11- Tell me a ship you love and a ship you hate

@mrmustachious Thanks for the ask. Ooooh, dangerous waters, as, I'm sure, I have quite unpopular or unconventional opinions on ships in Thunderfandom (TAG-verse). But here goes nothing. If it earns me unfollows - so be it.

A caveat, though: the Thunderbirds are foremost about brothers' and father-sons' relationships for me, so I'm a lot more open to ideas of 'ships' on the periphery of those primary relationships, than I would normally be in a different fandom.

Caveat #2: I know what headcanons and elements of fanon I subscribe to and don't. Those are my personal opinions exclusively. The fanon/fic-canon I don't agree with may or may not be a deal breaker for me to read (or keep reading) a story, mostly it depends if the characters in question are explored in depth.

Ships I like. I appears, Scott Tracy is the only character in the long range of my Tall, Dark and Emotionally Compromised favorites, whom I quite liberally multiship. I would usually stick to an OTP. Since my go-to OTP for Scott is peace of mind, laying down his burdens, knowing he's enough and knowing he's loved (by Dad, mostly) without having to martyr himself to earn it, I go a little more loose in the ship department.

Scott and Kayo make sense to me on many levels. I still remember the time there were 1,5 Scayo fics in the days of TAG run and I was parched, waiting for an update. I actually think they're the kind of ship that would end up together years down the line, even having pursued other relationships and/or marriages. He's the Sun, she's the Shadow.

That said, I can see merit in what the canon wheeled out or hinted at for Scott - Jane Carter the pilot, Marion (this one actually has ample dramatic and comedic potential, where I'm concerned - I'm glad they brought Marion back to showcase Scott). I think one of TAG's creators identified her as a potential LI for Scott in S3, so I'm rolling with that - 10 Things I Hate About You, and all. Pure fic territory, but journalist Kat, Lemaire's wife, Professor Qawrk and Havoc are fun to explore as well. For various reasons. Heck, so are Tyco Reeves and Cameron the Shakleton Guard. People meet Scott - people get inspired by Scott - people get a thing for Scott and kinda carry a torch. That leaves a vast untapped potential for Scott and the Mechanic. I don't personally ship them, but the ground to be covered from resentment to respect to a working relationship/friendship is quite fertile.

I am not sure I'm opposed to the idea of Scott and Penelope having been an on again-off again sort of thing when they were younger. Now it's just a really fond friendship.

I'm also mostly fine with the ideas the show kinda put on the table for John and Virgil - Ridley and Cass. Cass in particular, as I think she ticks many boxes Virgil would need to seek in a relationship (any relationship, not only romantic). I know the fandom generally dislikes Ridley and John/Ridley (or John/anyone) - I don't. The show went for it in no uncertain terms, all Tracy boys definitely have a thing for strong, capable, assertive (and slightly reckless) women. I always wondered if Virgil and Kip Harris could be explored - in a May-December "impossible" sort of way (maybe one-sided).

Going underwater in TB2 really, really made me give Virgil and Penny a long, hard look. I really enjoyed their rapport and banter. The sweet Lumberjack may be awkward eating cookies in a castle, but he's a man of fine arts and music. That's more of Penelope's scene. But I wouldn't want unrequited love or anguish over "brotherly code" for Virgil - he deserves being the first choice. Then again, maybe Penelope too deserves to not feel shackled by obligation to Gordon's undying and unwavering devotion. Either way - Legends of the Fall territory, very unlikely to end mess-free.

I'm rather amused by several ship options for Brains - Moffie, Tycho Reeves, the Mechanic.

The mother of his five sons is, of course, Jeff's one true love, but I am not exactly against the idea of him growing closer to Col. Casey (especially after his return, as the now adult boys pursue their own personal lives more). I've read a fic to that effect and... life is a complicated thing. Especially life after so many losses. If anyone is gonna understand and respect the love he has for his children and for his late wife, and be fiercely protective of his family, that gotta be Casey. I'd read more about their friendship (or something deeper).

Ships I don't like. Well, foremost, I gotta say there's A LOT (sometimes contradictory or mutually exclusive things) I would read in fic, if the characters are done justice or some facets of character/conflict are explored in a fascinating way. Some of these things I would file as "that totally happened, headcanon accepted" , some would go "oh, I can see that!", some go "huh? Never would have thought that, but hey...". Some things make sense only in the coordinates and for versions of characters established in a particular story.

