19. the veggie you dislike the most?

hmmmmmmmmmmm honestly I like most veggies, they're just. so yummy. There's a common vegetable in India called karela aka bitter gourd which, as the name suggests, is bitter. I actually don't think I've ever had it, or maybe I just tried it once and that's it cuz I don't like bitter stuff.

a more specific answer is baingan bharta. it's a particular way of cooking baingan aka eggplant (or brinjal as we call it) which quite frankly, is gross. i love eggplant - i like it pan fried or roasted or baked or whatever - just not baingan bharta.

i also just googled it and um. eggplant is a fruit?????? get outta here

What was your first fandom? Oh gosh. I’d hoped this would never be broadcasted on the interwebz. It was...Cardcaptor Sakura, even though I like to pretend it was Harry Potter. Don’t judge me. I just really shipped Tomoyo and Eriol a lot.

Who is your 'guilty pleasure’ fandom pairing? I DON’T HAVE ONE!! I should get one. 

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would you pick? Oh damn. This is terribly difficult. I think it would be the soundtrack of this movie called Dev D, which was the first movie that my favorite music composer, Amit Trivedi, did a score for. He’s super popular now but at the time nobody had really heard of him. I really like it because it’s got a huge variety of musical styles - light, airy, pop sounds and heavy electronic and rock sounds as well - but they’re all like...underpinned by a similar musical philosophy...? I mean I don’t understand music formally but that’s what it sounds like to me and I really like it. I also really like it because it was like, a ridiculously fresh sound in Hindi music, esp for mainstream Bollywood music. Nobody had explored the possibilities of electronic music in a Hindi film soundtrack seriously before. So I really like it. What is your least favourite food? This is easy. Eggplant (baingan ka bharta), jackfruit (kathal) and bitter gourd (karela). Also, flavored yogurt. Yuck.

What is your favourite song lyric or line of poetry? This is so difficult. I don’t know how to answer this question.

If you could be a superhero, what power would you most like to have? Mind-reading. Makes all other powers irrelevant.

Which fictional character would you like to spend eternity with? Hahahahahahaha. I love this question, this is so great. Oh gosh, this is making me think about what I’d like in a long term partner???? This is too real rn. Probably Jane from Jane the Virgin. Not many people are fond of karela because of its bitter taste. I used to wonder why would anyone eat karela? It’s so bitter in taste. Then I realized could be because of its health benefits and it is easy to digest. I am not fond of eating karela but still, I make karela because of its health benefits. Other than karela stir-fry I love karele ka bharta, the tangy karele ki sabji which my mom cooks.

I got this karela stir-fry recipe from my mom and I have tried this 4-5 times so far and every time I loved it. 🙂

Serves 2

Ingredients:

250 Gms tender karela/ bitter gourd

1 Large onion, thinly sliced

2-3 Green chilies, slit

1 Tsp cumin seeds

1 Tsp turmeric powder

1 Tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp amchur powder

Salt as required

1 Tbsp mustard oil

Learn Step By Step Recipe With Pictures For Karela Stir Fry | Karele Ka Bhujiya | Bitter gourd Stir Fry 

Recipe:

Step 1- Wash the karela thoroughly with running tap water. Deseed the karela and slice the karela into thin round pieces

Step 2- Heat oil in a kadhai/ pan and let the cumin seeds splutter and then add the green chilies. Add the sliced onion and saute until translucent

Step 3- Now add the karela and fry on medium flame until the slices become slightly brown. Stir in between to avoid burn

Step 4- Add the spices turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix and saute for 5-6mins on low flame. Add amchur powder and turn off the flame

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve as a side dish to roti, chapati or dal-rice. Eat healthy
