips upon the mountaintop.
With the coils of destiny about her like the shackles she splintered before smashing the dungeon wall and emerging upon the whirlwind of the frozen fjord, that defiance sang from her more strongly than the countless voices of the chorus, not a voice from without reaching in but a voice from within resounding…
The good girl leaves the path and makes a home for herself in the woods, Bluebeard’s own sword at her back, slick with his blood…
She finds a companion, skillful with a staff, and together, they settle in a goahti. But neither sword nor staff need they use against wolves, for wolf-smiles are less smug than the compilers that conjure them. Wolves-as-written are not wolves of the woods. Not even are they wolves of Arendelle. They are Morals of men pressing the orality out of things with their printing presses, that is all.
And when a child came to them and they set her in a crib Honeymaren carved with her own hands, Elsa and Honeymaren’s voices twined in softer songs.
Elsa had grown up in fear, fear ingrained that it took her years to unlearn.
And even as she unlearned it, the shame lingered so that she cringed at her first moment of defiance.
So entrenched was it that the shadows hung even upon her exultation.
Her daughter would grow up in liberty.

In Frozen 2, there are some callbacks to hit predecessor Frozen, some of them done in the form of crystalline memories Elsa sees in the Ahtohallan. The film reunites the voice talents of the first movie, including Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff, and contains little nods to jokes and story elements from Frozen. In one scene, Elsa sees actual visions of moments from her past with the help of a magical river, the Ahtohallan.
The second film introduces new story elements, expanding the mythical design of the Frozen universe to include a tale the princesses' parents told them as children. Their mother sings them a song about a magical place "Where the North wind meets the sea, there's a river full of memory," and their father tells them of the indigenous people to the north, the Northuldrans, who live in an enchanted forest beyond the borders of Arendelle. King Runeard, the girls' grandfather, made a treaty with the tribe by offering to build a dam. A fight occurs for unknown reasons, and the king is killed, leaving the kingdom to his son, who is rescued from the fray. Years later, Elsa goes on a quest to discover what happened to anger the forest spirits, and she eventually comes to the very river full of memory that her mother spoke of, a place called Ahtohallan.

In recent years, the Disney company has utilized self-referential humor and meta-jokes in an effort to move into the future while protecting their brand from the past. Jokes in Frozen like, "You got engaged to a man you just met?" and "If you start singing, I'm gonna throw up," in Moana act as a recollection for older fans, reinventing and critiquing all at once. The scene in the enchanted river Ahtohallan acts in a similar way, connecting the old with the new in an inventive plot device that rounds out the story with revelations while at the same time effectively using nostalgia to remind fans of the moments from the first film that made the story and characters memorable.
Tumblr media
The giant snow monster Marshmallow was created when Anna and Kristoff attempt to appeal to Elsa in her ice palace. After her sister and her friend refuse to leave, Elsa erupts in anger, summoning a giant snowman to chase them away. Marshmallow tosses them from the palace and pursues them down a cliff, telling them not to come back. Marshmallow mirrors Elsa's then-frozen emotional state and desire to be isolated from the world. The beast is not wicked but obeys Elsa's wishes to her detriment. He proves himself a gentle giant in the end with a post-credits scene that illustrates his softer side. In the river, an all-ice version of Marshmallow appears to Elsa, smiling placidly and humming to himself, signifying that she has reconciled with the dark moments of her past.
Tumblr media
One of the first visions Elsa sees in Ahtohallan is the childhood moment when she first creates Olaf the snowman. She and Anna are children playing, and Elsa conjures the little snowman out of thin air. Elsa crouches behind Olaf, making his arms reach out to Anna, saying "I like warm hugs," a phrase he repeats later in both Frozen and Frozen 2 once Elsa gives him life. The memory is one of the last Elsa has of her and Anna's childhood together before things were complicated by her parents' fear of her powers. When Elsa recreates a sentient Olaf the Snowman during "Let It Go," it is, in a way, her inner child emerging to remind her of her connection with her sister.
Tumblr media
A little Kristoff and his trusty reindeer friend Sven are two of the first characters seen in Frozen, crouching in the dark as the men harvest the ice. In the river, Elsa sees crystalline versions of them sliding through the snow. This is an interesting one as Elsa never met Kristoff as a child, so the memory isn't necessarily hers. Kristoff, however, saw both Anna and Elsa when they went to the trolls for counsel, an important moment in his life, as it was the moment a motherly troll took him and Sven in as her own. He alone in the kingdom of Arendelle knows of Elsa's powers, but as a commoner, he has no connection to the royal family and grows up to seemingly forget the incident. He does, however, retain his kinship with the trolls, and it turns out to be a helpful relationship when Anna is hit with Elsa's dangerous curse.
RELATED: Frozen 3 Theory: Kristoff's Parents Are Still Alive
Tumblr media
Elsa sees a frozen vision of herself strutting by and belting out her famous solo, "Let It Go." She shudders and shields her eyes as though embarrassed. The scene in the first film was a formative one, a moment that allowed her to address all the things about herself that she had been suppressing. The culmination of this growth is arrived at in Frozen 2 when Elsa learns more about her powers and her destiny and how they were gifted to her from the spirits of the forest. It is perhaps because she has learned more about what to do with her gifts that she finds her past rebellion cringeworthy, such as when an adult looks back on old pictures of them as a teenager and shakes their head.