Some things keep not making sense to me even after I gave them a lot of thought and have read a lot of excellent exploration of them in fic. Like Gordon and Penelope. I don't ship them. I exist. They ARE the canon pairing and part of the plot, of course. I don't ship them with anyone else, not really. They will live happily ever after. Well, realistically, I can't help but see them as a trainwreck waiting to happen, as the long-distance honeymoon (highschool) stage of romance is over, but it was not a very realistic story to begin with. There's that, as far as my willing engagement with this ship is concerned. I got fascinated by them in Tunnels of Time and am rather vexed how the show went about actually bringing them together, eventually. I understand it's an "opposites attract" trope, I understand they went for "Princess and the Scoundrel", or "couples' costumes are kinda cute" (since Penelope is all of a sudden in the aquatic rescue business now), but... I just don't see it doing justice to Gordon and his journey to maturity (and I'm kinda annoyed with the loyal page/lapdog vibe, sorry). In my experience it never ends well when ALL parties in a relationship think in earnest one is out of the other's league and agree which one. I've read remarkable explorations of Penny's emotional journey, or their mutual journey in fic to make it more captivating but... that's just too much heavy cognitive lifting for me for the two characters I relate least of all in the story overall. I don't actively seek to read fic with their pairing, and if it's a default in other stories, I appreciate it and read through/around it to the parts more focused on other family relationships and dynamics.

It used to be a rather popular fanon ship in early TAG fandom, but I don't really dig Virgil and Brains. It has nothing to do with headcanons on any characters' sexualities, but mostly to do with character dynamics the way I read it. Virgil's "fatal flaw" is lack of confidence and pursuit of approval, and so is Brain's. So to me, there're not enough complimentary or contrasting aspects these characters can bring to the table in a relationship to build each other up (unless Virgil is depicted confident, assertive and suave, which is... an OOC Virgil). Their working dynamics could be quite fascinating. I know some of my followers ship them... Well, these are my personal opinions. I mostly do with Virgil/Brains in fic what I do with Pen and Ink - appreciate them as an established fact of this story version and quietly read around them to other relationships and dynamics (if I like the overall story and want to engage with it, regardless of the ship).

Another popular fanon ship that I don't quite get is Virgil and Kayo. Well, I can SEE it - they're remarkably hot individuals. I can see Virgil falling in love (bless him). I've seen it explored along interesting avenues in fic, but I have to make a conscious effort to suspend disbelief. There's just not enough in their interactions and characterization in the show for me to get the vibe. I dunno... Maybe I can see Kayo going along with Virgil's crush (the boi is precious and breathtakingly handsome), but then withdraw because he's "too good and pure for her"? I dunno... Lots of heartbreak for Virgil. Don't wanna a heartbroken Virgil.

Which brings us to my, probably, only no-fly ship zone - OC ships. If there's a Tracy Brother/OC ship on the tin... I may test the waters, but am very unlikely to engage or read further. Sadly, I am yet to see OC ships with the boys that are not tumbling their way headfirst into Mary Sue/Gary Stu Bella Swan wish fulfillment territory. Except for, maybe, a couple of dramatic, painful "past relationship" stories for the boys. I read A LOT of fic (for fun and for research). I give many stories many chances, but I am yet to be proven wrong in my initial assumption. Do I have secret bosom OC ships in the bottom drawer of my Thunderheadcanons? Of course. Would I wanna read it, fully aware of the demerits and limitations of OC ship as a genre? No, thank you. To each their own, of course.

The title roughly translates to: "The Slit-Mouthed Woman of Enbizaka"

She originally was missing a right arm, unfortunately I forgot about it and I didn't want to start the drawing all over again, so we retconned it. Again, I'm sorry for freaking out on you a few days ago, @tomgonzo34, I get a little upset when my drawings aren't perfect.

Anyways, this drawing took me a few days to make, it was inspired by my RPs with Cameron where everything took place in the 3rd 1/2 period thanks to the Demon of Discord's own Re_Birthday, it's kinda like the Court Ending except it only loops once and there's three endings, the good, the bad, and the neutral, this effects Enbizaka greatly to. In this case, Kayo becomes just like her real-life counterpart: "Kuchisake-Onna".

In the novel there was mentions of a split timeline:

The first being played out exactly like the song where Kayo(probably due to not body swapping) goes insane and kills everyone out of Envy before discovering the truth about the arson, reveals the Crimson Robed Masses, and causing Enbizaka to burn to the ground by them.

The second being where Kayo discovered the truth first due to the prophetic dream, played everything out exactly like it is, and feigned insanity in order to protect Enbizaka from being destroyed again.

The third being like the second one, except played out very...morbidly.

Due to Tom's meddling with the Crimson Robed Masses(He's not racist mind you, he just has an agenda), Enbizaka was destroyed beyond belief, leaving lots of people dead or homeless. Kayo, having received a grizzly Glasgow scar on her face by the destruction, went mental and tried to kill those responsible on the spot with her scissors, only to be severely burnt by Miku(being possessed by Dragon!Miku from Hitoshizuku-P's Synchronicity series) in self defense, causing her to suffer from 4th Degree Burns.

As she laid there suffering from the burns and face injury, Tom whispered to her in fluent Jakokunese: "Poor lass, who will think you're beautiful now?"