Tumblr media
The scene from Frozen in which the Duke of Weselton dances awkwardly around Anna appears to Elsa as she wanders through the magical river. The hapless Duke at first provided the comic relief that allowed the sisters to share a laugh for the first time in years. He bows to them, his toupee flipping forward to reveal a bald spot, and then proceeds to take Anna to the dance floor, flopping around energetically. The Duke is a treacherous man easily incited to violence when Elsa demonstrates her powers, but he ends up being little more than a fly in the ointment once Elsa discovers the real villain that is Prince Hans and his attempts to unravel the kingdom of Arendelle. The Duke is returned to his own kingdom sans a treaty after his misdeeds.
Tumblr media
Anna meets Hans in the first film in a typical meet-cute when she accidentally stumbles into his boat. Hans marked an important learning moment for both sisters, first for Anna when she learned how real romantic love truly develops, and second for Elsa when she learns that Anna is more important to her than all the independence in the world. Hans' treachery brings the two sisters closer together than any romantic bond, and the villain Hans is the one memory avatar that Elsa casts aside with a dismissive flick of her wrist, illustrating that he is a sad annoyance not to be given any weight. Once again, it shows Elsa has grown.
Tumblr media
Not much is divulged about Anna and Elsa's parents in the first film, but the second allows them to learn more about the love that Iduna and Agnarr shared. In the river, Iduna appears before Elsa, talking to her husband with great sincerity, telling him that she needs to explain more things about herself to him. There seems to be a lot in common between Elsa and her mother, as they both guard difficult secrets they must eventually reveal to the ones they love.
RELATED: Frozen 2 Theory: The 4 Elemental Spirits Killed Anna & Elsa's Parents
Tumblr media
One fun thing both Elsa and audiences got to see was the burgeoning friendship between the two ill-fated royals of Arendelle. A short scene between the phantom-like memories shows that Iduna is every bit as playful as her daughter Anna, while the young Agnarr is poised and thoughtful just like his daughter Elsa. In the memory, Iduna dangles from a tree, making Agnarr laugh. "What are you reading, your majesty?" she asks curiously. "Some new Danish author," Agnarr answers, an obvious nod to Hans Christian Andersen, who wrote The Snow Queen, the fairy tale upon which Frozen is based.
Tumblr media
The two princesses were never told how their father escaped the conflict between the Northuldra and the Arendellians. When the memories of the forest are frozen, Anna and Elsa discover the truth together: their mother was the Northuldran who pulled their father to safety through the cursed mist. Later, Elsa sees more details, witnessing the very moment that Iduna ensures Agnarr's survival. She lifts him into a wagon and covers them both with a blanket, whisking them across the bridge before they could be trapped in the forest or lost in battle.
Tumblr media
In the story Elsa and Anna's father tells them, their grandfather Runeard sought peace with the Northern tribe. He gives them a gift in the form of a dam that is supposedly going to strengthen their rivers. King Agnarr does not know why the battle between the two civilizations commences, only that his father was lost. In a memory in Ahtohallan, the truth is revealed to Elsa. She sees her grandfather betraying the Northuldran people, confiding his plan to one of his officers: "the dam will weaken their lands so they will have to turn to me." When the dam does indeed cause the forest to fail, a Northuldran elder pleads with Runeard to reconsider the gift, and he suggests they discuss it elsewhere. Runeard turns on the elder, killing him when his back is turned and he is unarmed, thus angering the spirits of the forest and causing a battle to ensue. Elsa witnesses his prejudice against magical forces and his ignorance about those he wishes to colonize.
Tumblr media
Some 39 memories flash before Elsa as she enters the sacred river, some from her own mind and others from the point of view of characters like Kristoff, Anna, and Iduna. As she sings the film's standout song "Show Yourself," she is granted snatches of her own childhood, of the traumas and joys she has experienced, and the things that shaped her along the way. Like "Let It Go," the moment is one of self-acceptance and empowerment, and it is a gift to Elsa to see all the memories that belong not only to her but to the ones she loves. She sees Kristoff and Sven sailing through the ice to meet the trolls, sees Anna arriving, frozen to the bone, to Wandering Oaken's Trading Post and Sauna. In one moment as she gazes on the memories, her mother (Evan Rachel Wood), sings along with her, expressing the power that the truth of the past possesses, a significant theme threaded through the story of Frozen 2.

Chapter I: The Welcoming Hat
When, on her eleventh birthday, the crown princess of Arendelle walked into the throne room to discover an elderly man standing in front of her parents, she hadn't thought much of it. Although he was dressing in strange robes and wearing the longest beard Elsa had ever seen in her life, a great number of eccentric characters often came to see the King and Queen. As they had been speaking in English, the girl first regarded him as an ambassador.
However, when the man, Albus Dumbledore, turned to look at her for the first time, Elsa knew right away that she had been wrong. There was something in his eyes—something magical—and, trying to decipher it, the girl barely listened to his very first words to her, much to her parents' exasperation. “You are a witch,” he repeated, much to the princess' astonishment, and proceeded to tell her about how she got a place in his school of magic, located in Scotland.
Elsa was, perhaps, the only muggle-born in Hogwarts at that time who had tried to reject the invitation. All the stories she had heard from other students told her astonishment was a rather common feeling at the discovery of a magical world just within their grasp, but it was always followed by wonder and joy. The princess of Arendelle, however, felt only shame and disgust; ever since the accident, three years prior, she had decided she wants nothing to do with magic.
If it weren't her parents, she would have never set her feet on the castle. Upset about her response and eager to have someone teaching her how to control her magic, they were adamant about her enrollment in Hogwarts. It was the answer to their prays, her father had told her. They were lucky that Dumbledore had taken notice on her, considering that Arendelle was far from the school's territory and foreign students were rare enough in there even among magical families.
Helpless against her parents' demand, Elsa had seen no option but to do as she was told. The girl didn't doubt that she would soon be back, however. Her parents' advisors—clueless about her magic and the nature of Hogwarts—were outraged by the notion of sending their young crown princess to a foreign school when they had very good schools and tutors within the kingdom. They were still to find a law that allowed them to interfere with Elsa's education in that particular situation, but the girl had no doubt they would soon figure out a way to bring her back.
“Why are you so against it?” Her mother asked her once with a frown; neither she nor the king could understand the reason Elsa wasn't excited about meeting boys and girls who were just as magical as she was. The girl, however, just shrugged. The thought of nurturing the exact thing that had her little sister, the person she loved more than life itself, almost killed was incomprehensible to her; she would much rather eradicate it.
Elsa couldn't understand why her parents were in favor of the study of magic when it had brought them nothing but sorrow. She still remembered the deep concern and sorrow in her mother's eyes as the royal family stood in front of the trolls, praying that they would be able to help Anna. The crown princess had never seen her bubbly five-year-old sister so still, frail, cold. No, the only knowledge Elsa wished to acquire at that point was how to get rid of her magic.
Anna. As the girl entered the grand entrance doors of the castle, it was all she could think about. She would love it here. Because the younger princess had adored magic from the day she was born. Elsa was only three years old by then, but she would never forget the wonder in her sister's eyes when she looked at the tiny snowflakes the girl had created just for her.
Yes, Anna would have loved studying at Hogwarts. She would have appreciated every single one of Elsa's school books; not only the content in each chapter, but its entire craft. The dim light of the candles—because there seemed to be no place for electricity in the school—wouldn't have been intimidating at all, she would have thought of them as an invitation to an adventure. And the moving and talking paintings— if Anna was indeed an art enthusiast, like her tutor and her parents had told her, Elsa was sure she would be beyond words if she set her eyes on them.
While the other students seemed to grow unease and excited as they approached the teachers' table and stopped in front of a singing hat, Elsa was deep in her thoughts. She had to stop herself from giggling at the thought of Anna's reaction to the great hall, a place that screamed “magic” more than anything she had ever done in her life. Perhaps, the girl mused, she could send a letter to her sister telling her everything about Hogwarts. Perhaps—
“Kyrre, Elsa!” Startled, the crown princess looked at the stern-looking teacher she thought to be called Professor McGonagall. Elsa could sense in the tone of her voice that this hadn't been the first time the woman had called her, much to her embarrassment. Being a good multitasker, there weren't many occasions she had been caught not paying attention to a teacher.
The problem, and she knew it would come back to bite her again, was the name. Technically, she had been named Elsa Iduna Solveig Kyrre, but people had always called her either “your royal highness”, “princess” or simply “Elsa”. Therefore, even though her father had warned her that would be the name they would be using, the girl couldn't help but being irresponsible when referred to as Miss Elsa Kyrre. No matter how much she rehearsed it in her head, it would be a problem.
However, as the hat covered her eyes, shielding her from the view of the giggling faces of the other students, such thoughts vanished immediately. “Ah! What do we have here?” A voice—the hat's voice—whispered in her head. This time, was she the only one listening? “Quite an interesting mind, I see—” A dreadful thought popped into Elsa's mind: if the hat could read her mind, it would be able to see and tell others about her mistake, her shame. The girl gulped, vær så snill, ikke fortell noen— jeg mener— please, don't tell anyone! God, please! “A worrier, huh?”
A pause followed as the hat seemed to contemplate, and Elsa felt the cold slipping from the tip of her fingers to the cloth of her white gloves. She swallowed hard once again, trying to control her magic. Please, don't tell— “a hat never tells,” the girl's erratic thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the amused response; “now, where should I put you?” Once again, it seemed to be contemplating her. “What a mind! And in all these centuries— I have rarely seen such raw talent! In Ravenclaw, you shall find your equals. However— such extreme beliefs for a young mind. No, I believe—”
Another pause. Elsa wondered how long has it passed since the hat was first placed in her head. It mustn't be too long, otherwise, people would become agitated. Wouldn't they? “I can see wit, strong loyalty and the burning desire to succeed. Perhaps— you might find kinship in Slytherin.” For a reason, the hat didn't seem too sure, and the girl had a hint on the true reason. While she didn't want to attend Hogwarts, the crown princess knew better than going with no knowledge of the place. The chapter about the house of Slytherin in “Hogwarts, a History” told her about its founder's firm belief that no muggle-born should be taught magic in Hogwarts. The hat would know better than placing one there, right?
“That leaves us— HUFFLEPUFF!” The last word came out louder than the previous and Elsa took a few seconds to realize the other students were clapping, which meant she had been sorted. Hufflepuff— a warm feeling filled her chest at the remembrance of an excerpt in “Hogwarts, a History” about the house.
Hufflepuff is, perhaps, the most misunderstood of the Hogwarts houses in the modern age. Designed by the Welsh witch Helga Hufflepuff during the earliest days of the school's foundation, the house acquired the reputation of forming weak and dull wizards and witches because of its overall approval of students regarding their background or personal skills.
Helga Hufflepuff valued fairness and loyalty, which she aspired to teach the new witches or wizards. Her lessons have been passed from generation to generation of Hufflepuff students, strong enough to create a tradition of acceptance, honesty, kindness, and communion within the house. To this day, it has produced the lowest number of dark wizards and witches of all the four houses of Hogwarts.
Elsa didn't feel particularly accepting or kind at that moment, but the judgment of something—or someone—that could see the darkest corners of her mind filled her with joy like she hadn't experienced in many years. Besides, if Hufflepuff didn't bring up as many dark witches and wizards as the other houses, perhaps there was hope for her magic, for herself. Perhaps she wasn't so bad, after all.