Soon after she died from suicide due to her ugly scars and supposed betrayal she from her people, she would return from the Hellish Yard as a angry spirit named "Enbizaka no Kuchisake-Onna". She began haunting Jakoku during the mid EC 900s, attacking those unfortunate enough to cross her path.

She's described by people who lived to tell the tale as looking human when far away, only to realized that she's more zombie looking when up close and when she removes the green scarf around her neck and face. She normally targets those who are alone during nighttime, you will assume she's an ordinary foreign woman due to still containing her ancestor's Loop Octopus body, while wearing a red trench-coat and black Mary Janes.

Then she would approach you and ask: "Am I beautiful?", when you say "yes", she will reveal her disfigured mouth and burns around her neck asking: "How about now?", if you say "yes" again, she will take out her large pair of scissors and carve a similar Glasgow grin to your face. If you say "no" to either question or scream on the second question, she will either kill you on the spot or wait till you get home to murder you.

An individual can survive an encounter with her by using one of several methods. In some versions of the legend, she will leave the potential victim alone if they answer "yes" to both of her questions, though in other versions, she will visit the individual's residence later that night and murder the person while sleeping. Other survival tactics include replying to her question by describing her appearance as "average", giving the individual enough time to run away; distracting her by giving or throwing money or hard candies(particularly the kind of candy known as bekko ame) in her direction; or by saying the word "pomade" three times.

During the late EC 900's, she disappeared from Jakoku and began making appearances around the Evillious region, namely Levianta, frightening individuals while on the hunt for something...or someone.

Social Media Weekly Analysis: WEEK 9 NRL Finals Series 2020

What was the campaign?

The NRL Finals series campaign was played over four weekends in October, culminating in the 2020 NRL Grand Final on 25 October 2020 at ANZ Stadium. The Grand Final was ultimately won by the second-placed Melbourne Storm, who defeated the minor premiers the Penrith Panthers.

Who was leading the campaign? Who was involved?

The National Rugby League (NRL) in partnership with Telstra and Foxtel, were leading the finals series campaign.

Many other sponsors such as KFC, Harvey Norman, Hisense, vb and many more sponsors were involved in the success of this campaign.

Major broadcasting services such as Channel 9 and foxtel were able to showcase the NRL Finals series. Kayo was also a major streaming partner for this campaign.

NRL and all of its major sponsors used bright, colourful and interactive social media strategies to bring in fans of the game on their social media channels.

Videos of highlights from the year, player v player comparisons, and photos of the finals bracket all the way up to the Grand Final left NRL’s fans engaged and responsive to their content.

NRL are notorious for using hashtags on all of its posts in order to gain attraction to its channels.

Infographics are a major benefit to NRL’s social media, team vs team comparisons with stats of the teams and their form in the competition leading up to the finals series and within the finals series.

Social media posts regarding the competitions finals series were made daily with at least 10+ posts a day informing fans.

He could see the doctor’s struggling to figure out what his problem was, could hear his parents voices in worry. Overall the eldritch horrific voice kept repeating that nauseating tortuous phrase and it kept overpowering everything of his existence.

“Hey we’ve got another couple of kids that fainted today.” Stephan’s eyes opened wide, the entity deemed best as the Shadow Realm crawling from his lids invisibly forcing Stephan to look at the talking doctors.

“Another no obvious cause case?”

“Yeah.” Stephan watched as the sloppy goo cover his hand, the iv that was placed in his body was sucked out painfully. He wanted to cry, he wanted to scream, but the goo controlled him like a puppet and his body moved. He must have been invisible considering the talking doctors ignored him and his sloppy steps.

“Which room are the new kids in?” The goo that covered his body forced him still to listen to the next words. The other person in the conversation answered and to Stephan’s lack of surprise, the puppeteering continued. His body sludged towards the offered number, the nurses and fellow patients completely ignorant to his presence as the ugly goop dragged him. Stephan felt tears drop from his eyes from the pain his body screeched at him and those tears poured out quicker as he entered the room, seeing Yuna lying down on a bed. Stephan’s hand bent painfully, reaching for his deck. The soul staining remark of ‘A card’ echoed and came faster and faster, a tirade of chaos as the twisted hand grabbed his most treasured monster. A painful sob made it way out of his mouth, this was not only his first monster card ever, it was his strongest. His body trudged to the little table by Yuna’s bedside and with more force than necessary his hand twisted to try and force the card down.