With a smile of relief on her lips, Elsa carefully took off the hat and placed it back on the stool she had been sitting. After a glance through the hall, the girl walked towards the closest table on her left, where the applauds were coming from. For once, being at Hogwarts didn't seem too bad; too far to hurt her sister and surrounded by people who knew about her magic, things might turn out fine.

marry me, he said  - Lt Duckling - rated M - Ch 1
Prologue
Chapter 1 - Marry Me, He Said
They told her that his name was Baelfire.
Musings of the day that she would be married have been a familiar wandering place for her mind since she was a child. Princesses had little choice but to ponder things so pivotal to the roles they are born to. She still recalls it clearly, the day that she had first considered it. Her mother’s maid has run a brush through her blonde hair, matted with weeds and broken daisy chains that she had threaded there with the servant girls. The plump faced woman with the kind smile and wrinkles ever etching her face had muttered amiably about what a handful she would be for a husband if he expected a timid wife. She had quipped to her at that that she would never be married. Joanna had laughed. Little Emma had laughed too.
Another time, she remembers being surrounded by lords and ladies, friends of her parents, and a man she knew as a close advisor of her father’s bundling her up and onto his knee and telling her parents - not her - what a pretty little princess she was and how she’ll have all the princes after her in no time.
Such casual talk only increased as she grew into early womanhood, other memories of giggling and whispers of daughters of nobles – things of dresses, proposals, marriage beds, and handsome boys – stored away in her mind where the distant memories that never quite left were kept. This had progressed into things like vaguely mortifying talks with her mother about the private lives of husbands and wives. She had always feared that her mother had gone a bit too into detail out of her own nerves, but in a way, it had calmed her to know the elegant, queenly Snow White could be flustered at such things.
When she neared eighteen, men began to come to court her. Honestly she gave few true thought, though she couldn’t deny the excitement that the dancing and attention welled in her as handsome men vied for chance to catch her eye. Her mother tried to play along into the excitement, beginning to use phrases such as “finding your True Love” and speaking of grandchildren. It was, of course, all in a teasing jest as her daughter rolled her eyes and told her that she could rule the kingdom quite wonderfully without a husband, but also, perhaps not in jest at all.
One quiet, if not a bit blustery day, the morn of her 19th birthday, a proposal arrived.
They told her that his name was Baelfire.
Months passed with hearing little more than that. Well, other than what most in the kingdom already knew. He was the son of Rumpelstiltkin, king of the realm Tenebris, one of Misthaven’s sister kingdoms. He was the son of The Dark One. Dangerous tensions had long lived between their kingdoms, her parents ever attempting to keep peace, but political disagreement and Tenebris’ further disagreements with their allies in Arendelle kept their peace tenuous. Such a union would bring an end to the disquiet and fear of war that had concerned the King and Queen for some years. The state of their kingdom had already been weakened by a violent attempt for the throne from Regina, known widely as The Evil Queen, before her capture and banishment. They could afford no such other attack.
That is why not even a moment had passed upon hearing news of Prince Baelfire’s proposal – his hope for a union of kingdoms, even with the promise of negotiations with Arendelle – that Emma knew she could not and would never refuse. Their kingdom was wounded – unbroken and yet afraid. The Dark One’s kingdom was richer, more powerful, with an army stronger than any surrounding land and magic that outweighed even the greatest of sorcerers of Misthaven. Emma trusted the Dark One about as far as she could throw him, but his son seemed truly sincere and a legal treaty had been proposed.
Soon, they will be your responsibility, Emma.
She could not refuse.
The King and Queen had balked. Their distrust of Rumpelstiltskin ran deeper, through no violent action of his own, but merely by reputation. Still, Emma saw the flickers of hope in their eyes as they read the proposal, first once, and then again.
“Give them a year,” They had finally proposed. “When she is twenty, our daughter will decide. Until then, let them exchange letters. You will have your answer after a year.”
And they did.
Through the letters, she learned many things of this Baelfire. That his eyes were brown and his hair of curls. His mother died when he was a child and he was left with only his father, who had never remarried. She learned he was only a few years old than her, 24 years to her half 19. Their letters read as stiff, cordial, the first few that they exchanged, but as the months passed, their pens eased in their hands. She told him of her love of riding and sword lessons with her father. He told her that he had secretly longed for adventure and to see new lands as a child and had always hoped to be a sailor before he learned that could never be. Her lips had curved at this, her own thirst for adventure repressed but alive within her. Perhaps, they at least had a small kinship in that. She told him that she used to sneak away at night and explore the castle grounds in the dark, when all looked and felt new and different. He told her that his mother used to call him Bae.
She began to truly look forward to his letters, even if marriage had still felt so much more as a duty than a desire. But perhaps. Just perhaps they would come to care for each other in that way. Even early on, she felt infatuation rising within her yet unclaimed heart. She found herself smiling like a fool when new letters arrived, and pondering what his face might look like at night. Would he have a strong jaw? Would his nose be pointed as the Dark One’s was rumored to be? Would he be as kind and genuine as his letters seemed? She thought that he would, she truly did.
The ninth month, his letters stopped.
It was first unsettling and then concerning. There was no word for more than a fortnight until finally, an agreement with his kingdom’s seal written in shining golden ink appeared in her bedroom, Baelfire’s hand signed at the bottom. She recognized it, but her ill at ease remained. Why would he so abruptly cut off their pleasant communication with months yet to decide? Had he decided, in his heart, that this was best and taken the chance at asking her hand? And why with no prior warning in his letters? Had his father become impatient and forced the matter? She shook away the odd feeling that rose first in her neck, tingling a bit down her spine and then spreading back up to settle heavily onto her shoulders. She liked Baelfire – she liked Bae. She knew him, she thought, and from the kinship she felt, that could only mean good things, if not love just yet.
Her parents read through the proposal, but the distance between kingdoms was too far for them to venture to quibble over a proposal being just a few, short months early, especially in a courtship that had seemed to be progressing so pleasantly. The kingdom too weak to go without its rulers for such a journey. The decision was hers, they told her, thought her mother’s face held a look that was both anxious and encouraging.
With trembling hands, she had signed.
She would leave by carriage in a month.
A/n: Thanks for reading, everyone! The next chapter will be considerably less exposition-y and go into real time/present tense. But before we start, I will warn you Lemony Snicket style that this is not a happy story. Though occasionally happiness may arrive, alas, it is probably short lived. She will marry Rumpelstiltskin. (Belle may show up a bit as well). I will let you know that there will not be rape in any manner of the word for the sake of anyone concerned about triggers that may go along with a somewhat forced marriage, but married life will be angsty and sad for her. But do not dismay! A young, wonderful Lt Killian Jones WILL come into this story. You’ll see a glimpse next chapter and then, eventually, he will be in quite a lot of it. There will even be some Liam, so hang in the first few chapters and I hope that you enjoy this as much as I am enjoying writing this horrible thing. xD As always, I am clinging onto every meager scrap of energy and inspiration that I possibly have to write this, so please let me know how you feel about it in a review. I love you all! :)

In her waters, deep and true, lie the answers and a path for you.
"Now that we are together again," Olaf said, freeing himself from their embrace, "I think I will leave for a moment – I hope nothing will happen to you again without me!" and he, taking Sven with him, ran away to Northuldra – he was impatient to play with the children and share his newfound wisdom with them, because he is now quite an adult.
Anna looked at Elsa, who nodded, and they went up the slope to the top. Kristoff took Anna's hand and helped her climb up the rocks. When they were at the top, and were about to move towards the camp, Elsa stopped them.
"Anna. We need to talk."
"Then I'll go, yes?.." said Kristoff.
"No, Kristoff, stay. This is for both of you, because you are like a brother to me."
She sat down on the yellow grass at the edge of the cliff, straightened her transparent skirts, motioning for them to sit down in front of her.
Anna looked at her sister a little puzzled, but she felt that Elsa wanted to say something important.
Elsa took a deep breath and looked carefully at Anna and Kristoff. The cold autumn sun shone brightly on her snow-white hair and garment.
"The first one. I would like to say something. Anna, sorry for the boat. Kristoff – sorry for leaving without waiting for you."
"Oh, it's nothing, you don't have to..." muttered Kristoff, touched.
"Elsa, next time, please let us explain everything before you leave!" Anna exclaimed and hugged her sister. "I'm so glad that everything went well," she muttered in her ear.
"The call of Ahtohallan...I could not allow my destiny to involve the one I love in trouble again. I will not break my promise again."
"Let's not talk about it," Anna muttered, wiping away a tear. "We did it together anyway."
Elsa nodded to her and smiled.
"As I have already told you, Anna, Ahtohallan pardoned Arendelle because of your feat, and therefore you are now worthy of being queen... "
"What? "exclaimed Kristoff, widening his eyes, "I mean, I'm sorry...if Anna is the queen, then what about you?."
"About me..." Elsa smiled at him mysteriously, "I'm staying here, with Ahtohallan and the Spirits."
Kristoff looked at Anna in disbelief. She frowned slightly.
"Elsa, you told me that, yes, but I still don't quite understand...I mean, I know you're the Fifth Spirit, but what does that mean? And why exactly are you leaving us?"
"I'm not leaving you," she leaned over and took both of their hands, squeezing their palms. "But now I am the Fifth Spirit, the one who was predicted on our mother's shawl. There are four spirits, as you know..."
"Oh, yes, we do," Anna muttered.
"Each of them embodies its own element – water, fire, air, earth. Ahtohallan the Spirit created them all at the beginning of time... My power is the power of ice and snow..." Elsa released their hands and created a large flickering blue snowflake in the air. "And I embody the power of Ahtohallan. Ahtohallan lives in a glacier, and a glacier is a frozen river. Do you understand?."
Anna and Kristoff exchanged glances.
"Almost," Anna said.
"But not really," Kristoff added.
"Do you remember, Anna, how you told me that I was a gift? Thank you for these words. Thanks to them, I realized what I was born for. Why Ahtohallan created me. As she created the Spirits, this sea, the sky and the whole world. She is beautiful, and I feel a kinship with her when I am in her Glacier, in her Temple. But I still have a lot to learn, of course."
Anna and Kristoff looked at each other again. They could not fully understand with their minds what Elsa was telling them, but their hearts understood. That Ahtohallan is Goddess of Nature, and Elsa...she is someone special.
"Now that our grandfather's sin has been redeemed," Elsa nodded slightly to Anna, "The natural harmony of the Forest will be restored. And the whole world's," she whispered, "We need to restore everything that was destroyed, and find everything that was lost – the world in which our future lies."
Saying this, Elsa looked as beautiful-unearthly as she has never been.
"This is the calling of the Fifth Spirit...Connect us with...with Ahtohallan?... " Anna said uncertainly. "To be the bridge."
"That's right, Anna. And your calling is to be the queen of Arendelle. You are the person who can do it better than anyone, I know that. You deserve it and Ahtohallan chose you too. Please, agree."