“Someone’s main deck is a part of their soul. I would never take someone’s soul.” Stephan glanced over to the sleeping figure as the gloop controlling his body paused from the words. Where had that come from? It sounded like Yuna, but the girl had not reacted since he was forced in. Stephan’s hand and card withdrew and despite all of his pain, he felt elation as the card was put back in his deck. The goop purposely twisted his wrist and traveled to each card he had. This was his main deck, if whoever spoke was speaking the truth and the Shadow Realm took those words to heart than he wouldn’t be able to get rid of any of these cards. Which was both great and terrible. Stephan wanted to be free from this torment, but the feelings of panic and anxiety of even putting his first card down was downright awful.  His hand continued to twist, full of indecision for a few minutes.

“Tsukasa!” Distracted by the distraught newcomer, the Shadow Realm actually shifted Stephan to focus on the unhappy person. Stephan saw the other bed in the room held the duelist like the woman had called out. A nurse came from behind her, “Do you have any idea how this happened yet?” The woman asking the question was short with short brown hair, except with small parts of blonde mixed in. Stephan surmised that this was likely Tsukasa’s mom, her eyes were dark like his. 

“I’m sorry ma’am, we don’t yet know.” The older woman touched Tsukasa forehead, brushing away part of his bangs. “But it doesn’t look like he’s in a terrible condition, he’s still breathing on his own and his blood pressure and temperature is normal.” The nurse tried to calm the mother down. “It’s likely he’s overworked.” The mother frowned at that, continuing to brush her son’s hair. After a minute, the nurse nodded and walked to Yuna’s bed, Stephan screaming as his now useless hand focused on his deck again.

The nurse fixed Yuna’s sheets, brushing the girl’s bangs in imitation of the loving mother for the boy in the other bed. “You on the other hand…” The nurse muttered lowly before going back to the mother. “Mrs. Ayumu can you please follow me to fill out the rest of the paperwork?” The older woman nodded numbly, following the nurse outside the room. The Shadow Realm finally made a decision during what may as well have been the outside world and Stephan finally felt relief as the card was placed on the table. It was a card he had duplicates of, he could replace it easily if needed.

Stephan screamed as the Shadow Realm let go and he fell forward, all of the painful things it had done to him rushed to his conscious. His left hand ruined from the break. The nurse and Mrs. Ayumu rushed in immediately and stared shocked at the sudden appearance of the screaming teenager.

“Do you think big sis Yuna will be okay?” Claire asked Kayo, tugging on his long sleeve with a worried look. Kayo brushed her off and glared down at the ground. They had managed to get help and were unfortunately relegated to the third professor of the cram school, who promptly shoved the four children into a study room.

“Ryu were there any duel spirits that could tell you what that was?” Kayo asked his own question, studying the mute. Ryu stared down at his sketchbook with a haunted expression, upsetting the pink-haired boy even more. What was all that? 

“So she really is a monster.” Sakura remarked coldy from her seat, her legs swinging childishly despite her tone.

“Don’t call big sis that!” Claire shouted, approaching Sakura angrily. Sakura just gave her a harsh stare, her feet still swinging with desperate energy.

“Well what else can make what happened happen?” Claire’s face twisted with a frown and she huffed and visibly stomped her feet.

“Well...ma-maybe it’s Ayumu’s fault!” Claire offered. “He was talking about something weird right?”

“Getting rid of Yuna’s darkness…” Kayo muttered as Sakura scoffed.

“Then doesn’t that mean that Ayumu should have won that duel?” Claire frowned at her question. “We should have been cheering him on to get rid of the monst-” Sakura screamed as Claire tackled her, the two of them falling from the chair.

“Stop!” Kayo yelled, hissing as he had to get himself involved with the scuffle, the three of them making a mess. Ryu’s hand trembled as the trio kept bumping into desks and chairs, adult words spilling out of all of their mouths with ease. The green-haired boy started to write in his sketchbook and the only thing that paused the fight was a particularly loud shriek from Claire as Kayo started to pull on her long hair.

“Let go, let go, let go-” she continuously whined and Kayo cried in pain as Sakura harshly pinched his back, yelling the same thing as Claire.

“I’ll let-OW-go if you-STOP,” Kayo swung at Sakura who switched to his other side to continue the painful pinches. The three would have continued if not for Ryu throwing his large sketchbook at the three. They simultaneously looked to see Ryu shaking and crying. Kayo had no problem letting go of his advantage and rushed to the taller with Claire and Sakura following him. “Ryu I’m sorry.” The boy shook his head and pointed at the forgotten weapon. Being the closest, Sakura picked it up and handed it back to the boy, looking sulky.

“I don’t know what any of that was, and there were no nearby duel monsters to ask, but whatever it is, it’s scary.” Kayo frowned at the words.

“...Yeah, it was scary.” Claire was the first to speak, worry emitting from her. 

“Whenever I got close to it, my tummy hurt.” Claire held her hands close to said spot, “I can’t imagine how it felt for big sis or Ayumu.” At her words, Sakura stilled. “I just want to know if they’ll be okay.” Kayo swallowed the sudden abundance of saliva in his mouth and nervously remarked,

“I’m sure they are.”