Kristoff hugged a confused Anna.
"I agree." replied she.
"We are together, you are there, and I am here, we will make our kingdoms the best place on earth," Elsa assured her, looking at her sister and brother-in-law with love. "I will stand here with Ahtohallan, I will look after the Spirits and the Forest, and you will go back to Arendelle and you will rule it. But we will be together forever, as we were before, even behind the closed doors of our rooms, and we will continue to be so when each of us takes our designated place..."
Anna wiped a tear of joy.
"I'll soon run out of tears," she jokingly grumbled, smiling.
"I've never heard anyone speak so beautifully," Kristoff sighed.
Elsa laughed.
"Take care of each other. I will visit you soon at the coronation, and I will tell you even more..." she paused, looking over their heads.
There was a soft cough behind him. It was Lieutenant Matthias.
"Your Majesty, Lord Kristoff, I have been looking for you and we...What do I see?!" he exclaimed, looking at Elsa with all his eyes.
Elsa stood up.
"Elsa, Your Majesty, are you alive?!" he bowed to Elsa, but she came up to him and lightly touched his arm.
"Don't bow to me, Lieutenant. Yes, I'm alive. But now, in front of you, as a witness, I declare... Anna, Kristoff, come here."
They stood next to her, and Elsa put one hand on Anna's shoulder and the other on Mattias'.
"Because my sister, Anna, Princess of Arendelle, did what was right, I renounce the throne of Arendelle and hand over the scepter, the orb, the throne and the crown of the Kingdom to her. Anna is now the queen of Arendelle."
Mattias looked at them and bowed to Anna, and then to Elsa.
"Lady Elsa... "
"Thank you for helping us, and for your loyalty," she nodded to him.
Matthias straightened up and cleared his throat again, looking somewhat shaken.
"Your Majesty," he turned to Anna," I wanted to report that we are almost ready to return home. Lord Kristoff, may I take your sled for the luggage? I have horses for you and the Queen."
"Yes, well," Kristoff looked at Anna questioningly.
"Yes, we'll be going soon, Lieutenant," she said.
Mattias left and there were again just the three of them.
Anna pulled her sister and the fiancé to her and hugged them.
"This is the best day of my life," she whispered.
"And mine," Elsa and Kristoff answered her.
"I'll go help Mattias then. See you later?" Kristoff asked, looking at Elsa.
"Of course," she smiled. When Kristoff left, she told Anna: "He left earlier on purpose to let us say goodbye in private."
Anna took Elsa's hand.
"You found your place. I love you, sister."
"And you found yours. I love you too. And it will always be so."
Anna moved away to the monoliths, but then looked back. Elsa stood and looked at her. Anna rushed back, impulsively hugged her sister and ran away again, to get ready to go home with Kristoff and Mattias.
"Go home, little sister. To where you are meant to be," Elsa whispered, looking after her.
After talking with Yelana and Honeymaren, Elsa went down to the Dark Sea. The Northuldra told her that they would move south, crossing the border of the Monoliths, because now they are free to go wherever they want. They will wait for her there.
"Finally." thought Elsa, sitting on a rock and looking into the distance, where the icy peaks of the Glacier were visible.
The autumn breeze playfully blew her loose hair, and Bruni snuggled on her lap. Elsa felt that she had never been so ready for a change in her life as she was now.
"I'm home," thought she, and closing her eyes, she listened to the frosty voice of Ahtohallan that sounded in the depths of her soul.

present !!
elsa fled to elias after her coronation. after a heated argument with her sister her powers were revealed to the citizens of corona.
since coming to elias she made friends with hades. elsa was unaware of his alliance with malfiencet. even when the monsters attacked she still sided with him finding a kinship in both of them being misunderstood. the god helped her with her powers. hades helped elsa realize there was beautiful in her magic not shame. she grew confident enough to remove her gloves.
her friendship with jack has also made her feel less alone in the world given his own ice powers.
her powers are still hidden from those she’s not close to. while elsa is more comfortable with her ice magic she still fears how others will react to her.
there is still so much she has yet to see and do after being hidden away for years. for the first time in her life she’s happy. as much as anna wants her to return to arendelle and be queen, elsa is content with the life she’s forging in elias.
since elsa was isolated for so many years and the gates of the kingdom were closed no one would know of her royal status unless they were royal themselves or lived in norway.
as for the mickey vs maleficent debate ??? because of her connection with hades ... girly might side with maleficent
past !!
tw: elsa’s past mentions parental death & trauma.
born on the winter solstice to king agnarr and queen iduna, Elsa, was gifted with magical powers—the ability to control ice and snow—as a reward for her mother’s heroism when saving agnarr when they were teenagers. these powers would not manifest until she was three. Iduna was unaware of the origins of Elsa’s powers, but believed that they were born out of love and thus a gift rather than a curse since she was born from the union of an Arendellian and a Northuldran. She accepted her daughter’s uniqueness and correctly believed that Elsa was a gift from the forest's spirits and born with her powers for a reason.
for years elsa used her powers mostly to entertain her younger sister anna. the two were close as can be. all was well until one night when elsa was merely eight years old she accidentally struck anna while playing with her. she struck anna in the head and knocked her out cold.
her parents sought help from the trolls. paddie, the shaman was able to cleanse anna of the magic, which included memories of elsa’s magic.
elsa was traumatized by the events. she almost killed her beloved sister.  after that night elsa was locked away in her room to keep herself safe but also anna. her father gifted her gloves that helped suppressed her powers. that’s where her mantra “conceal, don’t feel, don’t let it show” came from. for years elsa was distanced from others but instead of powers getting under control suppressing them only made them more unruly.