“Yeah.” Sakura backed his words, “I’m sure they’ll be okay.” She put her hand on Claire’s shoulder, reminding Kayo that despite of the venom the three could carry between them, it was easily cured when they actually shared their feelings. Kayo put his own hand on Ryu’s shoulder,

“What about you? Will you be okay?” Ryu held his sketchbook close to his chest and that just told Kayo that his friend didn’t know.

It was dark. An aching eerily dark that made her think she was blind because she couldn’t see any part of her body. Couldn’t even really feel like she HAD a body. Then noise started shrieking and filtering into her senses, an abnormal amount of emotional cries attacked her at a frenzy of panic, it felt like she was going to be crushed by it.

And she might have been if she didn’t wake up. Yuna panted, throwing the blanket she had on her off immediately. She continued to breathe harshly, wiping off the sweat that built on her face. The young woman eventually was able to calm down, and she stared, realizing she was in a hospital room. She sighed then started to rub her forehead, the place where the eye normally appeared ached. Her arms and legs felt the same.

“What happened?” She asked out loud, sighing into the room. She started to look for her cellphone, she needed to contact her parents if it wasn’t too late. She jumped when in her search a Duel Monsters card fell to the ground. 

Curiously she picked it up and saw it was a Kidmodo Dragon. She gave the card a small smile and put it back from where it fell, thinking she would turn it in the lost and found in the morning, then finally finding her cellphone. As she moved to call, likely to leave a voice message because it was 9 at night, Yuna blinked as the card fell from its spot to the ground once again as she pressed the only phone number she had saved.

Yuna stared at the Duel Monster card with confusion. She knew she had put it away from the corner to fall, so how did it get on the ground? She looked at the window to the room and saw it wasn’t open for a breeze. Before she could think anymore, the phone was answered.

“Hello?” It was her dad, sounding like he was forced awake from bed. Drat.

“Hey! Sorry to wake you up, just making the usual call in.” She tried to beam a smile through the phone. Her father was silent so she continued, “I’m calling a little late because I was out all day, having a ton of fun with some friends.”

“Is that so?”

“Yup! I’ll go ahead and let you go now, you head back to sleep and I’ll make a full report tomorrow night, okay?” Her father made a grunting noise before hanging up on her. She sighed, putting her cell phone away and then turned back to pick up the Kidmodo Dragon. She gave it smile again, “Don’t worry little guy, I’ll put you somewhere where your owner will come back for-”

“That’s yours.” Yuna shrieked, jumping visibly at the voice that came from behind what she thought was a wall. Yuna tip-toed to the wall and pushed it, feeling it was softer than wood.

“Tsukasa!” She gasped, then covered her mouth for her volume. “You’re okay! I’m glad-” his expression stopped the rest of her sentence. She looked away at the unmitigated anger molded into the brunet’s face. “Um...you said this is mine?” She tried to change the subject, displaying the card for visibility. Tsukasa’s face did not change, but he did answer her,

“Stephan gave that to you. Lousy choice if you ask me.” He glared away from her, facing the wall of the room they shared. Yuna looked down at the card, frowning. Why did Stephan give her the card? She nodded to herself,

“I’m going to go visit him.” Tsukasa’s eyes darted to her and before she could move out of the room he hissed,

“He was moved into the ICU, and it’s late at night, there wouldn’t be anyway to get to him...unless you use your dark magic maybe.” Yuna felt her back bristle, her eyes appearing all over her with the frustration from his words. Her multiple eyes blinked as she started to worry instead of being angry. Stephan really was in bad shape, huh? That made her question why she had gotten the card even more. Yuna turned to look at the scary brunet.

“You said you’re a light to destroy a great darkness.” She grabbed her arm unsure, “Do-do you know more? You seem so sure that I’m...cursed.” Yuna stated awkwardly, almost quiet because what if she really was? Tsukasa stared at his wall, his expression stony and neutral. “I wasn’t born with these eyes.” She admitted to him, hoping to get him to speak more of the destiny he seemed to be sure of.

Tsukasa glanced at her so she continued, “I don’t know why I suddenly got these eyes, my earliest memory of them was when I was much younger.” She glanced down at the ground, the shameful moment flooding into her mind easily. She didn't have many possessions, her family poor even then and she was mindful of her parents time. She was pretty sure her mother had taken weeks to make her the stuffed rabbit. Three of her classmates were trying to steal the toy, and in all of their fury of tug of war, they had ripped the rabbit in half.

“I HOPE YOU GET EATEN BY A MONSTER!”

Yuna paled under Tsukasa’s gaze on her. Her memory supplying her with the fact that those three classmates had disappeared after that day.

“Your eyes appeared after yelling that?” He asked, and she nodded hesitantly. The young woman then looked up to process what the other was possibly thinking, but he looked completely shut off.