despite wanting elsa to conceal her powers, agnarr was optimistic that his daughter’s would learn to control her powers. her isolation was only temporary, however, the king and queen would never see the day elsa left her room. on the way to the celebration of the return of the lost princess in corona, the king and queen died. their ship was sunk due to extreme weather. distraught by their death, elsa lost control of her powers. she didn’t attend their funeral and after that elsa further isolated herself from anna.
three years after their passing elsa came of age to become queen of arendelle. it was the first time the gates would open to the public. it was the first time elsa would interact with anyone outside of her parents since she was eight. it wasn’t just the kingdom of arendelle but other neighboring kingdoms.
the night was going well. elsa even reunited with anna. all the worries she had began to melt away that is until her sister asked for her blessing to marry prince hans of the southern isles. elsa insisted that anna could not marry a man she just met. the two begin to argue until elsa says the party is over and the gates be closed immediately. of course anna only continued to push which not only made elsa anxious she grew overwhelmed with frustration to the point she accidentally unleashed her powers on anna and the guests. horrified by what she had done and fearing how people would react to her, elsa fled arendelle until she found herself in a city called elias.
future !!
elsa hasn’t had her ‘let it go’ moment yet so i would like to see that. she’s grown more confident yes but she hasn’t let go of anything. she still harbors a lot of anxiety and has yet to let her powers be seen to the public.
in the future, i want elsa to find out about the enchanted forest and her being the fifth spirit. eventually she’d be called forth to Ahtohallan and have her show yourself moment.
she would discover the truth about her parents, her family’s past and ties to the enchanted forest and know that her parents did love her. she would want to help bridge the Northuldra and the Arendellians.
i want elsa to heal from her trauma and realize she is not the monster she believes she is. she was a mere child who should have been given guidance instead of hidden away. she didn’t know any better.
like in frozen 2, she would give arendelle over to anna and leave to protect the enchanted forest. there she would find a sense of self and freedom.
i would hope she mends her relationship with anna. her mother knew that if anyone could help elsa with her powers it was her sister. healing will allow her to create a family of her own and hopefully do better for her kids than what she was given.

Junior Deluxe Novelisation. The book has discrepancies with the canon, and it is a little raw material, which in the existing movie has acquired a more refined and perfected form. Nevertheless, there are interesting details in the book.
From the very beginning, Little Elsa was keenly interested in the world of the spirits and Ahtohallan, as if she felt her kinship with them.
“What would the spirits think of my magic?” Elsa asked, glancing up at her mother.
“When I was little, my mother would sing a song about a special river called Ahtohallan, which was said to hold all the answers about the past,” she said. “About what we are a part of.”
“Mother?” Elsa said as the queen touched the door of the room. “Do you think Ahtohallan knows why I have magical power?”
Elsa leaned heavily into her pillow. “Someone should really try to find it.”
Queen Iduna’s smile was bittersweet as she stepped into the hallway and closed the door behind her.
With the echo of her mother’s lullaby in her ears, Elsa drifted off to sleep. She dreamed about finding Ahtohallan, and learning the answer to every question she’d ever had…and the answers to some of her sister’s questions, too.
On the day of the autumn festival, Elsa and Kristoff saw off the overseas guests, Kristoff told them about reindeer and showed Sven. After that, Elsa went to work in the library, and Kristoff went to the city to order a suit. Anna helped with the decoration of the city, and went to the garden to find the largest pumpkin as a symbol of the harvest.
Elsa liked to be alone, to let her magic be free.
“This was where she went when she had to release extra energy. Whoever or whatever the voice was that had spoken to her in its wordless melody had filled her with more energy and magic than she’d ever felt before.Elsa threw out her arms and let magic shoot from her fingers at full force. Ice and snow filled the air in front of her, then crashed into the fjord. Elsa turned and covered her face, chuckling as water splashed all around her."
Elsa dreamed of the Forest and the young Agnarr and Iduna.
In the eighth and ninth chapters, Elsa thinks that if she allows herself to be herself and answering the Voice, going into the unknown, then it can again "mess things up" and somehow to harm her loved ones: "a voice into something unknown that might take them away from her."
However, "Though she would never admit it, deep down she felt she wasn’t meant to be queen. Every day, as she felt her power grow stronger, it became a little harder for her to deny her doubts and fears, which grew stronger every day. Maybe the mysterious voice knew that and wanted to help her. Elsa decided to answer it, echoing its call."
"Elsa realized she didn’t want it to leave her. She wanted to follow the call into the unknown. She let her arms fall to her sides and looked at the sky, surrendering herself and her power to the voice."
On the night of the Awakening, Kristoff actively helped residents get out of the city, transported children on Sven.
"He stayed in the rear, aiding those who couldn’t keep up.
Working together, Anna and Elsa finally got everyone to the top of the cliffs over the fjord. When Anna looked back for Kristoff, she was happy to see that he was near".
And yes, Anna was too protective, as if she was Elsa's mother.
“If I recall, your powers have mostly just gotten you into trouble. Protecting you has been my job.”
Grand Pabbie nodded in agreement. “She does have a point.”
Anna smiled at the troll. “Thank you.” Then she turned to her sister. “I’m coming.”
Kristoff chose that moment to enter the conversation.
“Me too,” he added, not wanting to be left out of an adventure. “I’ll drive.”
“I’ll bring the snacks!” Olaf said as the wind twirled him past them, the crystals that clung to him sparkling in the moonlight.
Elsa was reluctant to accept, but as she looked between Anna and Kristoff, she knew her only choice was to agree."