“Do you know something Tsukasa?” She asked again. The boy answered with silence and purposely looking away from her. She felt an ugly feeling roam everywhere in her body before settling in her stomach. The hand without the Kidmodo Dragon rubbed one of her eyes that could feel the sting of sadness. She closed the wall and climbed into her bed. Despite the depression that was ravaging her stomach and slowly crawling up to her chest, she brought the Duel Monsters card into view. Her first ever actual Duel Card. A card that would make a part of her soul when she got at least 38 more for a whole deck.

It was small, weak, and only useful for its special effect. A part of her stifled a frustrated giggle. She brought it to her forehead, and shivered slightly when felt like her mystical eye blinked at it. She wasn’t feeling angry and she had no way of comprehending why it appeared during the duel. So many weird and mysterious things were happening, and the only one who may potentially had answers despised her. “We’re two of a kind, aren’t we Kidmodo Dragon?” She asked it, giving the card a sincere smile. She then took off her necklace and put the card to stack upon the blank Duel Monsters card.

She gave the wall separating the two teens one long stare, feeling tension claw on her shoulders. Just what was going to happen to her in the future? She took a deep breathe through her nose and smacked her cheeks. It didn’t matter, she would pull through with her best, just like her heroes. “Goodnight Tsukasa.” She said out loud and turned away, falling asleep despite all negative emotions trying to nerve her to stay awake.

On the other side of the wall, Tsukasa glared at the way to where Yuna laid. The forced lesson of human lives being more important was true, he knew. A voice repeatedly whispered in the back of his mind to enforce that thought. Tsukasa agreed with the voice, but Yuna Tatsumi was in no way human, so she was free game to do whatever he wanted with her life.

 Elisa yawned under her umbrella, her younger brother glaring up at her as the umbrella dipped away from him to get a little rain on his shoulder.

“Sis come on!” He hit her arm and she hit his back.

“A little water isn’t going to kill you.”

“The problem is that it isn’t going to be a little with you tilting it back and forth!” He shoved his way against her side, Elisa scoffing as he got her wet. The two stayed close, both bumping into each other purposely with force until they made it to the school. Her brother glared at the school and Elisa snickered.

“Raúl, you shy to meet your classmates?” He elbowed her in embarrassment. “Oh no, poor little Raúl,” she held her hands to her face, “I’m so shy I’d be content to hide in a hole for the rest of my life.” Raúl growed and stomped into the building with obvious hatred with each step. Elisa laughed, reaching the building after him. It wasn’t rare for people to get sick in this city due to the constant rainfall, and unfortunately Raúl and baby sister Sierra had both came down with terrible colds and Elisa volunteered herself to stay home to take care of them for her mother and father.

Unfortunately that also meant she had missed the last three days, which meant,

“Ah the Flores siblings.” Elisa did her best to give the student council president a neutral expression. Raúl also did his best to appear nonchalant, but Elisa easily saw him shifting to be by her side. Lyla held out her hand, “Got your passes?” Elisa made a small noise and motioned to her little brother. The freshman pulled out both of their passes, each with new stamps on them for their absences. Due to the not incredibly rare disappearances of students because of sickness the passes were required to be stamped by either a parent or doctor.

Lyla scanned the passes and nodded, handing them back. “Very well, head to class. Oh,” Lyla stopped Elisa from moving pass her, “if you see Ayumu today please tell me.” Elisa rose an eyebrow. “He and that transfer student haven’t come in today.” Transfer student? Seeing her confusion, Lyla nodded, explaining “You had a transfer student come into your class, Yuna Tatsumi, I think?” Well it was weird for Tsukasa not to be around, but she had no clue about this Yuna Tatsumi.

“Good morning!” Elisa jumped as Yuna splashed into the building. Lyla gave the young girl a glare, “Sorry I’m a little late,” Yuna spoke, fumbling around her uniform, “They didn’t want to let me go right away after a few tests-” She must have found what she was looking for because she gave a little cheerful ‘aha’ and handed it to Lyla. Lyla glanced at the paper she was handed,

“Where’s Ayumu, Tatsumi?” Yuna blinked. She looked away,

“Why would you assume I would know where he is?” Elisa stayed as her brother ran off seeing an obvious distraction for the Student Council. This was a transfer student for her class, huh? Lyla gave the other a firm glare. Yuna squirmed under her gaze but said nothing. After the stare-down, Lyla sighed,

“Very well, go to class, both of you.” Lyla hissed and the two made their way into the building. Elisa had taken the time to study the uncomfortable girl while she was being glared at.

“My name’s Elisa Flores,” she introduced herself as they made their way further into the building. “You can call me Elly.” She determined and Yuna blinked at her friendly hand. The other teenager gave her a big smile.

“Okay, my name’s Yuna Tatsumi. You can call me Yuna.” She giggled for some reason and Elisa chuckled in reply. As the two made their way to their classroom, Yuna noted out loud, “Are you a student of,” she paused in memory, “2-C?” Elisa nodded and Yuna gave her a dazzling smile. “Awesome.”

“Yeah.” Elisa grabbed the door and could hear the nonsensical yammering of the many mixed, but as soon as she opened it, the noise ceased to stare at the two coming in. Elisa blinked as she watched everyone quietly following their gazes to where Yuna sat, the desk behind Tsukasa’s Elisa noted. Elisa frowned, walking in and noticing that everyone continued to stare at the tri-colored girl near the front.Her seat was more by the back and she was immediately bombarded by whispers of gossip.

“I heard Yuna was the one who put Stephan in the hospital.”

“I heard she beat Tsukasa in a duel.”

“I heard-”

“Did you see-” Elisa glared pointedly at the other teenagers around her. She then looked at the girl near the front, seeing she was either deaf or ignoring all of the chatter around her as her shoulders and back stayed straight and Elisa imagined her eyes were strictly on the board, waiting for the teacher to say something. The noise continued in the back, building on Elisa’s temple with each remark. Elisa may not really know the girl near the front, nor why everyone was talking about her, but enough was enough.

“Shut up!” Elisa slammed her hands her desk, everyone jumping to her action.

“Ms. Flores!” Elisa jumped in response as the teacher immediately started to lecture her and put detention on her. A hushed amount of giggling surrounded her, “Ms. Tatsumi, please escort her to the children after school.”

“They’re still the punishment?” Yuna queried and Elisa raised her eyebrow at the question.

“We still haven’t found a substitute, but I’m sure just adding this girl,” the teacher arched their heard towards Elisa, “will more than enough make it an actual punishment.” Yuna frowned at the teacher but nodded, giving Elisa a sympathetic nod. Elisa sighed, giving everyone around her one final glare, promising a fist to their mouths if they decided to speak anyway.

“Did you have a headache?” Yuna asked the darker teen. She had natural tanned skin, black hair with purple tints in it, and her eyes were a bright color. The other thing that stood out about her to Yuna was the bright red scarf wrapped around her neck. Yuna pondered momentarily if Elisa had to go out of the way to request to wear the item like she had to. Elisa blinked at her, obviously confused as they made their way to the cram school. “I mean, you said shut up out of nowhere.” She amended to explain her thoughts.

“Oh, that...no I didn’t have a headache.” Elisa gave her a long stare before remarking, “Did you not hear everyone?” Yuna tilted her head.

“Hear?”

“Nevermind.” Elisa gave a loud sigh, putting her arms behind her head as they continued walking. “So the punishment this year was watching the preschool brats huh?”

“They’re in elementary, and they’re not that bratty.” Yuna defended with a bit of a pout on her face. Elisa chuckled lightly,

“Yeah? I’ve heard a lot of crazy rumors about them.”

“Like what?” Genuinely curious, Yuna turned around, walking backwards. Giving the curious teen a demonic grin she spoke,

“Supposedly they’ve driven people insane, summoning monsters and cursing their lives with terror.” Elisa didn’t believe a bit of it, but she did always like teasing people, “Darkness surrounds those who associate with those brats, that’s why they’re all together because no one knows what else to do with them.” Yuna just gave Elisa a confused expression. Elisa watched as the confused expression shifted to understanding.

If there were such rumors surrounding them all the time, then them not reacting negatively to her eyes made a lot more sense. Yuna turned back around and held her card close to her heart.The monster rumor probably came because of Ryu’s ability to see Duel Monsters, and whatever else Elly was talking about was likely unhappy circumstances that happened. Or maybe...Yuna started walking a little faster. Elisa made a noise but jogged after the girl.

“Tasumi, you’re here.” Ms. Mokfu spoke with surprise in her voice. “Should you be-” her eyes drifted to Elisa and she chuckled, “Oh, I guess you were just helping some-”

“No I’m here to do my duty as normal Ms. Mokfu.” Ms. Mokfu audibly gasped.

“Are you sure? I mean it’s not a normal thing for someone to pass out due to a duel around here, we’ve put so many safeguards to make sure that doesn’t happen,” Elisa raised her eyebrows with slight shock at what the teacher was admitting. “So if you need to take a day off-” Yuna gave the older woman a determined stare,

“I don’t, thank you Ms. Moku.” Yuna walked past the blonde teacher and headed to the little building off from the cram school. Ms. Mokfu stared with her mouth agape and simply nodded as Elisa waved at her and followed the tri-colored teen. As soon as they were out of ear distance, Ms. Mokfu stood up straight, remarking underneath her breath,

“Hey, was it just me or was there a duel spirit following Tatsumi?” 

“No, that was certainly a Kidmodo Dragon.”