"Elsa’s confidence had grown when she realized the full extent of what she could do with her magic. It wasn’t until after Anna had sacrificed herself for Elsa, because of the true love she felt for her sister, that Elsa finally embraced the truth. Her magic wasn’t a curse. It wasn’t meant to hurt people. Elsa could do more than build snowmen and make beautiful icy patterns. She had constructed a magnificent ice palace that still stood strong today. Her magic was, and always had been, a gift."
"Forest was hidden behind the haze and the rolling particles of colored lights that flashed like lightning bugs as they danced through the mist. Elsa’s heart raced, and she couldn’t resist the pull she felt any longer. She quickly climbed down the side of the cliff, and the others followed."
"But Elsa quickly realized the Wind Spirit was no longer being aggressive.
The group immediately stood around her, ready to protect her.
“I’m okay. I’m okay,” she told them.
Gale held Elsa aloft for only a few moments before setting her gently on her feet. Elsa smiled. The Wind Spirit’s energy had lifted her mood and made her feel ready to take on any obstacle that came her way."
"The Northuldra and the Arendellians gathered to take a moment to recognize how important life is and how grateful they should be for each day. As music filled the air, everyone enjoyed warm drinks and bowls of steaming stew."
"Anna was surprised by Elsa’s promise. It was a vow for her sister to keep, not the two of them. Something in her stomach twisted."
“They left?” Anna asked, confused. “Just…just left? Without saying anything?” What could be so important that Kristoff would leave me behind?
Olaf shrugged. “Who knows the ways of men?” He turned and followed Elsa.
Anna glanced back at her sister, getting farther away with each second. Anna didn’t want to leave without Kristoff. But she’d promised to keep Elsa safe.
She raced off and caught up with Olaf. Elsa was ahead of them, pushing through the forest with determination, always aware of the potential dangers all around. Anna did her best to hold her head up and not cry. And when Olaf reached his hand up to her, she gladly took it.”
The shipwreck scene was longer, Elsa saw three statues of Iduna and Agnarr.
One where they danced. Where they were sitting at a table over a map. And their last moment.
“Ahtohallan has to be the source of her magic,” said the distant, distorted voice of the girls’ mother in a memory from long before.
“If we know why Elsa has powers, we can help her,” their father said."
“Do you really think the past can save Elsa’s future?” her father asked.
“No,” her mother replied, “but I think understanding what she’s a part of can.”
The waves are too high,” Queen Iduna said.
“We keep going for Elsa,” King Agnarr replied as a wave crashed onto the deck. “Id una!”
“Agnarr!” she shouted back.
“I love you!” he cried.
“I love you!” she answered."
"Elsa shivered as she looked at the glacier ahead of her. Ahtohallan, the secret river from Mother’s lullaby. It’s real, she thought. There was something about it that seemed so…familiar. She wondered if the familiarity came from the calling of the voice, or from the connection of magic. Because of how the colored lights twinkled and danced around the entrance to Ahtohallan, she knew it was full of magic."
Elsa boldly stepped into the opening of the ice cave, instantly feeling like she was finally where she was meant to be."
"She didn’t tremble anymore. She just needed the voice to show her where she belonged."
It is especially emphasized that Elsa is a gift for Iduna's act, and Ahtohallan rewarded Elsa with memories of her mother, because Elsa proved, after passing the tests, that she is worthy of being the Fifth Spirit.
"The dome above her instantly illuminated with memories, but this time they were sharp and crystal clear. Perhaps it was a reward."
"As Elsa sang along in harmony with the memory of Iduna, she began to transform into who she was always meant to be. Her dress spun around her body, and her hair fell loose and wildly untamed. A crown of vines and leaves adorned her head as the other elements swirled around her—air, fire, water, and earth. Elsa had transformed into the element Honeymaren had spoken of."
"Anna melted into Kristoff’s embrace, unable to hold back her tears.
But the tears weren’t for herself, or for the predicament she had been in. They were for everything she had lost that day…Elsa, Olaf, and now her beloved Arendelle."
"Anna stopped before she reached her sister. It looked like her, but she was different."
"Elsa smiled in a way that let Anna know she had found that and more. And then it hit her. Anna had always known that Elsa was special, that she had always been meant for something more, something greater."
The sisters looked into each other’s eyes, and a shared understanding passed between them. Anna was humbled by what Elsa was asking of her, but thrilled to have the opportunity.
“Together,” Anna agreed.
“I’d like to return these philosophy books, please,” Olaf said. “Seeing as I am at peace with the idea of change, and just so happened to have found the meaning of life, I won’t be needing them for a while.”
“You found the meaning of life,” the librarian said, intrigued. “Well, do tell!”
“Oh, sorry,” Olaf said, “but each person really needs to find that for him—or herself."
"Kai, the royal handler, stood outside the royal tent. Trumpets announced that someone important was approaching. “Presenting Her Majesty…Queen Anna of Arendelle.”
But when the curtains parted, no one was there.
“When should I go?” said Anna. “Now? Right now? Okay.” She peeked around the tent flap at the crowd and then stepped out, nervous and excited.
Her face lit up with gratitude and love when the crowd cheered for her. She greeted each person by name as she passed them."
The memorial was different.
"When they were both in their places, Anna nodded, and they pulled the cords. The curtain fell, revealing a bronze sculpture of young Iduna in the wind saving young Agnarr.
The crowd cheered, and Anna couldn’t hold back the tears that flooded her eyes.
“Our land and people, now connected by love,” she announced to everyone."
"Elsa was exactly where she was meant to be…totally free and in her element."