“That wasn’t there before, right?”

“No.” Guardian Angel Joan answered plainly. Ms. Mokfu frowned.

“Something’s stirring in the air, is it?” The Duel Monster stood silently by her guard’s side, agreeing silently with a blatant tension of a warrior. For the group of elementary students, they stirred as Yuna walked into the building. A tension surrounded the group, the obvious feeling of confusion and unknowing wrecking possible tempers. The four children jumped as Yuna knelt to the ground, taking the position of penance. Elisa was about to remark from behind her when Yuna spoke,

“I don’t know what happened yesterday. I know it was scary, and Tsukasa refuses to talk to me about it.” Oh? She was on a first name basis with Ayumu? Elisa was fairly certain she had never heard anyone having that privilege. “But I do know one thing,  and this I can promise you.” Everyone watched as the dark-eyed teen brought a fist near her heart, over the card she hung across her neck. “I will not leave you guys. I’ll figure out what happened with you.” With her strong statement, she was left to be stared at.

“Big sis Yuna!” Claire was the first to say anything, immediately stumbling over to her, grasping the teen with a shocking amount of tears. Yuna grabbed the blonde, expecting her to be quicker than the others. Yuna blinked as Ryu was the second to move up to her, and even more surprising when he stretched his arms around her shoulders for a hug. Kayo must have came over because of Ryu but Yuna appreciated it nonetheless. Sakura was the only one who didn’t move closer.

“Um, I don’t know what’s going on here,” Elisa finally spoke, rubbing the back of her head sensing the awkwardness of the five. “But uh, I’m here to get my detention done and out of the way.” She lamely finished and watched the black girl in the room turn her nose at her and walk to a corner with a book, pick it up and start reading. Yuna lifted herself up and Elisa’s mouth twitched seeing the young woman’s eyes looked a little clouded.

Regardless Yuna helped Elisa through her detention easily, the children despite behind often described as demons seemed to get along with Yuna relatively well. When dinner was to start, Yuna told Elisa,

“Elly please take everyone to the cram school’s cafeteria, they usually get fed in here.”

“Gotta go to the bathroom?” Yuna laughed at the question,

“No, I’m just going to Sakura real quick,” Elisa noted that Sakura had at some time during the gathering had grabbed Yuna’s hand. “We’ll catch up.” Elisa nodded and gathered the giggling madly Claire by arm and piggy backed Ryu who’s throat against her skull made a nice vibration of cheer while Kayo demanded Elisa be careful with him. As the group left, Yuna squat down to the girl who was glaring at the ground.

“I think you’re a monster.” The sting of tears wanted to erupt but Yuna just bit her lip, hoping the girl would continue. “I’m the only one who thinks Ayumu should have beat you.” Yuna couldn’t help the sharp hurt chuckle escape. Sakura looked at her angrily.

“Yeah, you might be right Sakura.” Sakura looked taken aback at her confirmation. “I might be a monster that should have been beaten by Tsukasa, but I wasn’t, so all I can do is go under the assumption I’m not actually a monster.” She gave the girl a sorrowful smile, holding back on the hurt that was continue to build and build. “And even if I am a monster, I won’t hurt you guys, and that won’t change.”

“You could hurt other people.” Like Tsukasa was unspoken. Yuna clutched her arms, holding her trembling unstable emotions.  Seeing as the older teen didn’t have an answer to her scathing sentence, Sakura continued, “But...as long as you really mean you won’t hurt us. Then I guess I don’t care.” Yuna blinked as Sakura brushed a part of her hair, looking obnoxiously snobby. The young girl moved to exit the building, turning around to give the teen a raspberry, negating the uptight classy girl she was to be childish. Yuna stared at the open door, slowly getting up.

No one could possibly know what was going to happen from now on, but Yuna knew that she had to face it head on, to protect those she wanted to be friends with. Yuna marched after, the sun trying to fall piercing her eyes with its glare. Just believe in yourself, the constant lesson given by each of the Kings in their own way.

She could do that.

Giant Star Wheel

Hindi naman sa thrilling pero ito na yung pinaka-exciting ride kasi makikita mo na yung buong Pasay o kaya pati bahay niyo makita mo na kapag nasa tuktok. (Maganda kapag gabi para may street and city lights down there). 'Di ko alam kung pang-ilan 'to sa mga pinakamatataas na ferris wheel sa Pilipinas pero nakatatlong (3) beses kami itry 'to. Ito yung pampawala ng hilo namin like we're chillin' at the top of the world. Sayang lang, bawal foods sa loob.

Ito yung sasakay ka sa isang platform tapos hihiluhin ka talaga like twist and turn. Kaso ang nakakatakot lang is after namin sumakay is nasiraan pero nagawa rin naman ng paraan.

Putek, ito na nga. Kung pwede lang magback-out, aatras talaga ako.
